BTSport and Sky Multiroom

BT Sport is working fine on the main box but I am not getting a signal on my Multiroom box. The second box is giving the usual message about contacting the provider for an upgrade. Should this be the case? I had expected the subscription to flow through to both boxes automatically just like all other channels. Thanks.

Surely it would be beneficial to BT Sport to be available as much as possible right now. I have the same problem with multi-room and contacted Sky regarding it, they informed me that as it was a third party subscription service they were unable to provide the channels to my other room and suggested I contact BT about it. BT don't seem to have much information regarding the issue and as to whether they are able to provide it for free to my other room or charge me another £12 a month for the privilege.

  • Lag between Sky +HD box and Sky Multiroom box

I've just started using a +HD box on our main TV and a standard non-HD Multiroom box in the kitchen. Yesterday we started noticing a time lag between the two of them whereas before we had the HD box, it was fine. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

Nick180 wrote: ...........Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem.  It's not a problem.  There is substantially more data to be processed ,  from playout,  through satellite,  then down to your Sky box and tv,  with an HD broadcast than with the same  SD broadcast.  Usually takes a second or two longer.  As Mark says,  it's perfectly normal.

  • BT Sport with Sky Multiroom

So the nice man I just phoned at BT tells me that BT Sport isn't available on sky multiroom. I thought he was kidding. I've got BT Broadband, (Unfortunately - Most reliable Internet connetion my left bum cheek) so the service should be free anyway. Alas, I even offered to pay for the additional box to be registered but apparently it can't be done. So can someone explain what the technical reason for this is? It's hardly an uncommon set up for a household to have more than one sky box, so surely this problem was not an oversight? I half expected it to be a money spinner for BT but for once I couldn't even pay you for your poor service.
In any case, you've given me the choice of watching the Liverpool game over your dreadful internet connection or the pain of watching Celtic with my dad in the living room. Saturday ruined.

It's BT's choice not to offer Multiroom, not Sky. Sky do after all
If BT's excuse is that it's too expensive, they should levy a charge so they break even - simples.
It's not BT's choice. A commercial agreement is needed and one cannot be reached at a price that makes economic sense.
BTW "simples" just makes you sound like an idiot.  Have you ever thought of trying to act and speak like an adult?
Of course one could be reached if BT had the will to do it. It would obviously cheaper than a full 2nd package which BT have also failed to offer.
BTW an ad hominem attack is the last resort of a lost argument
In this case it's just a matter of finding people who quote a puppet from a TV advert in the mistaken belief that it makes them sound clever or pithy, ever so slightly immature and shallow. You're one of about a million posters who do it across the web, there's nothing profound, wise, sassy, original, or witty about it.
A deal has not been reached because the negotiations have failed to produce a price BT are happy with.
That might change, but it also might not and people may find that this is one of those instances in life where stomping feet, posting stroppiness on forums and threatening to go elsewhere won't produce the result they want.
As for a second subscription, without the access to Sky's multiroom authentication system there's no way BT could be sure the second cards were being used in the addresses they're registered to. There's zip reason for them to take the chance.

  • BTSport on Sky - BT Broken Promises.

My daughter &  family have shared our home for 17 years.   We have Two separate BT accounts, Two Telephone numbers, Two BT Infinity packages and both pay by DD monthly.  We also have Two Sky Viewing cards.
My Account  -   I registered for FREE BTSport and entered into a new 12 months Broadband and Calls package which started on the 29th July 2013 and BT Sport was activated on 1st August. I have received written confirmation from BT for both services.
Daughters Account - Tried to register her account ( Different Account number, telephone number, Direct Debit details, and SKY viewing card ) since 29th July and was regularly transferred over the next 10 days to Customer Services, BT Sport, Complaints, Broadband,  Viewing, and the Technical Team. The shortest call was 35 minutes and 3 calls over 60 minutes - cut off TWICE whilst waiting for yet another transfer.  My current monthly telephone bill shows I have been charged for contacting BT on 4 occasions.!!   After I sent an e-mail to Complaints on 6th August,  BTSport was activated on the 9th August and is still active.
My Account  -  Still working up to 11th August when I went on Holiday. Returned on 17th August , NO BTSport but message reading "Call the broadcaster to upgrade etc". Rang BT who promised a Manager would rectify this and would call me back within 2 hours, No one did. Sent an E-mail with the same Incident number to complaints on Saturday evening. No acknowledgement.   Yesterday contacted accounts re possible termination of our contracts. Initial contact Susan assured me this would definately be sorted and said she had referred the matter to Gemma, her level 1 manager who would find out where the problem lay and she would ring me back within 2 hours!! Guess what no contact.
Sent another e-mail today but again no reply.
I have been a customer of BT continuously since 1958 and it is the last resort for me to seek another provider.
BT accept BTSport should be available on both Accounts but seem unable to do it,
Can anyone suggest what else I can do

