BT Total Faster Broadband

Hi All,
Just had my line activated for BT Toal Faster Broadband by the engineer. When doing the oringal order online i had a speed estiamte of 11MB-14MB.
Currently only acheving 8MB when doing a speed test.net test.
The engineer also fitted my fibre connection to a secondary telephone socket and not the master socket.
Iam quite technical so nderstand that this is a sub-inifnity product and line distance to exchange makes a difference however why is my speed so slow??
Is is normal to have such a slow speed to start with and then as the line stablises it increases? From my exchange iam 3342m away.
Thanks.

  • BT released another Totally Unlimited Broadband pa...

    Hi
I have recently upgraded to the top normal broadband package BT just released at the start of
this month Totally Unlimited Broadband extra which is priced at £21 per month + Line rental
from £10.75 and this was their top normal broadband package on their website.
I have just noticed today BT has just released yet another Totally Unlimited Broadband
package just a day or two ago called Faster Unlimited Broadband which is priced
at £26 per month + Line rental from £10.75.
Looking at the description of both packages on the website below, they are identical and
have the exact same features and up to speeds thought the new just released Faster
Unlimited Broadband package for some reason is 5 pounds more per month.
Does anybody know what the difference is between the Unlimited Broadband extra
package and this new Faster Unlimited Broadband package?

    Thank you for the response.

You get 50Gb cloud, and Netprotect included.

  • Unlimited Faster Broadband

I've recently been upgraded to UFB which included replacing a Hub2 with a Hub5.  According to the engineer, the Hub2 could still be used on the new circuit, as a backup in case of Hub5 failure.  However the Hub2 will not connect to the internet.
    1) Is there a method of connecting the Hub2 to the UFB circuit?
    2) If not, what would happen if I decide to use another ISP?

This product iI think is the FTTC product but because your connection speed was estimated at 15mb or less you cannot get infinity but can get unlimited faster broadband. If that is the case then the hh2 which is adsl won 't work

  • Faster Broadband option 3 with fibre

I upgraded to faster broadband  package at the end of August with a predicted speed of 8.9 meg download , but when it was activated my speed was still below 2 meg . After numerous phonecalls , complaints and two no show engineer visits , when the engineer did turn up he said that 1.8 meg down was all that i could achieve . I then rang Bt sales who told me that I should not have been offered this packaged and that was that .I checked a month later and now i was being offered faster broadband with a 13.9 meg download speed and I upgraded again but my speed is still less than 2 meg . Can anyone provide me with help pn this matter ? Richard

My question is will this be able to spread out this far to me (2-3 mile) for me to receive fast broadband or not?
    Thanks
    Craig

you will be to far at 2/3 mls

  • Upgrade to 'Faster Broadband' - test showing speed...

After 8 yrs in our current house, we have finally been upgraded to what BT have branded a 'Faster Broadband' service. Basically there is fibre provided to the neighbouring village, with copper wires to our village. I've signed up for the service and been advised if we don't achieve at the very least 5MB then there must be something wrong with the wiring. This service was installed yesterday, ran a test which showed 3.3MB, reported to BT (live chat) who reported there was an 'outage in the area' and that it would be fixed by 6am this morning. Needless to say it has not been fixed and I'm left wondering who to contact to escalate this case. Disappointed would be an understatement. Does anyone have any advice as to next steps as I'm losing the will to live...

    Hi lizziebee,
Welcome to the forum and thanks for posting. Can you try running the speed test, including the further diagnostics, and post the results. What was the estimate whenm you placed the order? Give us as much detail as possible and I'm surer we can help.
    Cheers

  • Telstra Velocity/NBN Super Fast Broadband Add On Error

Have recently moved to a new address with Velocity enabled and the broadband was enabled on Friday. I want to enable the Super Fast Speed Boost and the option is there in my account, however when I go to add it I get an error "Sorry, there is an error while processing your request. Please try again later." Is this just due to the fact the service has to be up and running for a while before I can enable that add-on? Stef

It may be. It can sometimes take a few days for all the systems to talk to each other.
If you want to check if it can be done now, manually, then you could jump on Live Chat and ask them to see if it will go through for them.

  • Have to use TEST socket for fast broadband but ext...

Hi, this is my first post, would be very grateful for any help as I am getting nowhere fast with BT.
Have had broadband here for several years without too much problem until recent months when the speed seemed to be getting slower and slower. I contacted BT on several occasions about this, and tested the equipment, with the upshot that connection is definitely faster IF the phone etc is plugged into the TEST SOCKET. Hurray for that - BUT it means that my (only) extension line upstairs in my house doesn't work (I've tried plugging two different corded phones in, with filters, and there is no dialling tone).
This is really inconvenient and I have contacted BT yet again this morning to be told the same thing, ie test the equipment and it is probably an internal wiring problem. What they don't seem to take on board is that the extension line was fine for ages until I started using the test socket.
    Help someone please! Thank you.

    Hi ConfusedofSurrey and welcome
Is the extension lead exposed or has it been run under floorboards?
Phone wiring has a Bellwire. This makes the old style phones ring. Modern day phones don't need this wire and it WILL slow your connection down. Have a look at http://www.jarviser.co.uk/jarviser/bellwirenutshell.html
Also any extensions WON'T work if you've removed the face plate from the master socket to use the test point as it isolates any other extension wiring.
    Hope this helps.

