Bug: E52/E55 SIP registration keeps WiFi on

On an E55 with firmware 022.009:
When you edit the SIP settings > Registration, and choose "On in home network" (which I think is supposed to be only "Only in home network" it doesn't save the setting and reverts to "When needed".
When it's in "When needed mode" it won't only connect when needed, but it will automatically and relentlessly connect, and continuously reconnect to the Internet all the time to register the SIP service.
You have to manually disconnect the SIP (either through the Contact menu or through Active Standby) after each call. If you don't manually disconnect it, WiFi will be turned on all the time, and it will eat up battery.

Hi there,
I have similar problem.
I also found that when I define a SIP profile, it works just for the first time that it registers. Once I disconnect it, and then connect it again, then while I call through "intenet call", it does noat dial.
Any suggestion?

  • SIP Registration is blocked by BT or Home Hub

    Hi all,
I have a problem, between 7.02PM and 11.02PM my SIP Softphone looses registration - every night. I have isolated the issue to my BT Infinity connection as when I close my WIFI and use 3G the SIP telephone registers sucessfully.
I 'think' it's either my Home Hub 3 or BT themselves blocking SIP Registration
    Anyone seen this before?
    Regards
    Matt

Is your SIP telephone connected by a cable, or does it use WiFi?
If it uses WiFi, then you may be getting wireless interference, and you would need to select a different wireless channel.

  • SIP Registration Request not reaching provider

I have a home lab setup and recently decided to add PSTN access via a SIP trunk and termination. I got the applicable information from the provider, set up the IOS configuration, but I'm not registering. I checked the CCSIP messages logs, no response. I talked to the provider, they are not getting my messages at all. Other traffic to and from the internet passes just fine (including SSL VPN).
I've talked to my ISP many times, and they continually insist they do not block any traffic except port 25.
    Here is the applicable configuration:
     sip
      bind control source-interface Vlan1
      bind media source-interface Vlan1
      session transport tcp
      header-passing
      no call service stop

authentication username XXXXXXXXXXX password 7 XXXXXXXXXXXX

Nevermind; I downloaded a SIP phone app for my smart phone, got it to connect in the same network. After that, I put the gateway in a DMZ and it started working. Not entirely sure why it was required, but hey, it works!

  • State of No Authentication in Asterisk SIP Registr...

I have been trying lots of combinations and permutations of registration entries in Asterisk's SIP.conf file.   I would be grateful if someone would let me know exactly what userid and password I need to include
The bulk of instructions I have been reading over the past half a day indicate that this form is correct.
    register => [edited for privacy]
where bmdemo3 is the userid and REDACTED is the password for the Skype user I created under Skype Manager to represent Asterisk to Skype's SIP trunk.
In the output to the sip show registry command for Asterisk, there is one entry that suggests a registration for sip.skype.com:5060, however the column to the far right (entitled) State says "No Authentication".   That does not seem good.
The aforementioned userid and password log me in to that skype user's account (which I activated) and I can make and receive direct Skype calls using it.   Is there another userid and password I should be using instead?
I would greatly appreciate any guidance as to what I might be doing wrong.
    Cheers,

  • Is it possible to turn off the USB hotspot and keep WIFI and BT only on?

I use WiFi or BT tethering almost every day.
When I arrive at home, I plug the phone in the dock to charge/sync but the phone automaticaly turns on the hotspot option.
Turning on/off the hotspot option every day is a pain.
Is there a way to shut down the USB tethering and keep WIFI and BT tethering only ?

  • MXP's and SIP Registration Failure Using a FQDN

A majority of our MXP's will not register to our SIP Server using a FQDN. They will register using the SIP Server IP Address. Why do they not like the FQDN? Our C Series, EX, and SX systems do not have this problem.

yes to both questions. some of the MXP's show that they are registered with the FQDN, but that the Active SIP Server Address is the FQDN. I was expecting to see the IP Address of the VCS it is registered to.The majority just won't register with the FQDN, but do with an IP Address.
All of our other non-MXP endpoints register just fine using the FQDN.
The same FQDN is used for Gatekeeper and SIP registration. The MXP's register to the gatekeeper as expected. It is just the SIP Registration.
The majority are running F9.3.3. Some others are running anywhere from F9.02 to F9.3.1, but all software releases are affected the same way.

