Bug: Apple TV is Homesharing all iPhoto pictures

Mac OS X 10.8.5
iTunes v11.1
iPhoto '11 (v9.4.3)
Apple TV (Model MD199LL/A) has been updated to v6.0 software
Issue is that with iTunes Homesharing turned on and logged into on my Apple TV all my iPhoto pictures show up in Apple TV's "Computer App" even though in iPhoto I set sharing to only specific folders with the password protect. Is there any way to show only specific iPhoto pictures or folders in Apple TV's "Computer App" instead of all?

I'm not able to repeat that myself, it's working as expected here. If you're sure your home sharing settings are only set to select specific content, then you might try re-applying the settings.

Yes, that's for network backups only.
What can I do to make sure that the backups are OK?
You can tell if the File System (the various directories, catalogs etc.) is ok by repairing your backup drive, per #A5 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting.
You can "spot check" whether the Time Machine "Star Wars" display seems correct.
You can do a full system restore to another disk per #14 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions, then start up from it and see if things are there and seem to work.
You can keep "secondary" backups (always a good idea). See #27 in the FAQ post for some suggestions.

Itunes won't import all iPhoto pictures into iPhone or iPad

Don't know where this belongs so I posted it in the iPhoto group.
I recently updated to Lion (10.7.2). I currently use iPhoto 9.2.1 with itunes 10.5. I sync my my iPhoto pics (all events/albums/faces/etc) to my iPhone 3GS and iPad 2 (both iOS5). I recently imported three events to iPhoto. I have tried to sync my new events to my devices but the photo tally for each event is "0" in itunes. The events do not show on my devices after syncing. However, they still exist in my iPhoto library.
Additionally, when I recently tried to export the three events to a thumb drive, I received a message that the volume for those photos could not be found. I tried Find>Reveal in Finder but both options are greyed out. To remedy this problem I trashed the three events in iPhoto, deleted my iPod cache and reimported the three events. However, this did not fix anything. Essentially my new events are in my iPhoto library but they aren't "on my computer." If anyone can please help I will appreciate it!
PS - This seems to have happened after I updated my devices to iOS5. Would this have anything to do with it?

Hi, good news: it syncs again!
I wasn't sure how to reinstall everything (suggestions from different discussions) so I firstly deleted the "Archive" and all picture folders from iPhone:
Uncheck sync in the iTunes tab "Pictures" and "apply". iTunes asks whether to keep or to delete all previously synchronised pictures: answer "delete". (Or "remove", my iTunes speeks German :-))
Then check the button synchronise again and voila, it works. Magic, is'nt it?

Not all iphoto pictures are available for sync with ipad2

Hallo,
I am a new apple user. Have iTunes latest version on my MacMini. Want to sync all of my photos from iPhoto to my iPad2. Problem: not all Photos are available for sync.
Why doesn´t iTunes see all of my Photos?

It is not a problem of iPad2 because I have the same problem with my iPhone.
e.g.: I can see the event in iTunes but with 0 photos. So iTunes find the events but not the content???

Export all iPhoto pictures but maintain directory structure?

I'm selling my MacBook Air and am going to a iPad2 as my only portable machine. The only desktop I have is a PC. I need to figure out a way to export my entire iPhoto library to an external drive so I can store it on my PC. I know where iPhoto stores the pictures, but I need them exported in a way that each event will be in its own folder. Is this possible? I have hundreds of events so doing it one at a time isn't really feasible.

Apps like iPhoto2Disk or PhotoShare will help you export to a Folder tree matching your Events.

I renamed the folder with all iphoto pictures and now an exclamation point comes up when i click on them in iphoto.. how do i fix this?

do you have a default "managed" library (the iPhoto preference to "copy imported items to the iPhoto library is in its checked state) or a referenced library (that preference has been unchecked)?
Where did you change this folder name - in the iPhoto library using the finder (if so you have made a very bad error and unless you can restore it from a backup or change it to exactly what it was you will have to start over from your original photos - NEVER make any changes of any sort to the structure or content of the iPhoto library using the finder or any other program) -- or is it a folder in iPhoto under the albums sedtion (that does not affect yoru photos)

Can I use 2 different accounts on the same Iphoto and then share all these pictures to both accounts?