  • Question about BT "unlimited faster broadband"

We have recently had FTTC availability in our area and my line is quite long, the checker says we can get 9-14mbps down and 800kbps to 1mbps upload. I was wondering if the upload speed is capped at 1mbps on this package or if it will go as fast as it can depending on how fast it is syncing.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

not capped at 1mb but from checker probably will be there or thereabouts
it is basically infinity but because your down speed is less than 15mb you cannot get infinity but can get broadband with fibre

  • Introducing Totally Unlimited Broadband from BT

    Hi all
From today we’re making a few changes to our broadband portfolio – find out more about our new packages here
The biggest change is that some of our Broadband and Infinity packages will now include totally unlimited usage. This means that we are relaxing our traffic management policy and removing P2P restrictions meaning users won’t be slowed down at peak. There will still be services with usage limits for customers who want a lower cost service because they are light Internet users.
The above will apply to those who order packages including totally unlimited BT Total Broadband or totally unlimited BT Infinity from 1st Feb, or existing customers who re-contract to a totally unlimited package. We’ll not be moving over existing unlimited BT Total Broadband or Infinity customers to the new totally unlimited packages but you can request it yourself. It takes 5 days to change over and you’d be re-contracting at the same time.
All existing customers will get access to BT Cloud storage, either 2Gb or 50Gb depending on your package, even if you’re an existing Digital Vault customer. We’ll be closing Digital Vault over the summer so we recommend you switch all your files over to BT Cloud as soon as you can. All BT customers can also get BT Smart Talk free of charge. Smart Talk is an app that allows you to make calls from your mobile at landline rates over WiFi saving money on your mobile bills.
    Cheers

  • Totally Free BroadBand....! After Home Move

Yes that’s right Free Broadband from BT
All you have to do is fill out an online home move request and let BT do the rest.
I moved house a month ago asking to take all my BT package with me, Phone and Option 2 Broadband
I moved next door a distance of 6 feet.
On the  July 29th everything moved across OK, then a few days later I received a final bill and refund for £66 on my account which also included a £30 broadband disconnection fee. why? when all I wanted was a change of address????
So I phone BT (India) after 20 minutes a nice chap answers and I explain as best I can. “I’ll have to speak to manager” he says
The Manager suggested creating a new account number as they couldn't understand why my old account was now closed but I still have all my services running "this will take 48 hrs to take effect" they said.
3 days later I try to log into my account and its still closed.
another call to India after 90 minutes being bounced around from billing back to home move then back to accounts I was sent a sms text with my old account number on it so I could log in and check my bill so I log in and its shows my account is closed…..
I thought… "live chat" that might help maybe I’ll get to talk to someone in the UK
Nope they just said “we need to connect you to billing” back to India I go......
then I phone the BT automated billing service and this tells me I owe £17 and I cant set up a direct debit until this is paid off. Funny I thought my account was closed..?
left it a day and tried again this time I found out they have opened a new account and that’s got £17 on it and is only set up for a phone, no broadband. The chap on the phone said he couldn't trace where my broadband was coming from and that he would phone me back , that was 3 days ago…..
all this time my services have been working fine, phone and broadband, great you might think but I’m an honest person and would like to pay, I even want to upgrade to unlimited BB as I feel that BT provide the most reliable service and I have been with them for 14 years, but it seems impossible for BT to sort there mess out. So at the moment I have decided to just pay the phone bill using my card  (as they have closed the direct debit) and enjoy my free broadband which according to BT comes out of thin air…
If any BT people on here would like the challenge of sorting this mess out I would be very grateful all I’m trying to do is pay you money for the services I’m receiving...
    Best Regards
    Jason

  • Re-contract to TOTALLY Unlimited Broadband

    Hello
I have unlimited broadband and my connection is traffic managed at peak times on certain type of traffic which is annoying. I would like this removed as I've read is possible.
I'm currently on a half price deal with a few months left to run on the discount. Can I recontract now and retain the discount?
I spoke to BT on the phone and the lady didn't really have a clue what I was talking about. I then got hung up on accidentally it seemed.
Is there a better channel to use to get this sorted?
    Thanks.

  • Totally Unlimited Broadband

Just a brief message to get the conversation going.....
This is great news for a lot of us hardcore gamers out there.... However! and its a big However! I think BT are missing the big picture here....
New customers yet again get the best deal out of this, as they can sign up for this as an initial contract; which is acceptable. Existing customers however are getting a raw deal..... we have to re-contract to get this service... What a cheek!
It is clear that to get new contracts out of existing customers and tie us in for yet another eighteen months, they have come up with this "new idea" really! Please! admit it BT.... you have been been found wanting and are now having to compete with other suppliers out there, who are offering this service; as standard.
To be truly competetive and keep customers who are possibly migrating to other suppliers offering "truly unlimited broadband", I would suggest migrating existing customers to " T U B" for free and no extension of their existing contract. If then at the end of the contract, those customers are happy with what they have been experiencing, they can then sign up for another contract......... Another idea to make BT appealing, would be twelve month contracts...
C'mon BT.......... open your ears and start listening to your customers..... after all, we are the life blood of a successful business.

Correct geo. It's not all in BT's favour either - the flip side is that you also keep deals that are downgraded, for example my Sky Sports 1&2 plus ESPN for £15.
