Bug: 1.5.1 database copy dies silently

When using the tool 'Database copy' with a source schema with a lot of data, the tool dies silently with the following error :
Exception in thread "RunnerThread" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space
The same exception also happens when using the tool 'Database Export', even during dumping the data, it dies with the same error.
Could this be fixed? that way sqldeveloper can be used to put data from one database to another database.
Thanks,
Jan

SQL Developer gives the error in the console when it is started in debug mode, the ide itself doesn't give any notion.
Giving SQL Developer JVM more memory is indeed a workaround but with the amount of data I try to unload or copy, SQL Developer will fail before the end I fear.
It would be nice if this behavior is recognized as a bug and will be fixed in a future release.
Thanks,
Jan

    I completely reinstall JDev and set it to use subversion ... that resolve the problem and i'm no more in a position to reproduce it.

  • SQL Developer database copy corrupts wrapped PL/SQL

    SQL Developer 3.0.04.34, database 11.2.0.2.2
    Database copy brings over the wrapped pl/sql DDL, but somehow corrupts the code and will not compile.
    It must be recreated from source plb file.
    expdp / impdp does not have this problem.
    This would appear to be a bug.

    Any idea how to over come that...Don't use it, use the database's IMPDP/EXPDP tools for copying large quantities of data or whole schemas or databases.
    Also adding the Filter or selection like the Database Export functionality in Database Copy will really be helpful in this kind of situation. The Developer team has any plans?Probably not right now, but you can request this at the SQL Developer Exchange though, so other users can vote and add weight for possible future implementation.

  • BPEL-Instanz dies silent if switch case is true boolean

    Hello,
    it is very curios. I have the following switch case:
    xp20:compare('string1', 'string2') = 0
    or
    string(xp20:compare('string1', 'string2')) = '0'
    The validation is ok, and the compiler compiles with 0 errors / 0 warnings.
    If I try to invoke the process, the instance dies silent.
    If i write 'string1' = 'string' the behavior is as expected and the instance is running.
    What's the reason
    I am using the last stable release version.
    Best regards

    i just tested your case in 10.1.3.x, it works fine for me. i can see "'two strings do not match" in output variable as expected. can you please copy and past your entire switch block.
    here is my test case ( i took the Switch.bpel sample under references directory):
    <switch>
    <case condition="xp20:compare('string1', 'string2') = 0">
    <assign>
    <copy>
    <from expression="'Value is greater than zero'"/>
    <to variable="output" part="payload" query="/tns:resultMsg/tns:valueResult"/>
    </copy>
    </assign>
    </case>
    <otherwise>
    <assign>
    <copy>
    <from expression="'two strings do not match'"/>
    <to variable="output" part="payload" query="/tns:resultMsg/tns:valueResult"/>
    </copy>
    </assign>
    </otherwise>

  • Javascript error in BEx after system database copy

    Hello,
    we made a database copy of our BW 3.1 system on another hardware. After having done everything described in the How-To-Guide "Enable SAP BW Web functionality", we called the BEx via URL. The login screen displays and also the Report menu, but there occur JavaScript errors on the page, that didn't occur in the copy master. E.g.
    "SAPBWSSgdo is null or not an object" or
    "SAPBWItemCatalog undefined".
    These errors prevent the choice menu for BW report value options to be displayed, which is quite annoying. Does anybody know where the error might come from? Are there any components required by BEx which weren't copied with the database copy?
    Thanks for your help in advance,
    Volker Hofmann

    Hi Beat,
    thanks you're helping me! The MIME-Repository objects like JS-Files, stylesheets and images can be read. The strange thing is:
    The J2EE engine is hosted by a provider. When they're calling the BEx web reports, they're displayed correctly. But when we call them (via proxy!), the error occurs. Even the application management doesn't know where the error comes from, after having checked if the proxy caches old data. The error is still not resolved...
    Do you have another idea?
    Regards,
    Volker