No we have 2 Accounts, 2 DD monthly payments, 2 telephone numbers, and 2 Sky viewing cards. We have both received letters, mine on 29th July and my daughter on 8th August confirming the free BT SPort pack.
BT agree we should have FREE BT Sport on both Accounts but technically seem unable to sort this. This morning I received a bill of £29 for setting up and one months rental for BTSport for a completely new Account.  I rang BT who asked me if I wanted to cancel this new Account otherwise if I did not pay the Bill would be sent to Debt Collectors.  I was asked to hold whilst they contacted the relevant Dept to sort this out. I hung on for 50 mins and then was cut off.

  • Can anyone help with iPlayer and Sky Mobile?

Ok, I'm so close to giving up with this useless phone. There are 3 apps on my N97 which give me a constant headache.
    BBC iPlayer
    Sky Mobile*
    YouTube
*I should point out that I only use Sky Mobile to set recordings on my Sky+. I do not use it for, nor have any desire to use it for actually watching Mobile TV.
All of these apps work absolutely fine over my home WiFi network. It's when I try to use them over 3G (my Vodafone Live! connection) that I start running in to trouble.
All 3 give me connection problems, errors, and simply refuse to load half the time when on 3G. I got so annoyed I just did a hard reset the other week, and magically all three started working again. However, now 2 of them are failing me again. YouTube (touch wood) is working fine at the moment, but iPlayer and Sky Mobile just aren't.
iPlayer sometimes works. But sometimes I get script errors (unable to load content), and sometimes it says something about checking my connection settings. I wouldn't mind but it's not actually possible to access any options for the iPlayer. Even in application settings there are no options you're able to set.
Sky Mobile simply flat out refuses to work ever on 3G. But it did after I did a hard reset for a couple of weeks, now it just stopped working! It wont even load. It just gives the error message 'Unable to connect to network - please check connection settings" or something along those lines.
I've tried so many different things. Tried setting my internet connections to 'always ask', tried setting it to default to Vodafone Live! all the time, tried setting my video streaming settings to WAP, all sorts. Every combination I can think of.
I just can't wait to get rid of this phone. I've put so many people off buying one. They see it and think it's all swish and cool, and I just say 'Don't. You'll regret it'. I can't wait for my contract to be up so I can upgrade to an iPhone now Vodafone have got them.
Can anyone help with these problems? Thanks in advance, but I don't hold out much hope...

    About iPlayer.
Have a chat with Vodaphone. Streaming iPlayer over 3G IS allowed on Vodaphone contract, unlike my O2 contract. As long as your contract allows it, and you have the correct AP address, it should be fine. Vodaphone should be able to give you the setting.
    Mine only works over Wlan.
FWIW, "... streaming over 3G is not currently available on iPhone handsets on any mobile network".
p.s. Just to be clear. You say  "Tried setting my internet connections to 'always ask', tried setting it to default to Vodafone Live!".
iPlayer uses the Nokia browser "Web". So that's where you should make the setting "Ask when needed". It should then offer you the choice of whatever you've set in Destinations> Internet> then select whatever you've chosen as your GPRS connection.(as advised, or sent to you by Vodaphone).

  • Vodafone Sure Signal and SKY Fibre Optic Broadband

Please help, I have had no Mobile Phone signal for over 6 weeks on four mobile phones at home (which we pay over £150 a month for!) including my two teenage daughters phones who are beside themselves!!My Vodafone sure signal box was working fine (for past two years or more)but stopped working when we switched to SKY Fibre optic broadband from regular SKY broadband I have spoken to Vodafone and SKY for many many hours but still no signal. I'm tempted to ditch both SKY and Vodafone and start fresh with BT!!, this would be such a shame as been with both companies for over 15 years now I have no idea what I need to do to fix this, we have tried Port Forwarding but still no signal. Please help, I am in a mobile blackspot and its driving me cand the family mad.