I have all my family pictures and videos on my macbook pro. Me and my wife have separate apple ids and both of us hold iphones and ipads.
I would like to know if it´s possible to have both of our accounts registered on Iphoto so that all we photograph automatically goes to Iphoto and, thereafter gets sent to all our produtcs.
If not, is it possible to cet the devices to automatically send all our pictures to each other and then to iphoto?

Cannot see all my pictures in apple tv 2

I noticed that in my apple tv 2, I'm not seeing all my pictures from my iphoto library even though I have selected to share entire library. I have tried many things like editing file names to end with .jpg, create a new library and restore previous backup, deselect home sharing, re-select, restart computer and apple tv 2. I've tried all these things and nothing. What I have noticed is that some the pictures that are not sharing to my apple tv are all the one's I took after I got my new computer with osx 10.7. I use to have a power book g4 with Tiger and upgraded to an iMac with Lion 10.7 back in Janurary of this year (2012). So all the pictures I took after I got this new computer are the one's not showing up on my apple tv. I do have some events that I took before I got the new computer that are also not showing either so I'm lost here. Don't know what to do.

Oh, this is probably relevant....
In Library view, the files that are in the 2011 folder are all called DSC00nn-2.NEF ie now have -2 appended to the name.
If I try to add an existing Folder, ie 201, it takes me to Import, and wants to Import the whole lot. ie they are all checked.
Looks like my catalogue is broken, and my worry is all my old edits are lost too.

IPhoto lost all my pictures??

Hey I have a White MacBook2,1 2.16 GHZ intel core 2 duo. I had all my pictures loaded into iphoto and now when I open iphoto it says there is no pictures there and any pictures I save to my desktop become corrupted files so that preview wont open them. but it shows Iphoto as using 3.2 gb on disk space which tells me that the photos are still there just not accessible. the same has now also happened with my itunes music....... any help would be great

1 - Rest easy - So far I have never seen iPhoto lose a single photo - hardware failures have, users have but iPhoto has not - it may lose track of them but unless you deleted them or your disk failed they are there
2 - the following statement makes no sense

What version of iPhoto do you have?
How big is your hard drive and how much free space do you have on it?
Have you made any changes to the iPhoto library through the finder or programs other than iPhoto?

How do I recover all the pictures from the iPhoto version immediately before 9.4.1? I have a full system backup version from about one month before the switch , and mistakenly thought the new iPhoto would default to all my pictues as they were. I also have backups made in Time Machine.

Have you tried what's shown here? I suspect this will solve your issue.

Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1
If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash
Install the App from the App Store.
Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library.
BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

How do I get mi iPhoto pictures on Apple TV?

I just got a new Apple TV and it seems to work but I cannot get my pictures from my iPhoto. I get through iTunes films, music etc but not my pictures!
What can I do?

I mean in iTunes "Library" I have Films, Music, Books, Programmes etc... but no "Pictures".
In the Apple TV I do not see "Pictures" either....although I have Photo Stream..but when I open it says something about an account etc. and that conditions have changed....!!!?

Thanks...I minused the Mobile Me in iphoto but don't know how to delete it in Apple preferences... I still have no idea what Moblie Me was/is or if I should know...thanks again for responding....would you know how to get rid of the Mac.com mail? I only signed up for it when I got the Mac like 5 years ago and only paid a year for it and never used it. Eveytime I want to email something direct, the Mac mail thing pops up. Iphoto pictures all gone

Since getting the latest Mountain Lion and Safari I've been getting a message to choose an iPhoto library and I seem to have chosen the wrong thing and my iPhoto pictures are all gone.

I found my pictures in my Hard Drive All My Files, about 5900 of them. When I tried to import them to iPhoto it imported 2103. They are mostly my saved old eBay pics. I will try your advice later when I have time but I am bewildered as to why Apple does this to us.
