BUG: F3 (find next) is disabled?

I'm really not sure whats going on but it seems like recently my F3 button stopped working for Find Next, really annoying... but I thought maybe the shortcut key was changed or something like that so I goto the "Search" mainmenu item and its listed there Find Next with a shortcut of F3, but its disabled!? So anyone know why or how Find next could be disabled on this menu? With the inline search if you press the down and up arrows it seems to work just fine, but F3 doesn't work no matter whats in focus.
Thanks!

Yes I have tried many things... only user error that I could see is if I some how messed up some setting for it, but I don't see a setting for it... I have closed jdeveloper and reopened it multiple times with no luck, also about the same time I was having some weird problem where some of my keys werent working, like my arrow keys... they were however working in other programs and I also tested the F3 key. That time I was able to restart jdeveloper and everything was fine.

  • Find Next command doesn't work right in CS3?

The Find Next command (F3 in Windows) used to go immediately
to the next instance of a search term. What was great was that I
could search for a term on one page, close it, then open a
different page and immediately press F3. But now, the command keeps
bringing up a "Find and Replace" dialog (that has no Replace box,
which is also odd) instead of going immediately to the next
instance of the search term. This dialog already has the correct
search term in it, so it isn't like I'm trying to find an empty
    string.
Is this a bug, or am I losing it?

I am running OS X 10.8.2 (supplemental) and Preview v6.01.
I can search for a particular string in a PDF. It will highlight all occurrences in yellow. Then, whether from the Find menu > Find Next, or by using Command+G from within Preview, it will quickly step to the next occurrence of the Find target. Just tested this on my machine, and it works fine. Nothing special set to make this work.
Unaware of any setting to disable search as you type feature.
If there is a com.apple.Preview.plist file in your home directory/Library/Preferences, you might try dragging it to the Trash and emptying it.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you boot, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

  • "Find Next" feature doesn't work in preview.

The only way I've been able to search for text in preview is searching the whole document. This doesn't work too well when the pdf is an 1100 page text book. When selecting "Find Next" from the drop down menu I get no response at all. Also, is there any way to turn off the "seach as you type" feature? Please help, this is my only hang up with using Preview.
Unfortunately using adobe reader solves the problem, but I really do loathe the clunky interface and choppy scrolling.

  • Why does "Find Next" in AW 6.2.9 stop working?

    Hi,
I've been using ClarisWorks 4.0v6 database for many years (OS 7.6.1).
    I migrated them to AppleWorks 6.2.9 (OS 10.4.11, G4).
    They're ordinary postal mailing lists.
However, *within 5 minutes to 2 hours, the "Find Next" function stops responding.*
Sometimes the vertical ribbon bar also greys.
When I Save As in ASCII, the vertical ribbon bar is grey, so that I can't scroll through the document and inspect it in that format.
I never lose data, don't crash, and Disk Utility has never shown a problem, but have to quit AW to restore basic functionality.
    It's maddening!
It also happens when I open the AW database as v6.2.8 in Classic Mode.
I have unchecked the Recent Items, as previous posts have recommended.
I regularly trash the Starting Points/Recent Items and other folders, as recommended.
The G4 is otherwise completely stable in all applications.
I'm on the verge of going back to OS 7 just for database work.
Any help will be gratefully appreciated!
    Bob

It's clear that something is corrupted in your system.
The described functions behaves flawlessly here on my machines since year 200 year of first delivery of AppleWorks 6.
Try to run the program from an other user account.
If it behave well you will know that the culprit is in your original user account.
If it doesn't you will know that the culprit is in the shared ppart of the system.
Knowing that, you will be able to search the culprit amoung thousands of files.
Uncheck the Recent Items box is perfectly useless because given an old bug AppleWorks doesn't take care of its status and always generate these aliases.

  • Possible to code a Find/Find Next feature for use inside a Table Control

    Hello,
I have a Table Control that displays many lines.  Is it possible to code a Find/Find Next feature that would allow the user to enter a 'keyword' then search each line of the Table Control for existing matches?
I have provided the user with various Selection Criteria that will filter the table control results, but there are still too many lines to visually scan for the desired result.
I am guessing that I would place an input box and a 'Find' button onto my layout screen. Then in user command, I have to scroll through each line of the table control and check every value to see if the string contains 'keyword' When found, stop  and display table control assigning current line as Top line?
Am I on the right track or is there a better solution already?
    Kind Regards,
    MPersson

I've done that. It works pretty well. You might want to allow the user to search only in selected column(s) as well.

