Budgetary Control and Oracle Projects

Budgetary control for Oracle Projects was mooted as future functionality in 11i. Is this now a reality, and in which release of 11i?
Thanks

Budgetary Control has been added to Projects as part of MiniPack H. The documentation can be found on MetaLink. However, the docuementation does not provide a step by step set guide so I'm having trouble testing this new feature. If you find anyone who has more information regarding budgetary controls and funds check, please let me know.

  • Budgetary Controls and Encumbrance Accounting

My understanding is that if I enable budgetary control in GL then that would force us to enter budgets using journals only (amounts cannot be entered directly). Does budgetary control also force us to use encumbrance accounting? Would PO module then be producing encumbrance if budgetary control is enabled? Can we have budgetary control enabled without forcing the system to produce encumbrance accounting?

    Hi
You must enable encoumbrance accounting in Purchasing and Payables.
however, you could setup the budgetary control of GL as Null. that means the system validation of fund check agains GL budget will always pass (no actula limit). In such case, only project budget will have effective fund check.

  • TFS 2013 Build for PL/SQL and Oracle Projects

    Hi,
We use TFS Build with SQL Server Projects.
We also have PL/SQL projects .We are using MSSCCI to check in and check out files. Is there anyway we can use TFSbuild  for these projects( [PL/SQL]/Oracle) too ?
    Thank you.
    Su

    Hi Su,
    Thanks for your post.
How do you manually build  your PL/SQL/Oracle projects?
TFS Build invoke MSBuild command to build project/solution on build agent machine by default. If these projects can be built using MSBuild command line manually, then we can use TFS Build(default build process template) to build these projects.
If these projects need be built using another complier, and this compiler support run the command line to invoke it, so you can add the InvokeProcess activity(execute the command line) to invoke this compiler to build these projects in build process template,
then create build definition using this customized build process template.

  • MS Dynamics and Oracle Projects

    Hi Folks,
Is there any interface between oracle projects and ms dynamics?
Any shed of light would be highly appreciated.
    Thank you.

There is no interface between Oracle Projects and MS Dynamics. You might have to write your own interface to get data from MSD and interface it to Projects.
    Hope this helps!

  • Legacy Timesheet System and Oracle Projects

    Dear All,
Is it possible to interface legacy timesheet system with Oracle Projects. The intention is to enter timesheets/hours thru the legacy system and calculation of revenue and invoice in Oracle Projects.
    1)Is this achievable, without issues?
2)How complex is this to achieve?
3)Any URL or documentation will be really helpful in this regard.
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Anand

    Hi
There is no need for API.
You should write your own script to populate the interface table.
When you run the process PRC: Transaction Import, the system is validating the transactions. Only the valid transactions are imported as Expenditure Items. Exceptions remain in the interface, and you can review and correct those.
Review the deatils on Oracle Projects APIs, Client Extensions and Open Interface Reference.
Note, you should have set up a Transaction Source in Oracle Projects for your legacy Time system.

  • ITANIUM Grid Control and Oracle 10.2.0.3 update

QA and PROD databases were installed as 10.2.0.1 on Itanium servers.
QA was taken to 10.2.0.3 two weeks ago.
Grid Control AGENT was applied to QA early last week.
    QA database continues to perform
PROD was not taken to 10.2.0.3
Grid Control AGENT was applied to PROD early last week.
    PROD continued to perform.
THIS MORNING applying 10.2.0.3 upgrade to PROD: Installation set passed Deinstall and Install then at LINKING returned "Error in invoking target 'client_sharedlib" of makefile '/oracle/CDWP/orahome/nedtwork/lib/ins_net_client.mk" See '/home...log'. Examining the log led to libclntsh.so.10.1 WITH ZERO FILESIZE LENGTH. Further testing had repeated results.
THIS THREAD WILL BE PLACED IN ENTERPRISE MANAGER AND METALINK.
It appears the ITANIUM GRID CONTROL release was not well QC'd. I am FORCED to recover the PROD database from backup.