  • Two bug fixes for DeferredWrite databases

    Hi all,
    If you are using DatabaseConfig.setDeferredWrite(true) to configured a deferred write database, you will be interested in two recent bug fixes. These fixes will be in the next patch release (JE 3.2.69 and later), but we haven't decided when that release will be made. In the mean time, please email me (mark.hayes at the obvious .com) and I'll make these fixes available to you.
    The change log entries for the two bugs are below. Note that first bug can cause data loss, since a log file is incorrectly deleted by the log cleaner.
    # Fix a bug that could cause LogFileNotFoundException when using a Deferred Write database (DatabaseConfig.setDeferrredWrite(true)). The bug could occur when a Deferred Write database was opened sometime after opening the Environment. The bug was very unlikely to occur if all Deferred Write databases were opened immediately after opening the Environment. [#15913]
    # Fix a bug that could cause Database.sync to hang. This bug was introduced in JE 3.2.68. [#15920]
    Thanks to Tyler (user611159) for working with us to diagnose these bugs and verify the fixes. He did many test runs over many days and supplied the log files we used to discover the bugs.

    2. Logic 7.1.1 had an annoying bug in the event list
    where if you selected, for example, four notes in the
    matrix editor, only three would be highlighted in the
    event list until you change their values. This seems
    fixed, too.
    Thanks for mentioning this.
    Would you mind checking something else out? In the attached pic (from 7.1.1) I have 4 notes highlighted in the matrix editor but only 2 are highlighted in the event editor. This correlates more or less with the behavior you reported (3 notes highlighted) and which you say is fixed (and is great news!).
    But notice where the SPL is positioned -- bar 1, beat 1. Yet in the event editor the pointer is aligned with "---Start of List---". In fact, when the sequence is played, the pointer is always aligned one event behind the currently playing event. This behavior has been a real problem.
    So I'm wondering if that specific behavior is fixed in 7.2. Would you mind checking and letting me know if this has been fixed?
    Thanks!

    directly below, and what it is
    pointing to at bar 1, beat 1]

  • Mailbox Database Copy Status Failed

    We have 2 Exchange 2010 servers.  We run a DAG.  Recently I have noticed that database copy DB2 which is located on Exch-1 is showing "Failed".  Database copy DB1 which is located on Exch-2 is showing Healthy.  I searched online
    for information regarding the issue with the failed database copy.  I found information that led me to run these commands.
    Suspend-MailboxDatabaseCopy -Identity “Mailbox Database XXXXX\Server Name”
    Update-MailboxDatabaseCopy -Identity “Mailbox Database XXXXX\Server Name” -DeleteExistingFiles
    It went thru the seeding process and completed but the database copy still shows "Failed".  Copy Q Length is 19.  I have refreshed the console.  What else do I need to do to correct this?  I did recently shut down Exch-2 server
    for maintenance.  thanks

  • SQL Developer Database Copy truncates DATE columns

    Hope someone can help me. I want to copy all object from one schema to another schema in my Database. I have used the "tools - Database Copy" utility and it copies all of the objects and data however when I query the DATE columns in the destination schema the time element has been truncated? Why has this happened?
    tab_h contains a column h_date of type DATE
    Query
    SELECT TO_CHAR(H_DATE, 'MM-DD-YYYY HH24:MI:SS') from tab_h;
    returns
    02-07-2012 09:54:14
    from the source table
    yet returns
    02-07-2012 00:00:00
    from destination schema? This is the case for all DATE columns in the tables.
    I noticed this was happening in 3.0.04.34 and I upgraded to 3.1.07.42 and it still happens.
    Thank you

    Maybe there's a problem getting the OS settings right; try to add this to \sqldeveloper\bin\sqldeveloper.conf:
    AddVMOption -Duser.region=USIf that works, you can try others closer to you.
    Hope that helps,

  • How to Create a database copy and specify the source database.

    Hello,
    In my dag environment I would like to create a new database copy and specify the source. My company has database copies in 2 locations. Instead of transferring the data from one location to the other, I would like to specify the source be the copy that is
    in the same location.

    Hi,
    We can create a mailbox database, then run EMC and EMS to create a database copy.
    More details about Add a Mailbox Database Copy, for your reference:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd298080(v=exchg.141).aspx
    Note: please pay attention to Prerequisites section, for example:
    1. The specified Mailbox server must not already host a copy of the specified mailbox database.
    2. The server hosting the specified database and the server that will host the database copy must both be in the same database availability group (DAG). The DAG must also have quorum and be healthy.

