BToes Dongle problem

Hi - new poster, so hello all!
I currently have a BToes MSI 6970 dongle.  Have used it OK in the past, but haven't used it for a few months.
When I insert it now, I do not get a blue connectivity light.  Any ideas?  Is it now faulty?
I have reinstalled the software and drivers.
Cheers
Paul

Hi.  Yes, I've tried my other ports, and still get the same problem.  However, I can use other items fine.
Will be trying another pc later tonight.

  • BToes USB problem

    Hi,
I have purchased the MSI BToes Bluetooth Dongle and tried to install.
But the device doesn't work. It works only few seconds (if transmitting data or using it actively) and then stops. I think, that the problem is USB, I have same problem when transferring data from my Minolta Dimage Xt camera. Maybe these devices are too new for my old computer. But my ASUS MyPal A600 works good.
AMD Duron 750 (I know, crap)
    VIA KT7 mainboard
VIA 3038 Universal Host Controller (USB 1.1)
    Windows Millenium Edition
Any idea to solve this problem?
    Thanks

Well, I think i´ve solved the problem. To get the com-ports to work I installed the software. Then I had a problem to get the phone to communicate with Sony Ericssons synk-software and outlook, but suddenly it worked and has worked since then. I have no idea what the problem was but now it works and I´m satisfied.

  • Dongle problem

I recently bought Huawei E586E device so that i could use my mini iPad away from wifi hotspots but I am having problems fully connecting it to to my desktop and tablet. Now I realise there are two stages to connecting, one of which involves using the supplied key .This part worked fine and the network appears at the top where the wiFi icon is ,its the next part i am having problems with.
I disconnected the internet cable and changed the network to the one pertaining to the dongle called My Broadband (with some number and letters).A window appeared with admin in one box and blank box requiring a password .I typed admin in that box and was taken to a Connection status window where i pressed Connect button. The window on my dongle then showed what looked like a dongle  icon with signals coming out but they were repeatedly rebuffed by a large X., so no connection.Same thing with my iPad .Question is am i doing something wrong in the setting up process or is it possible the signal is too weak were i live ? I cant think its the latter because the signal icon appears strong at the top of my desktop.I would appreciate some advice , thanks

You might find some help if Huawei has web forums on their support site.

  • BToes license problem

I've got the BToes USB Bluetooth dongle. I have tried installing the software from the CD, and the 1.4.3.4 driver from the MSI website. Each time, it installs and then shows the red icon in the system tray, signifying that bluetooth is not working.
I click on the tray icon and select 'start using bluetooth' and it comes up saying:
"Your Bluetooth Software license does not include use with this bluetooth device. [6]"
Then it asks me to locate a license.dat file. I have looked at the manual which has no explanation of this, and I have looked at a PDF install guide I found somewhere (albeit incomplete). The install guide mentioned something about entering a serial number. I was never asked for any serial number by any program. What am I doing wrong?
Why on earth does a usb bluetooth dongle need a serial number? It's one thing having to jump through hoops for software manufacturers to enter serial numbers to show it's not copied... But how can you copy or pirate hardware?? This is insane. I mean, I liked MSI, I have an MSI mobo and graphics card, but I am certain I won't be buying from them again after this charade.
    Any help?

    Dear Sir/Madam,
Thanks for you contacting MSI technical support.
To upgrade you Bluetooth device with BD Address, you need to get security key from Widcomm (Broadcom) web. Though we are sorry Broadcom suddenly shutdown the registry web without notice. MicroStar is contacting Broadcom to resolve this issue. Please kindly download driver 1.3.1 to install from MSI website:
    http://www.msi.com.tw/html/active/2004/widcomm/bluetooth_v1.3.1.zip
This version (1.3.1) will not check security code, but do not support HID function. Please notes MSI web for further information. Your patience is highly appreciated. If you still have any question, please feel free to let us know.

  • BlueTooth USB dongle problem

    Hello,
I have a problem with my BlueTooth USB dongle
    OS: Win98
    Drivers: latest 1.4.2.10
When I setup a connection the following error occurs:
ERROR: Unable to start the BlueTooth stack service
Can anyone tell me how to solve this problem??
    Andries

No configuration or modification of system files is required. If the USB Bluetooth dongle is Mac compatible, just plug it in and open the Bluetooth system preferences pane.
Not all USB Bluetooth dongles are fully Mac compatible.

