BT Yahoo mail won't switch to new style when using Firefox

I had to do a re-install as the mother board failed. I use BT Yahoo email. On the home page I get a link "switch to the newest BT Yahoo! Mail". Using I.E. the link makes it change to the new style and I can then make this the home page and it opens in new style every time. Using Firefox nothing happens other than the navigation "click" and a brief flicker and I am still on the old one.

I am glad to hear that your problem has been resolved.

Here are the steps for a doing a clean reinstall for reference.
Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
#*'''Windows:'''
#**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
#**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.

  • "Open link in new tab" not working with Safari and new Yahoo Mail won't open in new tabs.  Yahoo says it is a Safari issue.  I don't think so.

    Any ideas?
Works fine in classic Yahoo mail.  But in the "new" Yahoo mail, there is not even an option to open in new tab when I right click the message to be opened.  Interestingly enough, I can right click open to new tab on any other link on the same page that the emails are listed in.
Anyone encounter this?  Have a solution?
    Thanks.

From your Safari menu bar click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 7 buttons, click Reset.
If that didn't help, try troubleshooting the Safari .plist file.
    Quit Safari.
Open a Finder window. Select your Home Folder in the Sidebar on the left. It has a small house icon. Then open the Library folder then the Preferences folder.
Move the com.apple.Safari.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Desktop. Relaunch Safari. Try Yahoo / tabs. If it functions as it should, move the .plist file to the Trash. Otherwise move it back to the Preferences folder.
And check Safari / Preferences - Extensions. If you have any installed, turn that off, quit then relaunch Safari. Try again.

I get a message from Yahoo telling me that by browser isn't compataible with new Yahoo mail - both in Firefox and Safari browers.

I am therefore being forced to use the old Yahoo mail.

User Library is hidden by default.

  • Now I'm using Yahoo mail as my homepage, but I want to use Firefox as my homepage..

Now I am using Yahoo.mail as my homepage. But I want to use Firefox as my homepage. Would you teach me how to do that?
I am not a computer savy, so would you write the process step by step, please?

I'm assuming you're using Firefox 4.x, if so:
Click the orange Firefox button on the top left
Click Options in the right pane of the menu that comes up
Click the general button in the window that pops up (looks like a switch)
You will see a white line for text entry labelled Home Page:
    Paste this there: http://www.google.com/firefox

  • I need to be able to copy text of a Gmail email I have sent and paste it in a new email when using firefox as my browser

    hi everyone
I recently upgraded to the new firefox version. When using the previous version. i would copy text in emails I had sent and paste it into new emails. It saved me much time>
I am totally unable to do this with the newer version of the browser. There is no edit function on the tool bar that allows me to copy and paste.
any suggestions as to how I can cut and paste or save documents to use over again?
    thanks

Hi, I had the same issue. My solution was to take the freeware-tool clickto.
So I'm now able to take any text, copy it and past it via clickto into a new mail.
[http://www.clicktoapp.com Clickto ]expands your copy-paste feature by showing you some "satellites" after doing the copy action. These "satellites" now will give you some opportunities to paste your copied content, for example a picture to facebook or a text to a new mail on gmail with just 1 single click.

  • E-mail Reply function no longer works -- only when using Firefox. Gives blank compose screen. Have tried settings changes. Have un and re installed firefox.

Problem does not occur when using a different browser.

Is it Yahoo! mail?? Many users have discovered all kind of problems and glitches with Yahoo! mail in Firefox when using an old bookmark saved before Yahoo!'s recent server changes.
I suggest clearing your Yahoo cookies and entering through the main page to get a better address for your current mail server.
To remove your Yahoo cookies -- save any pending work first -- call up the Cookies dialog while viewing any page on yahoo.com (or your Yahoo site). You can use either:
    * right-click the page > View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * Tools menu > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then go to one of these Yahoo addresses and click on login or mail from there:
    * Yahoo home page: https://www.yahoo.com/
    * My Yahoo page: https://my.yahoo.com/
    * General mail redirect: https://mail.yahoo.com/
    * AT&T users: http://att.yahoo.com/
    * Other country sites (not on .com): the main Yahoo page for your country
    Does that help?

  • How do I switch from"Offline Mode" when using Firefox on an android device connected to the internet via Bluetooth.

I have been using my tf300. Everytime I try to open Firefox on the tablet while using a Bluetooth connection, the only screen that Firefox opens is a generic screen displaying "Offline mode". Is there a way to switch it to online mode or am I only able to use the browser on a wifi signal??