  • ActiveX web control and Oracle

Hi, I'm trying to use an ActiveX control embedded in a web page to connect to an Oracle database (Oracle 9i), but I keep getting these security errors. The control is written in C# on Visual Studios 2003. The control runs on the client machine and (I think) tries to use their Oracle oci.dll file to connect.
I have fully trusted my activex control using the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Wizards. When I sign this assembly without using
[assembly: AllowPartiallyTrustedCallersAttribute], it fails to start in IE 6.0.
I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this problem. I guess this is more a Microsoft .Net issue than an Oracle issue, but any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
In RDBMS 10g you cannot directly expose WS from the DB you need to use the OracleAS Web Service Runtime to do it, following this documentation:
    - Developing Web Services that Expose Database Resources
This is true if we are talking about "tooling/runtime/API" but after all Web Services are mainly XML (WSDL and SOAP) so it is still possible to create by hands (PL/SQL & static files) but it is probably a long work depending of the complexity of your services.
Also, in RDBMS 11, you can now directly expose WS from the DB using the embedded HTTP server, see this Oracle 11g New Features Document
Note that before taking one approach you must take time to write up your requirement regarding Web Services eg: do I need security, which time of encoding, interoperability, ..., ... For example WS-Security that is the standard to secure SOAP messages is not (yet) supported by the Oracle 11g RDBMS Native Web Services... where when you do use the WS-Runtime you can secure the Web Service..

  • Oracle Grid Control and Oracle Application Management Pack for Siebel

I am trying to get the Oracle Grid Control Software to work with the Siebel Application Management Pack so that I can effectively monitor Siebel. The client I am at does not have a budget for proper monitoring solution therefore, I have chosen the free alternative. Anyway, the Oracle 10G Agent is running on all the windows Siebel Servers and all of the Siebel Servers appear within the Oracle Grid Control management tool. At this time I am more interested in monitoring the Siebel metrics versus the windows metrics.. I have added Siebel as a Target Subtab within Oracle Grid Control. I have also successfully run through the Oracle Agent 10G SiebelClassPathfix.bat command on each Siebel Windows Server. What I am not able to do is add a Siebel Enterprise through the Oracle Grid Control Manager Software. When I attempt to add a Siebel Enterprise I receive the following error message. Any suggestions would be beneficial.
An error occured while adding Siebel Enterprise.
Credentials - Missing Credentials for host halcrmtgw01.dinghy.hal.test

Please log a service request with tech support so that we can track this inquiry. On the service request, capture a screenshot of the page where you defined the host preferred credentials, and tell us the names of your servers.
Btw, I take that you are stuck in the step in which you:
    - Click the "Add Enterprise" button to add the enterprise
    - Fill in the 7 parameters
    - Click Ok to start the discovery process
Which release of Siebel and Enterprise Manager are you using?

  • SQL SSRS 2008 DateTime Calendar Control and Oracle 10g Data Source

Hello. I am creating reports in SSRS 2008 using the calendar control for a date range. Let's say we select a start date of 3/3/2012. This parameter is sent into my SQL statement in the WHERE clause which is executed against an Oracle 10g database. All syntax has to be in SQL that Oracle understands, so no CONVERT or CAST.
The format of the date is throwing an error "ORA-01843: not a valid month" when I try to use the following:
    SELECT *
    FROM TABLE
    WHERE STARTDATE >= TO_DATE('3/03/2012', 'MM/DD/YYYY')
I get ORA-01722: invalid number when I try the following:
    SELECT *
    FROM TABLE
    WHERE STARTDATE >= >= TO_CHAR('3/03/2012', 'MM/DD/YYYY')
I cannot find a way to format the date parameter in SQL Server SSRS before it gets to the SQL to be executed in Oracle.
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    Sunny

You are right, it sure doesn't prove anything other than how the date looks right out of the Oracle database, but hopefully, it will give a clue as to how I need my SSRS date parameter to work.

