Bug caused by forced log out

I was writing a reply.  I walked away for a long while.  When I came back, I wanted to add an image.  I clicked on the camera icon.  I got this message instead:

  • Forced log out

Strangest thing just happened to me...
I was quietly and quickly logged out by the OS. That's it. I was working, the screen faded out, then I was shown my login screen. It exhibited the same behavior when I drag my cursor to a hot corner to activate my screensaver. I even logged back in thinking I had done that, but all my apps were closed, as if I just started up from a fresh bootup. It logged me out! All my once-open apps were closed, files gone, quietly, quickly...like a snow leopard would do.
There wasn't any commotion or anything. Based on the timestamps, here are the last few messages noted in Console:

This was totally weird. I have no idea why this would happen.

If the Cisco NAC Appliance system somehow terminates the OOB client session (if the system administrator is forced to "kick" the user out, for example) and the switch changes the VLAN assignment for the client's access port from the Access VLAN back to the Authentication VLAN, the client machine discovers the VLAN change and automatically initiates an IP address refresh/renew to ensure the user stays connected to the network.

  • Force log out

    Hi,
Is there a way to force a user to automatically log out without quitting all running applications afetre a period of inactivity ?
    Thanks in advance.

By definition, logging out will quit all running applications. That's what logging out means.
By reading your link, what you seem to want is to have original account still logged in, with all documents still open and programs still running, but after a period of inactivity, have the login window brought to the front. That way other users will see the login window and can log in themselves. Is that right?
If so, this screensaver can do that:
    http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/15090/ciao
You will need to enable fast user switching first.
Another thing you can do is to just set a screen saver lock. When other users try to wake up your screen, they will be presented with a "switch user" button, which will take them to the login window, from where they can log in to their own accounts.

  • How do i log out from my Itunes account?(Force log out)

    Hello..
I recently sold my IPhone 3G to a guy i don't know and bought a 3Gs but i think i forgot to log out from my iTunes account
I didn't have any concerns until today when i got a message when trying to update my applications in ITunes saying that this account has been accessed from another computer and requested that i verify my CC(Credit card) password.
I changed my account password and confirmed my credit card password and got charged 1$ but what i wanna know is if i am safe now, meaning if that guy still has my account info without my password, will it promp him for the Password when he tries to buy or use my account??
    Thank you in advance..
    Rami.

    Press sign in, login.
Go to Store -> authorize this computer. Do what you have to do.
And do not forget when you leave to deauthorize that comp and log out.

  • Toast Tries to Force Log Out

Over the weekend, I was burning some CDs for someone who hired me to design their website. I started the process, and walked away. When I came back, my MBP was in screen saver mode (these were CDs with about 620 MB of data, so about a 20 minute burn on lowest speed).
When I woke it up from the screen saver, it was awfully laggy. Then, after finally logging in, the first thing I saw was the familiar "An application cancelled logout" window, and everything except Toast was closed.
Anyone else experiencing this problem? Its not major because it doesn't actually shut down/log out before my disk is done (and after I click OK in the dialog box is stops logging out anyways), but its really annoying.....

You can't chage this.  What's going on is that apps are permanently tied to the Apple ID used to purchase them, and all future updates will require you to enter the password associated with this ID, even if you are not currently using this ID for purchases.  The only way to stop the prompt for your older ID would be to delete these apps from your phone and your iTunes library and repurchase them using your current ID.

  • CUPC 8.6 logs out in softphone mode / works in deskphone mode

    Hi everyone,
I'm experience an unusal problem with a virtual lab deployment I'm mocking up.  I have CUCM, CUC, and CUPS versions 8.6 all running on ESXi 4.1.  I have one Windows Server 2003 desktop with CIPC running and everything works fine.  When I launch the CUPC client, it works when running in desktop mode, however, as soon as I uncheck the button at the bottom of CUPC to switch it to softphone mode, it "silently" crashes or logs me out.
My initial guess it that it may be an issue with the virtual sound driver (virtual audio cable) I'm using in order to get CIPC to install and work.  Because it's for a mock lab I don't actually need sound, just the functionality.  However, CIPC works fine so I'm not 100% sure how I can check if the virtual audio driver is causing CUPC to log out.  I only assume that because when it has to change from desk phone mode to soft phone mode it's going to use the audio drivers installed on the local pc.
Is there any where I can check a log file to see if this is the case?  Or, is there a better solution to installing both CIPC and CUPC in a virtual enviornment?
    Thanks!

