Bug? Can't Drag and Hold Mouse Photoshop CS6 on Windows 8 RP

I am having a few problems with the current Photoshop CS6 on Windows 8RP.
At first it was only the tilit shift and iris but it turns out it's everything to do with when you need to hold the mouse button and drag. It seems that the problem is isolated to Photoshop as other Adobe programmes are working fine plus other programmes and Windows generally is also fine.
I am using an Nvidia GTX580 with Windows 7 drivers until the proper version comes which is late of course!
Plus, I uninstalled my Intellipoint and keyboard drivers too and connected a generic mouse via USB and I still get the same problem.
Weirdly though, every (let's say) 20 times I try to drag and hold after constantly restarting Photoshop it works once then I have to try again a load of times by restarting the application.
Any ideas?
Joe

I'm running photoshop cs6 on windows 8 RP 64 bits and haven't seen that problem
and i didn't see that on the consumer preview either.
This is the driver i'm using:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/win8-64bit-296.17-preview-driver.html
Just watch that windows update doesn't try to sneak in there own driver.
It happened to me twice until i changed the automatic updates to notify
and also watch that doesn't happen with your monitor profile as well.
The updated Nvidia drivers for rp are supposed to be released sometime this coming week.
Do you have any third party plugins or do you have the scriptlistener installed?
Did you try resetting the photoshop preferences or difference modes under the Advanced setting for the the graphics processor under preferences>preformance in photoshop?

  • Can't drag and drop on ps cs6

On photoshop cs6 when I drag in an image it will not allow me. It comes up with a circle with a line through the middle. I've heard that a solution is to disable UAC. I do not want to disable it. Any solutions anyone?

Repairing the permissions of a home folder in Lion is a complicated procedure. I don’t know of a simpler one that always works.
Back up all data now. Before proceeding, you must be sure you can restore your system to its present state
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the page that opens.
Drag or copy — do not type — the following line into the Terminal window, then press return:
    chmod -R -N ~
The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. When a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) appears below what you entered, it’s done. You may see a few error messages about an “invalid argument” while the command is running. You can ignore those. If you get an error message with the words “Permission denied,” enter this:
    sudo !!
You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up.
Next, boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
When the Recovery screen appears, select Utilities ▹ Terminal from the menu bar.
In the Terminal window, enter “resetpassword” (without the quotes) and press return. A Reset Password window opens. You’re not going to reset the password.
Select your boot volume if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
Select  ▹ Restart from the menu bar.

  • Can't use Graphics Processor for Photoshop CS6 on Windows 8

    Hi,
I just got a fresh upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8 Pro (not beta) but then I can't use Photoshop that well. In the Preferences > Performance, I can't tick "Use Graphics Processor". I have an ATI graphics card and yep, I've already tried upgrading/reinstalling my graphics driver, even installing old ones -- and still, this doesn't solve my problem (even in its control panel, I can't seem to see the settings of the graphics card!)
Any ideas/suggestions on how to fix this? Thanks!

What display driver have you installed?  And what is your card?
The ATI Catalyst 12.8 driver release claims to be compatible with Windows 8, though I haven't tried the combination myself yet.
Did you install Windows 8 as an upgrade or a clean install?  The latter is always preferable.
I know a secret registry incantation that will force Photoshop to use the OpenGL subsystem no matter what, and I've used that to get GPU acceleration in a test installation in a virtual machine, but rather that put that forth just yet let's find out if you've done all you can the "above board" way first.

  • Can't drag and drop in Finder with trackpad or magic mouse

I can't seem to drag and drop anthing in the Finder window since updating to Mavericks (10.9). I've tried changing all magic mouse and trackpad settings.  I can drag and drop windows and apps on the dock.  No sure what the issue is....any help is appreciated!

Had the same problem. Reinstalled the software - all is well. Cured many ills with the initial installation - don't bother trying to play with permissions, etc. Just reinstall.
Thank goodness this isn't Micro$oft or you'd have to sit in front of the computer to keep answering the "Okay to reboot" questions every time a chunk of code is installed.

