BUG 8900 Device Software 5

With the last versione of the official device software, in my case 8900M_PBr5.0.0_rel760_PL5.2.0.42_A5.0.0.461_TIM_Italy.exe the button key lock doesn't work. This a a device software bug because in other version the button function is OK.
I tried also an other device but with the same device software I advice the same problem.
How can I resolve?
Thanks

yes you just need to contact your carrier and tell them about that issue. They will contact RIM about it.

  • Reloading Curve 8900 device software

Hi I am having trouble with my Blackberry device software, how do I delete and re intsal the software on my Curve 8900?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Manual device OS upgrade instructions:
    1. First locate your carrier and the OS file you wish to use.
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    2. Do a backup of your device first, using Desktop Manager > Backup. Close Desktop Manager upon completion and unplug BlackBerry. Get DM here http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/
    3. Download the OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
    4. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
    5. This step is not needed unless there is an issue on next steps. Use BBSAK from BBSAK.org and wipe the device (after doing a complete backup) then after you get the error 507 (no OS installed) then proceed to step 6
    6. remove internet connection to PC and reboot PC.
    7. Plug in BlackBerry and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file was in.
    8. if you did Step 5, restore from back up. Follow this KB if needed http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB10339
    Enjoy the new OS.

  • Curve 8900 Device Software for Rogers - CORRUPT INSTALL FILE

    Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone else ran into this issue (if there's some Rogers BlackBerry people on this board). I tried downloading and running the device software for Rogers off the BlackBerry site and during the installation, I came across the following error:
"Error 1335. The cabinet file 'Data1.cab' required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. This could indicate a netowkr error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package."
When I try clicking ignore, I get this message:
    "Error 2350. FDI server error"
I wish I was good enough to know what this means, but I'm completely lost here. I've tried installing this on two computers (XP Home SP2) and Vista, both give me the same problem.
I get the feeling there may be an issue with the software on the site. Could anyone else confirm this or have an idea of what to do?
    Thanks

  • Unable to update device software from 4.6 to 5.0 (No updates available) (BB Curve 8900)

    Hello guys.
I've been trying for the past few days to update my BB Curve 8900's Device Software but whenever I click update, it always says "There are no BlackBerry Device Software updates available."
    Please help.
    Thank you!

    Hey TheLittleBee,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
BlackBerry Handheld software availability is determined by your network service provider.  If your network service provider does not have OS 5 availabile then there will be no updates.

  • Error with Loading Device Software on 8700 AT&T phone.

Hi. I would like some help with my 8700 AT&T refurb blackberry phone.  When I tried to download the device software (v4.5) to my already downloaded DTM (v4.6), it gave me an error message I did not know what to do with.
I want to synch my organizer data (calendar, contacts) from older desktop (Outlook 2002) to my new laptop (Outlook 2007, Windows 7).  I am having trouble downloading the supporting device software.  I keep getting an error message that reads "Error with the Application Loader.  Cannot update software using this system as device is currently activated on a blackberry Enterprise Server or professional software.  Contact administrator or check with service provider."  I do not use Enterprise.  I don't have an internet service plan for my phone as I use it only for calendar and contacts.  AT&T gives the software option for AT&T 8700 in English device software as v4.1.0.175 as the only option that is supported by my current platform (2.0.0.90).  Is this right?
All I really want to update my phone with the latest software that supports Outlook 2007 on my new laptop.  What do I need to make that happen?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi there!
Refurbs can be problematic. If a BB was ever activated on BES, then it has an IT Policy. IT Policies are not removed by the standard WIPE actions. Rather, they take additional steps to clean off the Policy.
Just to check, please go to this screen:
Homescreen > Options > Security Options > (Information) or (General Settings) or (something similar)
On that screen will be some selection boxes plus other sections (divided by horizontal lines). If, on that screen, there is any discussion about IT Policy (even if it says "Default"), then you indeed have an IT Policy on your BB. (The screen may also have a section for "Services").
If you don't have an IT Policy, then something else is going on...in which case, stop here and report back exactly what you found on that screen.
If you do have an IT Policy, then, in my view, you have two choices.
    1) Since this refurb was provided to you by ATT, they did not deliver to you a "clean" device. You could take it back to them and have them clean the IT Policy off.
    2) You can remove the Policy yourself. The process is 100% destructive to the data on the BB, so you'll want to be sure you've already taken a good full backup. Then use Method 3 in this KB.
As for what device OS to install, you have more choices than you indicated. See this page:
    https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/browseSoftware.do;jsessionid=0A15EC28AEC181D3F3F9C5235D9F166A.n...
Select, from the drop-down, your model (8700). The resulting screen shows that ATT is currently supporting 4.5.0.182 (MultiLanguage) for your BB model. The MultiLanguage pack will include English, so you don't have to fall all the way back to the English only version. So, you have choices. The best advice is to use the most recent version -- bug fixes, enhancements, and all of that.
What I advise, since you want to use Outlook 2007, is to use that 4.5.0.182 package for your BB and the most recent RIM desktop package (5.0.1.28). That way, you will have full compatibility for what you are looking for.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Unable to upgrade to device software 5.0