  • Mavericks mobile internet dongle problems

    Hi all,
I wonder if you could help me with a major problem. I installed mavericks on the day of release. Since then my e353 3 internet dongle has stopped working. When i launch the connection software this crashes and then i get an error page. If there is a fix out there can anyone help me? If not can i go back to 10.8 and how do i do this?
I would greatly appreciate any help anyone can give me.
    Many thanks in advance
    Simon

USB network devices are to be avoided, if possible. They depend on complex third-party software that's often of poor quality and is prone to cause system instability. The software is rarely, if ever, updated, and may stop working entirely when OS X is updated. Use a mobile Wi-Fi or Bluetooth hotspot, either a mobile phone or a dedicated device — no software needed.

  • Internet disappears when installing MSI Btoes bluetooth dongle

Many apologies if this is covered elsewhere, I've searched around for a while without success.
I have a Nokia 6600, and bought and installed a Btoes dongle. I can't make it work with Nokia PC Suite, but that's by the by, because far more seriously the installation somehow disabled my internet connection, and the network connection with another computer that was networked to the main one. I'm using XP.
I'm rather desperate to restore my internet connection so that I can properly research how to make PC Suite work, and indeed for all the other reasons I use the net.
IT, networks, computers and the like are not my thing at all, so your patience is really appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Go to Control Panel / Network connections / Network setup Wizard and choose again which one connection should be used as your network (internet) connection.

  • BTOES Security Key Help!

I recently re-installed my BToes Dongle Software and suddenly when I tried to get the security key from MSI Website (http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/communication/cmu/pro_cmu_registry.php ),  I keep on getting this message:
    Dear customer:
According to the BD address, your device is not from MSI.
Please kindly double confirm and retry it.
    Regards,
    MicroStar
I emailed tech support buy their response was to get the security key from Widcomm (Broadcom) website.  They said Widcomm suddenly shutdown the registry web without notice.  So how can I get it from widcomm if they shutdown the registry website? Any help is highly appreciated!
    Regards,

    Hi ,
I have the same problems as you do.
Can't MSI do something about it ?
I send mails over and over and i just get this first reaction by an automated
process telling me how to get the adress .
I know very well what my address is , since i recorded it on the device itself.
And i do know how to use this stupid programs to find it.
When i reinstalled windows i lost a file with the code in it, no problem i thought... Just go to website and fill in the boxes...
I typed the address in the website u mentioned on msi-site and the one that is not working from widdcom and it just telling me that it is not a MSI produkt..
Now do we need to come to ur place and show the mofo bluetooth device with huge letters on it saying MSI !!!!!!!!!!!!??????!!!!!!
Is this the way u deal with ur customers ?
As i am entitled to have a good working device, i like to sue the MSI company, who's with me ?
Can anyone tell me if this support is always like this ?
Where can i send a bill for my waste hours ?
    HOW do i get the security-code ??
Update: since installing driver for sp2 and bluetooth software 1.4.3 it did find the dongle and adress. Now after a few reboots it wont find the device either, while it is installed and working oke on windowssoftware builtin the XP sp2.
So how am i going to find the address now ? Well i got it written lucky me..
now all i need is this security code.....
I was planning on using software 1.3.1 coz it dont ask for a key. Does this work in windows xp sp2 and do i need the new driver ?

I have just bought the MSI BToes Bluetooth Dongle and when i tried to install it, it kept saying that the device cannot be found, i downloaded the latest driver and software and that installed it fine. • Sony Ericcson SP2 Solved:

I have sorted out how to connect my MSI BToes Dongle to work in XP SP2 with my Sony Ericcson s700i.
Remove 'ALL' software that has anything to do with MSI Dongle and SE Suite, Reebot: When new hardware pops up 'INSTALL ONLY'  "btdongle_winwp_sp2" drivers ONLY. Do NOT install  "msi_bluetooth_software1.3.3.4" by any means!  Load and Install SE PC Suite, Reboot and all shall work - believe me. REASON WinXP SP2 has Bluetooth sorted.

I dont have the same problem with my K750i. I had a power problem with the USB cable that I fixed with this:
    http://www-users.kawo2.rwth-aachen.de/%7erazzfazz/k750igrabber/
I am using BT to transfer pix to my Mac, but I tested that I can see everything with my USB cable with no problem. I noticed with Windows I see only the pictures that are in the default folder, not the ones that I created later. So maybe you should try to move them around and test to put them in your phone memory and/or the duo card. Just a suggestion..