  • Why can't I open subfolders when dragging and holding files?

When I drag-and-hold a file to a folder with the purpose of placing it into one of its subfolders, I can't go past the first folder: in other words, unlike Mavericks, where I could drag the file and open one folder after the other until I could just release my file into the final destination, since I installed Yosemite I can't do it any longer and when I place the dragged file over a subfolder all I see is a "+" sign, but the folder won't open.
Is there a way to restore that functionality?
    Thank you!

See if it works in both another user account and while booted into Safe Mode.
OS X: What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode? - Apple Support
If it works in another account, it is something interfering with it in your user account.
If it works in Safe Mode, then it is something that runs at startup.

  • I can't drag and drop an image into Photoshop CS5

I don't know what's going on. I've never had this problem before.
When I try to drag and image into photoshop I get the black circle with a black line through it
I took of the administrative settings also. I've tried everything, I've uninstalled it then reinstalled it. Nothing. Please help.

Well yes cleem any photoshop icon, or shortcut, whether its in your start menu, on you desktop....
careful: this is tricky, if you right click the photoshop icon on your windows 7 taskbar, a new menu opens, you'll have to right click again on the "Photoshop cc" icon, in order to access properties.
does this make it clear? did it work fine with you? let me know

  • I can't copy and paste in Photoshop.

I can't copy and paste in Photoshop. When I try to copy a layer with Crtl + C, nothing happens. I am on Windows 7 64 Bit.

Another way is to select your layer in Layers panel.
Select the Move tool, hold down your mouse button on the source document.
Drag it onto the tab of the target document, that window opens.
Then onto the document and release.

  • How can I drag and drop a Tidal job into another group?

How can I drag and drop a Tidal job into another group? In Tidal Help, it says-
In the Jobs pane, press and hold the Ctrl key and at the same time right-click and either individually select individual jobs within a job group or drag your mouse cursor over a block of jobs that you wish to select. You can only move multiple jobs between job groups if the jobs being moved are on the same level.
Keeping the right mouse button depressed, drag the cursor to the job group that you wish to move the jobs to and release the mouse button.
When moving jobs from one job group to another, you must decide if the moved jobs keep their original job group attributes or assume the calendar and agent characteristics of its new job group.
A confirmation dialog, offers three inheritance options for the jobs moved to the "new" job group parent. Select one of the following options:
However, when I attempt to follow those instructions, it doesn't work at all and there is no indication that it's even trying (i.e., I don't see the selected job following my cursor at all and all I get is the normal menu when you right click anywhere on the screen.)
Is there another way to do this or is there a master setting that needs to be changed so that ability is enabled?
    Thanks.

Go into edit mode for the job group group and just manually edit the section for Parent job/Group.
    Cheers

  • Bridge CS6 Mac XMP File Info Panel Bug: can't copy and paste metadata

The cmd-keys / shortcuts doesn't work in the xmp file info panel btw. in the xmp / iptc fields (e.g. cmd+c, cmd+v, ...) of Adobe Bridge CS6 (Mac OS 10.6.8 and 10.7.3). You are not able to cut and paste info from one box to another like previous versions.
This bug only appears in the xmp file info window (opened via alt+i) in Bridge CS6 - if you edit information or metadata in the file info panel in Photoshop CS6 copy and paste from one field to another works.
The shortcuts also work under Windows (tested under Vista).
I noticed this minor bug already one in the Photoshop CS6 Beta more than one months ago. I hoped that this was corrected in the official test version, but unfortunately it is not. Although it is a minor bug, it is IMHO a basic function and would be very helpful in my daily work - it is too bad, that such a small thing is making working with the application a little bit annoying.

Thanks! If there is a workaround or simple solution, I would be very glad if you could inform me.

  • Can't drag and drop nor copy  and past with iMac with OS 10.8.1.

