Buffer cache vs data blocks that can be cache

Hi Guys,
Do it means that if we have 2 GB of buffer cache allocated to Oracle, we can only store up to 2GB of data in memory?
thanks

  • Hyp 9.3 FR CellText - Suppress data blocks that don't contain Cell text

I'm creating a Financial Report that focuses on Data Blocks that contain Cell Text. The following function works when retreiving at a level one or higher Member for retrieving data.
    *<<CellText("Grid1", cur, A, 1)>>*
The results of the function return the following:
    0093 663020 Jan 1,000 This is a Test Too.
0093 663020 Jun 15,000 This is a Test for Brenda
0093 663030 Feb 2,000 Try this one on for size.
    0093 663030 May 20,000
Note the last line does not contain a Cell Text. This is due to the test group of data blocks has four populated data blocks and only three of the data blocks have cell text attached.
I would like to be able to filter the last data block that does not contain the cell text in order to increase the member levels in the various dimensions+
    Any Suggestions?+

    Try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder. You may have to use your Admin password in order to move it.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
or with Mt. Lion from the User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto/
    Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE 1: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE 2:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

  • Does Apple make a data plate that can be affixed to the back of the MBP?

I recently bought a MBP for my college bound daughter.  I know practically, if not all, college kids have laptops these days, not all have MB's.  For ownership purposes, does anyone know if Apple makes a ownership data plate that can be adhered to the back of the MB without interfering with it?  I would like to get something so my daughter can tell her's from others that may be used near her. I really don't want to keep replacing the MBP, like the pc-laptops that came before it.  Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

    eww,
My daughter spent yesterday moving onto her campus and into her dorm.  I was surprised at the number of MBP's in her dorm, on her floor, in her room.  They seem to out number pc's, but that's just me counting.  At the campus bookstore, MBP's and iPad's seemed to be out selling Windows-based machines 3:1.  Hooray for Apple and the MBP's.
I bought and installed a security cable at her desk, much like other parents were doing.  It is going to take a while for the freshman class to get used to keeping tabs on their stuff in these new surroundings, I'm sure!  Hope the upper classes help them with their new away from home-life,mom & dad, and their siblings.
Thanks for the idea of distinctive stickers, she's an Art Major, so your idea is taking hold and she's already designing a few!

  • Max data segment that can be allocated per process

What is the maximum data segment that can be allocated per process on solaris?
(The equivalent of "maxdsiz" on hp-ux).
    Thank you,
    J

its configurable. Look at the rlimit max for the process. There should also be defined a maximum value you can set the rlimit to somewhere in the sys/* headers. (sorry can't track it down, my dev machine is kaput).

  • Updatable View as data block source - can't get to work

I have created a simple form with one data block based on an updatable view, but it doesn't work properly after the form executes a query.
I can use DML on this view using SQL*Plus and it works as it should.
DML works in the form too, but only until I execute a query, after that I get the "FRM-40602: cannot insert into or update a view" error each time I try an insert, update, or delete.
This is repeated for each runtime of the form. I have set the "query only" property to yes for the non-DMLable item from the view so that isn't part of the problem. This is an example out of "Developer Advance Forms and Reports (page 112) - Oracle Press" so it should work. There is nothing else (code, triggers, etc...) in this module besides the one data block.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.
    Thanks. Bill Brosnan.

I have had the same issue and had to go through Oracle Support to get it working.
First of all make sure that you have a recent patch installed (patch 9 as being the latest one available).
Second, set in the data block the property key mode to updatable and the property primary key to yes for one item of the data block. (this is bug 1561423)
Make sure that you only modify those columns that are updateable.
Quite a large number of bugs have been reported on the concept of updatable views and the installation of a recent patch will most definitely get you working again.
    This functionality does work !
    Goodluck,

  • Oracle 11g unreasonable large data file that can't be shrunk

I got this Oracle 11g installed on my win7 just for running my local application. In the Enterprise Manager the "USERS" tablespaces shows over 12g for allocated size, about 1g for Space Used(also see the table snippet below), only about 8% of space is used. However, when I tried to shrink the data file/space even to half of its current size, both from command line(resize) and Enterprise Manager, i got the error that says "Failed to commit: ORA-03297: file contains used data beyond requested RESIZE value ". I was able to resize my TEMP tablespace successfully with the same command.
Any insight on this? thanks a lot. I'm about to run out my hard drive space.

You have an object stored at the end of the datafile, you will need to move it down the file (or to another tablespace) before you can shrink the file. I though OEM had a "tablespace map" feature to help you see what objects were located where but if not, see:In EM (or 10g dbconsole, at any rate), you select a tablespace, drop down menu Show Tablespace Contents, then there is a tablespace map icon to expand the map. It can be slow. Then you can scroll down to the bottom, scroll up and look for where the last non-green extents are. Also, you can find the beginning of datafiles (if you have multiple data files in the tablespace) by watching for purple header blocks. Hovering over the segments gives information, and clicking on them (or selecting segments in the contents list up above) shows where all the extents are in yellow. I haven't tried the reorganize link...

