Buffalo Link Station Live

Hi,
I've got Infinity with a Home Hub 3 and the Huawei box in front of it. Have a Buffalo Link Station on the gigabit port of the hub and all works fine - can view files from the LS on any device connecting to the hub either wired or wireless and that includes PS3. However, when I try to set up the LS to enable access to it from the internet (using BuffaloNAS.com) it returns a UPnP Gateway not found error. UPnP and extended is enabled on the hub.
Any suggestions as to what's wrong and how I correct it?

Can I use my Buffalo Link station with Time Machine?

I know this has been asked over time, but I cant find a clear answer. I have a two month old MacBook Pro with 10.5.5. Can I use Time Machine with my Buffalo NAS Link Station. And if so, how? I currently have the Buffalo attached to my wireless router. Thanks all!

the clear answer is that this configuration is not supported. the only supported backup to a NAS is to a Time Capsule. there are hacks to make it works with a NAS like yours but they are just that - hacks. Use them at your own peril.

Not able to print with an P1102 through a buffalo link station LS-QVL

Hi,
I've seen older posts on this subject which have not resolved my issue. The printer is visible and the PC (win 7 32 bit) sends the document to the printer, the doc disapears from the que, but never re-appears out of the printer. Full setup for print server on the Buffalo has been followed (p1102 driver in place), and previous post instructions also followed with no results. any ideas?

iPad printing Apps usually need a Mac on the network to enable the printing.
I have not seen any others, but someone else may have better info.
I use an HP App to print from my iPhone, but it does require a Mac on the network that can access the printer to work.

NAS - Buffalo Link station Wireless Connection Problem

Hi there,
don't know why I can't access my NAS wirelessly. It was working well before - I just went to "computer" then" network" and then my NAS appeared on the box.
It is working ok when the iMac connected by a Lan cable.
Please advise which setting I did wrong.

Time Machine not recognizing my Link Station LS CHL

I have updated mac os 10.6.8 with mac os Moutain Lion 10.8.3 and i cannot save and recover with time machine from my Buffalo Link Station LS CHL.

I tried what I understood from the forum and added this "printer" but without success.
What is strange and that I have apparently access to my saveguards from Time Machien but I cannot saveguard anything new. And I have no access to the Link Station form the network.
Since I am a very poor computer / network man I do not understand why apparently there is now an AFP problem.
In fact the message that's appear trying to safeguard with Time Machine is:
Le disque de sauvegarde réseau ne prend pas en charge les fonctionnalités AFP requises.
I could translate this by:
The Network Safeguard Disk does not take into account the required AFP functionality.
What does it mean ?
How to solve that.

Hi Guys,
i have a new NAS BUFFALO link station set up with my itunes library on it,
Time machine works fine and the library(itunes media and folders) are picked up on all our home shared networks.
my issue is this:-
when i shut down my Macbook pro and reopen it on another occasion,
the itunes library defaults back to my Macbook pro directory(empty) and not the one on the NAS (shared) drive(500GB of data used )
Then i have to redirect the library back to the NAS drive through itunes preferences.
Itunes then rebuilds the library....!!!!
this takes quite a while...
Is there a way of shutting off the Macbook itunes library so that it only "sees" the NAS drive library?
or should i create some sort of share/link/alias from the NAS.

The first step is to make sure the NAS disk has mounted before you open iTunes -are you doing this? On waking from sleep or shutdown there will be a delay before the disk mounts, and if you open iTunes (perhaps automatically) before this has happened it will default to the internal disk.

When I type a link to a page in my root directory in code view and I click on the link in live view it does not go to that page. But if I preview in a browser it works fine.

I am not sure however I suspect live view is for viewing the page you are working on. You would have to open the other page to see it in live view. The browser on the other hand is doing what it is designed to do. I jump back and forth all the time from live view to the browsers I have installed.

