  • HT204088 I installed iphone 5 from iTunes backup but still have one app showing [ ! ] not installed can not find file . How do I get rid of this pop up

I installed iphone 5 from itunes back up and get a pop up [ ! ] app not installed can not find file. I have looked through everything that have with "CANADA" in the app title. That is the only info there is.

If you haven't found out which app it is then if you go into list view in the Apps part of your library do any of the apps have an exclamantion mark against them ? If they do then they are the one(s) that iTunes can't find the actual app file(s) for - if you delete that app from your library then if it is still in then you should be able to re-download it via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage on your computer's iTunes, or you can just download it directly on your phone via the Purchased tab in its App Store app

    It should be in /System/Library/Frameworks/
10.6 update 3 deprecated that path, and since that Java update (if you've installed it) it would be
    /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/
    and
    /System/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/

What are you refering to here? Mac OS 9 came out around 2001 ( or about ).  Mac OS 9 last run  in an emulation mode in 10.4.11 -- Tiger.  Mac OS 9 ran on PPC machines that were last produced before 2004 or so.
I think your conclusion you need Mac OS 9 is incorrect.

iPhoto '11, Mac OS X (10.6.8), need to upgrade system to 10.8
We need to verify some information.  Are you really running 10.6.8?  What hardware?
Here is how to find out what version of Mac OS you are running:
Click on the blue apple in the upper left hand of the screen.
    click on this icon
Click on the first line, "About This Mac"
Most of these are numbers & that's what we want.
What version & Processor do you have?

  • Windows 7 Install - Can't find my hard-drive!

Hi guys, i'm hoping someone can help. I've recently bought a brand new Toshiba Satellite pro L650 (PSK1KA-02D01E) running Windows 7 After a few weeks, things started to get really slow. Then I woke up one morning to discover it stuck on the first screen when I turn it on.
I thought I had a virus, so then decided to do a full re-format and re-install windows. After I formatted the correct partition, I went to install Windows 7 again Only for it to say "windows could not detect a disc drive" it asks me to install drivers for the hard-drive, which I can't seem to find.
it's a sata hard-drive (TOSHIBA MK6465GSX) I think is the model number. I can not find the hard-drive drivers anywhere. The other strange thing, is every now and then, it finds the hard-drive, but states that windows can not install onto that drive (even when I format it, try to add a partition and so forth) I have been into bios, I don't really know a great deal of what I am looking at, but it sometimes states my hard-drive is there, and other times it does not.
I am so desperate to get this fixed. Does anyone have any ideas? I live pretty remotely so taking it back and getting it fixed is not ideal.. but maybe necessary.
    Thanks in anticipation..
    - Gavin.

It sounds like the hard drive is dying.  The Win7 install shouldn't need a driver for the drive.

  • Where can I find downloads for Mac OS 7-9 (out of curiosity)

I briefly remember that apple offered Operating systems older than Mac OS X for download but I still can't find them. If you knows were to find Mac OS 7-9 please tell me at your earliest convenience.

    Hi, glider -
Can you update Mac OS 7/8 straight to Mac OS 9?
Yes, on those machines rated by Apple for OS 9. You will need to acquire a retail OS 9 Install CD in order to do that - there are no download updates to take any version of OS 7 to any version of OS 8, nor any version of OS 8 to any version of OS 9. Each of those major-version jumps can be made only by using a retail OS Install CD; however, intermediate versions are not needed.
The best way to install a major-version jump is via a Clean Install. Note that a Clean Install (in Mac terminology) will not remove anything; instead, it installs a brand new System Folder, renames the old one to Previous System Folder, installs a new set of utility apps, and little else.

As far as suitability of OS 9 for an older machine, this Apple KBase article lists what OS versions (amongst the OS 8 and OS 9 families) are supported by Apple for which machines -

  • [SOLVED]Grub-Install can't Find Kernel and/or initrd, mkinitcpio Fails

    Hi all,
I have recently installed Arch on my new build (with UEFI firmware). I successfully set up xorg, alsa/pulseaudio, xfce, etc... things were looking pretty good. Then, I tried to blacklist the pcspkr in order to silence the annoying beep every time I selected "Log Out" inside xfce. I executed
    mkinitcpio -p linux
and was presented with the following errors:
==> Building image from preset: 'default'
    -> -k /boot/vmlinuz-linux -c /etc/mkinitcpio.conf -g /boot/initramfs-linux-fallback.img -S autodetect
==> ERROR: specified kernel image does not exist: `/boot/vmlinuz-linux'
==> Building image from preset: 'fallback'
    -> -k /boot/vmlinuz-linux -c /etc/mkinitcpio.conf -g /boot/initramfs-linux-fallback.img -S autodetect
==> ERROR: specified kernel image does not exist: `/boot/vmlinuz-linux`
There were no such files anywhere on /boot. I tried doing
    find / -name vmlinuz-linux
and nothing was found. I wasn't quite sure why that was happening, but I tried uninstalling/reinstall grub (grub-common and grub2-efi-x86_64). I installed grub to /boot using
    grub-install --directory=/usr/lib/grub/x86_64-efi --target=x86_64-efi --efi-directory=/boot --bootloader-id="Arch Linux" --boot-directory=/boot --recheck --debug
and then generated /boot/grub/grub.cfg. I tried rebuilding the initramfs again but got the same error. I was tired and frustrated so I removed the old grub efi entry with
    efibootmgr -b 0 -B
    and then went to sleep.
I didn't have the chance to turn the computer back on until tonight... I was then presented with a grub2 shell. Since I didn't know where the kernel/initrd were located I tried
    set root=(hd1,gpt1)
    chainloader +1
    but grub told me
    error: invalid EFI file path
So that's about it. It appears that grub-mkconfig is having trouble locating the kernel/initrd so it doesn't make any entries, dropping me right into a shell. I've tried booting up with my installation USB and chrooting in and reinstalling grub again but nothing seems to work. So what I'd like to try to do is just boot up into my system and then modify add the grub boot entries entries I want... but I just can't figure out what's causing all these issues.
Sorry if I mess up any terminology... still learning the ropes here. Thanks for any input.