I'm running 8.6 on everything.  And yes I setup a CSF device in CUCM not a UCP device like previous versions.  It works now and I know I've used it before on W2k3 server but not virtualzed (not exactly sure why it would be different).  Well, technically I used 8.0 on W2k3 and not 8.6 so there's probably some other underlying differences there as well.

  • Automatically log out idle and disconnected users

    Hi,
    Windows Server 2008 R2 Domain.
Im trying to have users that are connected with RDP to other servers and clients to automatically log out if there are idle og disconnected for more than 30 minutes. Im able to get it working if i use computer configuration, but I want this to work under
user configuration, so im not sure what I am doing wrong.
I have configured the following. Created a single GPO on the root of the domain, and put a desktop 7 client in this container. Then i have configured a GPO with the following settings: User Configuration>Policies>Administrative Templates>Windows
Components>Remote Desktop Services>Session Time Limits: Here I have enabled "Set time limit for disconncted sessions", "Set time limit for active but idle...." and "End session when time...."
If i check the GPO, under security filtering i have Authenticated Users, and they have read and apply, and it is linked to the correct OU.
If I now log in to my client and do a gpupdate /force log out and in again, I can see the GPO is not applied correct. The strange thing is that is named under Computer Settings> The following GPOs were not applied because they are filtered out.. here
is my GPO and reason is "Not applied (Empty). Under User settings there is no such GPO applied...
I thought that it should have been under user settings .... if i configure the GPO as a computer settings it works.... but should not this also work for users ?
    /Regards Andreas

    It will come at : User Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Terminal Services\Terminal Server\Session Time Limits
    Refer below link
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc753112%28v=ws.10%29.aspx
It will come means, you will find the settings at the mentioned path. That's for terminal session can be applied on servers not necessarily only for Terminal servers.
Best practice is to add security group in the security filter. But yes if you have less number of users, you can add them directly.

  • How to log out using BASIC authentication

    Hi,
we are using JSC and Sun Appserver8.
To authenticate we are using BASIC authentication and it works well.
Now we need to do a log out function because of new demands.
Is it possible to log out when using BASIC authentication ?
    If so, how?
    /Regards Krister

If you are using Basic Authentication, you may not be able to force log out. In that case you may have to use form based authentication.
    Please read more details here

Bug: 2780176 - Logging and logging out multiple times in LCDS can cause duplicate session detected errors.
    QA: Yes
    Doc: No
    Checkintests: Pass
Details: When a logout was followed by an immediate login, sometimes the server would throw duplicate session detected errors. This was because when logout happened, a fire-and-forget disconnect message was sent to the server that established a new session, and if the subsequent login happened before disconnect ACK returned from the server, that would establish another session and hence the error. The fix is to insert a slight delay between disconnect and ResultEvent dispatching. This way, disconnect has a chance to return before a login is performed.
    Modified Paths:
        flex/sdk/trunk/frameworks/projects/rpc/src/mx/messaging/ChannelSet.as

You've got an  incompatible Logitech driver and java was incompletely uninstalled.
You may have a problem with the Wacom driver.
I don't know if fixing those things will help.
There also a few window server errors, but I don't know if they are causal.
If you can note the time of the hangs, that might help narrow it down in the logs.

  • How can I keep Firefox from saving my my last visited websites, even after I log out and Force Quit?

I quit and Force Quit Firefox when I log out of my MacBook Pro. Lately when I re-start Firefox, it has saved my last few visited websites and asks me if I'd like to restore these, or quit. How can I get Firefox to stop saving these sites and really quit?

hello, this is currently a problem in firefox when you first close all open firefox windows and then close the application afterwards - the bug should be addressed in a later version of firefox.
as a workaround in the meanwhile you could close firefox (through firefox > quit) while the browser window is still running or try this: enter about:config into the firefox location bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named '''browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash'''. double-click it and change its value to '''false'''.

  • HOW can I FIX Mavericks and Safari 7.0 to allow Gmail to work?  Gmail has been FUBAR'd since downloading Mavericks today.  Finally found the brute-force logout site to just getr logged out; can't keep doing that.  Other features no longer work, either.

