Bug-Having trouble sharing content

I'm trying to share a script with others and it is not working. They can only view it in co-author mode and even when they do, they are seeing old scripts that I've already deleted. The current script tells me that it is an "unshared document" and the people I'm sending it to can't even see it is there. I'm I doing something wrong? I went to share, entered their e-mail address, and they signed in. But they still can't view it. Any suggestions?

Thanks for showing such an enthusiastic response. It has been our pleasure to cater to your problems as soon as possible. At AdobeStory we are always striving to make working for our users easy and smooth in every possible way.
So heading towards your problem, following are the steps at the reviewer's end when a script has been shared with him/her:
Within a few moments after the author shares the script , a notification for the same appears in the reviewers new notification box showing his role as Reviewer.
A reviewer then on clicking "Accept" reaches the "ACCEPT SHARED DOCUMENT - ADOBE STORY" which has the following structure:
A "Title" field which holds the name of the script.
Then there are two options with radio buttons along:
"Put in a new Project" and "Put in an existing project" each having a " Project" field below it to hold the name of the project the user wants to place the shared document in. Please keep in mind "Project" is a place holder for scripts. So what you share is a script not a project. A project can never be shared. You share a script which can be then placed in a new/existing project.
A user when for the first time accesses his/her account there is always a "default" project in his/her account. So, as you mentioned you tried placing the script in an existing project and it showed no option, it can happen only in the case if you have deleted all the projects which are shown in the left panel in the Projects View. Only in that case this "Project" field would be empty. In every other case it would show  names of all the existing projects.
Then there is a checkbox for the option "Open Document when I am done". User can check this option to open the document in Authoring View as soon as the user clicks "Done".
Then there are 2 buttons "Done" and "Cancel". On choosing "Cancel"  this action is cancelled and the notifications stays in the new notifications box to "Accept" or "Decline".
So now the Reviewer chooses one of the options and places the script in an existing/new project.
If the Reviewer chooses to place the script in a new project, he/she types in the name of the desired project in the field below and click "Done". A new project is created which can be seen in the left panel and the script is placed in it.
If the Reviewer chooses to place the script in an existing project then the text field shows name of all existing projects which the user can see in the left panel in the drop down menu.
The user can now successfully access the script in Authoring View, read the script, add comments..
Now the error message which you are talking about "This is a shared document and this operation cannot be excuted on it. Permission denied.", this can occur in 3 cases:
1. If  the Author deletes the shared script permanently (first from the projects by selecting "Delete" from the drop down menu which appears on clicking the twirly along the name of the script and then open the Deleted folder (click on the bin icon on the left corner below) and select "Delete"  from the drop down menu which appears on clicking the twirly along the name of the script) then if the Reviewer already had the shared document in a project then he can no more access the document and on trying to open it the error message appears. If the Reviewer has not accepted the notification yet then on following all the above mentioned steps then first time on trying to open the script in Authoring View (the check box has a tick mark) error message is shown "Failed to download Script". Further trying to open it  shows the error message being discussed.
2.  If the Author unshares the shared script after the co-user has successfully placed the shared script in a project.
To unshare a shared script the author follows the following steps:
Select "Share" from the menu by clicking on the twirly along the name of the script.
The "SHARE DOCUMENT - ADOBE STORY" shows the name of the co-user along with his role and a "bin" icon along.
     Click on that bin icon.
Now if the co-user tries to access the shared script the error message appears. Please note a document can only be unshared once the co-user has successfully placed the shared script in a project.
3. If the Author shares the script more then once and the following occurs:
Now the co-user has more than one notifications for the same script in his new notifications box. The user if accepting all of them, needs to place them in different projects because scripts with same name cannot exist in same project. Now if the co-user deletes one of them from his/her project (by clicking on the twirly along the name of the shared script and choosing "Delete from project"). Now all other instances of same script in other projects become inaccessible and the error message appears. In such a case the Author can see the name of the Reviewer in the "sharing information" column in Projects view as the script has been shared more than once but the sharing information at the Reviewer's end is "-/-/-".
For the last two cases you need to again share the script with the co-user and he/she needs to successfully place it in a project to have an access to it.
If there is some other workflow which you are following then kindly report the same. We would surely try to isolate the problem at our end.
There is a query which I would like you to answer to uniquely isolate the issue: Are you facing this problem while using the browser version or the AIR version of Adobe Story?
For any further queries or assistance please feel free to contact us.

