BUG: Create Subversion Connection Dialog Loop

Hi,
Using JDeveloper 11g:
1. Check out an application from a repository using the command-line version of Subversion (svn).
2. Open the .jws file for an application.
3. Right-click a Java file that exists in the "Java Files" pane.
4. Select something that requires a subversion repository (Right-click >> Versioning >> Properties).
5. JDeveloper will prompt for connection parameters.
6. Press ESC to cancel the operation.
JDeveloper will splash an error dialog indicating that no connection parameters were supplied. A few moments later it displays the prompt for connection parameters. Press ESC to cancel the operation, and the prompt cycle repeats.

I lodged both a documentation bug, and an enhancement request with Oracle Support about this issue. The documentation bug is that the docs keep referring users to the Versioning menu for all things that have to do with source control - but the repository browser is not there - as you learned. The enhancement request is to move it.

    it's ok, my mistake

  • 3.1EA3 Can not create first connection on a virginal installation.

To test a clean installation I
    1) unzipped the download package (sqldeveloper-3.1.06.82.zip of 203Mb, so including the JDK) in a separate folder
    2) removed folders "SQL Developer" and "Oracle SQL developer Data Modeler" from my C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\
On the first startup there is (as expected) no proposal to migrate any settings.
Opening "New" (by either using the button, ctrl+N or menu File/New) opens the "Create a new" dialog.
There I select the first item: "Database connection" and click OK.
    The "New Gallery" window opens.
When either selecting "Database Tier" or "General/Connections" in the tree, the option "Database Connection" is available. It describes how it should "Opens the Create Database Connection dialog". But when I click OK, nothing happens (apart from breefly changing my mouse cursor)... :-(
On the other hand an other option (Subversion Repository Connection) works fine: selecting it and then clicking OK yields a "Create Subversion Connection" dialog as expected.
After restarting SQL Developer the same behaviour remains (also see PS below)
By now I also tried the "All Items" option in the "New Gallery" tree. This lists two kinds of database connections:
    Database Connection (Database Tier)
    Database Connection (Connections)
When I try the first option (Tier) I again get no dialog.
When I try the first option (Connections) I also get no dialog.
In short I can't make any connections.
    Some more info.
By mistake, i just started up my 3.0 version, but before restoring my C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\ folders.
After having dismissed the migrate dialog (I suppose it saw the files created by the 3.1), the screen looked different from the 3.1 in an important way:
The 3.0 has the gray screen with the slanted list of buttons on the right, but on the left it also has the treeview (showing an empty list of connections).
The 3.1 version has the same grey window, but that is all: there is no treeview on the left...
    PS.
When opening SQL Developer the second time, the following error appeared in the logging page, but I concidder this to be irrelevant (since I don't use TimesTen)
SEVERE     86     0          Failed to create addin oracle.dbtools.raptor.timesten.TTAddin
On a third invocation this error did not appear again (the logging page was still open, but empty).

Well, I (still) can't find any of those "Quite some threads" :-)
    Anyway.

  • Bug - unable to create new connections on SQL Developer 4.0.0.13

Upgraded to SQL Developer 4.0 and we are unable to create new connections in the Connections pane on the left hand side.
Clciking the green plus button and right clicking Connections and 'New Connection' doesn't bring up the New Database Connection dialog box.

    Sounds like an 'install' problem.
Can you extract the zip to a new directory and try again? You did extract v4 to a fresh directory, yes?

  • Systemd 216: pam_systemd: Failed to create session: Connection timeout

It appears my systemd (v216 as of today) user session configuration has gone bad, and no longer works.
I reboot after the most recent set of updates, and my user session (backed by [email protected] and was relying on loginctl enable-linger's to spin up user instance services) has a long delay, from 5-30+ seconds, and then fails and cleans up the session.

