Bubble chart Show data tips always on

Hi
I am having a bubble chart with 2 or more series. where itemRenderer could be triangle,Cross or Circle. Now i need to display the label on the radius of item.
Any help is heartly welcome.
with thanks

Thanks John, that link was very helpful.
Shame you can't seem to get the X & Y values for a normal Line chart though. However having the series name available makes such a difference

What I want to do is simple. I have a line chart, on the

the little image that denotes a data point to always be

• Pivot Table Chart - Show Data Labels

Hi all,
I have a pivot table report that can show as many as 20 columns, which translate to 20 data lines in the pivot chart. When you float your pointer over a line it tells you the value of the line at that point, but it doesnt tell you the column that it relates to or the value of the bottom axis. So say the open sales for London on 20/01/2010 is 12345, it will only show you "12345"
Does anyone know if its possible or have a solution to get it to display "London, 20/01/2010, 12345"
Thanks in advance

• BAM Combo Chart showing data in 2 graphics for the same data object

Hi all,
I’m trying to show 2 views of the same data object in a Combo Chart (e.g. orders created today as a bar chart and orders created yesterday as line chart grouping by hour of day). It was pretty easy adding the same data object twice but the data type of the horizontal axis seems to be lost and it gets sorted as a simple string, leading to strange grouping of the hours with 05:00 representing 5 AM sided with 05:00 representing 5 PM. Also, I’m not able to format such fields using the format values tab.
Is using the same data object two times in the same report an unsupported scenario?
Thanks,
Daniel

why you want to add the same data object twice? Your use case can be achieved with single data object only.
1) Create combo chart and select the data object.
2) On "Choose data fields" page group by datetime field.
3) You will see UI changed to 3 sections - left one with "Group by" section, middle with "Chart values" and right one with "Time Groups".
4) In the right "Time Group" section, uncheck checkbox for continuous time series. Time Unit as hour, quantity as 1.
5) In middle "Chart values" section ,select the fields that you want to display as chart values and respective chart types , in your case orders created today as a bar chart and orders created yesterday as line chart.
5) Click Next and Finish.
6) Then you can go to Value format tab, and change the format for the datetime field as timeunit and required format.

• Finder window date added date modified show date time always

Is there a preference setting to have a finder window with Date Added and Date Modified columns enabled to always show the date and time? Currently, the column information is dynamic, like just providing a time where you infer Today, or one column does show the date and time but the other only shows the date, or it reads Today, 12:31pm.
I want every window when displaying Date Added or Date Modified columns to always, consistently show the date and time, e.g. 3/15/14, 7:31AM.
Aloha and Mahalo!

I found half of the answer: View:Show View Options - Deselect Use Relative Dates.
Now I just need a solution to always show the time and not only the date.
Curiously, when you initially enable a column in a Finder window, it shows both the date and time; however when you return to the window after closing it, you lose the time of day on Date Added, but not on Date Modified. -- Bug or Feature?

• Show Data TIps

I try to show
DataTips(only marker) in
Line Chart (AreaChart) in all time.

Hello,
Sorry about resurecting an old post, but I'm having the same issue. My original numbers have unknow number of decimals, and when storing them in my ArrayCollection, I was originally using Math.round(myNumber*100)/100 to keep only 2 decimals. To my surprise, chart datatips show some numbers with 10 decimals (38.4899999999 for example).
I switched to using Number(nfToVal.format(myNumber)), since I already use the same NumberFormatter to display those numbers in a datagrid.
For info, nfToVal is:
var nfToVal:NumberFormatter = new NumberFormatter();
nfToVal.decimalSeparatorFrom=".";
nfToVal.decimalSeparatorTo = ".";
nfToVal.useNegativeSign="true";
nfToVal.thousandsSeparatorFrom="";
nfToVal.thousandsSeparatorTo="";
nfToVal.precision="2";
nfToVal.rounding="nearest";
Problem still there! Numbers display correctly as strings after being formatted, but get decimals again when converted back to numbers ...
Any hints ????
Thanks,

• Bubble chart - labels?

Hi,
I'm a problem with the bubble chart. I need to display a specific label near every bubble. In excel It's possible with the data label function. I see that in the Xcelsius 2008 SP3 there is a "data label" selection in the Appearance - Text tab, but it allow to see only X/Y values, the series name or the bubble size....

Hi,
I am not sure if our approach suits to your requirements but we implemented a kind of legend below the bubble chart, showing the "technical" values of the bubbles (x-/y-position and bubble size) and some additional, more functional values like name and type of the corresponding real world object which is represented by the bubble.
Our legend is dynamically filled via the drilldown-function of the bubble chart, i.e. when you move the mouse over one bubble all corresponding values of this bubble are displayed in the legend. BTW: These values remain in the legend until you move the mouse over another bubble, i.e. you don't have to keep the mouse over the bubble in question as long as you do not move it over another bubble.
Hope this helps!

