Buddy gave me his Nano 2g!!! mean message on connecting...

So my buddy bought a new iPod and i was in the right place at the right time! I took the machine home and promptly hooked it to my keyboard which didn't work and then it worked on the back of my iMac.
When i start iTunes i get an error:
The iPod "My Buddy's name here" is syncedwith another iTunes library. An iPod can be synced with only one iTunes library at a time. What would you like to do?
"Erase and Sync" replaces the contents of this iPod with the contentsof this iTunes library.
"Transfer Purchases" copies iTunes Store purchases this computer is authorized to play from this iPod to this iTunes library.
And then the options are Cancel, Transfer Purchases, Erase and Sync.
So what should I be doing here?
If he bought the songs shouldn't I be able to listen to them on that machine, and then add stuff from my collection? Right now it seems like I could put on headphoens and listen to his songs(no hphones close by) so why is this so hard?
I've been collecting CD's forever and have boxes I have been ripping to my computer. Thousands and thousands. So is big brother watching how I use my iPod?
I'm not sure i really get the whole "library" concept. Can I just use iTunes as a player without the library part?
Thanks,
Ron

Well....im not quite sure what you want to do with the songs.....
IF
A: you want to use your friend's songs and ALSO your own songs that you've been importing from your CDs, then i suggest you get YAMIPOD
http://www.yamipod.com/main/modules/downloads/
and this will allow you to save your friend's songs to your computer then to your library (iTunes) to be able to sync all your songs w/out having to erase his songs or your songs
B: you want to use just your friend's songs and use your computer as a charging station....
then whenever you plug in your iPod, just click "CANCEL" when the alert to sync comes up, and change the settings of the iPod to "do not open iTunes when you plug in your IPod"

  • My friend gave me his nano with a cracked screen, anything I can really do?

It works perfectly, except the for the whole cracked screen, I was just wondering if there was any support I could get besides sending it to one of those 3rd party repair sites.

If I had a Nano with a broken screen, I'd look for someone selling a DOA Nano on eBay, buy it (if reasonable), and perform brain surgery on my Nano, using the screen from the dead Nano.
If you're not up to this type of stuff, try to find an iPod hacker who might do it for you. Sites exist on the net that go into the details of iPod disassembly.
Alternately, sell your broken Nano on eBay and put the proceeds towards a new iPod.

  • My pro crashed on me last april.  this week bought a new 13" pro.     I have 8 years worth of Final Cut on hard drives.  I had bought fcp4 I think in 2004, and a buddy gave me his Studio 3 last year.... it won't launch into this new system.  How to access

my first time in the support community....  i asked a question above....  if I sign out, can I reopen tomorrow, or does one stay online.   I want to be able to access my FCP files.    I've a new pro this week.... and it's not opening FCP....

FCP4 is not supported as it is a Power PC app, but if you install FCS3 from the install discs, FCS3 (FCP7) should work.
Migrating the pro apps is not recommend as a best practice, but it is done.
60 GB of free space on your system drive is not a good idea, having about 20% free is usually about as little as recommended.
FCP-X uses a completely new editing paradigm, some like it, some don't. There is nothing similar about the way one edits with FCP-X and editing in Final Cut Pro, and your legacy projects that were created in Final Cut are not directly useable in FCP-X. There are third party apps that are available that will convert FCP legacy projects into FCP-X useable files, but there are limitations.

Premiere is much more similar to editing in FCP 7 and earlier than FCP-X is. You can even switch the keyboard short cuts in Premiere to the same shortcuts used in FCP.

Alright, so my ipod touch stopped working, but I can still connect it to itunes, but my friend gave me his old nano. I was wondering how I could get my more updated songs from my ipod touch onto th nano. My laptop crashed whitch had all my new music, and im afraid if I sync my Ipod touch to the desktop with all my old songs, ill lose all my newer ones which I dont want to happen because I want them on my nano. Im sorry for the confusing topic im just so lost.

