Bug in "Announce the time" on half hour
I have the Clock configure to announce the time on the quarter hour (using Trinoids).
Most of the announcements are fine however it regularly announces the half hour as "three" rather than "thirty".
Curiously it happens on almost all, but not on every instance. I've noticed this in 10.5.2 as well which is when I enabled this so not sure about earlier versions.
Oh and I also use 24 hour clock.

All of a sudden, my clock stopped announcing the time
Hello folks,
My clock setting is to announce time every half hour. When I go to settings, customize voice and push "play" for the chosen voice, all I get is silence
iMac sound is at maximum volume and I hear everything: music, tones, Skype, etc., etc. but not the clock announcing
Does anybody has a hint?
Thanks PauloHello evebody,
Maybe somebody will be interested. I solved the problem myself, as I discovered what was affecting my clock announcement was a left over of Conduit Search.
After eliminating it all returned to normal

Why does my mac stutter when announcing the time?
I am completely updated to the latest version of OS X " 10.9.3" on my mid 2012 Macbook pro 15" and i have it set to announce the time on the hour. being said, my Mac, often stutters when trying to announce the time. i just want to know if anyone else is having this problem and if so, is there a fix for it coming in the future?
When was the last time you restarting your Mac...?
Never ever had it happen in Snow Leopard, Lion or Mountain Lion no matter how long my uptime was.
I have had slurred speech a time or two in Mavericks, but only when my uptime was over 30 days. -
IPod Mini continually skips tracks all the time every half a second!
My iPod Mini continually skips tracks all the time every half a second. The only thing that stops it is if you press pause but once you press play off it goes again. This means noi music is able to be played because it's always skipping. The menu button works as does the backlight if you hold the menu button down. The enter button works and the touch pad navigation also works. Both skip buttons have no effect on the unstoppable skipping. Can anybody help or at least verify the problem with other users of simular problems and if they were able to fix them simply, without having to go to an Apple dealer (it's out of warrenty i think)Any help would be appreciated.

My MacBook Pro won't stop announcing the time in Japanese.
It was funny at first but now I want it to stop.
Hey TravisBickle,
Thanks for the question. Let’s check your Date & Time preferences, and disable the “Announce the time” option:
OS X Mavericks: Set date and time options
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14090
1. Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Date & Time.
2. Do any of the following:
- Click Date & Time, then choose to set date and time automatically or manually.
- Click Time Zone, then select your city.
- Click Clock, then make sure that “Show date and time in menu bar” is selected.
If you want to hear the time announced, select “Announce the time,” then choose from the pop-up menu how frequently you want the time announced. If you like, customize the voice.
Thanks,

Can't turn off "Announce the time."
I have a MacBook 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, with 2 GB memory, with 249.2 GB storage of which I've used only 45.69 GB .
I recently uploaded Mavericks (OSX 10.9.4), and now have two problems.
First: I can't turn off "Announce the time." I schedule my MacBook to automatically turn off at certain time and before that I will de-select "Announce the time" but it won't turn off. I've tried doing it multiple times. I've tried to backdoor it via Notifications and ultimately did a "Repair Disk Permissions and verified my disk hoping that would help — to no avail. The only way I can get it to work is if I completely shut down the computer and manually start up. A simple Restart won't do; the computer has to be completely shut down for the setting to work.
This seems to be a Mavericks problem. I've never had this problem before.
Second: When my computer turns on (either manually or automatically) I have it set so the iTunes opens automatically with it. The problem is that even though the screen has iTunes on it Finder is front of it like some kind of invisible film. This prevents me from operating iTunes remotely unless I go and manually click the screen to bring iTunes to the front. How can I get it so iTunes is automatically "in front" when my computer starts up in the morning?Boot into the Recovery Drive by holding down Command R when restarting.
Run Repair Drive and Repair Permissions using Disk Utility in Recovery.
Run Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs following steps described here **
Restart
Download and run the combo updater to refresh your OS X files.
OS X Mavericks 10.9.4 Update (Combo)
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1755
Open System Preferences > Users & Groups
Login Items.
Make sure iTunes is last in the list.
Set the other applications to hide by checking box.

Hi all,
System: OSX 10.8.2 Mountain Lion
Machine: Macbook Pro 13.3" with Retina display
I checked the box saying "Announce the time" in Date and Time Preferences, and it did pretty well after I first checked it.
However, every time after I restart my macbook, it doesn't announce the time any more!
I go to Date and Time Preferences, the box "Announce the time" is still checked, but not working!
(And I am sure my macbook is not in a silent mode and I even increase the volume.)
Why so? Please help.Thank you for replying, @pennbank.
I reset and it worked well as when I checked the option the very first time. However, when I restart the computer, it won't announce the time... I have to uncheck the option and check the option so it will work.
But I am really tired of check and uncheck the option whenever I restart my computer... -
how can I speedup the download time
Are you updating through the phone or through iTunes on a pc/mac?
The time it takes to download the update depends on the speed of the internet connection you are using. -

loosing internet service off and on all day
Check to see if Comcast is reporting an outage for your area by logging in to https://customer.xfinity.com/Secure/MyServices/ or by checking the voice response system at 1-800-Comcast.
If no outage is reported, see Connection Troubleshooting Tips. If you want to troubleshoot this yourself and still need help, please provide Information Requested for Connection-Related Posts.
If you are using Wifi it's best to switch to an Ethernet connection if possible while measuring speed and checking the reliability of your connection to Comcast.
If you'd rather have them do the troubleshooting call them at the phone number on your bill or 1-800-Comcast and have them send a tech out to identify the cause and correct it.
If the tech finds bad coax, splitters, amplifiers, or connections in your home (even if Comcast originally supplied them) you'll probably have to pay for the visit unless you have their Service Protection Plan (http://www.xfinity.com/spp/, about $5/mo). If the trouble is due to a faulty Comcast modem, eMTA, gateway device, or anything outside your home, you shouldn't be charged. -
In calendar program the time in outlook is one hour different from time in iphone appointments
The time for all appointments in my outlook and synced to icloud are one hour different. I was in Mexico which at the time was one hour different from pacific time. How do I keep both times the same.
You might want to go to icloud.com from your computer, sign into your iCloud account, click on your name, then confirm that you have the correct time zone set for iCloud, and that on your phone in Settings>General>Date & Time that you have Set Automatically turned On.

Syncing ical on macbook and iphone the times change by two hours
I set up all of the events on my macbook ical and when i sync with my iphone it changes the time by two hours on my calendar for the iphone. i have checked and both devices are accurate on the day and time. Is there something I am missing. It is a hassle having to change all of the events in my iphone each time i sync...........all help would be appreciated.
Am having exact same problem. Have checked, double-checked and re-checked all time & date settings, time zones, etc. to no avail. iCal on Mac now seems to be responding properly, but many of my events on iPhone will display correctly when opened but +2 hours on list at bottom of month view. There is no way I can figure out to edit time zone on iPhone cal event like there is on the Mac.

I have had my macbook pro announce the time for over a year, and I want it off now, but after I unchecked the "Announce the time option" it continues to forcibly tell me the hour. Please help me silence my mac.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then take one of the actions that you're having trouble with. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
