Bubble chart appearance option

hello,
on the series window of the appearance tab is an option called current value.
one of the options in this drop-down list is "sizes"
what is this option suppose to change the size of?
i changed the font size option to 72, but did not see anything different in the chart.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,
The sizes option is to change the size of the bubbles or markers that represent values in the chart.As you increase or decrease these numbers you can see the bubbles growing or shrinking in size on canvas.
Show values option refers to the mouse over values that will be displayed in preview mode when you mouse over the bubbles.I guess you will se the font change for values in effect only when you enter the preview mode.

is it somehow possible to add labels to bubbles in a bubble chart? I would like to see not only the values (X/Y) and the size but also the name.
In Excel one can use a Makro or an add in. Is something comparable also possible in Xcelsius?

I am sorry to disappoint you: but yes, you have to make a new series for each point you want with a name on it...
A project I am on has the same problem, I have had to define 80 series by hand. Note that after 50 series the adding of new series gets rather sluggish. Note that also need to define the bubble size, or the items will not appear.
I have yet to figure out the way Xcelsius allows you to rapidly create "many" series by selecting an area ("By Range") and then manually setting up the series by picking the option "Rows". If you figure out how to do this, I am all ears.

Changing bubble chart to get a portfolio analysis?

Hello,
I am trying to get a portfolio analysis chart into XCelsius.
For that I am trying a workaround via a bubble chart.
My problem is that a usual portfolio chart has its own axis labels and does not have numerical values on its axis.
e.g. the caption for "low" "medium" "high" as seen on this picture:

Is there any possibility to set such axis label values inside the bubble chart?
I would like to avoid setting extra labels because the dashboard user should be able to choose how many fields he wants.

Edit: Another question about the bubble chart:
When I increase the size of one bubble, it actually does not become bigger, but the other bubbles become smaller. I suggest it has something to do with the marker size set to the chart.
Is there any way to get one buuble bigger without influencing other bubbles?

Numbers will chart the information that you supply.
If your spreadsheet supplies the negative values, and those values are sent to cells included in the group selected for the chart, then those values, ignoring the sign, will be included in the chart.
If you don't want those values included in the chart, then 'the proper adjustment' is to not supply the chart with those values.
You can do that using Badunit's formula, or this version:
=IF(B<0,"",B)
Different appearance on the table, but the same appearance on the chart as with BU's formula.

How to change the colors for individual bubbles in a bubble chart?

I have a report where in a bubble chart needs to be shown with different colors for bubbles available in the chart. I cant find any option to select individual bubbles and format the color options.
Any guidance or suggestions solving this would be much appreciated.

Thanks JB for your reply, I see in format chart data there is are two sections:
1. Positional
2. Conditional
In Positional - I have the type and color changes for the bubbles but if I change any color in that all the bubbles are simultaneously getting the same color code.
Not sure if there is any other setting. Please share me your thoughts on this.

Bubble chart in Xcelsius

I am building a report which uses the below data
Region______Verticals________calyear____Revenue
APJ________Banking_________2007_____10
EmEA______Insurance________2008_____20
Central______Media___________CAGR____6.8
I need to have 3 filters for Region, Verticals and calyear
in the calyear filter I need to show only the values 2007 and 2008 but not CAGR
on this data I need to build a bubble chart where it takes Revenue values in x axis CAGR in Y axis ,intially the default value for revenue should be 2007 on the chart and in the filter
How do I need to arrange the data in excel for building this report

For the filter, you just need to exclude the row containing CAGR from the filter's source data. However the data set you've provided is somewhat confusing since the value of CAGR under your "calyear" column does not actually represent a numerical year. This might be an issue with the bubble chart since the bubble chart represents 3 dimensions that have to be numeric.
Perhaps you can use a line chart and have CAGR as the Y axis label. Make the plot series appear as bubbles and remove the connecting lines in the appearance settings.

Bubble Chart mouse hover issue

Hi,
we are facing problem in removing mouse hover data point in the bubble chart.
Requirement is such that we do not want to show a data point in mouse hover in a bubble chart.Since size of bubbles in the chart have been mapped with these values,these are necessarily shown as a data points in mouse hover.
Is there any means by which we can continue mapping size to these data values and still not show in the bubble chart mouse hover.

If you mean a colour gradient in the background try:
Graph Properties -> Style -> 3D
This makes the graph look 3D but also adds a colour gradient to the background.
If this is not what you are after please supply more details of your requirement.

