Bug in GenericUser authenticate method

Hi
Im using JaznUserManager with CUSTOM_AUTH in the Jazn web app config. My Login Module is the oracle's DBTableOraDataSourceLoginModule JAAS Login module and i have my own implementation of Identity Asserter and TokenCollector. Now everything is working fine except for the fact that everytime the user is being authenticated in the database. To illustrate this point consider the below example
1. A user tries to access index.jsp which is a protected resource
2. He is redirected to a login page where he supplies the credentials, it goes through the Security Framework of OC4J, which then invokes my custom identity collector and identity asserter classes and everything works fine and the user is logged in. Request.getuserprincipal returns me the correct JAZNUserAdaptor class with credentials set.
3.Now i do a refresh again this whole thing done along with the fact that it also calls the DB Login Module, queries tha DB again and gets the details.Isnt this an overhead that it should everytime do this? Atleast it should save an authenticated and authorized user in the session???
I think there is a bug in GenericUser.authenticate wherein its setting the auth status as unauthenticated everytime.Is this a bug???
Thanks
Kaushik

Does anyone knows how to send this bug report to oracle team, or to attract their attention to this post?

    Hi,
    The authenticate method in the weblogic.security.auth.Authenticate class is supposed to populate the subject with the principal(the authenticated user).I don't see it happening when i call the authenticate method and then when i call subject.getPrincipals() , it returns an empyty set.I'm not sure if i have a problem or is that a bug.If any one has used the authenticate method pls. let me know if it worked fine and what i might be doing wrong.
    Thanks in advance

    Resolved. You need to pass different user for the header and the payload. Sample payload for reference.

  • URGENT!! - Bug on read (readLine) method?

    Hello to all, I have need of a large aid.
    I need to know if There is the possibility that the method read() or readLine(), than I use for reading data from a socket from a PLC, has a Bug.
    This why, with the socket opened and of the data in arrival from the PLC (than does not give to errors), the method read() raises the "Connection exception reset by peer."
    The Technicians of the PLC say not to have errors but and I am surest of the correct operation of the server socket, also why it has been tested with telnet, hyperterminaly and others client without problems.
    I do not know that what to say and what to try.
    Thanks for every eventual aid.

    I don't think there is a bug with BufferedReader. But instead of using buffered reader, you can try using the socket input stream directly for reading to see if it makes any difference:
    try {
      // if the PLC is a client:
      ServerSocket serverSocket = new ServerSocket(...);
      Socket socket = serverSocket.accept();
      // or if the PLC is a server:
      Socket socket = new Socket(...);
      // and the rest of the code to test with
      InputStream in = socket.getInputStream();
      byte[] buffer = new byte[1024];
      int length;
      while ((length = in.read(buffer)) != -1) {
        System.out.println("Read "+length+" bytes");
      System.out.println("Connection closed");
    } catch (Exception e) {
      e.printStackTrace();
    }See if that little example works.
    Is the PLC i client or server? Is the PLC the first to write something to your java program or do you have to write something to it first (maybe it doesn't understand what you write to it).
    If you use reader/writer classes, there could be problems with the character encoding you use. If you don't specify any with InputStreamReader/OutputStreamWriter, then you will use the default platform encoding. I don't know which character encoding the PLC use, but if the characters are between 0 and 255, and you really want to use reader and writer classes, then use the ISO 8859-1 encoding.

  • Bug on class CL_HRECM00_PLANNING_SERVICES - method GET_ELIGIBLE_EMPLOYEES ?

    Hi there,
    we are developing a solution for SAP ECM, and we are using some of the existing classes SAP provides within the ECM module. the method GET_ELIGIBLE_EMPLOYEES (from class CL_HRECM00_PLANNING_SERVICES) returns all employees linked to a certain org unit eligible for a given review period.
    It returns direct reports and managers of the direct sub org units.
    The problem is that the method COLLECT_EMPLOYEES_FOR_PLANNING is skipping the part where the managers are obtained, in the scenario where there are no employees linked to the selected org unit.
    Has anybody noticed that before? Is it anything SAP is working on to get solved? Any easy workaround?
    To reproduce the problem you can execute the method GET_ELIGIBLE_EMPLOYEES selecting any org unit with no employees (It should have a manager and dependent org units with managers, though). See the results --> no employees selected.
    If you take other org unit with dependent org units and also employees, the managers of the direct sub org units are returned
    Any feedback will be welcome
    Thanks,
    Miguel

    Oops....forgot to close the thread.
    solved this a long time back.It can be configured by the transaction lpd_cust.