All you have to do is connect your new iPod to the computer that has the library for your old iPod.
When iTunes comes up, click on your new iPod under Devices.
At the top of the Summary Page click Music.
    Click Synch Music.
Do the same thing for Photos, Apps, Movies and so on...
    Now just synch the iPod.

my brother gave me his iphone and i activated it with my phone number but i can not receive any message and i notice that  on iMessage stills appears his phone number, what do i have to do?

Launch iTunes on your computer, plug the phone in & on the "Summary Pane", select "Restore". This will restore the phone to factory settings with all of your son's stuff gone. You can now use it as an iPod touch. To do this REQUIRES the deactivated sim card be still installed in the phone.

  • A friend gave me his Product Key for activation

    Hello,
A friend gave me his Windows 7 Home Basic product key so I could activate this edition of Windows on my PC, because he bought the Ultimate Edition of Windows 7. I could activate it successfully on my hardware! But I need to know something.
I think the key is OEM, so is it true that Microsoft will check if the key pairs with my hardware, after a few days that I activated? Or it wouldn't even activate if it wasn't possible to use the Key on another hardware?
BTW, I have a DVD another friend gave me, with all the editions of WIndows 7, and that's where I "test activated" it. It doesn't contain SP1 so I'm willing to install Windows via the Official ISO as you never know what might be inside other people's
install medias. Will the Key work on SP1?
    Thanks!

Ok, when I go into my Apple ID account, everything looks right.  It does show my user name.  It's only on the iPod that it shows my husband's previous user name, and it asks for his password.  Everything in iTunes and my account looks right.  The issue only seems to be with the actual device, iPod Touch 4th gen.
There is more than one way to access the Apps Store and the iTunes store.  One is via iTunes on your computer, and the other is via the apps on your iPod.
Just because you are logged in on your computer does not mean you are logged in on your iPod.
The reason your husband's user name comes up is because he was the last one to log on.  You can change that by going to Settings>Store.  Tap the Apple ID, Tap Sign Out, Tap Sign In, Tap Use Existing Appel ID, enter your e-mail address and Apple ID password, and tap OK.

  • Husband gave me his ipod and now I want to put my songs on it.

My old iPod was stolen, so husband gave me his. His was under separate iTunes and my iTunes has different songs. How do I put my songs on this new/old iPod?
    Thanks for any help.

When you connect the iPod to your iTunes library, you should see a message appear telling you that the iPod is associated with another library and asking you if you want to erase the contents of the iPod and synchronize with the new iTunes (i.e. your iTunes library).
Clicking "yes" to this message will erase the current contents of the iPod and replace it with the contents of your iTunes library. Thereafter you can sync the iPod as normal.
That's all there is to it.

  • I have an iPad w iTunes. My hubby just got a new nano and I'd like to sync our music to his nano, but dont know how. Help we've already taken a great mp3 back to exchange it for this nano.

I have an iPad w iTunes, my hubby just got a new nano and we would like to sync music from my iPad (and not lose my songs in the process).  I do not have iTunes on a pc so I don't know how to share music.

There is no way to share your music on the iPad to his Nano without a computer - that I can think of anyway. No third party application will work unless both devices have WiFi and many of them require a computer as well.
I would suggest downloading iTunes on your PC, transfer your music to the iTunes library and then sync the Nano.
Maybe I am missing something but I don't think this is possible as you are currently set up.

Does the iPod show up in iTunes on the Mac? If not try:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X
    also
If you  have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears. and Control+B to show the Menu bar
Otherwise what happens when you try to sync? Note that you can only sync with one iTunes library/computer. If that is the problem you should go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase and content and setting and set up the iPod on you computer/iTunes library. One content on the iPod does not belong to you.

    Hi Velvalee,
While there may not be specific information about that error, here is an article of steps for troubleshooting connectivity issues with the iTunes store:

If that article does not help, there is a link near the bottom for an additional article of advanced troubleshooting.
