BuddyAPI Xtra for Mac

I'm doing that cross-platform thing working on a PC. I
understand that I have to include the Xtra in the projector, (In
the help text it says include "flattened copies" whatever that is).
I believe I need the Buddy API Xtra for the Mac. But if I download
the Mac version I can't open it. What am I not getting here?

folder and
I'm not sure that Gary provides this.
Given that you eventually need to extract the hqx archive
that's
published, and that this *must* be done on a Mac, I publish
Shockwave
projectors and provide libraries and xtras in the bundle I
build for the
Mac - and I set all this up on a Mac.

Unzip Xtra for Mac

Hi All,
I am developing a hybrid application which receives updates
in ZIP from the web. Windows is no problem. I am using the bundled
Unzip Xtra in Director. The problem is that, the file and folder
names in the bundled updates, sometimes are more than 32 characters
long. As a result, the Unzip xtra on Mac will truncate the
file/folder names to under 32 characters thus ruining my updates. I
searched for an Unzipping xtra for Mac but could ot find any that
would allow for unzipping more than 32 character long file/folders.
Any ideas how do I proceed with this?

Go with Luke's idea - baRunProgram on a Mac doesn't take
command line
arguments, although I'm not sure OS X comes with unzip - two
I just checked
didn't (OS X 10.3 and 10.4). Gzip is pretty much a certainty.

BaMoveCursor Xtra for Mac

Hello, I'm developing a game that uses the baMoveCursor Xtra,
and it works great in Shockwave on PCs, but I can't get it to work
on Macs (Intel/Mac). The Xtra just doesn't download and install
when testing the game on a Mac.
I know there is an authoring version of the baMoveCursor Xtra
for Mac, but is there a Shockwave version for Mac?

Xtra for windows

I am creating a project on mac to be viewed on windows
system. How can I do with xtra. The director xtras for mac doesn't
work on pc. Should I buy a kit? Where can I find it?

If you aren't using any 3rd party xtras and you're not
creating a
Shockwave projector then publishing on a Mac for Windows
should work
fine. But be sure to test it on Windows (perhaps under
Parallels) when done.

Need v11.5 Xtras for e-mail, saving list variables

Hi all,
I'm working on a new DVD project that needs to run on the latest Windows and Mac platforms, but am having trouble finding Xtras that have been updated for Director 11.5 and have been recompiled for Intel-based Macs.
Specifically, I am looking for Xtras with these features:
1. Ability to send e-mails. DirectEMail appears to be the most-recommended, but the newest version I see is dated 2004. StarSoft has an Xtra that only lists Windows platforms as compatible. Is there anything good out there for Director 11.5 for both platforms?
2. Ability to save/retrieve Lingo variables (specifically lists) to/from a disk file. I've looked at both PropSave (appears to be very outdated - 2002?) and vList (newest version is 11.5-compatible, but appears to be discontinued - no obvious way to order from their web site). Can anyone suggest anything?

Xtras for iOS!

Yes, I've almost got this. I've followed Adobe's own documents for creating Xtras and am almost there. Unfortunately, their document doesn't work. I have an excellent Mac programmer that has made Xtras for me for Mac. He's tried everything to make an Xtra I desperately need for my work with disabled children. He was VERY close. We have contacted Adobe and a gentleman said he was asking another dept. to work on it. It's been almost 3 weels now and we haven't heard back.
9/19: I have already forwarded your issue to the product team and I am currently waiting for their response on this. Please allow me some time to check with them , I will surely update you once I get any response from them .

If Adobe can help us with this, we plan to share this knowledge. Director is still the best, fastest, and most versatile RAD tool available. Even now for iOS it might be best out there. Nothing comes close!
Please Adobe, follow through on your own documentation and help us to complete our Xtra! It will help many children!

Opening animated gif in PSE 8 for Mac

I am switching from PSE for PC to PSE 8 for Mac.
I have always been able to open animated gif as layers and work with them, then resave as an updated animated gif.
WIth PSE 8 for Mac, I get a pop up that the file is animated and can only see the top frame. Any ideas on how to open up all of the frames in layers?