  • 11g bug(?)--AM client methods returning collections

    Hi all,
    I've got an application module with a method returning a collection of view rows, and I've exposed it on my client interface. The problem is that, in the data control palette, the method's return is just an untyped "element"--there's no declarative way of accessing the view row's data, that I can see.
    I've tried setting the "Element Java Type" in the "Edit Client Interface" dialog (after generating a custom view row class and exposing accessors on a VR client interface), but that seems to have no effect. I've tried right-clicking on the "element" node in the DCP and selecting "Edit Definition," but that doesn't seem to do anything either (no editor appears). Is there a way to return a typed collection (or, even better, a ViewObject with all attributes pertaining thereto) from a service method and have valuable stuff appear in the DCP?

    Couple of comments
    - wrong forum, should go to: JDeveloper and OC4J 11g Technology Preview
    - if the method returns rows, or ideally a VO, why can't this be done through a VO directly ?

    David,
    You are right, theer are some changes incorporated in the latest MLR # 16 on the configurations files and on the dehydration store metrics(such as performance, fields,..).
    However, I would not suggest to continue working on olite, even for Development/Test purposes as you might get stuck with strange errors...and the only solution would be to re-install SOA Suite if your olite gets corrupted. There might be ways to gets your olite back to position, but trust me..its not so simple.
    Also, when you develop and stress test all your testcase scenarios in an TEST Adv installation, its simple to mimic the same in actual production box, as you exactly know its behavior.
    So, go for a brand new SOA 10.1.3.4 MLR # 5 (or) 10.1.3.3.1 MLR # 16 SOA Suite Advanced installation with Oracle DB 10.2.0.3 as its dehydration store.
    Hope this helps!
    Cheers

  • How to defne user mapping for a Webservice method to acheive single sign on

    I all,
    I have created a Web service System using a url (containing full path of my wsdl )
    Now this particular wsdl(my webservice) has an <b>authenticate method</b> , which takes username and password.
    wanted to know is there any way that i can do user mapping for it .
    i.e when i create an ivew for this web service system using authenticate method , it should pick up the username and password from the user mapping. presently the ivew itself asks for username and password ?
    else can anyone tellme is there a way to do user mapping for my web service system that i have created using a wsdl url. presently it works with any junk username password, i mean the connection always succeds , may be because accessing a wsdl dosent requires any user name and password.
    thanks

  • Strange Bug in oracle.jbo.domain.Number

    Hi
    There is a strange Bug in oracle.jbo.domain.Number. Look at the following code:
    System.out.println(new Number("12E4"));In JDeveloper 9.0.5.3 this code prints
    12000which is correct. In JDeveloper 10.1.3 this code throws an exception:
    java.lang.NumberFormatException: For input string: "E4"
         at java.lang.NumberFormatException.forInputString(NumberFormatException.java:48)
         at java.lang.Integer.parseInt(Integer.java:447)
         at java.lang.Integer.parseInt(Integer.java:497)
         at oracle.sql.NUMBER.toBytes(NUMBER.java:1861)
         at oracle.sql.NUMBER.stringToBytes(NUMBER.java:3398)
         at oracle.sql.NUMBER.<init>(NUMBER.java:277)
         at oracle.jbo.domain.Number.<init>(Number.java:289)
         at project1.Main.main(Main.java:10)I think this is a serious bug since some very basic behaviour is not working as expected anymore.

    It's a bug.
    The parseInt method is called and from its javadoc it's clear that it throws a NumberFormatException:
    Parses the string argument as a signed decimal integer. The characters in the string must all be decimal digits, except that the first character may be an ASCII minus sign '-' ('\u002D') to indicate a negative value. The resulting integer value is returned, exactly as if the argument and the radix 10 were given as arguments to the parseInt(java.lang.String, int) method.
    Maybe the earlier implementation of oracle.jbo.domain.Number didn't use the parseInt method.

  • Very strange bug with compareTo: returning incorrect results

    Hello everyone! I have used the method compareTo many times to maintain my database project's entries. However recently I have discovered a bug, in which:
    a and b both being Storage type objects:
    private static class Storage {
    object data
    int nextData //an array stores the Storage objects
    int previousData //this uses an integer to locate previous in array
    Problem:
    ((Comparable)(a.data)).compareTo((Comparable)(b.data)) returns a 3, when a.data is clearly 5, and b.data is clearly 20.
    This is very strange, as the compareTo should return a -1 instead of a positive number. Is this a known bug with the compareTo method? I have been using it reliably for many programs but this is the first time it ever occurs to me.

    is really the same as comparing "5" to "2"
    being the first character of the string, difference
    being, surprise, surprise = 3.
    If you want the Strings to be comparable that way you should left-fill them with spaces or zeros.
    Or, better still, override compareTo and make your Storage implement Comparable instead of all that casting of the data objects.