I'm a problem with the bubble chart. I need to display a specific label near every bubble. In excel It's possible with the data label function. I see that in the Xcelsius 2008 SP3 there is a "data label" selection in the Appearance - Text tab, but it allow to see only X/Y values, the series name or the bubble size....

I am not sure if our approach suits to your requirements but we implemented a kind of legend below the bubble chart, showing the "technical" values of the bubbles (x-/y-position and bubble size) and some additional, more functional values like name and type of the corresponding real world object which is represented by the bubble.
Our legend is dynamically filled via the drilldown-function of the bubble chart, i.e. when you move the mouse over one bubble all corresponding values of this bubble are displayed in the legend. BTW: These values remain in the legend until you move the mouse over another bubble, i.e. you don't have to keep the mouse over the bubble in question as long as you do not move it over another bubble.

Bubble Chart: missing exception colors, mousover text etc.

I have some problems with a bubble chart. The definition of the query is like this:

Project and status are characteristics, the other objects are key figures. A project has a status. There are 6 stati. Based on the status the bubble in the bubble chart shall have a specific color. So I set an exception for each status level. I use a BW 3.1 SP19.
Based on this query I create a bubble chart in web. I have now the following problems:
1.The bubble chart shows only 3 different colors (red, yellow, green) and not these colors that are also used in the BEx query. In BW3.5 more colors are displayed. Is there any restriction in 3.1?
2.In case of mouseover (over the bubble of the last project see above) the text "project 4: 140" is displayed. Is it possible to display also the description and value of the status, sfactor and rfactor?
3.I configured the chart options in such a way, that rfactor and sfactor shall be displayed above the bubble. But this works not for all buubles. Any explanation for that?
4.If I restrict the displayed bubbles only to one status level (by means of a dropdownbox), then the displayed bubble is bigger than before. I fixed x- and y-axis. So why do I get now an other size for the selected status level. Any chance to avoid this?
5. The chart legend still shows the original bubble colors, so not the exception colors. Is it possible to force the legend to show the correct colors?
I would be very grateful for any help.

Bubble Chart drill down issues

I have a filter and a bubble chat with 7 series. The chart is showing up bubbles with different size and colors as per the settings when I chnage the filter
The problem is with drill down
I want to drill down to a Bar chart when I click on bubbles. Each bubble click will drill down data into that bar charchart as a pop up. I know how to do it as I have done it in the past with other components.
But when I use drill down with bubble chart, I have to assign separate destination area for each series which makes it difficult to drill down into a chart. What i want is the bubbles to drill down data into a single row so that I can map the Y-axis of chart component to that row and X axis as fixed labels. But I am not able to do that. Moreover once inserted there is no way to clear the destination cells.
However if I use data in range options in bubble chart then I can use drill down as I get only one series in that case. But that method also has limitations.
1. I am not able to display series name on the bubbles. It doesn't make any sense to show bubbles without any labels.
2. All bubbles are of same color.
Is it possible to overcome above two limitations when using data in range option?

Hi Tarun,
as a workaround you could define a special area as mapping area for the X-Y-chart.
This area is filled via excel formulas from the bubble chart drill down destinations. You can concatenate the values from the drill down target areas, like "=A4&A5" etc. Make sure to clear all cells except the actual drill down target cells.

Bubble chart legend problem

Hello.
I have problem with bubble chart the problem is that in chart legend appear the same number of object what bubble in chart e.g. if chart have 5 bubble then legend also have 5 object.
What do I want to obtain is that in chart appear bubble which have different color (color depends on condition) and legend relate only colors. For example if chart have 4 bubble 3 - red and 1 - green then in legend appear only two position which relate green and red color (now appear 4 object three about red and one green).
Can any one tell me how to resolve this problem?

I already did this I added three condition (three colors red, green and yellow) in field "Value of" I choosed "is equal to" unfortunately it didn't help.
Maybe I joust try to describe what I want to show in this chart.
Suppose I have table with four columns u201Cdateu201D, u201Camount (number type)u201D, u201Csize (number type)u201D, u201Crisku201D (text type) now where this value appear on chart:
- date is x axis
- amount is y axis
- size is a bubble size
- risk will be bubble color
Now I have 3 kind of risk u201CLowu201D (green color), u201CMediumu201D (yellow color) and u201CHighu201D (red color).
Now in my data base I have table with record:
- u201C11-11-2009u201D, u201C1u201D, u201C2u201D, u201CMediumu201D
- u201C12-11-2009u201D, u201C2u201D, u201C1u201D, u201CMediumu201D
- u201C13-11-2009u201D, u201C1u201D, u201C1u201D, u201CHighu201D

Ok so now In My chart I should have 5 bubble and in legend three value (green, red, yellow) but in this case I always have five (the same number what record in table).