This has happened consistently after every boot I have down.  I attempted to re-update to make sure I am current.  I double checked systemd user configuration on the wiki and I seem ok.  It had close to year without an issue.  Double-checked for pacdiff and a few files for different .pacnew files from packages, but none related to systemd or pam as far as I can see.
I also tried searching for others experiencing this exact error, and it appears to be a symptom of different root causes (wonderful).  I found a recentish menion on BBS andand another in a bug, and I am not sure how any can relate to my situation.
I have also tried to get debug output for pam_systemd.so with these two variants in /etc/pam.d/system-login, after finding the man page and to no avail.

So I cannot get those to work.  I am not sure how to turn up the info to debug further and resolve this.  Any help?

  • DBMS_RANDOM and ORA-01436: CONNECT BY loop in user data

    Hi,
The following query gets the error "ORA_01436: CONNECT BY loop in user data":
    SELECT     currentdate
    ,     ADD_MONTHS ( currentdate
                 , (LEVEL - 1) * months
                 ) + ((LEVEL - 1) * days)     AS final_date
    ,     level
    FROM     table_z
    WHERE     CONNECT_BY_ISLEAF = 1
CONNECT BY     currentdate               = PRIOR currentdate
AND          PRIOR dbms_random.value          IS NOT NULL
    AND          ADD_MONTHS ( currentdate
                         , (LEVEL - 2) * months
                         ) + ((LEVEL - 2) * days) <= TO_DATE ( '05/01/2008'
                                                                      , 'MM/DD/YYYY'
);I've seen "PRIOR dbms_random.value IS NOT NULL" used like this as as a way to get around ORA-01436 in Oracle 9, but I'm using Oracle 11, and it doesn't work
    currentdate is unique.
If I hard-code any one set of values, like this:
    DEFINE currentdate      = "TO_DATE ('03/02/2006', 'MM/DD/YYYY')"
    DEFINE days           = 300
    DEFINE months           = 0
    SELECT     &currentdate
    ,     ADD_MONTHS ( &currentdate
                 , (LEVEL - 1) * &months
                 ) + ((LEVEL - 1) * &days)     AS final_date
    FROM     dual
    WHERE     CONNECT_BY_ISLEAF = 1
    CONNECT BY     &currentdate               = PRIOR &currentdate
AND          PRIOR dbms_random.value          IS NOT NULL
    AND          ADD_MONTHS ( &currentdate
                         , (LEVEL - 2) * &months
                         ) + ((LEVEL - 2) * &days) <= TO_DATE ( '05/01/2008'
                                                                       , 'MM/DD/YYYY'
);I can get the correct results from dual. I was looking for a way to extend this to get multiple rows from table_z in the same query.
The problem came up in [this thread|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=894946&tstart=0], where the problem is:
    Given this table:
    CREATE TABLE     table_z
    (      currentdate     DATE
    ,      months          NUMBER
    ,      days          NUMBER
    INSERT INTO table_z (currentdate, months, days) VALUES (TO_DATE ('03/02/2006', 'MM/DD/YYYY'),     0,     300);
    INSERT INTO table_z (currentdate, months, days) VALUES (TO_DATE ('04/05/2006', 'MM/DD/YYYY'),     10,     0);
INSERT INTO table_z (currentdate, months, days) VALUES (TO_DATE ('05/04/2006', 'MM/DD/YYYY'),     3,     0);I'm trying to add the given number of months and/or days to currentdate until I reach a given hard-coded cutoff date (05/01/2008 in this case).
That is, the desired results from the data above are:
    CURRENTDAT     MONTHS       DAYS FINALDATE
    03/02/2006          0        300 08/18/2008
    04/05/2006         10          0 10/05/2008
    05/04/2006          3          0 05/04/2008Edited by: Frank Kulash on May 4, 2009 7:38 PM
Typo in CONNECT BY conditions fixed.