Help is here to resolve this issue with your wifi connection 88DaveS. Lets try disabling your "Smart Network Switch". Select Settings> Wifi. The 'smart network switch' is in the advanced settings. Locate the Menu icon in the upper right hand corner > Tap Menu > Tap Advanced > Locate and ensure the check box is Unchecked next to Smart network switch. Let us know if this helps.

  • N8; How to set up SIP and make (WiFI & 3G)VOIP cal...

N8 only comes with SIP software and you need to download the the VoIP setting software at this link (use VoIP 3.1):
    http://www.forum.nokia.com/info/sw.nokia.com/id/d476061e-90ca-42e9-b3ea-1a852f3808ec/SIP_VoIP_Settin...
You can use the N8 web browser and load directly from the site to the phone.
    then go to:
    Menu>settings>connectivity>Admin.Settings>SIP settings
    option>New SIP Profile>use default profile.
This window needs to be configured with your VoIP provider setting which may be found on their site or just do a search. I used the settings from my previous phone. I have Gizmo VoIP and will be using the setting for this service as an example to set up Wifi and 3G SIP setting
Profile Name> Gizmo, (assign the name of your provider e.g.. Gizmo, Google talk, etc)
    Service profile> IETF
    Default Destination> WiFi
Public username: sip:[email protected] (Input your VoIP provider info)
    Use compression> No
    Registration> When needed
    Use security> No
    Then goto Proxy server:
Proxy server address> siproxy01.sipphone.com (use your provider proxy address setting)
Realm> proxy01.sipphone.com (use your provider setting)
    Username> (use your username)
    Password> (enter your password0
    Allow loose routing> Yes
    Transport type> UDP
    Port> 5060
Go back and then go to Registrar server:
Registrar server address> siproxy01.sipphone.com (use your provider Registrar setting)
Real> proxy01.sipphone.com (use your provider setting)
    Username> (use your username)
    Password> (enter password)
    Transport type> UDP
    Port> 5060
Again folks above is just an example. You must use your provider settings.
Then when you are done go back to:
Admin setting> Net setting>Advance VoIP setting>Create new service> choose the SIP profile shown, e.g.  Gizmo
This will configure the VoIP setting with the particular SIP profile. It will also add a SIP Tel profile Pane in your Contacts folder, Internet call option to the contacts list and Phone log.
Now go to the SIP pane in Contacts folder, sign in and then make a test call . To make a SIP call just go to a contact and choose Internet call. If you configured everything correctly, it should work and you are done.
For 3G connection, follow above direction and create new SIP profile with new name (e.g. Gizmo (3G). All settings are same except:
    Default destination>Internet
Then set up the VoIP setting with the new SIP profile by going to:
Admin setting>Net setting>Advance VoIP settings>Create new service> Choose the SIP profile you just configured e.g. Gizmo (3G)
    Then:
    Admin setting>Net setting>Advance VoIP settings>VoIP service>choose the 3G SIP profile, e.g. Gizmo (3G)>Profile setting>>>>>
Go down to AWCDMA> set it to "on"
Exit out of everything. Go to SIP (3G) pane in the Contacts folder. Sign in and make test call.
I have configured many Mobile phones and found the N8 somewhat touchy. But, the sound quality on Gizmo VoIP using both WiFi and 3G was great, no echo or any problems.
    Useful hints:
If it does not connect or make a call, you need to check the SIP setting for any error. If you find any problem there, you must first remove the SIP profile in the Net setting. Then go to the SIP setting and correct the problem. Double check everyting, go back to Net setting>Advance VoIP setting>Create new service and add the SIP profile. The reason is that when you Configure a VoIP setting with a SIP profile, the SIP info is permanently loaded and will not change even if you make any change in the SIP profile. So any time you change anything in the SIP profile (even the password) you always need to remove, make correction and then reload the corrected SIP profile to the VoIP setting.
There are also few Mobile service providers who have blocked VoIP on their data network service. So, just check with your service provider. In US both AT&T and TMobile have open network for VoIP.

