Buffalo Linkstation works with all PC's but not iMac - With Airport Extreme

Hi. I hope someone can help. Been at this for days, even AppleCare can't help....
We have a Buffalo linkstation hooked to a new Airport Extreme.
All PCs can see it and view documents, iTunes, etc. My iMac cannot. Actually, I think it sees it but it's a mere file on my desktop. When I click on it, it pulls up a Finder type window, but this Buffalo icon (like network icon) can't be mounted in my normal finder main section. I can't figure out how to do that.
When I open Finder, I don't see the buffalo at all but have to go thru many libraries to find it. When I click on it ("connect") to it, It says "Select the SMB/CIFS shared volume you want to connect to: I click on the name, but it says "the alias blablabla could not be opened because the original item cannot be found. It gives the option to fix alias so I hit that and it puts me in my "documents" area and won't let me go anywhere else.
OMG... Can someone tell me how to get this thing working? I can see the files but they are so buried. I'd like to take this Buffalo which seems to be on my desktop and mount it? to the right area of my Finder.
All I want to do is see the darned iTunes on the buffalo wirelessly via airport extreme. LOL All other computers (PC's) did this instantly. Help?

Yes, I can see everything I need to see (external HD)....
I even dragged the darned thing into the finder...
Now my upper left box of the finder says:
Network
Share (that's my external buffalo HD)
Windox XP
iMac
The problem with the above is that "Share" is not mounted. It has the eject button next to it. I think (maybe) I could get this functioning if I could mount this darned thing but I can't for the life of me get it to do that. Any ideas?
EDIT: I'm not sure how to use directory access utility. Do I need to?

1) If you have OD set up and "editor" has UID 1111, then when they log in to any machine that's bound to OD as editor, they will get UID 1111. Therefore, there won't be any of these permission errors. This is typically the recommended approach.
2) I assume you mean "You'd prefer to not using open directory?" Whatever the case, OD isn't mandatory with Xsan -- it's just that with multiple user accounts, managing them centrally tends to be easier. For 3 or 4 accounts and 3 or 4 machines maybe it's no big deal. If you go larger, it could get a lot more complicated. That said, if you set it up such that each machine has the exact same set of users (as you said, Mary = UID 502, Fred = UID 503, William = UID 504), then you can do what you want. Mary can log in from multiple machines at the same time, and in general you won't have permissions problems. Of course, if you try and read and write the same file from multiple workstations at the same time, you will get file locking issues, which will prohibit somebody from successfully writing the file.
File locking issues are different from general permissions errors. The former basically says "hey, someone else is editing this file. Therefore I won't let you edit it right now... you can read it if you want though." Permissions means somebody saves it, and Xsan thinks you saved it and own the file, when you really don't.

IPhone 4 activated with Sprint... but not activating with Apple?

I activated an iPhone at the Sprint store yesterday, and it activated fine with the carrier, but not with Apple. I was told that it is a problem with the servers due to iOS 7 coming out, so how long should I expect to be waiting for this problem to be solved?

Right now I'm in Dominican Republic, but I'll be in NY by 15th so I must get thru this 1 week, btw, right now it says it's charging it's at 14% I dont't believe its a faulty charger as I use it (the adaptor) to charge my mom's iPad, Blackberry 9360, iPod Nano 6th Gen & iPhone 2G, and all the other devices charges correctly, I'm more into the theory of the faulty battery

Airport Extreme: Internet working when directly from modem to computer, but not when using airport extreme. i have hit the reset pin and now do not know what to do.

Using Airport Extreme:
- Internet working when directly from modem to computer
- Internet NOT working when modem is connected to AE
- Internet NOT working when modem is connected to AE and AE is connected to computer
- I have hit the reset pin

OBIEE - Filter SQL Expression Not Working At All - Shows SQL But Not Result

Im at my wits end for this
I have a report where I am using a filter with a simple SQL expression
cast ( timestampadd(SQL_TSI_YEAR, -1, Cast(Cast(DATE '@{pv_as_of_date}{2013-04-01}' AS CHAR) AS TIMESTAMP) ) as DATE)So an end user may input a date and this is passed into the filter via a variable
pv_as_of_date
This is defaulted to 2013-04-01
I want to subtract 1 year to make the end result
2012-04-01
When I run the report I am seeing two issues
1) When displaying the filter at the bottom, I see the full SQL code. Shouldnt this show the date returned? In this case shouldnt the filter show 2012-04-01?
2) The filter does not even work which is my bigger problem
I tested the above code in a column and I KNOW that the date is being returned as expected
But when I use the same SQL code in the filter then it doesnt work
Am I missing some special button some where to enable SQL expressions?

