Bug in editing a video clip when deleting a portion of it

I'm trying to edit out the bad parts of a single video clip. I selected the clip in the event viewer and chose to open it in the timeline. When I cut the clip in two places using the blade, and then delete the portion in the middle using the backspace, it not only takes out the video and audio of the selected bad subclip (good!) but also the audio portion of the next good clip (bad!), but leaving the video of the next clip intact. Am I missing something? Looks to me like an obvious bug.

  • How can I edit a video clip in PE and take it out of PE to use elsewhere?

I want to add edited video clips from PE to use in my photoshop slideshow. I would also like to use the edited clips in another programme, but I only get a file that can only be opened in PE. I have PE 4 and Photoshop 6.on a desktop PC using Vista.

    Many thanks for your reply.
I have video thumbnails from my video camera in My Videos folder. I would like to edit them individualy and return them to my folder as thumbnails again.
I hope I have explained my needs properly. I have made a slideshow including video on photoshop, but I get lost with it on PremE so I have kept to the job on PhotoEl. It seems to work for me apart from the problem of editing the video clips. I have added audio to the slideshow, but when it gets to a video clip I lose the video's sound. I would like to keep that rather than the added audio (music) that plays over the stills.
As you have no doubt realised, I am a beginner and a pensioner. Would senility be an excuse?
    Thanks again,

There is only a limited amount of Compressor instruction available unless you purchase a subscription to something like Lynda.com or a tutorial from Ripple or Larry Jordan.
My advice to everyone who is interested in learning about Compressor is to read the first two chapters of the user manual – on basics and workflows. Those should provide enough of an understanding to cover the majority of things users need Compressor to accomplish. Of course there is plenty more for those who want to explore.
Here is a short write-up from Ken Stone on changing frame rates.

  • Narration does not stay with video clips when editing

I have been working on a large video project in PE7. I just finished adding approximately 100 narrations at various points in various clips. I then inserted a video clip that was missing and all the narrations seems to have shifted and are no longer in sync with the video clips. Any suggestions before and go to the timeline and move each clip?

If you inserted a clip, the timeline is designed to "ripple" or move over to allow for the clip.
If you don't want the timeline to ripple as you add new clips, hold down the Ctrl key as you add your clips.

  • Is importing from a dv tape the only way to edit a video clip?

There has to be a better way of editing my clips. I am importing my video from a dv tape then pausing the clip when I want it to stop. If I dont pause my clip at the exact moment, I have to clear that clip and try it again. I'snt there a way where I can load long clips in the clip pane then edit them down there, then drag the edited clip to my timeline? I am spendind alot of time with this old editing method.

  • Flashing/noisy line at top of video clip when importing

    Hi,
I am running into a strange problem when importing from my video camera. The top scan-line (or two) of the imported video clip is flashing! If anyone knows the reason for this, or has a solution to get rid of this problem altogether, please let me know! (its the first time I've ever tried importing!)
The workaround is to manually crop the top of the video, which I cant really do in imove for free? and would mean having to edit each clip...there goes onestep iDVD
I have a sony tvr310 digital 8 camera and am importing using firewire on my imac.
    g5 imac   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   sony tvr310 digital 8 camera

Analog-to-DV conversion adds narrow black borders to the left & right (and some analog "head switching" noise to the bottom).
If you view the output on a TV, then the overscan will automatically crop the borders out. But if you view the output on a computer monitor, you might want to crop them out. You can do this with MPEG Streamclip ($0):

My TRV320 D8 doesn't have such lines so your problem sounds strange. Have you tried to clean the camcorders heads?

  • H.264 video clipping when embedded in captivate 6.0

I am using captivate 6.1.0.319 and my embedded videos are clipping (not showing the last second or so)
The videos are of a compatible screen size and generated using premiere pro as H.264 mp4 files.
They work fine (although the audio volume is low compared to the other parts of the project - I think this is a known issue?!?) except for this clipping  at the end (of both the audio and video).
The clipping occurs when I play the slide from the timeline, when I play the project, and when I generate the final output media (another mp4 file for upload to YouTube).
The video is on stage and seems to play ok  with no clipping when i bring up the edit video timing dialog!
The video has the same duration indicated on the timeline as the source video file so i cant see that i have deliberately clipped it
Can anybody shed some light on this?

    Hi there,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums.
Could you please elaborate a little more on what exactly you are trying to accomplish?
If you saying that the videos are skipping the last few seconds, please make sure the frame per second of the inserted video and the project are same.
    Thanks!

  • How to retrieve the video clip accidentally deleted on iPad 2

If it is included in an iTunes or iCloud backup you can restore to that. If not, the videos are gone.

  • QuickTime does not automatically open video clips when double clicked

Quicktime does not open video clips in iPhoto when the video clips are double clicked (nothing happens). Quicktime will open the video clip if I open quicktime
and ask it to open the video clip. Regular photos will expand as they should when they are double clicked.