    Hi Frank,
Sounds like a bug. Funny enough, but this works:
    SQL> select * from v$version where rownum = 1
      2  /
    BANNER
Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - Prod
    SQL> SELECT currentdate
      2  , ADD_MONTHS ( currentdate
      3       , (LEVEL - 1) * months
      4       ) + ((LEVEL - 1) * days) AS final_date
      5  , level
      6  FROM table_z
      7  WHERE CONNECT_BY_ISLEAF = 1
8  CONNECT BY currentdate   = PRIOR currentdate
9  AND  PRIOR dbms_random.value  IS NOT NULL
    10  AND  ADD_MONTHS ( currentdate

  • 11g 64-bit unable to create ODBC connection

    Hello,
I am currently facing issue related to ODBC connection. Details of configuration is as follows
    OS: Vista 64 Home Premium
Oracle DB 11g 64bit: ver 11.1.0.6.0,plus the addition of the fix for bug 7389110 (as per release notes)
    ODBC driver location: C:\app\oracle\product\11.1.0\db1\BIN\sqora32.dll
It appears and works well from 32 bit ODBC connection manager. However, it's not visible/available from 64 bit ODBC connection manager. Oracle installation repository appears under 64 bit area ("Program Files") and not under "Program Files (x86)". Assuming it might be a problem with installation I have also tried copying registry entries under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ODBC with no luck.
Any help to create ODBC connection is much appreciated
    Thanks,
    Hemant
Please do not respond to this question here. I am moving it to ODBC forum area

  • Error : CONNECT BY loop in user data

Getting CONNECT BY loop in user data:
Table X  (sample data actually have 35K rows)
CODE             CASE              OLD_ID                NEW_ID            PERSON       AUTH
    01              ab122         1234               0001             AU123     99393
    07              vv353          7872               0919             FV982     78282
    01              ab122         1982               9929             AU123     99393
    04               hjsss         8839                8302            JK920     32320
    01              ab122         0001               1982             AU123     99393
    05              cg899         6728               32322           IKL020     65252
    07              w353          0919                8282             FV982     78282
now I need to order this data comparing row values of old_id to new_id for each of the combinations of code, person, case
    need output like below
    Table X
CODE             CASE              OLD_ID                NEW_ID            PERSON       AUTH
    01              ab122         1234               0001             AU123     99393
    01              ab122         0001               1982             AU123     99393
    01              ab122         1982               9929             AU123     99393
    04               hjsss         8839                8302            JK920     32320
    05              cg899         6728              32322           IKL020     65252
    07              vv353          7872               0919             FV982     78282
    07              w353          0919                8282            FV982     78282
to get this I am using:
    --Query--
    select * from table_x
    start with old_id not in(
                                      select new_id
                                      from table_x
    CONNECT BY old_id = PRIOR new_id
           AND   code   = PRIOR code
           AND   case   = PRIOR case
           AND   person = PRIOR person
    --Query--
runs fine with sample data but the problem is when excute it with actual table that has 35K records..
Cause: The condition specified in a CONNECT BY clause caused a loop in the query, where the next record to be selected is a descendent of itself. When this happens, there can be no end to the query.
Action: Check the CONNECT BY clause and remove the circular reference.
    Thanks,
    AK

    Hi,
CONNECT_BY_ISCYCLE is a pseudo-column that you can use in a CONNECT BY NOCYCLE query.  It's separate from the CONNECT BY clause.
    Try this:
    select  code, "CASE", person
    ,       SYS_CONNECT_BY_PATH (old_id, '/') AS path
    from    table_x
    where   CONNECT_BY_ISCYCLE = 1
start with  old_id not in (
                                      select new_id
                                      from table_x
    CONNECT BY NOCYCLE old_id = PRIOR new_id
            AND        code   = PRIOR code
            AND        "CASE" = PRIOR "CASE"
            AND        person = PRIOR person
I hope this answers your question.
If not, post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevant columns only), and also post the results you want from that data.
Explain, using specific examples, how you get those results from that data.
Always say which version of Oracle you're using (e.g., 11.2.0.2.0).

