BT300 Bluetooth Dongle & Snow Leopard (OSX 10.6)

I have the following:
Photosmart 8000
BT300 Bluetooth Dongle, set to Low security
MacBook with Snow Leopard, OS X 10.6
I am trying to use the dongle to print.
I go to the "Setup bluetooth device" assistant.
The dongle shows up as a bluetooth device, HP 8000 Photosmart
I click Setup, the Mac recognises the device and moves to another screen.
The Mac says I should enter "0000" into the dongle to pair it, and also says it is finding additional capabilities of the device.
At that point the Setup Assistant crashes.
The HP8000 exists in the Bluetooth devices list, but is NOT paired, so won't allow printing.
Help?

found a solution... deleted and re-added the printer after setting it up on bluetooth. worked! c5550 10.6.4

Restore the library from Time Machine as shown in this screenshot:
Then open the library with iPhoto.  No importing necessary.

  • I have leopard 10.5 and i want snow leopard osx 10.6

i have leopard 10.5 and i want snow leopard osx 10.6

To upgrade from OS X 10.5.8, you must first buy Snow Leopard by calling the phone number in the Apple Online Store: 800-MY-APPLE (in the US). Snow Leopard costs $20, or $30 for a five user license. Do not obtain Snow Leopard from any source other than Apple.
Make sure your system meets Snow Leopard's requirements:
Mac OS X 10.6 "Snow Leopard" System Requirements
To install Snow Leopard for the first time, you must have a Mac with:
    An Intel processor
An internal or external DVD drive, or DVD or CD Sharing
At least 1 GB of memory (RAM) (additional RAM is recommended)
A built-in display or a display connected to an Apple-supplied video card supported by your computer
At least 5 GB of disk space available, or 7 GB of disk space if you install the developer tools
After you install Snow Leopard you can decide if you want to upgrade OS X to the latest version, Mountain Lion. Mountain Lion is available in the Mac App Store, which is available to you after upgrading to Snow Leopard.

  • ITunes latest update 10.5 affects Snow Leopard OSX 10.6.8

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)I have a couple year old Macbok pro with Intel Processor. I am running the latest version of Snow Leopard 10.6.8.  After updating to the new iTunes version 10.5, two of my three USB Jump drives would no longer function. The INFO showed I had about 50% of the space still available. Errors included "out of available space and somrthing about corrupt data. After spending hours on the phone with Apple Support, I ended up reinstalling the OSX Operating System This did not fix the problem. Turns out my third jump drive worked just fine. The difference between the jump drives was the first two were formatted FAT16. The third was formatted FAT32. After using the OSX Disc Utility to reprogram the first two drives to FAT32 they worked just fine. SO BEWARE!! The iTunes update to 10 seems to have affected the OSX Operating System compatability and now FAT32 is required. I am not a very experienced Mac User so perhaps there will be some posts about this that will explain what may really be happening here.

This is one of the most confusing problems I have ever read.
First you say you have upgraded from 10.5 (Leopard) to 10.6 (Snow Leopard).
Then you say that "About this Mac" says you have 10.9.1 (Mavericks).
Then you again say you upgraded from 10.5 to 10.6.
The only thing that seems to make sense of this, and what I suspect is you got confused, thought you had 10.5/10.6 and borked your Safari install by running an old updater for Safari 5.
That, or you have an old copy of Safari sitting somewhere, and you are trying to run that instead of the one in the Applications folder.
v5.1.10 is the last version of Safari for 10.6 (Snow Leopard), though some dev previews of 6 could be installed.
v6.1.1 is the current version for OS X 10.7 (Lion) and 10.8 (Mountain Lion).
v7.0.1 is the current version and it requires OS X 10.9 (Mavericks).

  • Getting SSH to work on Snow Leopard (OSX 10.6.x)

