BT Wifi openzone

Hi can anyone tell me please how i can set my wife up with the openzone as currently to use it i have to use my own email and password. Does it allow your family to use this service or is it just for one email only? I can't see it my self as i purchased broadband at home for the family.
I thank anyone who can help
Mark

Only the one e-mai can be used to access it.
Most wifi apps allow you to save the password in a hidden form, so you could always do that.
Som internet browsers also have the facilities to do that as well, so once you have entered the details, they cannot be viewed.

  • Another BT-WiFi login issue

    Hi,
Jeez this is a muddle, what with BT-Wifi, Openzone, FON and a multitude of web pages.
In short I cannot login to BT-Wifi.
I rang 0800 0223322 and took the option to 'Hold' but it just goes 'Clunk'
    So...this is what I know.
I can login to MyBT using my Gmail address   ****@gmail.com, I am sure this is not relevant but have stated it.
If I go t the FON status page it says I am 'Opted In'
And, moreover, I needed to login as **********@btinternet.com to find this out.
I can login to BT email with **********@btinternet.com and read emails.
I actually have an email welcoming me to BT-Wifi !!
    The problem...
If I now go to www.btwifi.com and pick My Account, I am invited to login...so I enter
***********@btinternet.com and my password and I just get  "We don't recognise those details. Please try again"
Haven't even tried on my phone yet.
    Going round in circles

    Welcome to this user forum.
You need to be actually connected to a BT wifi or BT FON hotspot to use your login details, which you will prompted for.
The BT Wifi home page login is for paying customers only, who use a voucher or subscription.

  • BT total broadband option 3 general questions

Potential new customer here but got some questions after speaking to BT customer services who have totally confused me so not exactly a good start.
I am looking at bt total broadband option 3 for 19.99 a month for 3 months and 27.99 there after and would love it if someone could clarify the following.
    1. Does this package really come with unlimited wifi (openzone, fon) as BT customer services told me this is extra?
    2. If I take out the mobile broadband option with 1gb is that a one time offer or do I get 1gb free each month?
    3. If I ever go over the FUP of 300gb is it true my broadband will be throttled for 30 days?
Hopefully someone can clarify these questions for me.
    Happy New Year!!!

    Hi.
AFAIK the "peak times throttling" applies for 30 days, not until the billing start date. See :-

  • Bt Wifi/Fon/Openzone/Roaming clarification

    Hi All,
I just recently got Infinity 2 and HH3 and I want to clarify how the free Bt Wifi works that I get as part of my subscription.
Ther terminology and wording seems a bit different in various places so I wanted to check if someone here can give an official answer.
I undertsand there are 3 types of BT Wifi points:
    1) HomeHubs sharing as FON
    2) "proper" hotspots in some commercial properties (BTOpenzone)
    3) Roaming Wifi partners/companies. (UK ones and abroad?)
I am only interested in using 2) & 3)  Can I turn off the Fon on my HH and achieve that without paying any more money?
Also my HH seems to be transmitting 2 seperate SSIDs "BTWifi" and "BTWifi-with-Fon".  What sort of people can connect to these and why is there 2?
Finally, assuming I can still keep wifi and turn off FON, what is the easiest way to connect to roaming hotspots (probably in EU) form other companies?  Using the BT app for your smart phone?  I guess if I connect to an BT prefixed SSID once and save details that is fine for all other UK based spots with same SSID, but I guess foreign partners will have different SSIDs?

There is an allowable cheat if you want to use the free service but don't want others using your broadband via BT-Fon.  You can replace the HomeHub with a different router that does not support BT-Fon.  Always strikes me as slightly anti-social, but ...
I doubt anyone has ever used my Broadband via Fon other than me in a test.  I've certainly never seen any impact.  I have heard that the download a BT-Fon user can use is quite limited, but that in theory they can use lots of upload.
using another router to receive your broadband is not a cheat just in many cases including my own a better way to improve my connection and maintain a stable line.  I get the benefit of BTWIFI when out and about but I do not benfit like many that use there own BTWIFI connection if they are about to exceed their usage limit
Both are acceptable and are not a cheat
you cannot connect to openzone when outside the UK with your free BTFON

  • BT Openzone wifi . . . works maybe 50% of the time...