Probably because you have a separate boot partition (not just the 512 MB "UEFISYS" FAT32 partition), which you forgot to mount (in fstab).
    Post your /etc/fstab.
    Thank you for your reply!
However, I do not have a separate boot partition apart from the "UEFISYS" partition. Here is my fstab:
    # UUID=3ec307aa-0ead-4d33-b292-42bbe783d6ee
    /dev/sda2 / ext4 rw,relatime,data=ordered 0 1
    # UUID=B192-6C57
    /dev/sda1 /boot vfat rw,relatime,fmask=0022,dmask=0022,codepage=cp437,iocharset=iso8859-1,shortname=mixed,errors=remount-ro 0 2
When I first looked at the fstab I saw that both of the entries repeated themselves. This was because I had even tried reformatting /boot so I had to generate a new fstab, but for some reason I used ">> /mnt/etc/fstab" rather than "> ..."
    So I executed
    genfstab /mnt > /mnt/etc/fstab
and reinstalled grub, but still no difference... mkinitcpio fails and I reboot to a grub shell.

  • Freemind won't run after install, can't find Java

    Hi,
I attempted to install freemind using the following command:
    pacman -S freemind
It installed along with the relevant Java dependency.
When I try to run freemind I get the following error:
    which: no java in (/bin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/usr/sbin:/opt/kde/bin:/usr/bin/perlbin/site:/usr/bin/perlbin/vendor:/usr/bin/perlbin/core:/opt/qt/bin)
ERROR: Couldn't find a java virtual machine,
define JAVACMD, JAVA_BINDIR, JAVA_HOME or PATH.
When I attempt to run 'freemind.jar' via java itself using the following command:
    /opt/java/jre/bin/java freemind.jar
    I get the following error:
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: freemind/jar
    Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: freemind.jar

    at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:252)
    at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClassInternal(ClassLoader.java:320)
Could not find the main class: freemind.jar. Program will exit.
Any help would be much appreciated

I can run Freemind - no problem. I have (previously) installed Java using jdk package
    There are two possible problems:
    1) Program's execute file is /usr/share/freemind/freemind.sh - it's shell script, so you will have to run it from terminal using command
    bash /usr/share/freemind/freemind.sh (it's how I ran it)
Remember - you can't (usually) run Java programs from *.jar files, because Java has to have declared some variables first (that's what that shell script  is for - Windows are using their typical exe files for running Java programs )
    2) You don't have correct Java. There are two types of Java: opensource (openjdk) and "original" Java from Sun. openjdk is (fully) opensource, but lacks some of Sun's Java features, but because it's opensource, it's generally favourized (hope that it's the correct word) in Linux and Java-dependent packages in Arch usually installs that.
Try uninstall both Freemind and whatever Java you are using now and install first java from Sun (packages jre and jdk, jdk is mostly for Java developers and should not be needed to run programs) and then install Freemind.
Edit: It's possible that you will need to restart computer after installing Java (but probably not)

  • Adobe PDF Writer (v5.0) won't install; can't find LPT1 port

I've searched extensively for an answer on this question, and the most common answer is no answer or use a newer PDF creator.
The department I support uses database software that was never programmed to support any PDF creator past PDF Writer, so all users of this software have Acrobat Professional 5.0.5 installed using the "Custom" option to include the PDF Writer.
All workstations run XP, sp3.  I have never seen this problem on any other machine.  I have installed version 5 on other machines with newer installations of Acrobat (7,8, and 9) with no functionality issues.  The machine that won't install the PDF Writer had V8 installed.  I have removed Acrobat V8 to try to get the V5 installation to run.  I have tried running the V5 installation first without PDF Writer, and then adding in the PDF Writer.
In all cases, as soon as you click "Install" after checking "PDF Writer", the error "Acrobat PDF Writer requires a LPT1: printer port.  Setup could not find this required port.  The PDF Writer component will not be installed.  To install PDF Writer, add a LPT1: port and run setup again" always appears, and the installation tries to continue without the PDF Writer.
This computer has a fully-functioning LPT1 port (as well as LPT2 and LPT3) which is not in use by any other printers (according to the printer properties display).  XP shows the port under Device Manager as functioning properly, although I have both disabled/re-enabled the port, as well as uninstalling it and rebooting, at which point it re-installs properly.
All high-priority Windows XP updates are current and again, on similar machines, similarly imaged, I have never had this problem using the same media.  I have tried installing a printer on this port and adding drivers.  All machine users have Administrator privileges (unfortunately)
Due to the large quantity of data and software on this user's machine (and the fact that otherwise it runs great), I would REALLY rather not re-image the machine.
Any help or ideas will be GREATLY appreciated.

Hey, good idea, and I hadn't done it, but nothing is remaining from any previous Acrobat installs (according to the Cleanup Utility).  I do pretty good registry cleanup on these machines as I work on them for other reasons/updates.
    Other ideas?