i currently have a curve 8900 with O2 in the UK and i have software 4.6. i would like to upgrade to the new software 5.0. can someone please help me as its not letting me upgrade and i do not know why.

I would check your carrier's software site to see if your device can support 5.0.  This KB article should help you find that site.  Then, if you run into issues trying to install or want detailed instructions for installing the new device software please refer to this KB.

  • Trying to update my device software

I'm trying to update my device software.
There is new software that's available for my BB 8900
but my wireless provider has the older version v4.6.1.250
I've tried to download from the BB website but fails to do so.
Has anybody updated their curve 8900????

This is what need to do -
    1. Check the available software is specifically designed for your device or not
    2. If it's for your device, then check is it released for your carrier or not
    3. If it's for your carrier, then download and install in your PC and use Desktop Manager to load the new device OS in your 8900
    4. If it's not released for your carrier, after installation look for vendor.xml file from c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
    5. Connect your device and install the new OS via desktop manager.

  • I need major help with the 5.0 device software!

I recently had to get a refurbished Blackberry Curve 8900 from T-mobile because my phone was no longer charging. The old one had the 5.0 update on it, this one however, does not. I know how to download it and everything, but when I am JUST about to click "finish" a message pops up that says
    "Invalid Configuration
The Blackberry Device Software upgrade new features and significant enhancements to the Blackberry solution and, as such, is only available to users with an active BlackBerry subscription. To learn more about Blackberry service, please visit www.blackberry.com/service."
I don' t know what a BlackBerry subscription is.
I need help getting passed this, so I can continue on with device update.
    Thanks!

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
It is referring to a full BB data plan, the last one in this list:
    http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/What_do_I_need_a_Data_Plan_for%3F
That plan is what enables BIS -- BlackBerry Internet Service -- which enables all of the rich and proprietary features of BBs. If you had those before, then it sounds like your carrier has not completed shifting your prior account from your old BB to the new one (it is controlled by the BB PIN). I suggest you contact them for formal assistance.
    Good luck!

  • Curve 8900 - 'Reload Software 513'

My Son was given a Curve 8900 and has used it for months without any problems.  Yesterday some of his friends messing about tried to access his phone and put in wrong pin number several times.
His phone is now showing a message 'Reload Software 513'
We have never syncrinised this phone with the internet, so not sure how we go about sorting out this problem, so any advise would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

    Hello JaxT,
Perform a hard reset by removing the battery from the BlackBerry smartphone and reinserting it. For more information on this procedure, see KB02141.
If the error message persists, perform a reload or upgrade the BlackBerry Device Software. For more information on this procedure, see KB10144.

  • What is the latest device software?

hi, can you please tell me what is the latest device software official relase for bb 9900 ?

Change logs are the responsibility of the carriers to release, and so many of them just never do so. In general, a later OS level would be "better" than an older one, as it would contain bug fixes and new features/functions that are absent in the older version. But, nothing more exact than that can be provided...it is up to you to choose the OS level you desire to operate on.

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Apple Software Update entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install using an iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) downloaded from the Apple Website:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Does it go through properly this time?