Im a recent mac indoctrinite (love my Windows 7 and linux but this is best of both worlds) and wanted to share with you guys the way to get ssh "listening" on your Snow Leopard System (as it seems there are some Mac Zealot crack babies out there that cant write simple clear cut directions)..
    Hope this helps someone
    1. Open Terminal
    2. vi /etc/sshd_config (use whatever editor makes you happy. vi is fastest)
    3. I have the following uncommented on my machine:
Port 2233 # (means ssh will listen on port 2233 instead of 22 default)
    AddressFamily any
    ListenAddress 0.0.0.0
(feel free to adjust as needed)
    4. Also make sure the following are UNCOMMENTED:
PermitRootLogin yes #(only if not in production though)
    RSAAuthentication yes
    PubkeyAuthentication yes
    AuthorizedKeysFile .ssh/authorized_keys
    PasswordAuthentication yes
    X11Forwarding yes
    5. Now vi /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/ssh.plist (or use whatever editor you like)
    6. Change <key>Disabled</key> to Enabled
    7. Change <string> (under Label) to local.sshd
    8. Go down to the line that says SockServiceName .. now the next like (that says string) change to "ssh-batman" (or whatever you want that is unique.. i like batman)
    9. Ok save and exit file..
    10. Now vi /etc/services and add the following lines to the bottom:
    ssh-batman 2233/udp # batmans SSH listening port
    ssh-batman 2233/tcp # batmans SSH listening port
    11. Save and exit file.
    12. Finally start and stop the launchDaemons service which controls connections to SSHD (this is the mac osx equiv to inetd/xinetd in linux land)
launchctl unload /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/ssh.plist (ignore any errors)
    launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/ssh.plist
    13. Now if you type "netstat -na | grep LIST" you should see something like the following:
    tcp4 0 0 *.2233 . LISTEN
    tcp6 0 0 *.2233 . LISTEN
VOILA!! Magnifique no?? now if you use:
    ssh -p 2233 127.0.0.1
SSH WORKS AS IT SHOULD AND THE WORLD IS GOLD AND GOOD!
    Cheers everyone.. hope this helps!

When i looked at your steps, it seems that the manual process I put together seems to activate it (as it seems its checked).
Those steps are more or less accurate if you wanted to run sshd on a non-standard port.
This is what im talking about thou.. Instead of being able to find people like you who are clear and to the point, i find a bunch of J** offs who couldnt write out what should have been a simple process and I had to struggle..
For some time now the internet has ceased to be a source of valid information. It is there, but you have to be able to sort through the more common misinformation. Someone puts up a blog post in 2006 and it causes no end of frustration when people can't get it to work today. For example, step #6 above is not quite accurate. To set or unset the disabled flag, use the '-w" parameter on launchctl instead.
I definately hope this post circulates. Snow Leopard is a KILLER operating system even for experienced sys admins. I think we will see a lot of Windows - SL migrations in the next year here.
I'm glad you like it. There are an awful lot of people who are switching to the Mac and don't seem too happy about it. It is good to be one of those who can embrace the change

  • LightRoom CRASHING on Snow Leopard OSX 10.6

Updated to Snow Leopard and LightRoom has become very unstable, It crashes if I try to update a folder location, exporting to web, etc
Is anyone else going through this? any updates/fixes on the way?
I tried 32b and 64b, I reinstalled LR but nothing helps... I will have to get my old XP PC up and running on a demo version of LR to meet deadlines.

You can have the images on a remote drive, just keep the catalog/previews local.
I finally got it to work, I "formated" my MBP and installed OSX 10.6 from scratch (you have to erase the harddrive) once its installed DONT RESTORE from a timemachine backup.
So I had to re-install every piece of software and hunt all my serial/activation codes. I did copy my data manually from the TimeMachine backup drive. But this was a half-day event to get this working...
I also copied my LightRoom presets back so it wasnt their fault.
Apple sure is taking a step back on this release of OSX, reminds me of the early Vista days....
    Anyway Peace!

  • Stereo Bluetooth w/ Snow Leopard and MacBook Air

I just bought a Plantronics Voyager 855 stereo bluetooth headset to use with my iPhone and I would like to use it with my MacBook Air as well. Is it compatible with the MBA 1.1 and Snow Leopard?

my jbl bluetooth stereo headphones no longer have stereo sound but now have only mono since upgrade/ download of snow leopard. they sounded really great for months prior to the upgrade to snow leopard. i have a new imac and paired and repaired the device and still only mono sound.
what gives? sort of a huge disappointment since i listen to a lot of music on youtube and internet radio. seems like a downgrade to me. if i knew this i would have never upgraded to snow leopard.

  • Mail will not delete content of RSS feed in Snow Leopard OSX Mail Update

I have 2 RSS feeds that subscribe to in Safari and read in Mail. When I delete a link in the feed in Mail and they go to the Trash - all of the links reappear when I relaunch Mail ... the same link reappears in the RSS feed. I have deleted the links, quit Mail, re-subscribed to the RSS feed in Safari - but it still happens. It is as if you can never delete the links in the RSS feed. Did not have this problem prior to updating to Snow Leopard. Anyone know whey that is? Or is the RSS feature in Safari just poorly designed and inadequate?

  • Nokia E71 plugin incompatible with iSync 3.1.0 / Snow Leopard (OSX 10.6.1)

After upgrading to Snow Leopard the calendar sync has stopped working towards my Nokia E71.
However, when disabling the calendar sync option , the contacts are syncing just fine.
I wonder if there'll be a fix for this in the near future? When contacting Nokia support, they tell me to contact Apple, because Apple are making the E71 plugins for iSync.... (is this really true?)
Have tried "everything" in the Apple support site. The only result from that was that after resetting the sync preferences via Sync Diagnostics, the whole sync process crashes midway.