  • Bug: Navigation: Save As Dialog Boxes in Windows (thus any application) goes to Computer Drive C - instead of Quick Access

Bug: Navigation: Save As Dialog Boxes in Windows (thus any application) still have its legacy behavior implemented and navigates to a computer drive, by preselecting and letting the user start at Computer > Drive C - instead of Quick Access.
This is simply a forgotten correction after Quick Access has been introduced that needs to be corrected for Quick Access to work effectively (in a valuable way for the user) with files not just during create and modify operations on files - but also Open
file - using File Dialog Boxes (although users may use launch instead for Opening files using i.e. Explorer or navigation from shortcuts on the desktop).
This missing change of File Dialog Box behavior is unintended and now contradicts the new design with Quick Access for faster navigation (so you should not have to start with a scroll and extra navigation to look for Quick Access (contradiction:
    i.e. QUICK Access)
Please support the new navigation provided by Quick Access intended to give Quick Access - thus Save As must be able to start here.
For variability, may be provide an overriding option in Explorer>Folder Options>General (if you change the default behaviour in the File Dialogue) to have Save As start at Computer > Drive C.
! Remember to do the change for the Common File Dialog as well - used by most widespread software applications in the Adobe software applications portfolio, i.e. Adobe Photoshop CS6

Thank you for your time and response! Unfortunately, we have the machine locked down pretty tight (they are public use computers that require heavy restriction) and it is set to restrict all drives so access is limited to the local profile. We did try
testing your method, however, by adding the Desktop as an allowed location in the Office policy (which would not solve the issue for the other applications but was good for a test) using the path %userprofile%\desktop. When choosing that location, it does
not throw the error but unfortunately, it does not remember like it did for your with the E: drive so it still always throws the error when first loading the dialogue box no matter what I do. If you're able to confirm that this is simply by design and we're
just expected to inform our users to click through the errors, then I guess that's the accepted answer. Although, do you think that there might be a registry key value that is set after you save to the E: drive for the first time? Maybe we could set that value
to %userprofile%\desktop if it's doing the redirection after the first save through registry. Thanks again!

  • How to bypass "ORA-01436: CONNECT BY loop in user data" ?