How to integrate Sliding picture menu with Bubble chart

Hi
I have a Bubble chart as below for sales
X axis = Amount (ex- 2500045)
y axis = Deal age (ex- 15)
z axis = stages (ex- quotation/negotiation/closed/lost)
I have datas for 5 sales rep with different stages
Next is a Sliding picture menu
This has pictures of the above 5 sales rep.
Now how to integrate these two. that means if I click one sales rep picture data of that salesrep should reflect in bubble chart, likewise if I click on other sales rep his data should appear in the bubble chart
Can any experts help on this.

Could you explain a bit more what it is exactly you're trying to accomplish. How are you trying to integrate the openbox menu with tint?
For example: right-clicking free space on tint panel brings up OB menu.
Current workaround works (tint not stretched to screen width - I'm clicking empty space on sides of tint panel) but I was hoping for more "elegant" solution.
According to tint manual:
"3.7 Mouse
customize mouse action with : none, close, toggle, iconify, shade, toggle_iconify
mouse_middle = none
mouse_right = close
mouse_scroll_up = toggle
mouse_scroll_down = iconify"
Why not just use the hotkey to bring up the openbox menu?
Not being able to do everyday tasks efficiently with a mouse is a big no-no.
Besides that, combo of OB + Tint + Trayer is great.

Color of bubbles in bubbles chart

Hello,
I am using a WebI bubble chart, where each bubble represents a company (company dimension used as shapes) and two measures the coordinates. I created a formula to cluster my customers into A, B and C customers and want to color my A companies red, B blue and C green.
I used the Cluster-dimension as "chart color" objects in the bubbles chart and used a custom color scheme to get the right colors for A, B and C.
Unfortunately for some reason it happens sometimes that WebI mixes up the colors, like A becomes blue instead of red and so on. I don't know exactly how to reproduce that problem, but is there a way to assign the colors to my dimension values?

i tried your senario in my system . initial i got the same colour for both profit and loss in the pie chart .
then i change some properties in the Edit customising option iand i get the desier result you want .

Obiee 10g - How to Increase the default size of Bubble chart radius axis

Hi,
I have an requirement of creating bubble chart in obiee 10g.
When i was developing the bubble chart i noticed that there is no option of increasing the size of the bubble.
When the measure value is low the bubble is not getting displayed.
Kindly help me with any solution.

In SQL Server Reporting Services 2008, the Bubble chart has several custom attributes which allow us to control the size of the bubbles. "BubbleMaxSize" and "BubbleMinSize" attributes allow us to define the size of the bubble in the chart series. The values
set are in percent of the whole chart size. We can find those attributes in the property pane by selecting bubble series and expanding 'CustomAttributes' properties.
And based on my research, the Marker size has a wide range, but for some reason once we get to around 8 the bubble in the legend will not grow any bigger. So in your scenario, we can set the Marker size to 8pt, then set the appropriate “BubbleMaxSize" and
"BubbleMinSize" based on the chart size to make the size of both the bubble are the same. For example, we can also set “BubbleMaxSize" and "BubbleMinSize" to 8, then manually adjust the chart size until both the bubbles have same size.
Beside, we can delete the original legend, and drag a tablix to the right of the chart. And then insert the corresponding data and color to tablix to let it looks like a legend. For more details information, you can refer to the link below to see Mike’s

BCV Bubble chart

hi,
i configured the bubble chart(in a review) to have Prob. of Comm. success on X-axis and Risk Assessed on Y- Axis. Also the same parameters are mentioned against Series and Size as well(Prob.Comm. Success on Series and Risk assessed on Size). Now when two items in a review have the same value for Risk assessed, the two gets added up and the graph shows only the first item(in the order of the id) withe the size of the added up Risk.
Can you anyone tell what could be the possible reason. Appreciate your help.

When the "Aggregation" option in the position parameter was unchecked the values were OK.