Although not specifically about Sky Fibre, this (although a bit technical) is an interesting read (in particular the post at 21-Oct-14 10:41:23 advising to de-register the SS via the VF website, wait 30 mins then re-register the SS using a different postcode and if no luck contact VF and ask them to reset the SS from their end). For what it's worth, the Three Home Signal Box works fine over Sky Fibre without any port forwarding or any nonsense - just plug and go - worth knowing if you should decide to switch mobile providers!

  • Hotmail and Sky Email on Ipad

    Hi All
I like to keep emails of invoices on my Ipad/Iphone from Play.com etc. I cannot create a folder for them on my Ipad. Am I missing something? I cannot get the folders created on the Hotmail website or Sky email to show on my Ipad so I can move them to it.

One can't create mail folder on the iPad's Mail app. For IMAP mail accounts you can create mail folder on webmail or a computer and sometimes they show up on the iPad. If you have a POP3 mail account any folders you crate elsewhere will not show up on the iPad. You HotMail and Sky mail accounts are likely POP3 accounts.

  • Slow Infinity speed on Xbox, PS3 and Sky despite h...

I have recently switched from Sky to BT and have a BT Infinity 2 package. My computer is working well and achieves a very good speed - 76Mps down. I am delighted with this. However, despite all my devices being 'hard wired' via ethernet I am getting very slow dowload speeds on my xbox, ps3 and Sky HD box.
Sky Anytime + Takes over an hour to be ready to play an SD movie
Iplayer constantly buffers on PS3 and Xbox
A 56mb File on Xbox live takes 10+ minutes to download (dread to think how long a large file would take!)
I have tried swapping the ports and cables and have tried resetting the homehub. There are no faults on the line and I have had an engineer look at the installation.
I am now very frustrated as when I was with sky on an 8mb connection I had no problems at all with all my devices.
Does anyone out there have any ideas? I would be really grateful them as I am thinking of going back to what worked!
    Thanks

Can you also post the full results from BT Speedtest speedtester.bt.com
Have you tried connecting to the test socket at the rear of the master socket
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal

  • BT Infinity, HH4 and Sky On Demand

<reposted from original in BT Sport>
Has anyone managed to successfully connect a Sky+HD box by Ethernet to the BT Home Hub 4?
I keep getting Local Network and Internet FAIL on the Sky Settings>Network menu (Reset and Manually configure).
According to Sky the router has to be LLC-based for multiplexing.  Does anyone know if the Home Hub 4 (or HH3 for that matter) is LLC-based?
I have connected my old ADSL2+ Netgear router locally by Ethernet to the Sky box and this is recognised in the Settings>Network page as a local network (the Netgear is LLC-based by default).
This is very puzzling because the Home Hub 4 did connect with the Sky Box momentarily at the first attempt.  Sufficient time to designate a static IP Address and Mac code exchange.  Since then it is not recognised.
    I have tried ..
    enabling DHCP on the HH4
putting the Sky Box address in the DMZ
    disabling the firewall
    rebuilding the Sky Planner
system reset of the Sky Box
manually configuring the Sky Box (192.168.1.76; 2555.255.255.0; 192.168.1.254; 192.168.1.254) for IP, Mask, Gateway, DNS.
    All to no avail ...
Orwell only got the date wrong ...
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi DS,
I tried that but I think I am looking in wrong place as LLC-based is a configuration of ADSL.
The problem appears to be on the network routing side rather than the modem.
The Netgear defaults to an address range of 192.168.0.2 - 192.168.0.254
    The HH4 defaults to 192.168.1.64 - 192.168.1.253.
Perhaps the Sky Box expects the range offered by the Netgear?
I there any technical reason why I cannot configure the HH4 thus ...
    Gateway: 192.168.0.1
    Network Range: 192.168.0.2-192.168.0.253

  • Apple TV and Sky HD

    Hi guys,
I was just wondering, is apple tv compatible with sky hd i.e. are you able to plug a sky HD cable in the back and watch hd tv through apple tv on your telebox?

