Bubbles or Sensors?

I've been reading about iPhones having bubbles underneath the touch screen, and I happen to look at my phone with the sun beaming down on it. One thing that caught my eye was two bubble-like shapes above the earpiece. From the keynote last year, I could of sworn Steve said that the light sensor and proximity sensors were on the left and right side of the earpiece, not the top. Another thing that has got me worried is that these appear at the "seam" of the glass and the chrome lining. On another look, they do appear to be too "perfect" in shape to be a bubble. Am I going crazy, or is this just the ambient light sensor and the proximity sensor?

Those are indeed the light and proximity sensors, so all is well with your iPhone!

  • A hole/bubble on the verizon logo

    I'm wondering if this is just my phone or its the design.
    On the verizon logo there's some kind of bubble/hole on the top below the screen. I havent put a screen protector on this. When i was going to put it I noticed it. It does look like a bubble from screen protector.
    Unfortunately I cant take a picture of it. I tried using my other cellphone camera but the image is not clear enough to show it.
    Its next to the 1st line of the logo on the top.
    I know its not the led notification because the notification is below the speaker.
    I have no issue with the phone itself. Except some apps that force closed on me. But I suspect thats because its the apps itself.
    can anybody else confirm is they have this or not?
    Thank you

    i believe you are correct budone. the incredible has a similar sensor (actually there are 2 in the inc) right next the the verizon logo and it's the sensor that tells the device when the phone is being held to your ear, or away from it.

    Flash games, (ie perfect poker, bubble island etc) on facebook dont work after Firfox 4 install. i have all latest updates to adobe etc.

    I would like to remove facebook, whatsapp, coming soon, mcafee, uefa, wisepilot, news republic and that xperia power management tool.
    Those 8 app are not useful and waste my space on the phone. I tried to uninstall them, everytime i restart the phone they install again and again, it's a pain!!
    The wifi bug is not solved, the led notification is not solved, the light sensor is not solved and we have now no HD video.
    What the hell are you doing there??????????????????????????????????????????
    Last minute update: After a lot of tries and restart finally it doesn't install anymore mcafee, uefa (I had 2 uefa application automatically installed!!), wisepilot, news republic, comingsoon.
    I still can't get rid of that damn bloatware facebook (Facebook app, Calendar sync per facebook, Facebook extension, FBiX Music Likes,FBiX Post Viewer, FBiX Proxy, FBiX Setup, Friends Games and Applications, Friend Music and Videos) and Whatsapp (I dont use it and it waste 4MB). To jo_xperia: how did you uninstall facebook?

    there seems to be like ait bubbles or even water trapped under the glass of my iphone, im not sure if this is the sensor that was mentioned when i looked around the boards here but im posting to make sure. here is what it looks like to me, ive only had this phone for 4 days and im somewhat scared since i just noticed this.

    Oh man, don't get me started on the lack of an included help facility on an "advanced" phone.
    It is the height of hubris for Apple to think their UI is totally self-explanatory. If it were, there wouldn't be hundreds of questions on various forums each week about supposedly simple actions.
    Even WM phones usually have a help file onbooard. In this case, there's plenty of space. Could just plop the manual in flash if they're really lazy! Otherwise HTML version with search would be nice.

  • NF980-g65 MCP temp - Bad sensor or?

    I remade my computer a while ago and ordered basically new everything except PSU (x3 ultra 1000W modular) and I'm loading up everest and it's reporting the following temps:
      Temperatures:
          Motherboard                                       38 °C  (100 °F)
          CPU                                               34 °C  (93 °F)
          CPU #1 / Core #1                                  24 °C  (75 °F)
          CPU #1 / Core #2                                  24 °C  (75 °F)
          CPU #1 / Core #3                                  24 °C  (75 °F)
          CPU #1 / Core #4                                  24 °C  (75 °F)
          CPU #1 / Core #5                                  24 °C  (75 °F)
          CPU #1 / Core #6                                  24 °C  (75 °F)
          MCP                                               67 °C  (153 °F)
          GPU                                               44 °C  (111 °F)
          GPU Memory                                        36 °C  (97 °F)
          GPU Ambient                                       37 °C  (99 °F)
          Seagate ST3300620AS                               37 °C  (99 °F)
    I'm concerned over the MCP (I think it's the south bridge  ) temp but I'm questioning the accuracy of it because of a few reasons:
    After the computers been off for 12 hours with an ambient temp of about 74F, the MCP is instantly 58-60C, that just doesn't seem right for the computer literally being on for 10 seconds.
    I've done several touch tests on the south bridge heat sink within 2 or 3 seconds of shutting down (grounding myself before hand of course) and the heat sink is warm, but not hot at all. I even did a touch test after it was supposedly 80C and it was hot, but it didn't burn, or even hurt, It was barely hot.
    The mcp sensors on previous revisions of the 980 were known for false readings on the south bridge because of borked sensors.
    I have good air flow throughout the whole case and a 240MM side fan that is literally right ontop of the MCP. Ontop of that I've got a 120MM fan in the front, and two 80MM exhaust fans.
    Any input would be appreciated!
    Also, I'm on bios 1.3 as I had to update it for my CPU to show up.

