Buffering icon appears when including a video demo in a project published as mp4.

I have a project containing slides and video demos. I inserted the videos as CPVC slides into the project. When I play the project in Captivate, all works fine. When I publish to video (mp4) and play, before each video starts, I get the buffering icon. This really disrupts the flow. Is there any way to hide or get rid of the icon?

I ran into this problem myself and fortunately a fine Adobe engineer (Tata M.A.S.B. Sankaram) was kind enough to point out a workaround. I don't think this is official, so be careful in using it.
Basically the buffering icon is the animation that is shown while loading the video. This would normally be helpful to explain while the video is loading, but in a final publish to MP4, it is distracting. Here's the workaround:
Go to <Captivate install location>\Gallery\SWF Animation\
Re-name “VideoLoadingAnimation.swf” to “Old_VideoLoadingAnimation.swf”
Publish
I no longer see the Loading animation!
Best practice would be to go back and rename the swf to the original name after publishing the output for distribution.

Yes and no. The CPTX file is on my PC. Our software that I'm making the demo of is on the network. but I'm not the "IT Guy" so I can't provide specifics; however, I work at a computer software company and we probably have more servers than employees. The network hardware is kept current. I've been making similar tutorials for 10 years and haven't run into this issue until switching to the subscription Captivate.

My version of Publisher is 2010 and my OS is Windows 8.1.
64-bit OS x64 based processor.
I'm not too sure if this issue has arrisen when I upraded to Windows 8.1.
My Dell printer(Dell all in one) has also stopped working due to a driver issue now not being supported.

No icons appear when opening Desktop Manager

When I open Desktop Manager 5.0, no icons appear. This happened right after downloading the "update".
I have tried doing a clean uninstall (per instructions on the Blackberry website) and reinstall 5 times and it keeps doing the same thing. I have tried reinstalling via web and CD.
Any ideas??? I'm really frustrated...

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Since you were not explicit with the exact steps you took, I must suggest what may be redundant.
I suggest the following steps (insert plenty of reboots of your PC...not just restarts, but full power down reboots). Also, it is advised that you be logged into the PC on an account with full admin rights. Further, under Vista/Win7, use the "Run As Administrator" option for everything.
1) Remove your device OS update package from your PC (add/remove programs)
2) Cleanly uninstall the RIM DTM software:
KB02206 How to perform a clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software
Some have reported that there are more registry keys to remove than are discussed in that KB
Others have reported the use of a registry cleansing tool to also be helpful
3) Get a fresh download of the RIM DTM software:

Choose the version that is newest and (if applicable) compatible with your PIM (if you are synchronizing via USB):

5) Install DTM to your PC

Hopefully that will get things going again. If not, then there may be something about your PC that is blocking DTM from functioning. Is it a corporate PC? And, if so, do they enforce any restrictions on the PC? That could block it from working.

Weird icons appear when Opening Documents in Document Library

Experiencing intermittent issue when opening a document in a certain document library.
These weird icons appear.
Artificial intelligence can never beat natural stupidity.

That's a sprite file. It's downloaded once for a page and then CSS is used to pick a part of that image. The full display of that image is usually caused by a timeout when downloading the CSS file. If you refresh the page, does it display correctly?
Does the page have any custom JavaScript or custom CSS?

"Broken chain link" icon appears when trying iTunes store

It's really slow going trying to reach the store right now. When I do, I get all these broken chain link icons in place of pictures. Also, my podcasts are loading in a lightning-fast 45 minutes each. This is a fairly new developement, it's been about a week now. I can't find much helpful info around the forums so far. Anyone?

I have a few questions since most likely we will have to figure this out on our own. I have this problem occur a few times in a day however it is random.

Vista Ultimate 32bit
Antivirus: Kaspersky Internet Security 8.0
Web browswer: Exporer 8.0.6
Video Card: Nvidia GeForce 9600GT
Ram: 4GB
Genius Settings: off
Itunes View: Cover Flow
Keyboard / Mouse: Logitech bluetooth MX5500
I have also experienced very sluggish performance with itunes store browsing/serach and have yet to figure that out. It started with Itunes 7

Button problems when including a video. (interactive PDF)

I am having issues when exporting my interactive PDF from In-design. On a specific page with a video included, the buttons with actions to next and previous page do not seem transition to the next page like they do throughout the rest of the PDF. It barely responds at all, if I click it over and over it sometimes goes to the next page but its not a smooth transition. I am using the latest adobe acrobat pro to view the PDF. If anyone has an answer to this problem it was be a massive help.

There´s something you can do, but you will need Acrobat for that.
That dotted line is a preference element called Focus Rectangle, you can hide it manually in Preferences > Forms > Show Focus Rectangle (Uncheck) or you can add one line of javascript to document level or for instance page 1 (if you change it in your preferences, only you will see the effect naturally), so javascript method is probably better in your case.
If you want to add that javasctript to page 1, simply open thumbnails panel, select page 1 thumb and choose Page Properties from panel menu. Go to Actions tab and choose Run Javascript and click Add. Then paste....
app.focusRect = false;
....to Javascript editor and click OK (few times, until you are back in page view). No your user will run that javascript command everytime he/she opens the page 1 and hides that dotted Focus Rectangle....