    Hello everybody
I have a problem with a ORA-01436 firing too early on a query I'm trying to execute.
There is a table of strings. Each string on that table should be composed of a single character or it must be obtained by the concatenation of a single character on another string in the table.
Sometime this requirement is missing. I can't do anything to drive the table to be in that way. So I would like to execute a query witch corrects that table by adding the missing strings in it. When there are some strings that can't be obtained by appending a single char from another string the the query should list also the missing chain of strings to make that string valid in the table.
    An example.
    create table strings (
         val varchar2(10) not null
insert into strings (val) values ('A')
insert into strings (val) values ('ABCDE')
insert into strings (val) values ('AD')
insert into strings (val) values ('ADF')
    select *
    from strings
    order by val
    Query finished, retrieving results...
        VAL
    A
    ABCDE
    AD
    ADF
4 row(s) retrievedAs you can see the bold string ABCDE is not valid because it can't be obtained by
appending a single char to any other string in the table.
In this case a valid result should also list the chain of strings 'AB', 'ABC' and 'ABCD'.
To find the strings where a chain of missing strings begins and finishes I use this query.
    Processing ...
    select val,p_val
    from (
select val, lag(val) over (order by val) as p_val
         from strings
    ) a
WHERE val not like p_val||'_' and val like p_val||'%' AND p_val IS NOT NULL
    Query finished, retrieving results...
        VAL       P_VAL
    ABCDE      A
1 row(s) retrievedIn this simple case a can list the missing strings with this query.
    Processing ...
    select val,p_val,p_val||SUBSTR(val,LENGTH(p_val)+1,LEVEL) as chain_string,LEVEL
    FROM (
    select val,p_val
    from (
select val, lag(val) over (order by val) as p_val
         from strings
    ) a
WHERE val not like p_val||'_' and val like p_val||'%' AND p_val IS NOT NULL
    CONNECT BY LENGTH(val)>LENGTH(p_val)+LEVEL
    Query finished, retrieving results...
        VAL       P_VAL       CHAIN_STRING                      LEVEL
    ABCDE      A          AB                                                        1
    ABCDE      A          ABC                                                       2
    ABCDE      A          ABCD                                                      3
3 row(s) retrievedBut when I have more than one string to be validated things change and the hierarchical query is not good any more in this way.
insert into strings (val) values ('ADFGH')
    Processing ...
    select *
    from strings
    order by val
    Query finished, retrieving results...
        VAL
    A
    ABCDE
    AD
    ADF
    ADFGH
5 row(s) retrievedBecause I retrieve solutions regarding the one string mixed with all the others
    Processing ...
    select val,p_val,p_val||SUBSTR(val,LENGTH(p_val)+1,LEVEL) as chain_string,LEVEL
    FROM (
    select val,p_val
    from (
select val, lag(val) over (order by val) as p_val
         from strings
    ) a
WHERE val not like p_val||'_' and val like p_val||'%' AND p_val IS NOT NULL
    CONNECT BY LENGTH(val)>LENGTH(p_val)+LEVEL
    Query finished, retrieving results...
        VAL       P_VAL       CHAIN_STRING                      LEVEL
    ABCDE      A          AB                                                        1
    ABCDE      A          ABC                                                       2
    ABCDE      A          ABCD                                                      3
    ADFGH      ADF        ADFG                                                      1
    ABCDE A ABC 2
    ABCDE A ABCD 3
6 row(s) retrievedTo avoid this I should add a condition to link val to prior val in the connect by clause but here it throws ORA-01436.
    Processing ...
    select val,p_val,p_val||SUBSTR(val,LENGTH(p_val)+1,LEVEL) as chain_string,LEVEL
    FROM (
    select val,p_val
    from (
select val, lag(val) over (order by val) as p_val
         from strings
    ) a
WHERE val not like p_val||'_' and val like p_val||'%' AND p_val IS NOT NULL
CONNECT BY LENGTH(val)>LENGTH(p_val)+LEVEL AND val = PRIOR val
    select val,p_val,p_val||SUBSTR(val,LENGTH(p_val)+1,LEVEL) as chain_string,LEVEL
ORA-01436: CONNECT BY loop in user dataWhat could I do to bypass that check?
I know I could query for distinct values on the first query (the one without the condition val = PRIOR val ) but I'd like to know if you had similar problems and how did you solved them in this case.
    Thanks
    Bye Alessandro

    Hi friends,

order by papf.person_idWhere i went wrong, could understand the cause.
    Thanks
    Regards,
    Vel

    Hi, Vel,
ORA-01436 occurs when a row is its own descendant. This is usually caused by bad data; you may not have done anything wrong.
If you say CONNECT BY NOCYCLE (instead of just CONNECT BY) then the error will not be raised, but that doesn't mean the problem is fixed. If you do have bad data in your tables, you need to track that down and fix it.
This might help you find the rows that are causing the problem:
    WITH  problem_children     AS
         select  distinct papf.person_id --, papf.full_name "Employee Name", supf.full_name "Manager Name", paaf.supervisor_id, level
         from per_all_people_f papf, per_all_people_f supf, per_all_assignments_f paaf
         where papf.person_id = paaf.person_id and nvl(paaf.supervisor_id, papf.person_id) =  supf.person_id and
         trunc(sysdate) between paaf.effective_start_date and PAAF.effective_end_date and

  • ORA-01436 : CONNECT BY loop  - is sequence of keys important?