    Quote from: Fredrik on 14-June-10, 01:27:54
    The heat sink is on top of the chipset. If the heat sink is real good or very bad it wont get warm. If it is in good contact with the chipset and in a good air flow it will distribute the heat so well it wont get ware. If the contact is bad, gaps and bubbles and too much or too little thermal grease for example, the heat chipset created wont be distributed to the heat sink, why the heat sink remains cold.
    - I may be complicating things here, but that is my favourite sport.
    Yeah . I'm not a big fan of the MSI heatsinks on this board. Only because of the plate they put in the middle for the MSI logo. That gets hot (as I expect it to because of it blocking the fins and heat not disapating right, but not hot enough to burn me, or even make it uncomfortable) but the fins to the left and right only get slightly warm. The heat sinks are defiantly not cold. I did read something that said if the cpu's voltage was under 1.5 volts, for some reason the sensor for the MCP would display outrageous and eroneous temp readings. Needless to say my cpu doesn't really exceed 1.3-4 volts, Even under load.
    I'm pretty confident the sensor is just borked.

  • How to set up a wireless private bubble at paid hotspot? WTR54GS

    Hi,
    I have the WTR54GS travel router. Reading the manual I understand I can create a private wifi bubble with the WTR54GS to share a hot spot.
    From the manual:
    "You can also use multiple devices on a single hotspot account in a coffee shop or airport lounge and be protected with WPA Personal encryption or a powerful SPI firewall".
    I've successfully used the WTR54GS as an AP with the router connected by cable to a wired Internet source.
    But how do I set it up to receive one wifi signal then rebroadcast as a private "bubble" I don't see any specific settings in the setup or descriptions in the manual. Maybe it's easier than I think?
    If possible I'd like to be able to use a B wifi device (my PDA) at a place that's only broadcasting G.
    thanks.

    The WTR54GS (wireless travel router) is often confused with the WRT54GS (wireless router), because of their similar names.
    The WTR54GS (Travel Router) can accept an Internet connection from an ethernet cable or an unsecured wireless network.  This is set up using the very first item on the router's setup pages, namely "Incoming Internet type" which can be set to "wired" or "wireless".  The key thing here is that the WTR54GS cannot use an encrypted wireless system for its incoming Internet connection.
    It can then generate a secured (WEP, WPA, or WPA2) wireless LAN, under your own unique SSID, and you can connect several wireless computers to it.  (If you have a switch, you can also connect several wired computers to it.)
    If you are trying to use the router to share a single paid unsecured wireless connection, then it should work.  Be sure when you sign up that you use the router, so the service recognizes the router's MAC address (and not your computer's MAC address) as a "paid" user.
    If you are trying to use the router to provide security, this will not happen with this type of a "wireless network-to-wireless network" setup.  The reason for this is that all your transmissions ultimately are passed unencrypted between the WTR54GS and the hotel's wireless router.
    On the other hand, if you use a wired "Incoming Internet Connection", then the router works quite nicely at setting up a shared and secure wireless network.  ( This assumes that the wire you are using is secure. )
    By the way, your wireless b device should easily be able to connect to a wireless g network.

