My bt yahoo accout was hacked and alll of my contacts are gone.  Is there any way for me to regain control of my e-mail account again and recover my contacts?  I can still sign in and enter but all of my e-mail s are gone as well as my contacts.  How do I recover these things and secure my account against future attacks

I too have just lost every email and contact without any reason. I have never lost anything or had any hacking problems before but this is a nightmare!
I guess that there is little that I can do but surely we should all be warned about this or some better efforts should be made to prevent the problem?
Can anyone help as it seems very difficult to contact anyone at the provider who can help.

Hi. Welcome to the forums.
If I may be brutally honest, how do you mean warned etc ? If a hacker manages to get into anyone's account, there is frankly nothing that can be done after that.
Have you ever responded to an email pretending to be from BT asking for username, password, DoB etc ? These phish emails have been around for a decade or more, and target all the banks, building socities, ISPs and all sorts of (usually) large companies.
Also things like social networking has been used to get user details, and is now apparently one of the first places criminals go to try to get user details. Many people tend to give away DoB, and all sorts of other details, a lot of which can be security answers to questions for logging into websites.
Similarly with various viruses, trojans and spyware - these can pass on user details to hackers if the machine is infected.
Using cyber cafes (some may be dodgy, or have infected computers) could also compromise the user.
It's not only the above for the user to consider, there is also any contacts who themselves had infected computers, or been phished giving details away.

  • Unable to connect to Yahoo account using Contacts and Calendar

For the last week or so, I've been unable to connect to Yahoo's CardDAV or CalDAV servers from Contacts, Calendar, or Reminders. Every time I open either application, it asks for my password, and when I enter it, it says "the server returned an error" and asks for the password again. My Yahoo account still works with Mail and Messages.

Try this, which worked for me:
    - Close Contacts
    - Log into Yahoo.
    - Go to Account Info (usually the gear sing)
    - Under "Sign In And Security Settings" click on "manage apps and webiste connections"
    - Remove/delete all links and connections to your Mac and Contacts.
    - Open contacts.
This worked for me, and I had been struggling with it for about a year.

  • Yahoo Account Hacked - All Mail Deleted - Only mail on phone remains...

One of my yahoo accounts was hacked and all of my mail was deleted. However, all of my mail remains on my iPhone because I used POP3. How do I transfer my mail to my computer?
I would really appreciate any assistance.

Unless there is a 3rd party utility available that provides for transferring email from an account's mailbox to your computer but then the email would need to be imported by an email client and not sure if an email client supports that, you can email each email to yourself.

  • Same iTunes, different iCloud accounts: all contacts lost from one iPhone appeared on the second iPhone

    Hello there.
    Got following situation:
iPhone A - iTunes Store (Apple-ID) account = [email protected] / iCloud account = [email protected]
iPhone B - iTunes Store (Apple-ID) account = [email protected] / iCloud account = [email protected]
Somehow all contacts in iPhone B disappeared and appeared on iPhone A (together with the ones already existing).
    My questions:
    what's the cause of this?
how do I get back (iPhone A with only its original contacts, iPhone B with the "disappeared" contacts)?
After I will have put everything back as it was a couple of days ago, I'd change the iCloud email for iPhone A, so that it doesn't match the Apple-ID anymore: do you think this might help?
    Thanks and regards,
    Flavio.

    Hi there.
Thanks for your reply. Somehow after logging into the iCloud account of "iPhone B", the contacts reappered on the iPhone B itself!!! Weird!
Now, I'd still like to do the change for "iPhone A" and move the iCloud login/account away from the Apple-ID: is this achieved by simply disabling iCloud sync and re-enabling it with a different email address? What about the "old" data which would remain on iCloud? Any way to do a "clean" migration here?
    Thanks and regards,
    F.

  • Mass email sent from my yahoo account

I'm not sure how this happens but would appreciate any advice. I receive my yahoo email on iphone, and all my contacts are on my phone, i.e. I have no contacts on yahoo account. Connected to itunes last night for update, and early this morning someone has sent email to every email address on iphone - apparently I had been mugged in london and needed money to get home. They also hijacked yahoo account, changed security questions, put forward rule on all incoming mail, etc. Luckily I found out within 2 hours, after all my friends were contacting me to see if I was ok. My question is, how does the link happen with yahoo settings and outbound email to contacts on my phone. How do they send email from yahoo account when contacts are on my phone and not on internet account?

For the Yahoo contacts, click on the following link for instructions regarding importing contacts.

Regarding Express mail subfolders, they are not supported at this time.

  • Iphone 4 automatically sending nuisance/ viral e-mail messages from my yahoo account to members of my phone/ e-mail/ facebook contact list. What can I do to stop this?