AppleTV is not a satellite decoder or terrestrial digital decoder.
It's a 'media extender' that lets you play things you have in iTunes via your TV (for video this assumes a fairly strict compatibility with what AppleTv can play).
You could plug a Sky feed into any number of non-Sky satellite boxes to watch free to air channels. With a HD capable box you could watch any free HD feeds but having bought a Freesat HD box a few weeks ago just to get a bit of HD feed for my plasma I have to say that the BBC HD service which is all that's effectively available at present (unless you want a high def luxury shopping channel) is not up to much at only about 4 hours of content per day, most of which is of no interest to me.
What we really need in the UK is for the SD broadcasts to be transmitted at decent bitrates - the BBC HD feed is downconverted to view via SCART on my Humax box and the downconverted SD picture is vastly better than the SD broadcasts.
We are getting awful SD digital transmissions that are nowhere near the quality of the SD source material available.

  • Sky Go and Sky+

Due to a recent powercut, my router a Netgear N600 has thrown a wobbly.  The router is set to "Europe" on the regional settings and my ISP provider is UK based.  However my Sky Go now thinks I'm out the country and my Sky+ will no longer download programmes or let me use Catch Up.  I'm at a loss what to do as Sky customer services couldn't help either.  Help!!!!

The broadband is provided by Enta Net via my employer.  When I searched the IP address it was based in the UK.  I've also started a discussion on the Netgear forum and have had the following reply  -   "Take a look at the Public IP address allocated to the router (the Internet / WAN IP address). Use an online IP lookup tool to see where it is located."   Suggestions?

  • Airport Express and sky broadband - wireless?

I recently changed from BT to sky and since changing have not been able to get my AX to work wirelessly.  It seems too much of a coincidence that it should have given up the ghost at the same time but who knows.....
I have the AX plugged in in another room and connected to my AVR via the jack plug to optical cable i/p.  The AX light is solid green and i can see it is connected off the AX utility on my iPad and also on iTunes onthe iMac.  I use it primarily to stream music from iTunes.
I can also see light coming out of the optical end as per normal but the AVR does not seem to be receiving anything.  It does not hold the digital chanel when polling, nor will it pick up a signal if forced to look only at the optical i/p.
    Help please!

Could I use Airport Extreme as the main router, and then use the Sky one to extend the signal?
No. Since the Sky router is not compatible with Apple's WDS that won't work.
You could connect the AEBS via Ethernet to the Sky router. Disable the Sky router's wireless interface. Configure the AEBS to act as a WDS main base station. Configure your current AirPort Express (AX) or another AX to act as a WDS remote.

  • Eye TV and SKY

Do Elgato Eye TV make a box that works with SKY's Freesat service?
I bought an Eye TV 410 a few months ago and it did not receive a signal. I was told that I needed to upgrade my aerial to a digital one in order to receive a freeview signal. (BTW a regular freeview box did not receive a signal either). I live in E2 in London so there is definately a signal here.
When I found that sky do a freesat service that is equivalent to freeview for a one-off payment of £150 that looked the way to go. A bargain compare to the £250 quoted for an aerial upgrade.
My question is does Elgato Eye TV make a box that works with SKY's Freesat service?

    Hi
If the EyeTV takes a Video signal input.. you can plug your video into it
and record/watch off it then yes SKY will work with it but limited.
Limited to you can only record what your watching and unlikly to
use a timer record option with it.
your 250 Aerial quote is a rip 0ff around here its around 100-150 pounds.
    (but then your in London)
Another cheaper option go buy an indoor aerial thats wideband that should
    grab a signal.

  • New TV with no scart and Sky+ box with no HDMI

Hi,  I have a new TV which only has 2 x HDMI outlets and 1 USB port.  My Sky+ box has no HDMI output!!  I've tried looking on Google etc for scart to HDMI leads but apparently they don't exist.  The only thing I can seem to find is a converter box.  When I spoke to the people I bought the TV from they told my Sky would upgrade my box lol!!   Any suggestions/help please.  Thanks

Phone up Sky or visit the upgrade section (http://www.sky.com/shop/customer-shop/box-upgrade/) to find out how much Sky want for a new Sky+HD box. Usually if you haven't had a discounted HD box before, your eligible for one. Although it may require some form of commitment such as a new minimum term.
If Sky are asking too much money for a new HD box just buy one second hand, there's loads on eBay. Aim to get a DRX890 or DRX895 Sky+HD box. Don't buy a Sky+HD box made by Thomson, there obsolete.
If you really want to keep your current box you would need a Scart to HDMI converter. It's impossible to do it with just a lead. But a converter could cost the same or more than a second hand HD box.