Macbook Pro: Time Machine to Buffallo Link Station

I've recently switched to using a Macbook - and had already been using a Buffallo LS for back ups with my old PC.
I'd like to use the Time Machine Software with the Buffallo LS, however when I open the app it doesn't give me the LS as an option.
I can see the LS however in finder and access files (via wireless) from there.
Any tips for how to set this up would be a real help - eg. do I need to install NASNavigator on the Mac first?
(I know there were some posts about this some time back but at that point apparently it wasn't possible)

Thanks for the link to that - worked well - although didn't come across anywhere where I needed to input the information in section 5.
I continued with the set up and Time Machine started working - only thing is I've got about 80 gig to get onto the NAS so its going to take some time if I do it via wireless.
Also, for some reason I can now see my Linkstation twice on Finder (once as guest, where it sees only the shared directory, and once as my own login where it sees all directories on the LS through the normal wireless)
Final question - does anyone know if Auto mode on Buffalo Link works with Macbook Pro's on wireless - so that it activates/deactivates with the Mac.

Link Windows LIve Contacts

Hello, I just upgraded my laptop to windows 8.1
Prior to upgrade I have an access database that linked (used as read only) my windows live contacts from outlook.
Now that I have upgraded and reinstalled everything I can no longer link the windows live contacts folder in my access database.
I do recall having to install a fix or add-in that allowed this but cannot locate.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Note: I can link standard contacts folder. Maybe there is a way to sync a standard contacts folder with windows live contacts.

Linking Windows Live Mail address book to LR4

I am having trouble linking my Windows Live Mail address book to LR4?

I'm doing this as follows:
CTRL-SHIFT M then Send without filling in To: and Subject: and in From: Windows Live Mail, file prepares in LR, I use a preset to resize the photo, then Windows Live Mail opens with the file attached, and cursor blinking in address bar, and you have accesss to address book as usual.
How do you do it ?

The menu on desktop only centers on the Home page..moves to the left on all other pages

I attempted an !important tag for those 2 pages to see if I could get the background to stay--obviously didn't work. What do you see that would cause it to shift/bloat only on those 2 pages (Synopsis & Excerpt)? I will add a media query, but I would like it to work if someone is mobile browsing as Desktop. Plus, it's quite bothersome to me and I am PARTICULARLY concerned with iPads.
I apologize that I do not understand how to separate the text from the background as you mentioned, but I would like to..whatever can be done to keep the site consistent.
I have Google'd this over and over, btw. Asking you guys is a last resort, and I appreciate it.

I'm having two problems: a) the browser won't load unless I go through profile manager and at time it won't even load from there and b) the search bar won't search it does nothing as does some links like your link to live chat

Wow that was really quick, thank you so much. Im not sure at all which version it was because i said it was around 4 years ago he bought it. I know it isn't under his username, since he's a PC person (ugh) so i know its probably registered to one of our actual names. isn't there some way to look it up since we did register it, because I'm not even sure where the disks are from when we bought it (we've moved a lot and also have two storage lockers, i know i would have kept it with other disks) but my cd rom drive is actually broken on my computer as well ( i think it got stepped on and is now squished and won't eject or run disks.)
So is there anyway they can look up that its registered to one of our names since we did register it when we bought and installed it, or do i really have to find the disk with some sort of proof of purchase (i know there would be no receipt after all this time)

How so i get direct Access to the Music/pics stored on NAS

How so i get direct Access to the Music/pics stored on a Buffalo Link Station Live with my iPad without using a App? The NAS is conected with a Router. Privatfreigabe (dont know the english Word) is ok. The iTunes Server on NAS is activated. Nö Problem to get Access from iTunes on PCs.
I just want to use the preinstalled Musik/Photo App to Listen/watch my Music/pics stored on the NAS without losging them on the iPad. Streaming is what i think of.

Does Time Capsule mean that backup up to NAS will work?