I am one of the individuals who use a third-party app to tether internet connection from my phone for my tablet. When using the stock browser, i have no problems, but when i try to use firefox, all the is displayed is an "Offline Mode" screen. This all would not be a problem except for the fact that a bunch of my bookmarks are on Firefox. So how do i switch settings for the pade to be "Online vs. Offline"???

  • Mail won't connect to SMTP server when using wireless instead of ethernet

I receive the following error message ONLY when I am online via a wireless connection, but not when I am online via an ethernet cord:
*This message could not be delivered and will remain in your Outbox until it can be delivered. The connection to the server "smtp.XXXXX.com" on port 2525 timed out.*
(note that XXXX is just the name of my mail server that I've removed for security reasons)
I am able to receive email fine regardless of whether I'm using a wireless or ethernet connection.
Any thoughts? I've occasionally run into this issue before (at coffee shops and such) and think it may have something to do with the type of wireless connection (too weak, low security, other?) I'm particularly stumped about this one though since it's simply the wireless network at my college which has worked fine in the past (though perhaps they did change something?)
    Thanks!

That's because the internet provider whom you are connecting to via wireless is blocking that port/server address as a security measure.
Unless you have an account with whom the host is, you wont be able to send emails...
you could try setting the outgoing port to one of the following you could have some luck, no guarantee's though...
    21, 25, 5521, 5525, 7721, 7725
    hope that works

When using Firefox, Internet explorer sometimes opens the same website or opens up a pop up advertisement.

Do a malware check with a few malware scan programs.
You need to use all programs because each detects different malware.

  • Pop up box in yahoo mail won't close, asks "do you use the yahoo! toolbar on multiple computers?" has option buttons but no response when clicking on anything, pop up box just sits there in the way

whenever I open my yahoo mail when using Firefox, a pop up box appears on the upper left side of the screen, it asks the question "do you use the yahoo! toolbar on multiple computers?" and gives click boxes for "Save to my yahoo ID" and "No thanks, just save to this computer". I get no response to clicking on either box, nor will the pop up close if I click on the "X" in the upper right corner of this pop up. It won't close out and it sits right over the top of the email messages in my inbox. All else seems to work fine, but can't get rid of this pop up box....very annoying.

go mail.yahoo.com as the login entrance for yahoo mail.

  • Mail won't bring in new .mac mail

The application Mail won't bring in new mail but it shows up on .mac webmail. Any suggestions?

Have you confirmed if the account is online?
At the menu bar, go to Mailbox > Online Status. Is "Take (the name of your .Mac account) Online available?
Do you perform manual checks for new mail on occasion? The reason I ask, is your .Mac account included to be automatically checked for new mail?
Since you are accessing your .Mac account as a .Mac account which is really an IMAP type account and behaves in the same way, have you tried using the Rebuild Mailbox function on the account's Inbox mailbox which forces the mailbox to be resynchronized with the server?

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":
    * Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
    * Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

I cannot open my Yahoo Mail but everything else is OK.  When I click Yahoo Mail Icon, I get this error message "Safari Cannot open this page.  Safari can not establish secure connection with Yahoo Mail.

It sounds as though a script on the site, or an advertisement, is not working quite right...
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    (1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
(You also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now")
    (2) Remove the site's cookies using either of these. Save any pending work first.
While viewing a page on the site:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

  • Problems creating a new folder when using webmail

Hi, has anyone else out there encountered problems when trying to create a new folder when using webmail ?
It just seems to create a new folder called 'New Folder' and misses out the step that would normally allow you to rename it to a title of your choice.
A whole list of folders called 'New Folder' is about as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike.
It did used to work as I've used it many times in the past.....but then so did a lot of things before the 'new' and 'improved' version of BT Mail came along.
Any help or suggestions gratefully received (apart from the obvious solution, switch to a mail client).
Maybe it needs flagging to the 'techies'......they must be really busy trying to sort out all the so called teething problems.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

What should happen is that when you click on the + for add a new folder a box should appear, somewhere amongst the folder list. (The list is in alphabetical order so if you have a number of folders previous to the letter N it maybe out of view ) .
The box will have the text " New folder-X," ( see below for the explantion for the -X ) you then delete the text, type in the name you want, hit enter and there it is.
If you don't notice the box, possibly because it's off screen further down the list, you then open and close the list, or log out the next time you view the list it, or they, are simply named New folder.
So you now have umpteen " New folders ", here's how to rename them.
Place your cursor on the word New Folder in your folder list, you will see a little box appear with" New folder-X,"  x being the number of the new folders you have created., eg -0, -1, -2 etc.
Then double click on it, you should then get a larger box with New folder-X.
Delete the text in the box, type in the name you want for the new folder, hit enter there's you newly named folder.