I can access a BT Openzone wifi on my Nokia Lumia phone from home, always with a strong signal (probably my own hub) but I can only connect through the App 50% of the time.  Today it doesn't want to connect . . . .  . tomorrow it probably will.  Why is this?

Do you mean when you are away from home or when at home the App won't connect? If it's when you are away from home it could be that the signal from any hotspot is not strong enough. The BTWifi range is very short.
When at home, your home network should take priority and connect before BTWifi.
You don't need to se the App to connect.

  • Using Openzone - wifi hotspots

    Hi,
I can use my Touch on my home network and other people's networks flawlessly - Internet, iTunes etc. etc.
However, I have a subscription to BT Openzone. I can connect to Openzone from the splash page, and it accepts user name and password, giving a message saying 'connected to Openzone'.
However, when I then try to use the internet, it just loads up an Openzone page telling me how long i've been on line for. I can't visit any other sites, or use iTunes, MyTube etc. I have tried opening a new window but get the same screen no matter where I try to navigate to.
Any suggestions for how to get around this would be really appreciated
    Dane

I recently brought this issue up on the BT Openzone forums.
It looks like it is a country wide iPod Touch / BT Openzone issue on the Touch.
This could be a BIG oversight by Apple and needs to be fixed IMMEDIATELY as BT Openzone is in the top 3 Wifi hotspots providers.
Surely, it was tested in the UK by someone somewhere with all the major hotspot providers.
The thread for the issue can be found at the BT forums: http://www.beta.bt.com/bta/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=514

  • Orange Wifi App - BT Openzone

My Orange contract includes BT Openzone Wifi and I have the password etc
However the sites suggest downloading the Orange WiFi app from the Blackberry App Store enhance the experience i.e. to not have to keep tying in a non memorable password everytime and generally struggle.
I can find any such app on Blackberry App World.
Can anyone help me make the experience less painfull ?
Or let me know where I can find the app ?
Or let me know when the app is coming ?
Currently I get the message when in range, chose it, then get taken to BT openzone, then select Orange, then enter the phone number, then go and find the password and cut/paste it into the screen, which then needs to remain open ..... everytime I do it.
Orange informed me that the password should be remembered automatically but can't even get that to happen.
    Help please

  • BT openzone - wifi

Has anyone used BT openzone with their BB?
Just found out we have Option3 on BT broadband and get free unlimited wifi
    in you opt in.
I have not tried it myself, but apparently you have to leave a browser
window open to assist in disconnection from their service.
Just wondering if anyone had experiences of this service.
    Regards,
    Donlad

From what Ive read on the BT website, its nothing but normal wi-fi in many areas.
If you opt in, you agree to share your wireless router's connection to allow other people nearby to connect using Openzone.
If you pay for broadband and have a wireless router, just connect to that.

  • BT Openzone and Wifi offload from mobile operators...

Having recently had confirmation that the BTHH transmits the Openzone SSID, I have just read a post regarding non BT customers using an iPhone to connect to Openzone. Having just looked at a mobile phone providers website it appears that they can indeed connect to BT Openzone.
Therefore just for my own piece of mind - Can non BT customers connect to the BT residential HH or can they only connect to commercial areas (ie a cafe)?
    Thanks

Many thanks and keep up the good work!!
edit. I forgot to write that I am now aware that non BT Customers can log in to BT Fon or BT Openzone by borrowing or in some cases by passing on a BT Customers primary email account and password details (Parent gives details to son/daughter whom have flown the nest (and are supplied by other BB suppliers) and son/daughter passes it on to friends). So my original question still stands apart from this method.

  • Can apple TV link up to BT WIFI/FON/Openzone?