  • Irritating bugs in file upload component !!

    Bug 1
    During a postback operation the text (file path name) in the file upload component is cleared ! When a resubmit of a form is required, the user has to re-browse the file again.
    Bug 2
    The processValueChandge() method is never called when the value in the file upload component is changed (and the mouse is clicked outside the component).
    Any suggestions or workarounds are very much appreciated.
    Thanks.

    I can't answer to Bug 1. That is, I don't have any solutions. If you want to submit this, go to http://developers.sun.com/prodtech/javatools/jscreator/support/index.html and look at the section titled Bug Report /Feature Request
    Bug 2
    The processValueChandge() method is never called when
    the value in the file upload component is changed
    (and the mouse is clicked outside the component).This is not a bug.
    processValueChange methods are server side methods and do not get called until the page is submitted to the server. Clicking outside the component will not cause the page to get submitted. If you want a client-side action (such as when focus is lost) then you can add some JavaScript.
    The file upload does not have a process value change method, it is an action method and thus has a uploadFileButton_action method. This method gets called when the upload button is clicked.

  • URGENT: Serious Bug in 2.0.2.9

    We have uncovered a serious bug with the getElementsByTagName() method that could cause incorrect or inconsistent results.
    Looking at the bytecode via a debugger, we traced it to the checkNamespace method of the XMLElement class. In this class, an explicit object comparison between two strings is performed (s == name). The correct code should be s.equals(name). While a common coding mistake, this creates randomly inconsistent results depending on how the compiler chooses to manage strings with identical values.
    Any suggestions?

    It would be a solution IF the print method works... but it doesn't work 100% with DTDs. Take a look at my message posted at July 25, 2000 11:22 AM. Be carefull if you have standalone docs...

  • Bugs reconnecting  in JMSTopicRemoteConnection and JMSTopicTransportManager

    Toplink 10.1.3 has bugs in the JMS implementation for clustered cache coordination that I would like to submit.
    These were discovered in JBoss 4.0.5 because the JBoss Application Server has a thread that is used to monitor opened connections to JMS topics and produces a stack when resources are not cleaned up properly.
    Bug 1 - The TopicConnection that serves as the "Publisher Connection" is never cleaned up in JMSTopicRemoteConnection. It is allocated by the JMSTransportManager, but JMSTopicRemoteConnection doesn't get the reference passed in. It isn't cleaned up ever.
    Bug 2 - The reconnect() method of JMSTopicRemoteConnection doesn't call removeLocalConnect() on the TransportManager, so if an exception is thrown because of resource issues or slowness, the "reconnect" algorithm is simply "add another connection".
    You can duplicate this on the slave host if you first get the master node and slave node synched by performing some edits of the same object on both. Then, bounce the master node (this is JBoss terminology). You'll see log msgs for hanging JMS connections on the slave node regularly.

  • Calling HttpServletRequest authenticate() from preRenderView listener

    Hi,
    I'm trying to use the authenticate() in a preRenderView listener method, in order to trigger authentication conditionally, depending on view parameters in the page. I tried adding a simple method:
    @Named
    @RequestScoped
    public class PermissionBean implements java.io.Serializable {
    public void preRender() {
    System.out.println("IN PRERENDER");
    HttpServletRequest request = (HttpServletRequest)FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getRequest();
    HttpServletResponse response = (HttpServletResponse)FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getResponse();
    try {
    request.authenticate(response);
    } catch (Exception e) {  // may throw ServletException or IOException
    e.printStackTrace();
    The authenticate method itself doesn't throw an exception, it triggers the redirect to Login.xhtml as expected. However, I'm getting in my server log, I get this exception:
    INFO: IN PRERENDER
    FINEST: GET /Login.xhtml previous[3]
    INFO: Exception when handling error trying to reset the response.
    java.lang.NullPointerException

    So my request is not redirected to Login.xhtml.
    My question is - is this something that should work within a JSF managed bean, or is it only legal outside of JSF request lifecycle? I tried calling authenticate() from a WebFilter, and it works as exptected.
    Thanks,
    Ellen

    I also posted this question on StackOverflow, and got an answer, which is that I have to set responseComplete() in order for the redirect to the Login page to work:
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/7015516/problem-using-httpservletrequest-authenticate-within-jsf-2-0-prerenderview-list
    Unfortunately, this doesn't work, because after authenticate() is called, FacesContext.getCurrentInstance() returns null.