    Hi

I have tried to set up VOIP but still facing a problem or 2 so please assist me.
I have an active account via VoipCheap.com with a profile name and password and it is verified.
1/ When I look in Admin Settings / Sip Settings it shows VoipCheap with "not registered" under it..why?
My settings when I click on VoipCheap are:
    profile name: VoipCheap
    Service profile: IETF
    Default destination: Internet
    Public username: sip:[email protected]
    Use compression: No
    Registration: When needed

    Realm: VoipCheap.com
    Username: [email protected]
Password:  ****** (I have entered my password)
    Allow loose routing: Yes
    Transport type: UDP
    Port: 5060
Registrar server settings same as Proxy server settings.
I have also gone to Net settings / VoipCheap settings and see:
    Username:  sip:[email protected]
Password: ***** (I have entered my password)
    Default service: No
    Service connectivity: Internet
In Contacts I have a VoipCheap tab with the icon for internet calling and it says
    Sign in (example)
but when I click on this it shows connecting (via my internet connection) but hangs there - it does not seem to connect............
what do you think I am doing wrong, please ????????????????

  • Linksys SPA9000 and SIP registration with an E61

HI, I have my own IP telephony but I want to register my phone to be used with my Linksys SPA9000, anybody has the setup to do this with an E61?

Unfortunately my Nokia, an N95, can't register with the SPA9000 either. I managed to 'partially' register the phone. The phone registered itself an i saw it in the pbx status page.
(http:// - ip-adres of SPA9000 - /admin/status). The phone itself keeps notifying that it couldn't establish a connection and won't connect to the PBX.
What did the trick is realising that the PBX proxy listens to port 6060. So i added that port in the phone for the proxy and registrar. I know it's a part of the solution and i am working on it.
    My plan
    - setting up a syslog service on my linux server and search the logs for error mesages during the registration proces
    - upgrading my firmware. The SPA9000 is up-to-date, but my N95 doesn't have the latest version yet. So i want to check the release notes from Nokia for information about solved SIP errors.
    - checking the forums for tips
    - ask Nokia for help

  • I am having trouble keeping wifi connection on my ipad2 and iPhone 5. AT

I Am having trouble keeping my wifi connection on iPhone 5 but especially ipad2. Have had IPad checked out and is fine. At
&T has changed the router 3 times but no help.  Will a different router other than AT&T solve this problem and if so, which one.

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at

    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • N95 v21.0.016 bug(?) in SIP phone

This one had me stumped for a while...
My N95 is hooked up to my own Asterisk server and, as such, rings whenever someone calls me by VoIP or on any of the DID numbers I have attached to my VoIP account. It's logged in as extension 2002 on my server whose local IP address is 192.168.2.104.
Or at least it should ring. Sometimes it did, sometimes it didn't (past tense because I've figured out a workaround).
I finally managed to narrow it down to the fact that it didn't like accepting anonymous calls. Indeed, if I followed my Asterisk logs when receiving an a call with no caller ID, I'd see this, and obviously the phone wouldn't ring:
    -- SIP/2002-081f4358 is circuit-busy
[May 8 14:27:03] WARNING[3697]: chan_sip.c:12741 handle_response: Remote host can't match request BYE to call '[email protected]'. Giving up.
I've managed to work around the problem by adding this to my dialplan in extensions.conf:
    exten => _X.,n,Set(CID=${CALLERID(NUM)})
    exten => _X.,n,GotoIf($[ "x${CID}" = "x0" ]?change-it)
    exten => _X.,n,GotoIf($[ "x${CID}" = "x" ]?change-it)
    exten => _X.,n,Goto(call-extn)
    exten => _X.,n(change-it),Set(CALLERID(ALL)=Anonymous Coward <2999> )
    exten => _X.,n(call-extn),Dial(SIP/2000&SIP/2001&SIP/2002,15,tT)
While this works, ie. the phone now rings for anonymous calls, is this not a bug in that it should accept them anyway (as it does for GSM calls) and just display "private number calling" or something similar?
FWIW, I didn't have to do this on firmware v12.0.014, so this is a bit of a regression.

Thanks, but I've not had the N95 for more than a year now.