  • What is the longest data type that can hold alphanumeric characters?

string can't... what else can hold?

im doing an out.print. which is being called by a
function continuously until it reaches a certain
    condition it would stop.
but now my problem is ... it would stop displaying
until certain limit but once i refresh the page, old
stuffs disappeared, i think they got flushed out...
    then new stuff appear. ...
is such behaviour a possibility of the buffer problem
for out.print if it is being exceeded?Sorry. I'm not a mind reader. A page? Do you mean that you are sending data from a jsp/servlet to a browser? Why are you talking about refresh? Describe exactly what you do, and why you want to do it.

  • Maximum data volume that can flow through PI 7.1

    Hi All,
I have a requirement to push around 10 -12 crores of records from MS Sql server to SAP ISU using PI 7.1in  8 days !!!!!!!!!!!!!I have been told that the hardware sizing done by the BASIS team is the best that Pi 7.1 supports
Please advice me on the following options:
    1) Will PI 7.1 be able to handle this?
    2) How much hours of scheduling would be required to push to data from SQL - Proxy
    3) Any other suggestions???
    regards,

    Hi
I will be certainly happy to help you but....the Volume Processing is purely depend on few aspects of PI 7.1
    - Scenarios Configured to use high Volume Processing features of PI 7.1 like
      a. Message Packaging,
      b. Queue Prioritization
      c. AAE enabled
      d. Are there any BPE Configured
    - How about sizing of your PI environment?
      a. No CPUs, b. Memory, c. No of Java Server nodes, d. No of Application Servers (aka Dialog Instances)
so like wise there many factors to cosider to conclude on your environment capacity in terms of no of messages processed perhour/day etc.
We have capacity to process 1.5 billion messages per hour But we concluded this fighure based on our load and system processing speed.
So I suggest you to go thorugh the below link to understand the realtime user cases scenarios and asses your system capacity
Becuase NO body can assess better than you about your system.

    Hi,
Create your Screen field of type DM07M-JVCRP
Go to Screen painter and change the Screen field type to DM07M-JVCRP
Since this Accepts Negative values you wont get run time Errors
Check the below data elements or use Domain CURRV13 " you can find in where used list for more

  • Useless call blocking that can't block blocked number

I have had enough can anyone tell these clowns at apple I want to be able to to block
People who withhold their call I.d
    Not just my friends
Seriously android perfected this option years ago.

The original question raised in this thread is perfectly correct - why cant you simply block a caller who withholds their ID - Android can do this with ease!
chai2030 response does not understand the question, yes with IOS7 you can block callers who leave a number but you CANNOT block someone who leaves no caller ID - WHY NOT!!!!!!!!  Andriod users can easily do this!!!
I get loads of annoying sales calls who withhold ID - so so annoying
Just got my Iphone 5S as a present, but the lack of this feature means I will go back to Android asap.

  • What is the max Data size that can be converted to PDF using CR 2008 SP5

    Hi All,
When I supply more data to convert to PDF using XML data source I get exception on converting the stream
    Exception :
Error generating PDF. Exception:Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
       at CrystalDecisions.ReportSource.EromReportSourceBase.ExportToStream(ExportRequestContext reqContext)
       at CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.FormatEngine.ExportToStream(ExportRequestContext reqContext)
       at CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument.ExportToStream(ExportOptions options)
       at CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument.ExportToStream(ExportFormatType formatType)
But it works with smaller size like 50-60K of data.
I searched about the exception and the results were mentioning about wrong placement of runtimes.
But my doubt is if the problem is with runtimes then why it works with less data?
    Thanks.

    Version of CR (be precise...)?
    Version of .NET?
    OS?
Is this on your dev computer or after you deploy the app?
Add code used in the app please.

  • DB buffer cache vs. SQL query & PL/SQL function result cache

    Hi all,
Started preparing for OCA cert. just myself using McGraw Hill's exam guide. Have a question about memory structures.
Actually, DB buffer cache is used to copy e.g. SELECT queries result data blocks, that can be reused by another session (server process).
There is also additional otion - SQL query & PL/SQL function result cache (from 11g), where also stored the results of such queries.
Do they do the same thing or nevertheless there is some difference, different purpose?
    thanks in advance...

There is also additional otion - SQL query & PL/SQL function result cache (from 11g), where also stored the results of such queries.Result cache located in shared pool.So it is one component of shared pool. When server process execute query(and if you configured result cache) then result will store in shared pool. Then next execution time run time mechanism will detect and consider using result cache without executing this query(if data was not changed this is happen detection time)
Do they do the same thing or nevertheless there is some difference, different purpose?.Buffer cache and result cache are different things and purpose also, but result cache introduced to improve response time of query in 11g(but such mechanism also implemented in 10g subquery execution,in complex query). In buffer cache holds data blocks but not such results.