  • Having trouble sharing my folio with a client

I'm having trouble sharing my folios with clients.  I clicked the share button and sent the e-mail to the client.  They received the e-mail and signed up for an adobe account.  When they try to log into Adobe Content Viewer on their iPad using their Adobe credentials they keep getting log in failed notices.  Does anyone know why this is happening?  Thanks.

After they log in and accept the terms they should be able to log into the ACV with that account and download the folio.

Or do I have to deauthorize all 4 and then authorize the two I have now? my desk top pc is operating on vista, and my laptop is operating on 7. Does that make a difference? HELP! thank you.

  • Anyone having trouble sharing large images via email with Aperture 3 and OSX 10.7.2?

I am having trouble sharing images via email with Aperture 3. No matter what size I have in the preferences, the image is thumbnail size. The requested size flashes on the email a couple of times but the small size remains and is sent. I am using OSX 10.7.2. Any suggestions how I may send larger sizes?

I have taught many how to use GUI-based computers.  The number of controls they are aware of on the screen always progresses, usually linearly with the amount of time they spend actively learning the GUI.  Beginners are totally flummoxed that windows can hide other windows.  A step beyond that, they are amazed that they can resize windows using the mouse cursor.  Those two are trivial to most users today, but they illustrate 1. that there is nothing "intuitive" about the GUI, and 2. that the amount one perceives is dependant on the amount one knows. IME, this has nothing to do with age, and everything to do with experience using a GUI.
Here is a good hint:  if you are using a Mac and can't figure out how to do something, look for something to click.    If you find something that seems promising, try "{Option}+clicking".
The interface is richer than any one person can master.  Frank's statement "most times we all fail to see everything " is, imho, _always_ true.  We never see everything, even in the grossly limited resolution of our computer screens.

  • Having trouble with content-aware

I am trying to use content-aware, but am having trouble finding out how to do it, even though I have watched the videos.
When I outline the object that I want to remove and go to Edit>Content-aware, I can't find out how to finish the procedure.
Also, I don't have the same little boxes on the tool bar on the top for that application.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks.

Hmmmm, tried that.  Clicked the marquee tool, outlined the shape that I wanted to remove, Clicked Edit>fill>Content-aware>ok and it worked a little magic, but then took half the image of the person alongside the portion that I wanted to fill and duplicated it.
I tried using the eraser tool, highlighted the image, fill, but it has a greyed-out content-aware.  Can't do it that way.
    Drum roll please.................
If you use the magic wand and fill the part you want to get rid of, click Edit>fill>content-aware.ok, it works.
    Thank you very much Michael.

  • Having trouble sharing music content between users on one notebook computer

I'd like to set my daughters' music content to a shared folder so that they'll both be able to access it without creating duplicates on their limited storage space.  I've tried the following technique on my girls' new Asus nootbook to no avail: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1203  In fact, their iTunes can't seem to accept the new "public" location or any other settings like 'Libray Name:' or 'Copy files to iTunes Media folder...'  After I make the requisite setting changes to either of their user accounts or the Admin account, when I check to see if the changes 'stuck', everything is back to the default setting and locations.  Am I missing something?  I would hope that running Windows 7 starter wouldn't have anything to with it, but you never know.