Do I need to enable this process for my Mac? Maybe I'm missing a plug-in or update?
I have been opening these files from others, tweeking and resaving for almost 2 years in PSE. It definitely will not shuffle the individual panels on an animated gif into the layers box.
My tweeking usually involves adjusting frame speed. Is that what you mean by 'frame rate'?

How do i add multiple lines in a cell (like a list) in Excel for MAC?

I'm trying to add multiple lines (in the form of a list) in a individual cell in Excel for MAC. I used ALT Enter on my PC but that doesn't work on the iMac. Does anyone know how to do this?

It's been a while but I think you hold SHIFT while typing a page break (RETURN) to make a new line without shifting to another cell.
However, as Excel isn't an Apple product, I am sure you will get a faster and more current answer by using Microsoft's Office:Mac forums here:

What about OSX 10.11 "El Capitian"?
In the last few weeks I've seen some folks asking about 10.11, which is currently available as a pre-release. At the moment, SAV 9.2.7 *should* work if SAV is already installed before you upgrade, but the install will fail if you attempt to install a fresh copy post-upgrade. That said, we'll be releasing another update for SAV prior to the official release of 10.11 "El Capitain" which will ensure full compatibility, so at the moment we recommend upgrading with caution.

I can no longer read any material in nook for mac. I have a macbook pro running lion. I used to be able to but something changed and i can no longer read it. any help?

I have nook for mac loaded on my macbook pro. When I try to open a book or magazine nothing happens. I`ve downloaded the nook program twice thinking it was a bad download but to no avail. Any help?

I found the following suggested fix, posted by a user on Barnes & Noble's site:
1. Create a folder in your Applications folder, call it: NOOKforMac
Once you've done this, copy the Nook app to this folder. This should allow the app to run on the 1st or possibly second attempt to launch it.
2. Once you're done using the app always quit it by clicking on the X (red in some cases) button of the application window (upper left hand corner)
This seems to have resolved the issue and my guess is that somehow the .dmg volume path is somewhere hard coded in the app configuration.
Elsewhere in that thread, the administrator advises calling Customer Service Team at 1-800-THE-BOOK (1-800-843-2665) and choose option 2 for Digital Support.

Want to use my ipod for Mac @ home and PC @ work....

I have a Mac at home and have my ipod set up for the Mac I guess. So I brought the ipod to work today to hook it up to itunes here on my PC, but itunes says only Windows formatted ipods can be used and that I have to do a restore on my ipod to use it.
I thought you could use the ipod on multiple computers? I thought it didn't matter if it was set for Mac or PC because you could still use it on both.
Any help? I want to connect my ipod at work so I can get the music on this computer. Thanks!!

Windows computers cannot read the file format the iPods are in when they are formatted for Mac use. However, Macs can read the Fat32 file format that the iPods go in when they are formatted for Windows.
To use the iPod with both computers, you'll have to first restore the iPod on your Windows computer (putting the iPod into Windows format).
The only downside is if there is an iPod software update, you won't be able to install that to the iPod from the Mac, just from Windows computers.

How to format an external drive for mac AND pc use

i want to format my external drive so i can use it on my mac and on pc's as well. i've gathered that the MS-DOS format is the way to go. my question is this: would this create any problems for my mac then?
can i partion one part for ms-dos and part for macos extended?

MS-DOS format (or FAT32) will be fine for both Mac and PC. However there is a 4GB file size limit with FAT32.
You could use a dual partition, however the HFS+ partition would not be readable by the PC unless you installed the third party MacDrive.

If you need to carry large files (e.g., larger than about 4GB) back and forth, you may need ExFAT. Otherwise MS-DOS works for smaller files.
The Mac can Read, but not write Windows New Technology File System (NTFS) without an add-on program such as Paragon NTFS.