• Bubble Chart: missing exception colors, mousover text etc.

Hi,
I have some problems with a bubble chart. The definition of the query is like this:
project status sfactor rfactor budget
1--1---30-100--
30
2--2---10---15--
30
3--1---234--
45
4--3---50---10-----140
Project and status are characteristics, the other objects are key figures. A project has a status. There are 6 stati. Based on the status the bubble in the bubble chart shall have a specific color. So I set an exception for each status level. I use a BW 3.1 SP19.
Based on this query I create a bubble chart in web. I have now the following problems:
1.The bubble chart shows only 3 different colors (red, yellow, green) and not these colors that are also used in the BEx query. In BW3.5 more colors are displayed. Is there any restriction in 3.1?
2.In case of mouseover (over the bubble of the last project see above) the text "project 4: 140" is displayed. Is it possible to display also the description and value of the status, sfactor and rfactor?
3.I configured the chart options in such a way, that rfactor and sfactor shall be displayed above the bubble. But this works not for all buubles. Any explanation for that?
4.If I restrict the displayed bubbles only to one status level (by means of a dropdownbox), then the displayed bubble is bigger than before. I fixed x- and y-axis. So why do I get now an other size for the selected status level. Any chance to avoid this?
5. The chart legend still shows the original bubble colors, so not the exception colors. Is it possible to force the legend to show the correct colors?
I would be very grateful for any help.

• Make data tip show currency in stacked ColumnChart

Hi all,
I'd like to know the best practice for showing the number values as currency in a data tip on a ColumnChart. My current specific problem is with one that has a type of "stacked".
By default it renders the Series name, category field, item value, item percent of total column and total column value. I'd like item value and total column value be formatted using currency.
I tied into dataTipFunction as a possibility, but can't seem to find all the necessary values to make this work. For sure, I'm missing how I can get the total for the column easily (without iterating through all the series myself). Is using a dataTipFunction the only way to do this, or is there a better way?
Can someone help guide me through this?
Thanks in advance,
topher.

• Single Bubble does not show in bubble chart

It would be great if there were a separate forum for Flex
Charting related discussion.
I noticed that you have only one row of data in your
dataProvider for a BubbleChart (and hence only one bubble), the
chart shows up empty. I believe this is a bug. Here is a test
program:
<mx:Script> <![CDATA[
[Bindable]
private var expenses:ArrayCollection = new ArrayCollection([
{Month: "Jan", Profit: 2400, Expenses: 1500, Amount: 1450}
]]>
</mx:Script>
<mx:BubbleChart id="bubble2" paddingLeft="5"
height="100%" width="100%" creationComplete="init()"
paddingRight="5" dataProvider="{expenses}"
showDataTips="true">
<mx:series >
<mx:Array>
<mx:BubbleSeries dataProvider="{expenses}"
xField="Expenses" yField="Profit" radiusField="Amount" name="e1"
fill="{grad}" rollOverEffect="{glow}" />
</mx:Array>
</mx:series>
</mx:BubbleChart>
<mx:Legend dataProvider="{bubble2}"/>

Best guess is that the image is only on one field and PP is showing you the other.

• Data tips in column charts - numbers need trimming

I want to keep the standard data tip format in my column
charts, but the numbers often look weird - even though the raw
numbers add up neatly to eg 3 decimal places, the data tip shows
15! As an example when the total of a column is 49.346, the data
tip shows "Total: 49.346000000000004". How can I stop this? I can't
find an example of how to do my own data tip function that
replicates the standard so I can round the numbers down.
Thanks.

• Not able to show data in combination chart

Hi Experts,
I am new to BO Design studio and I am facing some issues in beginning itself. My issue is, I have 12 months data for some KPI's and I need to show two KPI's values in a single chart(Combination or Dual axis).
In Initial view I have selected needed KPI's and measures
once inserted chart, in data selection I have selected only those two KPI's which i want to show in chart but when i select 2nd KPI's measures I am getting following error.
Am I doing in right way? Is there any other way to show two KPI's measures in combination chart?
Please help
Regards,
Mathivanan.M

What type of object is Vendor_KPI in your screen shot? Is it a measure?
Separately it looks like some fixes are planned for Design Studio 1.3, planned for end of May (roughly) - this is what we heard last week. See http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1979823

• How to show data value labels in the charts without moving my mouse on the data point?

Sometimes I need to show a chart with data value labels which is not necessary to move my mouse on the data points. However, it seems Xcelsius does not support this simple feature. Any alternative ways?
Many thanks!

Currently, Xcelsius does not support display of labels at data points. It would be difficult to move and update labels on a chart with dynamically updated data. However, a work around for a static chart would be to add a Label component in the desired location. This can be done for multiple static charts by using dynamic visibility.