Made big mistake of downloading Mavericks today.
Been struggling with all the FUBARd messes it caused, ALL DAY.
Google basic buttons don't work--can't log out or other basic functions.
    Website use is impaired.
It took almost 3 hours to do a basic online order on one of them--at this rate, I'll be out of business soon, and it's seriously impairing Christmas preparations!
Google Voice/Video are screwed up, had to RE-download their voice/video plugin all over again--again.
    Voice/video quality is REALLY poor.
Lag times in so many things are bad.
Thought this would download WITH the better writing/bookkeeping programs--NOT!
Mac Maps is piddle compaired with GoogleMaps.
The Email program on the desktop is REALLY hard to use, has few useful functions.  It's MAYbe good if one only has ONE email; using it with severeal various email accounts is a serious liability in many ways--like filing, sorting, marking, etc.; no clear way to move email files to an external drive to save, to unload the HD.
HOW can Safari and Mavericks be fixed?
IF not, HOW can I REMOVE Mavericks and get back to Mountain Lion--which was not too great, but certainly more functional than Mavericks!
I NEED my web-based emails to work--NOW...NOT when Mac finally gets around to fixing things sometime later.
I NEED online ordering to work--NOW--not later when Mac finally gets around to fixing things.
PLEASE someone--any help out there?  I couldn't even find but a rare hint that Safari 7.0 even exists--much less that anyone admits it's got problems, nor fixes for it.
What to do?  Throw the whole unit out? Wipe and reboot?  Dumb it back to OS 10? HOW? WHAT?
    [freaking out here...]

    Zak Adelman, LexSchellings,
It's a shiney new computer.  Came loaded with Mountain Lion.
Too busy learning to use the blessed thing, to download anything....except...
The only pluggin that had to be loaded, was Google Voice-Video pluggin, while Lion was still it's OS.  [AND been using the Safari that came already in it.]   Had to do that a couple times--nothing new there--that plug-in had to be re-loaded when using a PC, too--THAT happened even before Google slammed everyone into coerced use of it's Google+.
[I understood from others, that Firefox won't work in Mac units--or I woulda put that in it to see if that solved anything]
This unit seemed a bit sluggish from the git-go, out-of-the-box.
I figured that was probly the local DSL here---rural DSL is...um...our DSL's not something to brag about, but it's the best we can do...
The difference between speed of loading pages, etc. on the new Mac, was --not-- toooo terribly different--though yes, slower on Mac....and chalked it up to my inexperience with Mac.
Been trying to get things up and running for a bit over a month now.
NOT doing very well at it--just barely getting by; rapidly falling behind what needs done [work].
Google worked just --OK-- when OS was Lion, as did the Google voice/video--slower, and voice-video was kinda scratchy or glitchy, but worked enough to --get by--.
    Loading Mavericks, ruined that.
VOIP calls via Google talk have bad echio, static, cut-outs; video calling was pixilated or not working; WAS cued to re-load it's Voice-Video plug-in....which seemed to help a bit, though not very well; it only helped the Voice-Video some, not all--figured that was probably Google issues, less than Mac's, since Google has been increasingly dysfunctional as they have twisted it to be a social media-dominant thing.
[[now seeking an email venue that does what Gmail was good at, including the Voice-video calling, that has no intention of turning itself inside out to be "social"]]
Can't sign out of Gmail or Google+, nor use buttons in upper right corner with the drop-down menu.
NO buttons in upper right corner cluster on Gmail work, except the name+ button to toggle over to Google+---which I don't need! [yeah--THAT's a Google problem!]
Can only switch to HTML version by catching that button as the account signs in--if one fails to be fast enough with their fingers, it goes to Google+; can't get to email unless type in mail.google.com.
Managed to catch that button today, and clicked to use HTML "permanently" until these issues get solved.
    ALSO:
Have fairly new [about 1 year?] HP bluetooth printer-scanner.
BUT, after Mavericks loaded: it HAS the unit listed, HAS drivers for it, HP unit IS listed as default printer, everything --seems-- "go",
.....except Mac keeps posting it's out of ink, and/or, not hooked up, and/or not turned on--even when it is on.
    It's SUPPOSED to be blue-toothing that printer/scanner.
It did it for Lion, before loading Mavericks, even though it was troublesome to get it to work, it at least HAD printed one document when Lion was the OS.
    Thank you...Downloaded EtreCheck:
BTW:  Trying to copy/paste data from that check list, to this post, was achaic:
had to use Edit, select all, then use edit again to get it pasted--the mouse buttons weren't allowed to copy-paste using right-click functions [is this a relic limited-function "thing" with Mac?, or is it because I wanted to keep using this new wirless, non-Mac mouse?].
    Advice?

  • Is there a way to force a file sharing user to log out?

I have a problem: I've got a few more Macs in my office that need to connect to my computer from time to time via file sharing than OS X Snow Leopard wants to allow. I know Apple wants me to use OS X Server but I don't want to lose the simplicity of my normal workflow. Part of the problem is that users are not logged out unless they manually close the file share, which means that, say, a laptop that's asleep will still be taking up one "file sharing user slow" even though it's not needed. I can see who is logged in via the command
set theUsers to do shell script "netstat -na | awk '/.548/ {print $5}'"
but want I need to know is, is there any way to force, say, user 192.168.1.8.50244 off of my file share without stopping and restarting file sharing, which logs everyone out (and breaks some of my scripts on other computers.
    Any help would be appreciated.

You could start with this hint and go from there...

  • Log Out causes display distortion

    Hi folks
I currently have two user accounts on my MacBook Pro because of a recent attempt to use Migration Assistant.  While trying to sort out the mess this has left me with, I have been switching between the 2 accounts.
I have noticed that when I log out the displayed in shortened in the vertical direction, leaving me with black bars about 1cm wide on top and below.  In addition, the clarity of the display is blurred slightly.  Switching back to the other account does not fix the issue, though if I restart and login from there everything is normal.
Something about logging out is causing the issue. Any ideas?
    Thanks

Well my problem did NOT go away either. At the Apple Store, I had 3 geniuses help and no one could figure it out. AppleCare top support people as well. No one knew. Hardware checked out. Software seemed fine. Solution? They gave me a new machine. Not what I was hoping for as I wish they found the answer. However, the unit is said to go to Apple diagnostics and they will trouble shoot it. Hopefully, someday we will get an answer. Until then, I wish everybody well and hope this doesn't happen to everybody's MBP 15 i7.
One question - how did all of you bring in your user (home) files, if you did. I had dragged over my home folder so there was POSSIBLY an issue in there that the new i7 doesn't like?
If one of you above, did NOT bring in a home folder, that would get rid of one culprit.

  • I am suddenly logged out from whatever program or app i am working on and i have to log back in.  one solution suggested is to reset or restore of my IOS software which is quite an involved endeavor.  anyone knows of the cause and simpler solution?

i find that i am suddenly logged out of  program or an app or website, and i am back to the HOME screen.  i have to log back in and sometimes i find back exactly where i left off, some stuff i have entered or written,  or sometimes i have to start all over again and re-enter data or write back what i seem to have lost.
i tried a different browser and it does not solve the problem.  i tried different  apps, website and programs and it happens anywhere and at any app, program or website.
apple staff suggested a complete restore of the IOS software, which is quite an involved process. does anyone know of any possible causes and a simpler
solution without having to reset the entire IOS 7.0.6

    Hello Philly,
I believe that when you reset your ipod(command given from the computer, right?)  touch WHILE the ipod was updating, It cleared the system in the middle of writing files, thus corrupting(equivalent of cutting of in the middle of a sentence) the basic running system.
I suggest you go to an apple store and ask for a technical diagonosis in person. they may offer to help if the problem is fixable. If your ipod is still under warrenty, i would guess it would be free/low cost.

  • Force end of session when user closes window without logging out

I want to protect sensitive employee data. Does anyone know how to force a user's portal session to be terminated after a user closes a window with the "X" instead of logging out?

Web application is connectionless. So there is no way to tell if a user has disconnected. If the user diligently logout, then invalidating a session is no problem. However, if you wish to invalidate the user upon closing of window, I suggest you drop that idea and change to different approach.
    1. If you are trying to impose single logon policy, you may consider invalidate an existing session if the same user login again.
    2. If you really need to invalidate a user session as soon as he is inactive (or closes window). I suggest you set a very small timeout interval (maybe 3 minutes). Then for all the pages, implement a simple invisible IFRAME that will keep refreshing itself (say every 2 minutes) on a dummy JSP/servlet URL. The fact that this IFRAME always hit the URL at 2 mins interval will keep the user session valid. Once the browser window is closed, the session will be invalidated in max 3 mins time.
The final suggestion is to drop that idea altogether, the point is ... implement such feature is like twisting web application to do something that it is not design to do naturally.