  • Find/Find Next Behavior in ALV in container in ABAP OO

I have an ALV grid in a custom container that's sized for a screen on a high-resolution tube.  In other words, there's a scrollbar on the ALV but none on the screen itself (because the whole screen is visible at the high resolution.)
At this high resolution, a find or find next will correctly scroll the ALV to the row in which an item is found (when the "found" row is below the currently visible row of the ALV.)
But when I switch to a lower resolution where I have a scroll bar on the ALV and on the window itself, a find or find next does not scroll the ALV properly.  You have to manually scroll to find the found row.
Yes - I have both resizings checked on the container.
Is there a way I can:
    1) find the resolution the user is in?
    2) modify the screen size to fit this resolution?
    3) modify the container size to fit this resolution?
    Thanks
    djh

    Calgar -
This is the same thing that Thomas (Jung) suggested in an old ABAP General thread.
But I've done it, and it doesn't work.
Also, I don't understand why I'm getting a scroll bar for the ALV as well as for the screen.
I thought if I did what you and Thomas said, I would only see the scroll bar for the screen and not the ALV.
    Any other ideas ????
    Thanks

  • 30EA3: F3 (find next) not working in PL/SQL editor

F3 (find next) appears not to be working in PL/SQL editor - works in worksheet, though.

I am on Win7Pro(32bits). F3 works with 2.1, worked with 3EA2. On 3EA3, even though it showed in "shortcut keys", I still had to "override" it (in effect, confirm) in the preferences before it worked. Weird...

  • Find Next button is not working in member selection for Smartview V11.1.2.1

    Hello,
    Quite urgent.
When group of users select Smartview --> Member Selection --> "FindNext" or "Find" button is not working.
The same option is working fine with my credentials. But problem exists for set of 3 users.
    Please suggest asap.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Tej

    Hi Iain,
    Thanks for your reply.
    * All 3 users are part of same group.
    * Created user with similar group and checked for member selection option to verify "Find Next" button functionality. It worked fine.
    * Verified filters assigned to this group. No filters are assigned.
    * Checked for version again - Version is V11.1.2.1.00 (Build 271). It is exactly same as other systems where the functionality is working fine.
    * Installation is carried out by company IT team as administrator, so that can not be an issue.
kindly suggest if you have any other inputs to be verified.
    Best Regards,
    Tej

  • HT2506 "Find next"  with a PDF document

I would like to use the "Find next string" of a PDF document with Preview.
When i fill the search window, Preview does the search on the entire document, and shows the first occurence it has found. Thus, making me loose my current reading page.
I just want to do a forward search !
    Thank you

    Use Adobe Reader - http://get.adobe.com/reader/.
Preview is just horrible, to my way of thinking and working, with PDF files.

  • Help about 'Find' and 'Find Next' Buttons...

    Hi Friends!
There's a way to implement the standard functions of the buttons 'Find' and 'Find Next' in a Z Program????
    A function or something else???
    tks in advance!

You need to write the list before calling the FM.
    Like:
    REPORT  ZTEST_NP.
    DO 10 TIMES.
      WRITE: / SY-INDEX.
    ENDDO.
    AT LINE-SELECTION.
    * first write the data ... to make the list active
      DO 10 TIMES.
        WRITE: / SY-INDEX.
      ENDDO.
      CALL FUNCTION 'LIST_SCAN'
        EXCEPTIONS
          NO_LIST_ACTIVE = 1
          OTHERS         = 2.
      IF SY-SUBRC <> 0.
    * MESSAGE ID SY-MSGID TYPE SY-MSGTY NUMBER SY-MSGNO
    *         WITH SY-MSGV1 SY-MSGV2 SY-MSGV3 SY-MSGV4.
      ENDIF.

  • Bug:  My Finder folder has 4 items but Cover Flow is showing 5.

My Finder folder has 4 items but Cover Flow is showing 5.
I can even click on the erroneous item in cover flow, but it doesn't atually exist.
    Mavericks, everything is updated.
Sure, rebooting or restarting Finder might fix it, but this yet another bug with Finder I have found.

    Hello,
Can you count the beeps or flashes?
1 beep = no RAM installed
2 beeps = incompatible RAM types
3 beeps = no good banks
4 beeps = no good boot images in the boot ROM (and/or bad sys config block)
5 beeps = processor is not usable
In addition to the beeps, on some computers the power LED will flash a corresponding number of times plus one. The LED will repeat the sequence after approximately a 5-second pause. The tones are only played once.
Note: In this case, a flash is considered to be 1/4 second or 250 ms or greater in length.

  • C# Find/Find Next functionality on SQL Server CE 3.5 table

    Hi,
Is it possible to implement a Find/Find Next type search on an SQL Server 3.5 table (only 1 column to search)?
    Thanks
    Paul.
    Paul Wainwright

    Hello Paul,
a "Find" is a simple select Statement with a where clause on a column to filter the resultset, like
    SELECT *
    FROM Addresses
    WHERE FirstName = 'Olaf'
In your C# program code you get the result e.g. as a DataReader where you can iterate through all resultset = "Find next".