It worked. I don't see why the Protected Mode is enabled in the first place, if it were to cause issues.

  • Can I edit a video clip in imovie?

  • Poor quality (vibration) on video clips when it burns onto DVD

We created 15 mins video on Final Cut Express, saved on Quick Time, and burned onto DVD. Although the video on Quick Time was fine, some of the quality of the video clips on DVD we burned was so poor....It had so much vibration on some of the video clips. We tried on both Best Performance & Best Quality, but they both had poor quality. Do you have any suggestions? Do you think upgrading to I Life 08 will help? Please Help!!!! Thanks!

It had so much vibration on some of the video clips.
Video on a DVD is mpg-2 compressed (which looks at frame to frame differences in compression) and is interlaced.
If you have content with lots of movement - like many hand-held shots - mpg-2 compression and interlacing will act to create lots of 'jumping' or 'vibration'. The only solution is to use a tripod and avoid shaky, hand-held shots.
BTW, for a short clip, 'Best Performance' will give you the best quality you can get.

  • I cannot import video clips when working with iMovie

I have a 13" Macbook Pro running Mavericks versión 10.9.4 but lately I do not know what happened since everytime I try to import video clips into my movie or trailer I am unable to get it. Those thumbnail are grey out, I can't drag them out into my project. Why ?

In Lion, one can select a video clip, go to finder services, and click on encode video...it will transcode the .mpg to something iMovie can handle. Far as I can tell, .mpg is not something iMovie likes to play with.

  • I can edit my video clips, but I can't export the sequence.

    OK.
I imported 30 GBs of my footage from my SD using my Macbook Pro's internal card reader for a video; while it was importing I noticed my computer was getting low on memory and the import was going to take all the memory (rookie mistake) and then some. So I canceled the import/transcoding (I optimized the footage), I proceeded to edit the footage and I was able to view and edit all the footage that was imported, even though before I canceled the import it only completed 30% of it. I finished editing and the share and export function is dimmed and when I try to import the footage again nothing happens. When I try to transcode the clips it says, "camera clips cannot be processed. you must import/reimport these first in order to process". My SD is still in my computer and I haven't taken it out since.
Is my computer mistaking the footage already being imported and its actually reading the footage from card?
    Do I need to...
    A) Take the memory card out and reimport it?
    B) Do a XML export?
    C) or do I have to restart everything and edit from scratch, which I hope isn't the case because this is for work and I need to turn this project around quick.
Any answers or places to look would be very much appreciated!!! You would be an answer to my prayers!!!

Select the clips that were not imported, and go to File->Import->Reimport from Camera or Card.
You don't have to do them all at once; and I strongly recommend you don't create optimized media at this stage. This is the bit that takes a long time, is probably not needed, and can be done later, anyway. (To optimize at any time, select clips in the browser, control-click and choose Transcode Media...)

  • Editing a video clip in PE11 - possible?

    Hi
I have no experience in editing video and I'd like to know if what we are trying to do is possible with Premiere Elements 11.
There is a song and videos for that song. The audio and video are seperate. Three musicians, each recorded and videod seperately. The main track is one musician, then there is a video of each of the other musicians and some extra videos of specific moments.
What we want to do is sync the videos and the audio and then basically cut and choose which parts of which videos we want for the clip. For example, let's say we synced the 1st video and we want the first 10 seconds from it. Then another 10 seconds from another video. I'm not sure how PE11 works, but we can't drag the 2nd video because it will be out of sync. We need to have both videos in sync and choose where to change (and change back, or to another video, etc.).
I imagine this should be possible and relatively basic... yes?
    Thank you

  • Can iMovie'11 view & edit HD video clips??

I am trying to find an answer to this question and have no success yet.

I had a real problem with this, having thrown away a PC and Pinnacle to upgrade to an iMac complete with the much raved about iMovie. After many many months of digging around, the only solution I have been able to establish is:
    1. The codec Apple use (namely AIC) reduces the 'quality' of the HD video during the upload. I have .mts native files and the finished product proves to be a reasonable quality standard definition movie.
    2. Final Cut Express uses the same codec.
    3. Final Cut Pro uses a codec which Apple say will resolve the loss in quality, but for me as a keen enthusiast, makes the cost wholly undesirable and out of reach, besides being a very complex piece of software aimed at the pro.
    4. Adobe's Premiere Elements 9 is a solution that will maintain the HD video image, together with 5.1 Dolby Digital surround sound. So, I would highly recommend this to you. Only issue from here on is that there are some handy functions in iMovie which you wont get in Premiere Elements, such as, the Date & Time stamp screen function.
All this to edit HD footage from a Sony video camera! Its a bit like inventing a car but oil hasnt been discovered
    Good luck!