  • Sensor Mapping Express VI's performance degrades over time

    I was attempting to do a 3d visualization of some sensor data. I made a model and managed to use it with the 3d Picture Tool Sensor Mapping Express VI. Initially, it appeared to work flawlessly and I began to augment the scene with further objects to enhance the user experience. Unfortunately, I believe I am doing something wrong at this stage. When I add the sensor map object to the other objects, something like a memory leak occurs. I begin to encounter performance degradation almost immediately.
    I am not sure how I should add to best add in the Sensor Map Object reference to the scene as an object. Normally, I establish these child relationships first, before doing anything to the objects, beyond creating, moving, and anchoring them. Since the Sensor Map output reference is only available AFTER the express vi run. My compromise solution, presently, is to have a case statement of controlled by the"First Call" constant. So far, performace seems to be much better.
    Does anyone have a better solution? Am I even handling these objects the way the community does it?
    EDIT: Included the vi and the stl files.

    I agree with Hunter, your current solution is simple and effective, and I can't really visualize a much better way to accomplish the same task.
    Just as a side-note, the easiest and simplest way to force execution order is to use the error terminals on the functions and VIs in your block diagram. Here'a VI snippet with an example of that based on the VI you posted. (If you paste the image into your block diagram, you can make edits to the code)
    Since you expressed some interest in documentation related to 3D picture controls, I did some searching and found a few articles you might be interested in. There's nothing terribly complex, but these should be a good starting point. • Ajuda com logica de sensores

    Boa tarde,

    Rafael,
    Você enviou apenas a VI principal. Ficaram faltando algumas sub-VIs. Mesmo assim, pelo que pude entender o acionamento do sensor 1 é sempre antes do sensor 2. Assim, aconselho a fazer uma máquina de estado sequencial simples com as seguintes etapas:
    Inicialização: valores, comunicação serial, etc.
    Espera acionamento do sensor 1
    Guarda momento do acionamento do sensor 1
    Espera acionamento do sensor 2
    Guarda momento do acionamento do sensor 2
    Calcula e apresenta tempo decorrido
    Encerramento: fechar comunicação serial, etc.
    Se você não sabe como montar uma máquina de estado simples pode simplificar mais ainda colocando cada passo em um quadro (frame) de um Flat Sequence.

  • The difference between the bubble and the panel

    I just experienced another reason why I hate the bubble instead of the drawer/panel, besides the whole data entry thing.
    I had the calendar on my smaller 20" monitor on my right - I use my 30" monitor for the nuts and bolts of my work. The calendar was set to fill the screen vertically. I needed to enter something into a date near the bottom of the calendar, so I double-clicked it to edit, and the bubble ran off the bottom of my screen! I had two options - resize the calendar so I could see all of the bubble, or move the bloody thing to my 30" monitor so I could finish my task. With the old iCal, the panel would have just been to the right - no problem. I really miss the old iCal. A lot.

    Yah when I tried to add multiple components without sucess I got rather confused here is what I tried...
    I was making a non applet or a JFrame whatever you call them, so I made these two variables as class variables
    MyOtherComponent me = new MyOtherComponent();
    MyComponent mc=new MyComponent();
    (I definded the components later on in the class)
    I then wanted to display them, I did this in the class constructor which is called by main().
    MyComponent one;
    MyOtherComponent two;
    JButton button;
    me.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(40,40));
    mc.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(40,40));
    me.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(400,400));
    me.setVisible(true);
    mc.setVisible(true);
    content.add(one = new MyComponent(), BorderLayout.CENTER);
    content.add(two = new MyOtherComponent(), BorderLayout.WEST);
    content.add(button = new JButton("yo"), BorderLayout.EAST);
    content.add(button = new JButton("S"), BorderLayout.SOUTH);
    content.add(button = new JButton("N"), BorderLayout.NORTH);
    I wanted to make a BorderLayout, and have two of my custom components in the layout but every time I try to run this mc is visible (the first component, and me is not visible...
    it says me is not visible but i set it to visible clearly in the code, what is the problem..
    dukes for this one

  • Usb 6009:connecting the sensor and motor

    Hi there,
    I am new to the labview also the usb-6009. I want to know if I can connect my sensor to the device. The output of the sensor is either analog voltage, pulse width or serial.If I want to use the AN pin, can I just connect the wire to the ADC from the usb or I need to add some circuit before connect it to the usb?also, if I want to control the brushless dc motor with the driver, can I just connect the wire from the motor driver direct to the device? How to connect it?
    Thanks