Problem "DRM busy" when including a video file (.ts)

I owned the Premier Elements 12 and all simple cut and burn procedures worked well.
I use it mainly for burning DVDs using recordings from TV with file format .mpg or .ts.
But one single .ts file could not be loaded into the workplace, posting the (german) error message "Diese Datei kann nicht geöffnet werden, da die Berechtigungverwaltung gerade bearbeitet wird" means as I guess:
"File can not be opened because DRM is busy".
I would understand if the source was a copy right DVD or similar, but this file is one of many out of a doku sequence from the same TV station which all be could be cut and burned without troubles except this one single file!
(The size of the mentioned video is 5GB but even larger files could be opened correctly)
Remark: Instead of this it is allready possible to copy this file anywhere and to play it at the PC by an viewer!
The questiones are:
1. Why is DRM "busy", waiting for which event?
2. How can I check if this is a feature caused by an attribute of the recorded file or if is a bug of the program PE12?
3. How can I workaround?

I found out some new information about the DRM problem which shifted the point of view but didnt solve the problem itself (file couldnt be opened):
When I tried to see the attributes of the mentioned file by using the PE12 menu, the following error msg appeared:
"Eigenschaften dieser Datei konnten nicht abgerufen werden"
~ "Attributes of this file could not be read".
EVEN all the attributes of this video file can be read by the MS-file-attributes command correctly as for each other video file (size, length, rate etc)!
The question now is why is PE12 not able to read and show the file attributes as MS does?
Can anybody analyze this file (5GB!) or how can I do it myself?
Is there a header which could be separated for analyzing?

No task bar/menu bar or icons appear when I login into my main account, however this is not a problem with my guest accout

So was trying to use install disk ! to solve the problem but did not want to reinstall the system because I have not backed up many of my photographs. Then the disk got stuck and would not come out so when I shut down and restarted I could not get past the gray screen. Well I was able to solve the problem and remove the disk, and finally it would load to the login screen, although it took some time to get there. Then when I log in to my main account the desktop will load but the task bar and icons will not its completely blank except for the wall paper. When I login into my guest account there is not a problem everything is there and functional. I've been researching but have had no luck on a solution. Thank you for your help.

Could be many things, we should start with this...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive & clear caches.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.

Error message appears when downloading bought videos.

There is an error message that appears right when i click to download the movie. It says There is a problem downloading "movie". The disk your attempting to use is full. Please delete some files or empty recycle bin. I emptied recycle bin and is still not letting me download it. Please help.

Why does the genius icon appear when listening to ITuneU Lectures?

I listen to a lot of podcasts and find the "back 30 seconds" button very handy. When listening to lectures in iTunesU however, that button is replaced with the genius icon. Why? Bueller, Bueller...

If you notice closely, the location arrow points up on an angle. The iPod activity arrow points directly to the right. If you turn off the iPod App, the arrow goes away.
BTW .... Tarentum, PA by chance?

My HD contains 2 partitions. I also have an external HD divided into two partitions. All partition contain a system (10.4.11 or 10.5.4). While attempting to install OS10.5.4 on a partition on my external HD, something went wrong, and all existing file in that partition became invisible.
Since I am able to perform diagnostics on the partition from Disk Utility and from Disk Warrior, and that a Get Info command shows almost 10gb of folders/file on that partition, I assume that the information that was previously on that partition still exists there. I further assme (with less certainity) that the Directory has become corrupted.
I spent an hour on the phone with an Apple tech, and he was unable to bring the icons back to the desktop of the faulty partition. Everything is working just fine - only this one partition will not function.
Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated...

My guess is that the catalog has been corrupted. When that happens, all the folders & files become invisible.
Download a copy of Data Rescue II from Prosoft Engineering. You can run the free download and it will tell you what's actually on your disk that can be recovered. You will have to purchase Data Rescue in order to recover the folders & files, but the free download can at least tell you what can be recovered.
By the way, exactly what icons are you talking about?
And, actually, if the catalog or partition was corrupted during your OS update, you probably ought to recover what you need ... and then reformat the partition & do a clean OS install on it.

Images don't appear when moving an album into a new project

I've been scanning negatives into Aperture using a project (Scans) as a "holding" point until I determine which actual project to move the images to. I put these scanned images into various albums within Scans. When I've decided what actual project to move them to, I drag the album to that project, then drag the images themselves (or vice versa). A lot of times, the images will move to that project but won't show up in the album I just dragged unless I quit and restart Aperture. I never had this problem before upgrading to v.3.
I've also had a flicker problem when comparing a version to its master (posted elsewhere in the forum).

Well not really, Aperture holds all your image files in Projects. If you can think of a project as a box of negatives it will help you. Then put your prints in Albums, so to speak. You can put the Albums any place you wish, but the negatives stay in the project box. Allan.

I made a Webcenter Application with 2 View Controller Projects, one to publish a ADF Library, and another to make a webpage to consume the library.
The library is a bounded taskflow (with fragment) that shows a simple page.
The web project is a simple jspx that have a region with the taskflow, the project has the ADF Library jar as a library in the project
The Application is deployed as a EAR.
- test 1: simple jspx page with a region : Works OK
Results: Works OK
- test 2: jspx with oracle composer tags: Page customizable -> panel customizable ->ShowDetail Frame -> TaskFlow Region
Results: It works ok the first deploy, it fails with the error above after the second deploy (no need to move or change anything)
Has anyone seen something similar?

Yes, but here its creating a separate database connection.... ? I figrued out this by creating a vo which gives me a db session id,
I created a reusasble pf and VO as separate lib, now i used both of them in my consumer app, i dragged the same VO (from reusable lib) to my page, and in same page i used the reusable pf, both gives me different db session id ...... ? really confused ...... is this how it works ... ? is it normal ? or some additional configuration needed .?