  • New Version 4.0 Bluetooth Software (SP2)

Found the following news.  As stated it works under SP2 as well.  Will owners of the Btoes Dongle be getting this update?  Maybie a mod, admin or someone from MSI can answer this.
    Quote
Broadcom® Upgrades Market Leading WIDCOMM® Bluetooth® Software With Enhanced Security, CD-Like Wireless Stereo Sound and New Profiles
New Release of Industry's Most Widely Deployed Bluetooth Software Also Features Support for Microsoft® Windows XP®-SP2
IRVINE, Calif., Nov 1, 2004 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Broadcom Corporation (Nasdaq: BRCM), a leading provider of highly integrated semiconductor solutions enabling broadband communications, today announced WIDCOMM® BTW 4.0, the new release of its popular Bluetooth® software, enhancing security and adding advanced audio/video (A/V) capabilities to the industry's most widely adopted Bluetooth software. The new software was tailored and optimized for seamless integration with Broadcom® single-chip Bluetooth solutions and enhanced with important security upgrades for enterprise and small office customers. It was also tested and qualified for native support and seamless operation with Microsoft's recently announced Service Pack 2 upgrade for the Windows XP® operating system (Windows XP-SP2).
Wireless, high quality stereo audio headsets and speakers enabled by the new WIDCOMM BTW (Bluetooth for Windows) 4.0 software is an exciting new application expected to drive widespread Bluetooth adoption for consumers over the coming years. A/V enhancements built into BTW 4.0 software will bring a new level of audio quality to wireless headsets, enabling a generation of products capable of delivering CD-like stereo sound without the need for wires. The same A/V Bluetooth profile support can be expected to appear in upcoming consumer electronics products like MP3 players, cellular phones, PDAs, and other appliances.
"BTW 4.0 answers two distinct needs in the Bluetooth space: enhanced security, and the ability to effectively stream high-quality audio to wireless headphones or speakers. It is changing the dynamics of how consumers will experience multimedia content on their PCs," said Ron Wong, Senior Product Line Manager for Broadcom's Bluetooth software products. "Broadcom's unique ability to design and deliver all the critical technology pieces for next-generation wireless electronic devices enables our partners to bring products to market quickly and with features that hold great appeal for consumer markets."
    BTW 4.0 Enhances Security
Bluetooth has established itself as the clear wireless PAN (Personal Area Network) technology of choice in large corporations as well as small and home office environments. Leading PC OEMs are already shipping Bluetooth in a large number of their commercial notebook PCs and are expecting continuous growth and accelerated adoption into 2005. With this rapid adoption, large enterprises have expressed growing concerns over security and software virus spreads. The new WIDCOMM BTW4.0 software incorporates enhanced security capability to help address these concerns. Broadcom implemented unique software functionality and tested it to ensure a higher level of security, to meet the expectations of the most demanding customers and bolster the software against malicious attacks.
    New Software Transforms A/V
PC OEMs have come to appreciate the flexibility of embedding Bluetooth into their desktop and notebook computers to connect wirelessly with mobile phones and PDAs. Wireless mice and keyboards are taking advantage of the technology as well, offering valuable freedom and convenience to consumers. These same advantages are now enabled for stereo headsets and speakers with Broadcom's new BTW 4.0 software. Wireless headsets or speakers enabled with Broadcom Bluetooth technology can stream high quality sound while also performing remote control functions such as pausing or stopping play, and selecting tracks. In addition, consumers can place wireless speakers in all corners of the room, enabling enhanced sound and audio distribution for DVD and CD playback.
    New Features and Profiles
Broadcom's WIDCOMM BTW 4.0 incorporates the latest software "profiles," which ensure a common set of features between two Bluetooth devices. Bluetooth profiles are developed and standardized through the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG). BTW 4.0 features many of the latest profiles, which provide advanced multimedia capabilities including:
         *  GAVDP -- Generic Audio Video Distribution Profile
         *  A2DP -- Advanced Audio Distribution Profile
         *  AVRCP -- Audio Video Remote Control Profile
BTW 4.0 also supports the Basic Imaging Profile, which provides the ability to "push" and "pull" images wirelessly between a mobile phone or digital camera and a PC. In addition, the new software release was designed to work seamlessly with Broadcom's BCM2035 and BCM2045 single-chip Bluetooth solutions. It was tested and qualified to work seamlessly with Microsoft's latest operating system update, Windows XP-SP2, thereby ensuring forward compatibility to PC OEMs and end-users as they upgrade to this latest operating system.
End users can be assured that as increasingly advanced Bluetooth A/V applications gain adoption, Broadcom's BTW software will enable a richer and more secure user experience.
    Availability
Broadcom's WIDCOMM BTW 4.0 software is currently shipping to Broadcom's early access partners.

  • How do I finish install

    Morning,
I've installed lion on my laptop with just dongle problems at the moment.
I've now downloaded it onto my iMac. However, I didn't have time to reboot and let the software finish installing onto my iMac.
Where do I go to get the software to complete installation? If I go back to the app store it says that it is installed, but of course, the installation onto the iMac hasn't finished and is still on Snow Leopard.