  • Database limit warning when creating database copy

    Exchange 2010 Standard SP3 RU3.
    2 Server mailbox DAG.
    I have 5 mailbox databases mounted. I have a copy of each database. WHen I try to create a copy for the 5th mailbox database I get the following warning "Server has reached the maximum database limit of 5.
    Looking at my server, There was an old database that was never used in the exchange directory but its not listed in the EMC.
    Is it possible that information about an old database still exists in AD? Where can I verify in Adsiedit what exchange databases it sees?

    Hi,
    One server limited to 5 databases in Exchange 2010 Standard edition.
    So, from the description of your screenshot I summary the following information:
    The following databases stayed on NASD-MBX1:
    Mailbox Database Admin
    Mailbox Database Faculty
    Mailbox Database Faculty Large
    Mailbox Database Faculty Medium
    Mailbox Database Faculty Small (Mounted)
    The following databases stayed on NASD-MBX2:
    Mailbox Database Admin (Mounted)
    Mailbox Database Faculty (Mounted)
    Mailbox Database Faculty Large (Mounted)
    Mailbox Database Faculty Medium (Mounted)
    Public Folder Database (It should be here, right?) (Mounted)
    Now, if we try to make a copy of “Mailbox Database Faculty Small”,
    it will be available as a passive database copy on NASD-MBX2. However, there are five Database mounted on NASD-MBX2 including the Public Folder Database. So it will
    get the error “Server has reached the maximum database limit of 5”. We can delete the Public Folder Database to test it.
    In ADSIEdit, please refer the following image to find these databases.
    Best Regards.

  • Cannot add mailbox database copy to DR site - .edb file not getting created

    I have a DR site setup that I want copies of 4 of my mailbox databases.  3 of the mailbox databases copied over successfully but the last and largest one which is really not that large 69Gbs keeps failing when i Update the database copy.  Seems
    to not be creating the .edb file.  Is there another way to get the .edb file over to the server, possibly manually copying it then doing and update database copy?  I have my backups turned off on all the servers that have the mailbox role on it now
    thinking that was causing some issues with the database copy?  Any suggestions is appreciated, thanks.

    Yes manually copy the edb file and paste them in the DR server . Then try to update with for the incremental of database copy. Verify the database is clean shutdown that you are moving to the DR site.

    Update-MailboxDatabaseCopy -Identity "Binew\EX02" -DeleteExistingFiles
    Is this the reason for the replication getting failed.I have never deleted any log file from server1.
    Please help!

    Hello,
    You may run the following cmdlets one by one:
    Suspend-MailboxDatabaseCopy <databaseName>\<ReplicaServerName>
    Update-MailboxDatabaseCopy <databaseName>\<ReplicaServerName> -SourceServer <ActiveServerName> -DeleteExistingFiles:$True
    Resume-MailboxDatabaseCopy <databaseName\<ReplicaServerName>

  • Database copy dropped objects in source schema

    I was seeking out a quick way to copy an entire schema from one db to another and I was happy when I found the "database copy" feature. I checked the documentation and found that all I needed to do was select the source connection, the target connection, and choose either create, truncate, or drop objects. Well I had some objects in the source db from a previous failed attempt at copying all the objects via script. To remedy that the drop objects option, according to the documentation " Drops any existing table with the same name, and then creates and loads it from the source." Ok, great. The summary shows up with a bunch of entries which I didn't pay too much attention too. Fine, continue...running....progress...so far so good..and the log shows up. I see drops, I see moving data, and I see a whole bunch of errors with no useful information with them. Check the target schema...nothings there, all objects are dropped. Ok, lets have a look at the source and see whats going on. Refresh tables...nothing...refresh...refresh...nothing. The source schema has all its objects GONE too! One lonely type is saved in the source schema, that's it. Am I a total moron and misinterpreting how database copy works? Can anyone shed some light on this? Anyway to recover my source objects? As the source db is not production I am out of luck as there is no recent backup.
    Source: 9i
    Target: 11g

    OK the problem was that my target connection was inadvertently pointing to the source. It was set properly before but stuff went bad and i switched the connection from TNS to basic, then back to TNS. Apparently when switching back to TNS the wrong entry was selected. Not sure if I chose it or it was selected from a different connection. In any case, very stupid of me.
    thanks K.