So I was able to find an option "Protect Filter" that seemed to make a bit of difference and I got the date part working after using the above corrected code (thanks)
But now I want to add in the rest of my filter conditions and it does not seem to be liking it

Embedded youtube videos load on all other browsers but not Firefox

I have embedded youtube videos into a website...
They work on ALL OTHER BROWSERS but not on Mozilla Firefox.
I have tried:
1. Clearing cache & cookies and using Safe Mode.
2. 18 different computers running Windows 7, Windows 8, Mac OSX, Linux Ubuntu 12.10 and Fedora 16.
3. Using old embed code instead of iframe.
4. Loading HTML5 works but Firefox cannot fullscreen (still under youtube development)
5. Redoing site from scratch.

1) When I go to the apple.com website my computer will either be really slow or freeze my whole system down to where I have to reboot my computer again. This does not happen all the time but when it does operate it is molasses slow.

IPod nano works with USB 1.1 but not USB 2.0

Anyone using an iPod nano that works with USB 1.1 but not with USB 2.0? I am using Windows XP and when installing the iPod software from CD it recognizes the iPod and am able to transfer songs using iTunes but when installing SP1 or SP2 to enable USB 2.0 transfers, Windows XP only recognizes the iPod nano as a USB Mass Storage Device. This is the same with iPod Updater.

I have a similar problem with the following configuration:
- Dell Dimension 4100 Desktop with 2 integrated USB 1.1 ports, Windows 2000 SP 4
- PCI 6-Ports USB 2.0 Card ("Mentor" resp. www.bona.com.tw), Model USB20-PCI/6P
What works well?
- All my USB add-ons (1.1 and 2.0) on the internal 1.1 ports as well as on the USB2.0 PCI card
- iPod Nano 4GB on internal 1.1 ports (external drive in windows 2000 as well as iPod in iTunes)
- iPod Nano works as well as on the USB 2.0 card ONLY WHEN my old 4-port USB1.1 hub is connected between Nano and USB card
What doesn't works?
My iPod Nano directly connected to the USB 2.0 card. Symptoms when connecting:
- Windows is very slow, process "scvhost.exe" or "system.exe" using 99% of CPU for some minutes
- iPod is recognised as external drive, but when I click on it, it is empty and copying files to it results in "I/O error"
- iTunes doesn't recognise the iPod (of course, if even windows itself cannot read from it...)
I removed all USB drivers, reinstalled iTunes, iPod (by the way, I still don't understand what "iPod update" is good for, except for updating the iPod's firmware), deactivate the internal USB1.1 ports, no result.

My network, based on modem, wifi router (Airport Extreme),Time Capsule and Airport Express simply disconnects with all the lights green on the modem and Extreme, but the other components offline, 5 or so times per day. I suspect the Extreme.

I have a Cisco System3 modem, feeding an Airport Extreme, which connects wirelessly a Timecapsules and an Airport Express both of which extend the network, ie send out more WiFi signal. The system worked well for a long time, say a year and a half and then it started dropping out. All the lights on the modem and airport Extreme stay green, but the other two components are blinking yellow. I've tried limiting the channels, but there are few sources in my neighborhood. I have tried resetting the Extreme which worked for a week and now it's back to its random disconnect behavior. I have read some of these blogs and no one seems to know what to do, especially not Apple. Do I just get another router or what? What do I lose if I use a non Apple router and what would you suggest?

I don't have a setup like yours, but might be able to offer some assistance.
Basically I have two jacks, a TC and an AE and I'd like to create a roaming network. Both of them are set to bridge mode with the same SSID, WPA2 security, same password, etc.
This would be the normal way to set up a roaming network, but the wild card here is that we don't know anything about how the main router that supplies the ethernet connections (valid IP addresses) to the condos might be configured.
For example, most apartments, hotels, etc that provide ethernet jacks usually limit the number of devices that can connect to each jack. Hotels tend to limit this to one or two devices. I counted six devices that you say will work properly plus a few more. Since you have two separate ethernet jacks, you may be looking at a situation where each jack is allocated a total of 4 devices, or valid IP addresses.
The bottom line here is that we won't be able to make much progress until we know more how the main router there has been configured. Is it possible for you to ask the complex manager (who will probably need to ask the IT guy) how many devices are allowed to connect per ethernet jack? Another way to ask the same question is how may valid IP addresses will each ethernet jack allow?
If you can, could I ask you to perform an experiment? Rather than have both the AirPort Extreme and Time Capsule each connect to a separate ethernet jack, can you temporarily move one device near the other and connect them together using an ethernet cable? (Or, use a long ethernet cable if you don't want to move either device) LAN <-> port on one to LAN <-> port on the other. In other words, you'll only be using one of the ethernet ports in the condo for this experiment.
Any difference in performance or number of devices allowed to connect?

To anyone who has viewed this post and is having similar difficulties, the answer came on a different forum: I dragged & dropped the files from Mail to iCloud Drive. Opened them on my MB Air, they were saved in Templates and are now accessible across all my devices.

Do you have an example? I develop Google maps for Web pages and haven't had problem with Safari and its extensions, only FF which I took out all the addons and plug-ins, but it wouldn't surprise if the Google map code doesn't display the map or information for the map or doesn't work with newer versions of Safari.