  • I am suddenly having trouble sharing the screen of my work iMac from my MacbookPro at home and visa versa

Neither appear in the shared section of the Finder of the other. This is despite the fact that both are set up with my AppleID and have screen sharing turned on. To make the situation more interesting I have another computer on my home network, an older mac mini. The home Mac Mini does show up in the finder as shared both at work and on my MacbookPro at home. It is set up in the same way as the other two. I can screen share my mac mini from work or my work iMac from the home Mac mini. I can even share the mac mini from the work imac and then share the macbookpro from the screenshared mac mini! I can also screen share my work imac from the mac mini at home.
I have checked my settings on all 3 computers and they seem to be exactly the same.
The home MacbookPro has OS 10.9.2
The home Mac Mini has OS 10.7.5
    The work iMac has 10.9.2
This has been very frustrating and puzzling. Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks!

  • Having trouble sharing internet connection to ethernet

    Hello,
I am trying to have my internet (wlan0) shared across my ethernet connection.
Is there a package on AUR that can do this?
    Thanks in advance.

Check out this page. Although it explains how to share a internet conection via ethernet, I'm sure you'll be able to do that using wifi as well.

  • Having trouble sharing playlist on network

I'm new to this.  Have two computers on a local network.  My primary iTunes playlist is set up on desktop (running Windows XP).  I have also set up iTunes on the laptop (running Vista).  Read the article on sharing.  I followed the steps, but the sharing is going the wrong way.  The LT library currently contains only 3 songs, that I bought shortly after I got the iPod (touch).  The DT library contains those 3 songs, plus several more I've purchased and uploaded from cds.  I want to share the DT library with the LT.  I turned on home sharing on both computers.  On the DT, I went to Preferences and clicked the box "Share my library on my local network".    This box is NOT checked on the LT.  However, "Shared" doesn NOT appear in the left-hand column on the laptop.  It does appear on the DT, though, which seems backwards to me.  How do I get this to work?  What am I doing wrong??

Thought I could edit my post after the fact, but apparently not.  Update -- I figured it out.  The key seems to be that both computers have to have iTunes up and running.  Although I noticed it's not showing the album art that I added by clicking "get album artwork".  Have to add it again manually, album by album.  I don't have it set to automatically add missing artwork, because what iTunes adds is not always right.
So anyway, I think I'm ok, except for the artwork issue...

  • Having trouble sharing my Espon v 330 scanner

    Dear ASC,
I'd like to share my epson scanner with my others macbook pro (Yosemite) from a imac (Maverick).
I plugged the scanner to my imac on witch it works fine, but when I'm going in the sharing preferences, the name of the scanner doesn't appear, and of course, if I'm trying to use it with Image Transfer from my macbook I can't see it either.
Do you guys have any idea of what's wrong ?
    Thank you in advance
    Regards
    David

OS X does not support Scanner sharing unless the scanner is a network device. If it is connected via USB then you are out of luck.

  • Having Trouble sharing Libraries

If you have any idea how to help please comment. I have opened both my libraries for sharing and I'm not sure where to go from there one computer is directly connected to my other computer and working off it's internet.

I think the mystery has been solved, and it involves a factor not mentioned in my original post: there are TWO users on BOTH computers. It appears that you can connect to only one user's music on a remote computer. And it appears that the user who opens iTunes first on the remote computer is the one that is available.

  • I'm having trouble sharing my final cut pro project on youtube

I worked really hard on a project on Final cut pro, version 10.0.8, and when I was done I shared it on youtube. The first problem was when it started putting a message saying that the operation failed because of an error. I thought it was because my laptop was turned off (sleep). I kept it on, and tried again, and several times and there comes the second problem. It won't move to more than 50%. I cancel it and try again and it instantly starts at 50%, and won't move. it's a 246 MB file btw. I exported it on my desktop but it was a 1.50 GB file, so it would take LOTS of time to upload on youtube. I want to upload it directly on youtube but the loading stays on 50%! I have no idea why this is happening, can someone PLEASE help me? Thank you!
I have a Macbook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

Hard to tell from the description whether it's a FCP or YT issue.
You were able to export to your Desktop, so that's encouraging.
You should be able to get a smaller file by selecting H.264 in the Settings pane of the Master File export dialog. For format, choose Web Hosting. Se if that exports completely and uploads properly.