It's more than likely some corruption has occurred in one or more of your calendars. iSync Plugins that worked in Leopard should continue to work in Snow Leopard.
Only sync individual calendars until you find the one that causes the sync to fail. Then export that calendar from iCal (File > Export), delete it from iCal and re-import (double click the exported .ics file). This often fixes corrupt calendars.
Apple are making the E71 plugins for iSync.... (is this really true?)
No. Nokia make the plugins that they provide from their site. Apple make the iSync application.

  • Why can't I reinstall my iLife suite of apps on my Mac Mini after having reinstalled Snow Leopard OSX?

Unfortunately my Mac Mini I use for audio production work and web design got slower and slower until one day it just gave up! I blame the internet for this, as before I started using the internet on this computer it was fine, nice and fast without any problems.
I tried reinstalling just the OSX but that didn't work, so I ended up erasing the disk with a full 35-pass option which failed itself after the eleventh pass, but it had still done what I wanted and completely erased the hardisk, so I wasn't bothered. However, now in Utilities, it wasn't finding any hardisk!!! I powered off and thankfully this time the disk was showing and so I tried installing the OSX again and this time it worked!
Next it was time to reinstall iLife that had come with the Mac Mini. No chance! Same error message every time to contact the software manufacturer!!! I've read on the communities that after 2012 this version of iLife apparently doesn't work. Is this true? If so then Apple is ripping customers off. Why should we have to keep upgrading all the time? As the old saying goes, "if it ain't broken, don't fix it!" If this is true that iLife won't work after 2012 then basically Apple is saying that its products are so crap that they won't work after a few years!! Surely not. I've also read in the communities that one person had to pay another $18 out for an iLife suite that works, what crap! Whatever came with the computer should work with the computer and not be limited to just a few years life and we shouldn't have to pay out for another disc when the original has be kept securely in its original packaging! I have an old Windows XP PC which is still going strong today and up until a year ago I had an old Windows 3.1 PC which was still working 22 years after purchase and I still had occasional tasks to carry out on it at DOS level!!
So I'm beginning to wonder whether I should go back to PCs if Apple computers have such a limited lifespan.
I look forward to your comments.

    Processor = 2.4GHz Intel  Core 2 Duo
Within seconds of selecting the disk and clicking on the install button the following error message comes up:
    The installation failed.
    An unknown installation error occurred.

  • I made a duplicate copy of an imovie HD project and when I updated the titles on the copy, the video stuttered . I'm using Snow Leopard OSX. The length of the movie increased unexpedtedly too.

I made a duplicate  of an imovie HD project so I could have two different versions. I tried making the copies both by using File> Duplicate and the Save As command in imovie.
When I changed the title on the copy, the video stuttered when I played it back.  Also the overall length of the movie increased by about 6 seconds throwing off some sync even though the replacement title was exactly the same length in seconds and frames as the one I replaced.
any thoughts how to fix this?
    I'm using OSX 10.6.8.
    thanks.

    *24 December 2009*
    *Dear Mac Users:*
Hello. Thanks to AppleMan1958 for answering my question about how to edit an iMovie project
    on another computer.
Here is a question related to the process of transferring the iMovie '09 project file from my friend's
computer to an external drive so that I can edit that project in iMovie '09 on my MacBook Pro:
How do I know if my Smart Disk FireLite portable external drive is formatted to MAC OS X Extended (journaled)? How I do format this Smart Disk FireLite USBFLB80C to MAC OS X Extended (journaled)?
When I connect the Smart Disk FireLite to my MacBook Pro via USB, open iMovie '09, and select View
Events By Disk or rather "Group Events By Disk," an icon for the FireLite external drive appears, but there is a yellow triangle with a black exclamation mark on the icon for the external drive. What does this "warning" mean? There are MP3s of music on the same external drive and they open just fine in iTunes. The one iMovie project file that is already on the drive will not open up in iMovie.
So, how do I properly format this external drive in order to transfer an iMovie project file from my friend's computer so that I can edit it on my MacBook Pro using iMovie '09?
    Sincerely,
    Corey

  • Accessing the device discovery options for bluetooth in snow leopard?

    This menu linked below.
    http://www.gamermade.com/images/toastman/macx_anydevice.jpg
I cannot find this screen in the setup assistant anywhere and I NEED it to set up my Microsoft Mouse 8000. Instead of this screen it automatically grabs detected devices and goes with it so I cannot specify the "Any Device" parameter. I'm going nutzo here!

But thats just it! When I click specify device I get no menu of options, just a text field for specific bluetooth IDs. THis is why I am going crazy. Everyone else gets the menu items when they click but not me....