It works. The problem is getting the parameter '3/3/2012' into a usable format for Oracle.
Let's assume an application is sending in '3/3/2012' which will be used in an Oracle query (no PL/SQL allowed, nor can I create functions, stored procedures, etc - only straight up SQL). How can I prepare the parameter to successfully do the compare on the Oracle Date field?

  • Is Oracle Project Management has all features which Microsoft Project Plan?

    Hello Experts,
Customer wanted to start using Oracle Project Management suit completly along with little Microsoft project plan. as of now most of the projects are using microsoft project plan for project management and Oracle Project suit is for Costing and Billing.
But in order to start this initiative, we need to explain the difference which Oracle Project Management can not able to do but Microsoft project plan can. Based on this management will take the decesion.
As per my understanding, Orace Project Management can perform all the tasks except scheduling. As it supports scheduling from third party software like Microsoft project plan / primavera etc.
Rest I think Oracle Project management suit is equally matured to perform all the project management task which Mircosoft project management can perform.
So experts , can you please confirm my understanding and provide me some light on this topic.
    Thanks :-)

    Hi,
First of all, I would like to know what are the various things you are performing with a Microsoft project plan apart from scheduling the resources to a specific project .
Through Oracle Project Management, you can control the visibility of a resource, assign it to a particular project and control the tracking of the time in various assignments. If that is what you are trying to achieve through Oracle Project Management icnluding the other features it has, you can surely go for it.
Let me know if you have any doubts on it.

  • MSP Integration with Oracle Projects

    Hi Dina,
Does the integration between MSP and Oracle Projects work without any issues in R 12.1.3? We've tried using it in the past with R 12.0.6 but have to say the experience was not good. It used to work at times and fail on other times. Most of the times the first time import from MSP to Oracle Project used to work but subsequent changes to the WBS used to give issues while trying to import into Oracle Projects (even though the link to the Oracle Project existed in MSP).
One of our new customers (Construction Company) wants to create the WBS in MSP (Microsoft Project ver 2003 or 2007) and then import it into Oracle Projects to track progress, effort and cost. Any changes to the WBS (which happens frequently) will be done in MSP and imported back into Oracle Projects. Does the above mentioned requirement work consistently in R 12.1.3? Please let us know.
    Thanks
    Regards,
    Sri

The MSP integration requirements that you describe should work in the latest versions of 11i e.g. (FP.M RUP4) as well as R12.1.3.
My experience is that providing all scheduling is done in MSP then the integration functionality works well.
The recommended process flow for MSP integration is:-
    •     Oracle Projects: A project manager creates a project in Oracle Projects from a project template containing information for deliverables, work breakdown structures, and resource assignments
    •     MSP: The unscheduled resource and workplan data is downloaded to Microsoft Project for scheduling
    •     MSP: The project is scheduled in Microsoft Project based on task assignments, task dependencies, task constraints, and other attributes
    •     MSP: The scheduled workplan data is uploaded to Oracle Projects for publishing
    •     Oracle Projects: The project workplan is published in Oracle Projects
    •     Oracle Projects: After the workplan is published, the project is accessible to all team members working on the project. Team members work on their assignments and report their progress in Oracle Projects
    •     Oracle Projects: The team members' progress on the tasks is collected for updating the project plan
    •     Oracle Projects: The project plan is updated with the team members' progress
    •     MSP: The project is now unscheduled. The unscheduled project plan is downloaded to Microsoft Project for rescheduling
    •     MSP: The project plan is rescheduled in Microsoft Project and the task information is updated
    •     Oracle Projects: The rescheduled workplan is uploaded to Oracle Projects for publication

  • Oracle Project Connect - MSP2000 Does it work?

We're looking at implementing Oracle Project Connect 2.5.1 with MSP2000 SR-1 and Oracle Projects 11. In terms of licencing 'Oracle project connect' has been 'absorbed' into Oracle Projects, so you may not find any general manuals on this. You are right there isn't a lot of data on it. I assume you have tried Metalink otherwise If you are interested I can probably get something. [email protected]