    You can connect analog voltages directly to the USB-6009 to be measured as long as they do not exceed the input limits (-10V to +10V).
    Connecting the motor directly to the outputs is a bad idea.
    Digital output is 0-5V, 8.5mA
    Analog output is 0-5V, 5mA
    So unless your motor draws less than 5mA (extremely unlikely) you'll blow up your DAQ!
    You will need to buffer the outputs somehow unless you are just driving logic gates.
    It's all on the datasheet... http://www.ni.com/pdf/products/us/20043762301101dlr.pdf

    I just got the iphone 6 in the mail and I've been having trouble setting up the fingerprint lock and reachability option. My home button sensor doesn't seem to work. I had my thumb over the fingerprint sensor for 5 minutes and it didn't read at all.. the screen remained idle. I tried everything. (I let my thumb sit over the button for minutes without moving, covered the ring, and even tried pressing down out of aggravation). And when I turned on the accessibility option for reachability. I double tapped my home button and nothing happened. Is my phone defected or am I doing something wrong?

    Hi,
    I had the same problem and after many hours of work was confirmed to be a hardware problem (according to the Apple technical support).
    I have sent it back.
    Did you ever resolve your issue?

    My proximity sensor does not work on my iPhone 4

    Well, it can be fixed, however it is in a very difficult spot, and it may cost me more to replace than what I can get out of it. I don't care to pay for a replacement since my warranty is up, because I already have an iPhone 5. I want to sell the iPhone4, and not for $75 either because you can't make a phone call unless its on speaker. I didn't know what other people had to say, so I just wanted some feedback on my options. I'm sorry that I am not an expert on the iPhone hardware componets, because I actually work for a living. I don't have time to sit here and play on forums. Thanks for all you're help.

  • Windows 7 Pro x64 does not detect HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor (accelerometer)

    Hello there.
    I installed win7pro x64 yesterday and already came across a serious problem that makes my way of using the notebook a bit dangerous for my precious data.
    When I was working on HP-branded Vista 32bit (from recovery partition etc), there was a device called HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor together with HP ProtectSmart (or Protect Smart) software. In other words, the HDD accelerometer that parks HDD's heads when it "feels" it's falling or something, and software for it. It worked brilliantly.
    Until I decided to install Win7... Then, surprisingly after a driver-install failure and taking a look at the Device Manager I noticed that there's no such device! I checked it three times, looked at every device's property, even reinstalled Vista 32bit back - it showed again - and installed Win7 - not detected again. There's nothing that has Device ID's HPQ004! I remember people saying that after fresh Windows install, there were 6 unknown devices or more. I had only 5. [Fingerprint device, 3x MemCard reader and IR receiver]. There was no accelerometer... Also, when I try to install the drivers/software, the windows pops up:
    ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection: with text Property.AccelerometerNotPresent
    and then another one saying something like Features were not installed because of installation error or unsupported feature.
    So now I'm stuck with a notebook that is unsafe to travel with, because the disk is no longer protected
    I already installed all the drivers available from HP page, even downloaded newest ones from Intel (chipset) etc.
    Is there a solution to this? Has anyone else encountered this problem?
    Windows 7 is officially out and available as RTM version, not beta, so I think HP should open support for it and release new drivers for win7! And most importantly, fix this issue ...
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Well, thanks to myself, I fixed it. After some thinking I remembered that ACPI = BIOS-related. It appears that there is a problem with the newest (F16) BIOS.
    F.16 changelog is below:
      Version: F.16 A  (26 May 2009)       Fixes
    Updates the Intel MRC Code to version 2.7.
    Updates the Intel AHCI OP ROM to version iSrc 1.20_E.0012 11252008.
    Updates the BIOS to support Microsoft Windows Vista Operating Systems with Service Pack 2 (SP2).
     I went back to version F.14 and... boom! New (unknown) device found And guess what, it's ACPI/HPQ0004... So now my HDD is protected again ^^ yay!
    I don't know which of these changes cause that, but it looks that that can be fixed.
    I'll go back to F.16 again to see if the device will disappear and then contact HP support on that case.
    EDIT: Well, F.16 breaks things again, so it's definetely a BIOS problem. Thanks for... umm... well... at least spread the word, guys I hope this helps if someone has the same problem.