This has occurred on 2 different occassions. In both cases, I can not identify a viral email that I would have opened that could have started this as we are very cautious about opening unknown emails, and definately NEVER double click on links that come through in nuisance/ spam type e-mails.
This morning was the second time that it appears my iphone was somehow involved in automatically sending out a mass nuisance message to all my contacts (phone contacts/ facebook contacts/ yahoo contacts).  The email contained no message - except for a single link to an unknown destination of course since I refuse to dbl click on it to see what I have sent out to my friends.
This is the second time it has happened. I have posted on facebook to all my friends to not open the message. I have deleted ALL my contacts from both my phone and from yahoo contact list. I even deleted facebook and all it's info. from my phone to remove their contact lists. I don't want this to keep happening to my friends. The only thing I haven't deleted is my phone contacts (phone numbers) but I am assuming it may very well happen again since the automatic message was also sent to my phone contacts. (Not sure how that even happens - an auto email to a phone number?)
I have been reading on this site that it is nearly impossible to get a virus on your iphone - however, what other explanation is there? I don't have a PC - I don't have any Windows products in my home. We own 1 ipad and 2 iphones at the moment. I never access my yahoo account from anywhere but my MAC products.  What is happening and how can it be resolved?
    Thanx!

if it's a message coming from your yahoo account, it means that your account has been compromised, not your phone itself. i would suggest changing the password for your email account

  • I've lost a load of notes, but dont know why or how to get them back. I cant find the folder that is in my Yahoo account that people have suggested might be the location for the messages.  I recently signed into iCloud for the first time.

It should keep asking for the password, because it's trying to check for purchases... As soon as you login, it will see you have pending downloads and create the downloads section on the left below Purchases under the Store section. Then it will start the music downloads there, as they will be listed one below the other.
You could just try to check your account balance or view your account and that will trigger a password request too. You can just click on that and say that now iTunes keeps asking for the password and ask him to help you with that. Trick would be to interrupt him so that he carries on with another task after, so he doesn't notice the download. Or you carry on with email or browsing which you were "busy" with when iTunes interrupted you for the password (stupid iTunes)

  • Contacts/ Yahoo account duplicating

    Hi,
So my problem is that when trying to sync all my contacts (2 yahoo addresses, and an Icloud), only 1 of my yahoo accounts duplicates my contacts- heres the catch though- when checking my actual yahoo account online, there are no duplicates, & when checking in my contacts for just that account, it shows 2 of teh same contact, but I cant delete or merge them, nor are they found as duplicates in the contacts search for duplicates... Any ideas? Ive tried disconnecting my yahoo account and re-syncing, same thing...

Follow up: I spent 45 minutes last night with an Apple tech on the phone. If you have a similar issue, go to iCloud.com and delete duplicates etc THERE. iCloud Contacts is the "root" base. Make SURE that on your other devices iCloud Contacts is your default account. I was using Contacts "on my iMac," then merging and unmerging with iCloud. That is what likely caused my duplicates and corrupted cards.

  • Can't sync contacts with yahoo account (and I do have internet connection!)

When I sync my iPhone 4 with my computer, it says it can't sync with my Yahoo account (as it has been for the past year) because I don't have an internet connection. I have wireless interent connection and I've checked everything - it's hooked up and I've tried to close out programs, restart etc. I have the latest iTunes version on my computer. Thank you for your help in advance...

OK, sounds like you are using Yahoo to store your contacts.  If you're having a problem with this, it is highly likely it is on Yahoo's end since they often have server issues, but two things you can try:
If you're currently on wi-fi, turn that off and see if you can access your contacts via 3G.
Try deleting the Yahoo account off your iPhone and re-create it.
Last week my Yahoo account was acting buggy and didn't get resolved until I did both (turned off wi-fi, then deleted and re-created the account over 3G).

  • My yahoo account was hacked and ipad does not respond

My yahoo account was hacked and cannot get my ipad to accept my account again and new password

The money was stolen off of gift cards stored on my itunes account, and I did close the card on the account. I have changed my infortiona security wide but kept the rest of the changes they made to my account as proof. It has indeed been 48 hours since I conta cted them, and still no response. Also on this forum others have reported the same thing happening. Very sad I cannot even call Itunes about this. Thanks for your response.

  • Aaaah! Someone hacked my yahoo account!

    Hi friends,
I am feeling very vulnerable and powerless at the moment, cause I am almost 100% sure that some bastard just hacked into my yahoo account while I was logging in! :'-((
I typed the id and password, and then an error page came up, saying something like: "Error ... blah... are you trying to log on as " and then my id followed by my password in plain text! I'm sure that I typed in the stuff correctly, and that some cracker stuffed up the yahoo system on purpose, so it would display my password in plain text on the web-page.
I subsequently deleted all my messages and then the account.
I am so upset!!! I feel so vulnerable!
Does anyone know of an alternative free, very secure e-mail option?

  • Synching contact info from yahoo account to ipad

I have tried to synch/add contacts from my yahoo contacts to the ipad and it won't work. I go to settings to safari to autofill and then the on button will not stay on and the contacts page is blank. I can't get anything to appear but empty lines. I have read the manual several times and I still get nowhere. Had no trouble with google mail, but most of my contacts are in my yahoo account,

With your iPad connected to your computer go to the Info Pane and there are check boxes for syncing various items. From page 31 of the iPad Users Guide:
    Contacts
You can sync contacts with applications such as Mac OS X Address Book, Yahoo!
Address Book, and Google Contacts on a Mac, or with Yahoo! Address Book,
Google Contacts, Windows Address Book (Microsoft Outlook Express), Windows
Vista Contacts, or Microsoft Outlook 2003 or 2007 on a PC. (On a Mac, you can sync
contacts with multiple applications. On a PC, you can sync contacts with only one
    application at a time.)
If you sync with Yahoo! Address Book, you only need to click Configure to enter your
new login information when you change your Yahoo! ID or password after you’ve
    set up syncing.