Forgive me if I have it wrong, but I seem to remember hearing that Time Machine beta supporting backing up to network drives but that functionality was pulled due to various problems in the production release of Time Machine. With the new Time Capsule combination of an Airport Extreme base station with a 500GB/1TB drive does that mean that there will be an update to allow Time Machine to backup to any networked drive or will it have to be the Time Capsule network drive? Or, does anyone know yet?

a long long time ago, and far far away, likely before most of the readers of this were even born, there was a place/company/entity/idea called IBM.
During my days in graduate school I was a programmer/designer/analyst for several local firms in the town where I went to school. One of my clients had a System 3 - running RPG with a network of 3270's.
Now most of you will have no idea of what a 3270 is but suffice it to say that those of us who had to deal with these monsters, before CICS and before BMS, using Modified Data Tags (MDT) and Set Buffer Addresses (SBA) were the real Right Stuff. And that's when a "Green Card" meant something - and even more if you were privileged enough to have a "Yellow Card - SOC7 and SRL meant the end of the world. Today any coding claim for GUI, HTML, JAVA or whatever pales in its insignificance.
Well, on with my story.
So one day we ordered an "upgrade" to our Printer. Our printer was a 300 lpm (that's Lines Per Minute) that, due to increased business volume, we wanted to "upgrade" to 600 lpm. Back in those days you either leased or purchased (with a service contract) all of your "stuff" from computers to typewriters with Selectric Elements fom IBM.
So on the appointed/anointed day the IBM person (they were called either SE's for System Engineers or TSR for Technical Support Representative) arrived and I greeted him at the door.
Figuring that an upgrade to a behemoth line printer would be an extensive task, I noticed that he was carrying only a miniscule case. I had expected him to install a new motor, a new power supply, and to replace the print chain (a long connected circular wraparound band that contained several rows of all printable characters) which I was certain that although it could stand up to a force of 300 lpm that it would have to be retired and replaced in order to withstand the pounding of 600 lpm.
The IBM rep had a bag smaller than Marcus Welby's.
He approached the printer, pushed the button to raise the cover, didn't even turn the printer off, gently removed one gear, and pushed the button that closed the cover.
Our "upgrade" was there all of the time -we just needed to have someone "deinstall our previously installed downgrade"
My point - an "upgrade" doesn't necessarily mean "adding" - especially if the functionality was already there.
So ---- what did Apple "turn on" to get the Time Thing to work???
Or what did they turn off?
FYI - I a running a Mac Book, a Mac Book Pro, a PB G4 with an AEBS connected to a USB disk, along with a Buffalo Link Station Live and Time Machine works fine, has been since early November, backing up to the USB disk connected to the AEBS and to the Link Station.

Apple TV and a NAS

I have an ATV and am running out of room to synch to it from the iTunes on my iMac. I have an iMac connected wirelesly to my Airport Extremem(APX, using n protocol), a PC Cat5 coneected to the APX, the ATV connected wirelessly to the APX. I have a "MYBook" connected via USB to the iMac that I use primarily for time machine backups and some storage.
So I am thinking of instead of having the files on my iMac internal drive and synched over to the ATV I would put them on a NAS along with my photo library and other things. It would also let my PC access the files.
So what I am asking is does anyone have any experience with storing the media files on a NAS with iTunes and ATV accessing them directly from their? In the software update will the ATV be able to access the files directly from a NAS with out the need for my iMac(running iTunes) to be turned on? Do you have any recommendations for a NAS drive? I am looking at the LaCie 2Big Network 1TB, Buffalo Link Station Live or the HP Media Smart server.

I used a APX with a Lacie 500gb drive for streaming to my Macbook for a while. It worked fine except for downloading of new videos for some reason, playback worked perfect. But, this was before I had an Apple TV.
If you have an old computer laying around this will work.
I have all my media files, movies, tv shows and music all on a 1TB my book in my basement attached to my old G4 733 tower. I can sync and stream the files from the G4 and my Macbook, whichever I want. I just keep the ITunes libraries on both computers synced with Chronsync so all info is the same on both computers. I just have both systems point to the "Media" hard disc in iTunes. This works great. I can even watch movies and listen to music wirelessly on the macbook from anywhere in my house. It's a great use for an old computer gathering dust in the basement. The only 2 bad things I've found so far is that none of the media files exist on the macbook, so when I'm away from home all I have is whats on my ipod. And I have to make sure the "Media" disc is mounted on my Macbook's desktop before I open iTunes.