    Hi everyone
I'm seeing an ORA-01436 error - CONNECT BY loop in user data - when I'm running the query below:
    select distinct(pose.organization_id_child)
    from per_org_structure_elements pose
    where pose.org_structure_version_id =
    (select posv.org_structure_version_id
    from per_org_structure_versions posv
    where trunc(sysdate) between posv.date_from and nvl(posv.date_to,'31-DEC-4712'))
    start with pose.organization_id_parent = xxx
    connect by prior pose.organization_id_child = pose.organization_id_parent;
(I'm connecting to a Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.8.0 database by the way)
This error doesn't always crop up - if I change the organization_id_parent value in the start with section of the query above, I find that it only happens for certain organization_ids. However, for the organization_ids where it does happen, upon examining the data for both parent and child rows, I can't understand why a CONNECT BY loop might be happening.
For example, the two rows below cause issues whenever I try to use their organization_id_parent in the query:
Senior Store Manager level (second from bottom):
    ORG_STRUCTURE_ELEMENT_ID     34305
    BUSINESS_GROUP_ID     1
    ORGANIZATION_ID_PARENT     667
    ORG_STRUCTURE_VERSION_ID     224
    ORGANIZATION_ID_CHILD     571
    Store level (bottom level):
    ORG_STRUCTURE_ELEMENT_ID     34304
    BUSINESS_GROUP_ID     1
    ORGANIZATION_ID_PARENT      571
    ORG_STRUCTURE_VERSION_ID     224
    ORGANIZATION_ID_CHILD     570
As you can see, the org_id_parent value at the bottom level is greater than the actual org_id_child value at that same level. Could this be what is causing the ORA-01436 error? It's the only thing that's come to mind so far!
Any help would be gratefully received.
    Thanks, Geoff

Thanks for that Frank, that's cleared it up a bit! I'm still a bit mystified as to the results I'm getting when I switch the statements but at least that sheds some light on it.
In response to your query as to why my original query has a DISTINCT in it, the answer is that if you're sitting near the top of the hierarchy, you could have a whole heap of zones and regions reporting to you, each of which has their own sets of stores. Without the DISTINCT, you could have the same org id for a region or a zone returned multiple times depending on how many stores they have reporting to them.I'm not sure I agree with you 100% on your police work there.
In a well-formed tree (where each node has, at most, one parent), if the START WITH clause only includes unrelated nodes, then no node will appear more than once.
For example, consider the basic CONNECT BY query from scott.emp:
    SELECT     LPAD ( ' '
              , 2 * (LEVEL - 1)
              ) || ename         AS indented_name
    ,     LEVEL
    ,     empno
    ,     mgr
    FROM     scott.emp
    START WITH     mgr     IS NULL
CONNECT BY     mgr     = PRIOR empno
    ;Output:
    INDENTED_NAME             LEVEL      EMPNO        MGR
    KING                          1       7839
      JONES                       2       7566       7839
        SCOTT                     3       7788       7566
          ADAMS                   4       7876       7788
        FORD                      3       7902       7566
          SMITH                   4       7369       7902
      BLAKE                       2       7698       7839
        ALLEN                     3       7499       7698
        WARD                      3       7521       7698
        MARTIN                    3       7654       7698
        TURNER                    3       7844       7698
        JAMES                     3       7900       7698
      CLARK                       2       7782       7839
        MILLER                    3       7934       7782
14 rows selected. Here KING has 3 children, who in turn have between 1 and 5 children each, and some of them have children of their own, but every one of the 14 rows in the table appears exactly once, without using SELECT DISTINCT.
The scott.emp table has a very clean design. If you have to do more complicated queries (e.g. SELECT DISTINCT), then I suspect your table design is not as clean. Without knowing exactly what it is, there's a limit on how much I can help you.
One question that's always bugged me with this issue is whether the PRIOR operator expects the parent id for a child record to be numerically inferior to the child id e.g. if parent id is 561, then any child ids in the hierarchy should be 562 or greater? This doesn't appear to be the case with our hierarchy, but that doesn't explain why these errors are occurring if that is the case. No, the ids used can be completely arbitrary.
Look at scott.emp, above, where the relationships are indicated by empno. Sometimes a boss has a higher empno than an underling (KING is 7839, JONES is 7566); somethimes it's the other way around (JONES is 7566, SCOTT is 7788).