Wondered if anyone can clear up this wee query.
When using my mac and am connected to BT WIFI-FON I am able to open Safari, be taken to the bt homepage and can sign into my BT account from there.
When using apple TV, it can pick up the BT signal and i can connect to it but I can find no way of browsing the homepage to login to my BT account or have any other option.
So the apple TV ends up being connected to BT only to the extent of  username/password level.
    Any thoughts?
    Any help apprecitated,
    Thanks

    Welcome to the Apple community.
Unfortunately if you need to use a web page to log on to the Wi-Fi network then you will be unable to use the Apple TV. The Apple TV does not have a web browser.

  • CANNOT CONNECT TO BT WIFI (BT OPENZONE)

For a couple of days now I have been unable to connect to my BT wifi signal on my iPhone. I have been able to connect to it for years (with the odd blip like this). The weird thing about this time is that it will have the blue tick next to the BT wifi name on my wifi connections showing that it has connected but it will not have the wifi logo at the top of the screen next to my mobile signal. I also cannot get to the login page, on IPHONEs it works that when it connects to the signal (with the little blue tick) a page then automatically loads with the 'login' etc. If that fails then you go onto the safari app and reload the page and it will work. But over the past few days it has come up with either the 'you have lost your BT wifi connection' page (even though when I check the blue tick is still next to BT wifi option on my wifi tab on my phone) or it will be stuck loading and not load at all. 3G still works and I tried to connect my kindle and it doesn't work either on the BT wifi whereas the OWL (Oxford university) page still works fine so it is definatly something wrong with the BT wifi. I have the app and it won't connect either. I have also tried it without the app and it won't work either way.

assuming it is a home hub you would need to get the home owner to reset the hub which he is unlikely to do as his internet connection is probably not affected.
you just have to find another btwifi conenction

  • Make a BTFON and OPENZONE WiFi Receiver! (SIGNAL B...

I dont have broadband, i have a ps3 and cannot get a good enough signal from BTFON in order to connect,
can you imagine what its like for me?.... knowing that if i had 20% more of a signal i could get online with my ps3 and other devices...
i thought BTFON would be my saviour and stop me from having to get a landline but unless BT make some sort of Antenna or Receiver for BTFON im stuck.
i HAVE seen the fonera and fontenna but they are pointless for the user of the BTFON access point (the paying guests like myself).
I guarantee their is loads of people stuck the way that i am, MAKE IT HAPPEN!

The Openzone /FON service is not designed   for  devices like the xbox It's really only  for email and web browsing  as its maximum  download speed of 512k  and is time limited to two hours connection at a time unless you keep reconnecting

  • Wifi Bt Fon or Openzone

Help! We have this 'wonderful new gift from BT...ie take your laptop anywhere and you can access all your data! HUH!
Works in the house, however when I take my laptop to my sons house...(which, according to the map is densely populated with Wifi) and did it work?? NOT LIKELY. Rang BT...go through 10 options to get to speak to a human being and no-one can tell me my...other than asking the obvious...'is it a Wifi area? Did you log in correctly? All patronising questions as usual...but no one can tell me why? Has anyone else had a problem if so please help?

It will work fine in your own house, because you will just be logging on to your own Home Hub.
When out and about, most of the advertised hotspots are just other people's Home Hubs.  At any given time, not all of them will be switched on, and some people won't even be using a Home Hub (in which case, there's no way you can connect).
To make it worse, the WiFi signal only has a limited range.  With my old Hub, you could probably just about pick up the signal if parked immediately outside my house, but if you were the opposite side of the road, the signal would be practically nothing.  But then again, I'm opted out of FON, so you wouldn't be in luck here anyway.
In the end, unless you're in a proper hotspot, such as a coffee house or hotel, then it's pot luck whether or not you'll get a signal.

  • BTFON / Openzone WiFi Hotspot Locations

    Hi,
I'm often out and about with just my car keys and laptop for company.  Having discovered BTFon it's nice to get on the net..... BUT......
I need an internet connection to find where my nearest hotspot is !!!  Is there any software I can load on my laptop to show me the locations?  I believe there's an app for the iPhone, but I don't have an iPhone.
For instance, a map showing the positions of the hotspots when I last was on the net.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks
