Bug Converting Pixels to Points in PS CC??

Even though I try typing in a point size for type, photoshop displays "pt" next to the number, but it always remains in pixels.
I'm designing iPhone apps, needed to be in points for developers to convert with Xcode. Two Weeks ago I was using points, but now PS won't let me. I think it is a bug...
I tried to go into PS's settings and change units to points. Still no good. All it does is change the "px" next to a font size to "pt" but does nit actually change the size of the font.

Yes, I did that (as stated above) and that is not working. It changes the "px" to "pt" but does not actually have any affect what-so-ever Thanks for trying, JJMack

    As far as I can tell, they're the same - I know they are in Photoshop at least. My 57x57 point Tab Bar icon is also 57x57 pixels.

  • Pixels. Points. 72 ppi in InDesign/PDFs.

    Hello.
    Apologies if this has been raised before.
    My problem simply is:
    When exporting my 100 pts x 100 pts InDesign document to PDF, the PDF at 100% takes up 136 x 136 pixels on screen.
    … perhaps dispelling the myth that 1 points = 1 pixel.
    What’s interesting is that when I export to JPEG, the JPEG at 100% takes up 100 x 100 pixels on screen. This how I want PDFs to behave!
    There are NO images placed in my InDesign file.
    Your thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.
    Some more reading I found...

    Works like a charm for me.
    InDesign - Preferences - Units and Guides - Points
    File New document - 100 x 100 points
    Draw frame - 100 x 100 points
    Export to PDF
    - Edit Object - opens in illustrator - dimensions 100 pixels by 100 pixels or 100 points x 100 points
    - In the PDF the dimensions are 100 points x 100 points (there is no pixel measurement)
    Export to JPG- 72 ppi
    Open file in photoshop - 100 pixels x 100 pixels and 100 points x 100 points
    Perhaps you're 100 points is converting to Pixels because it's 72 ppi
    If that's the case then (100/72)*100 = 138 pixels
    Hope that makes sense.

    To get the 'handout view' with a slide and the speaker notes on the same page, you have to save the PDF file directly from PowerPoint (the later versions of Microsoft Office can make PDF files without the help of Acrobat).

  • Error -1074396113 Convert Pixel To Real World During Camera Feed

    Hello,
    I am fairly new to LabView and am encountering an error that I can't seem to solve.
    I am utilizing an image feed from a firewire camera to detect the real world location of a white line.  I have modified a tested, existing VI that processes the stream into individual image files, which I then pass to the VIs I wrote.
    Using the NI Vision Assistant, I created a script that extracts a color plane and processes the image to a binary image, where "off" is blank space and "on" is the line I am trying to find.  I then pass this image onto another VI, where I am encountering the error "Error -1074396113 occurred at IMAQ Convert Pixel To Real World.  The source/input image has not been calibrated" when I attempt to convert the binary image into real world coordinates using the "convert pixel to real world" VI.
    I have calibrated my camera per instructions in the NI Vision Assistant.  Strangely, once the program encounters the error and I stop execution of the VI, then re-run just the image processing VIs on the static image still retained in the wire, everything executes properly.
    I would appreciate any help in this matter,
    Thank you,

  • Better method to convert pixels to ems

    Don't know if my Dreamweaver CS5 can help me do this:
    I'm experimenting with making my site more accessible for vision-impaired people by using ems in my CSS style sheet for image sizes as described at http://sperling.com/examples/zoom/
    The problem I have is calculating the ems. I have to open the image in Photoshop, use Image Size to figure what the height and width pixels would be at a slightly smaller size, then go to an online site that lets me convert pixels to ems. What a hassle. Shorter path?
    - Keith Purtell

    First you must establish the base font-size in your CSS like so:  This assumes 1em = 100% = 16px (standard browser default).
    html {font-size: 100%}
    body {font-size: 1em}
    Then define your page layout and division widths in ems using the following formula:
    1 divided by 16 = 0.0625
    multiplied by the number of pixels required
    = value in ems.
    0.0625 X 900px = 56.25em
    0.0625 X 300px = 18.75em
    0.0625 X 150px = 9.375em
    #wrapper { width: 56.25em}
    #divName {width: 18.75em}
    #divName img {width: 9.375em; height: 9.375em}
    IMPORTANT!  If you don't wrap elastic images inside elastic containers, your page will fall apart when people increase text size in browser.
    You can see a working DEMO of this method here:

  • Convert pixel point to Latitude and Longitude

    I am trying to create a custom map for iOS. For the time being I am using Openstreetmap images for the custom map app.
    Now what I want is to convert the pixel point to Latitude and Longitude value at a particular zoom level. I am finding out the tile(pixel point) in which I clicked. I need to find out the Lat and Long of that particular point. How this can be calculated? Is there any general formula to find the Lat & Long from pixel point.
    Thanks in advance

  • Pixels to Points: Page Size

    Pardon me if this question has been asked before...
    I'm transitioning from exclusively using the Woodwing digital magazine tools to the Adobe DPS tools. When creating InDesign files, we previously measured them in points. 558.5x408 for landscape, and 418.9x547.636 for portrait. This was because the Woodwing reader apps allow room for the status bar.
    Using the DPS system (sans status bar), by my calculations pages should be 558.5x418.9 points. I'm seeing everywhere that people are setting up their InDesign files in pixels, 1024x768. But if I do that, sizes are not 1:1. For example: 9 point type with 12 pt leading, on a 1024 px page doesn't look like 9/12 pt. In order for 9 pt type to appear the same optical size on a 1024 artboard as it does on the iPad, I have to scale it up to about 15.6 pt with 22 pt leading. That's of course for a 1024 px folio.
    So my question: Is there any reason we can't continue to measure digital magazine files in points, @ 558.5x418.9? We'd really like to use 1:1 type measurements without having to constantly recalculate measurements.
    P.S. We have a client presentation deadline tomorrow, and really need to figure this out today! We've nearly finished the entire publication layout, so I'm hoping we can continue to use these measurements. Our images are all @ 264 DPI or higher, if that makes any difference.

    1. You will observe that the bbox value is of type ASFixedRect. This contains four ASFixed values. THESE ARE NOT INTEGERS as you are assuming.
    2. Once you have converted your ASFixed values you will have a value in default page units, that is 1/72 inch.
    3. The media box may not be the page size. To match the page size in all cases you need to ALSO consider the crop box and page rotate values.

  • How can I convert 400 data points from a spreadsheet file to an array?

    The spreadsheet file contains over 5000 data points (in one column) of which I only want the first 400 and want to convert them to an array in Labview. I tried to use the 'readfromspreadsheet' vi but it wasn't much help. Please tell me how i should approach this problem and what vi's to use.

    I attach a model vi that you can experiment with. You will need to know the formatting of the data in your file, from there -plus the delimiter- you'll be able to estimate how many characters makes the first 400 data point. It's possible to develop a more robust vi to do this, in the mean time, the attached vi can quickly give some answer.

  • BUG - Indexing Options keep pointing to D drive rather than the C drive - search charm won't work

    So I noticed that the search in my Windows 8.1 simply won't work to find files and settings. Then I went to Indexing Options in the Control Panel and I noticed that one of the locations Indexing was trying to point to is:
    D:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\ (Unavailable)
    This is odd since this is not the location of the Start Menu (which is in the C drive, not the D drive).
    So I went on to remove this location and manually add the location of the Start Menu in the C drive (i.e. C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\).
    To my surprise, adding the location in the C drive is actually listed as the D drive -- not the C drive. In Fact any directory I try to add to the Index located in the C drive is in fact listed as being in the D drive!
    I'm at a loss here, and in fairness I reckon this is a bug.
    Have anyone here ever experienced this? Is there any workaround?
    EDIT: While the search does not work. It seems like the Windows Explorer search works without any issues.
    Also I reckon it is worth mentioning that I change the location of my search index to the D drive. This is because my C drive is a Solid State Drive, while my D drive is a traditional Hard Drive.
    Thanks in advance for the help.
    Regards,
    P.

    Hi,
    I made a test in my fresh building Windows 8.1. Create a new drive and a new folder in it. After that, add the folder into Windows Index Location. When I delete the folder, its shows up as the screenshot below:
    As you can see, it's same with yours, If I choose uncheck the Index folder and reopen Windows Index Location, it would be dispare from this panel.
    While for your problem, actually, move the index location is no difference to your Windows search, it just change search file location.
    To identify if this is a disk drive problem, you can opt to use Diskpart command to check your drive letter if it was correct.
    Open Command Prompt with admin, then type diskpart.
    Afer that, type list volume, check current disk label.

  • How to convert pixels in mm ?

    Hello everybody!
    I'm making a tool in which the user specifies the size of the frame, I want to give him the opportunity to choose between units of measurement. How do I convert one unit to another? Centimeters to millimeters as I know :-)
    The calculations in my instrument produced in pixels. A user wants to place on a sheet of paper photos of a certain size in order to then cut them after printing and pasted into the frame.
    This part of the script produces the  selection of the pixel size, but calculation was conducted in millimeters.
    app.preferences.rulerUnits = Units.MM;
    var newSelect = Array(
                       Array(Left, Top),
                       Array(Right, Top),
                       Array(Right, Bottom),
                       Array(Left, Bottom),
                       Array(Left, Top)
    doc.selection.select(newSelect);
    Came up with a solution, I do not know how much it is optimal - use factor
    app.preferences.rulerUnits = Units.MM;
    rmm = doc.width;
    app.preferences.rulerUnits = Units.PIXELS;
    rpix = doc.width;
    var propPixMm = rpix.value/rmm.value;

    my variant (all correct):
    #target photoshop
    var doc = app.activeDocument ;
    app.preferences.rulerUnits = Units.MM;
    rmmW = doc.width.value;
    app.preferences.rulerUnits = Units.PIXELS;
    rpixW = doc.width.value;
    var PixMm = rpixW/rmmW;
    alert(rmmW +"mm / "+rpixW +"pix\n factor " + PixMm);

  • CS6 Bug Report: Pen tool points offset from cursor

    Hello,
    I want to report the current behavior change of the pen tool. In current and older versions, clicking with the pen tool on the canvas, created a point that was exactly centered with the cursor's center point, as expected.
    Now, in Photoshop CS6, clicking on the canvas with the pen tool results in path points created not in the same spot where one clicks, but offset a couple pixels.
    For people who, like me, use the pen tool a lot and do it fast, this change translates into lower precision when creating paths as, when the new points are created, if they are offset, the whole last leg of the path changes position.
    Can we expect that to be corrected for the final version?
    Thanks

    Im trying the BETA on a Mac Pro running Lion. I doubt this is a driver related problem since it is easily reproducible on various systems, both OSX and Windows.
    CS5: Zoom in really close until you can see the pixel grid. Grab the pen tool and create a path anchor anywhere. Wherever you click, a pont will appear.
    CS6: Do the same, click. This time, the path's point will appear in the closest corner of a pixel, as if new paths anchors where snapping to the pixel grid.
    See how anchor points snap to the pixel grid? That doesn't happen in CS5.
    Hope this comment helps.

    Hello,
    I would like to help you with this topic.
    I have one question: have you tried to run the VI with highlight mode or with probes to see what happens step by step?
    Concerning the broken wire, as far as I can see it, its just the dimensions of the output array which does not fit.
    The data is an array of the dimension 2 but you connected an array with dimension 1.
    So LabVIEW will not run the VI, I posted a screenshot with the new Array in the BD. As you can see, the wire now has two lines instead of one.
    You can always add suitable FP indicators by right-clicking -> create -> indicator.
    Please let me know if this is useful for you.
    I am looking forward to hearing from you!
    Have a nice day,