Can't drag and drop nor copy and past with iMac with OS 10.8.1.  Not with iTunes, MS Word, nor Pages.  No where.  Reboot or relogging in helps for about an hour.  Hard reset worked for a short time. Per Apple support, most likely will reinstall the operation system.  Just wondered if anybody else has run into this.  Did a disk scan, and that was fine.  And did rebooting, holding down CMD+OPT+R, and P..  Deleted all the start up programs.  Checked the internet, no solutions there.  So it all appears to be OS redo time.

Do you subscribe to MLB.tv, and if so, did you install the NextDef plug in? If so, read this…
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/19185556#19185556
I removed the NextDef plug in over 24 hours ago, restarted and haven't had a single issue with drag and drop or cut and paste since.

  • Can't drag and drop in iTunes

    What's going on with iTunes (10.4 (80))?
I can't drag and drop my songs, re-order my playlists or anything?? I can import a song into a playlist, but it just appears as the last item in the list, I can't place it where I want.
I've checked other complaints here, but there doesn't seem to be a definitive answer: is this a bug? Is it going to be fixed soon? If not, can I downgrade to a previous version?

I am having a similar problem. For some time I have had sudden loss of drag and drop so that I cannot even move a song around in a playlist, much less to another list. The only thing that stops the is a full system reboot. I have been waiting for a fix however version 10 is much worse. I am having this fail almost every day. I am running an internet radio show from my computer and use iTunes to set up playlists. When I have this problem happen, I have to kick my listeners off and reboot. This is NOT an acceptable situation. I am running iTunes 10.01 on a 2.8 GHz Core i7 iMac with 8 GB of onboard memory. This problem has been happening since at least version 9, however.
Somebody at Apple please fix this! Or tell me a workaround that does not involve me closing all other programs There is no excuse for this problem continuing.

  • Can't drag and drop in to open/save dialog

Hi, guys! Is that true that in the Mac OS Lion you can't drag and drop file into open (or save, or any other) dialog? In Snow Leoprd and Leopard I use that ability very often and now when I drag and drop something like that, nothing happens! Is it bug? Can I fix it somehow? If it's not, that's really suck!!!

I used this feature heavily (a huuuge time saver when working with Quicksilver... )I used to be able to find any file on my system in seconds and drag it into this dialog...
Is there any news on enabling this in all programs like it was in Snow Leopard?
    I really miss this feature.

  • IE10 on Win7 and OWA 2010 can't drag and drop

I've upgraded to IE10 for win7.  When I login to OWA for exchange 2010, I notice I can't drag and drop emails into any folders.  Compatibility mode doesn't work either.  The only way for it to work is to go into developer mode and force "Document

How do we post bugs for the exchange team to fix?  I'm sure they have to update the OWA code to fix this.

Same here. Notifications can't be retrieved... but oddly enough, if there is an appt. the notification pop-up still works. Email notifications still work. But I get the error message that notifications can't be retrieved. Drag/Drop does not work.
Of course, everything works fine in every other browser.
This tends to imply that the programmers of OWA are using Chrome (or something other than IE) to do their development. Can't say that I blame them.
Setting the document mode to IE 9 does NOT work for me. I have also installed SP3 and RU1.

  • Can't drag and drop on desktop and I've tried all suggestions from previous threads

Yesterday I found that I can't drag and drop any files on my desktop. I get the white circle with a line through it when I try to drag anything. I can drag off of my desktop to my HD and to the trash but I can't drag anything back.
I've read all of the previous threads about it and have tried all of the poetntail fixes including:
Creating a new user account and switching back and forth
    Sleep / Wake
    Relaunching Finder
Checking the Dragging option in Universal Access
Checking all of my settings in prefrences
(I don't have Air Display, Airparrot or any of the other listed problematic 3rd party programs)
I even reinstalled Lion and the problem still exists

  • Can't drag and drop files into Indesign.

My ability to dragon and drop files into InDesign has stopped. I also cannot copy and paste. I have tried dropping previously used jpg's and PDFs as well as copying text from Acrobat, Chrome and Word. I reset the prefrences with control option command shift, but still no luck - I can't drag and drop files. Also, I cannot move files with my mouse in the program.

Nobody can help you without system information. Could be anything from graphics driver issues to a defective mouse to a busted operating system...
