Bug in Illustrator CS6 pattern options palet

I found out that it was not possible to create a patern swatch with a single copy of 1x1. The preview window kept showing at least a 3x3 version and if you drag the swatch from your swatches pallet it copies 3x3 swatch.
Does any one else experienced the same issue and knows a work around??

I'll show you in 5 steps what I mean (see images):
1 I create a shape with some text or other shapes in it
2 I drag it into the swatches panel
3 I double click on the new swatch and make the number of copies 1x1 and click on "Done" (the preview next to the tile type shows more!)
4 I drag the swatch edited in "Pattern options" from the swatch panel onto my Artboard and it creates multiple shapes
5 Is an example of dragging the same swatch from the Swatches pallet without editing it in "Pattern options"

Illustrator CS6 Pattern Creation Question

PLeAsE, can anyone at Adobe (or anyone) say that the new Pattern Creation tool allows for use of symbols? I use them all the time for repeats and are a HUGE help when it comes to changes.
Please, will Pattern Creation utilize this? Just yes/no…

I have no idea. In the mean time, have you thought of building your pattern as a symbol and draging the symbol to the swatch panel. The symbol will expand, but you can always updated it by editing your symbol and updating the pattern. I use this technique for editing brushes. It sure beats dragging the brush out each time it needs to be updated and I can use blends, which are automatically expanded when converted to a brush (since brushes don't accept gradients, at least in CS5).

Possible bugs in Adobe Illustrator CS6

I'am using Illustrator CS6 on Mac OS 10.6.8 (Italian) a few days but I found some things that just do not go:
The guidelines are not aligned-distributed with the dialog aligns and deploy.
The first time I type Command + P prints directly (no window appears).
On the panel moves, the numbers typed on 'Distance:' do not update the other fields and do not move anything.
Has anyone encountered these problems?

for me, applying align and distribute on guidelines works as expected. And I can't help with the printing issue either, I'm not seeing it on my mac 10.6.8. But for the Distance in the move window, yeah, it's not updating properly. However, if you use the mouse wheel to scrub to the value you want, (or type in the value, then use the mouse wheel or arrow keys to decrease the number, then increase it back to the number you typed) then it updates properly.
With so many bugs in Illustrator CS6, I'm definitely looking forward to a CS6.1 update. We definitely need one soon.

Why are certain fonts showing up in Japanese in Illustrator CS6

In Illustrator CS5, I would use a font called Kozuka Mincho Pro/EL. Illustrator's font selector would show the font with the English name. I'm on a Mac running 10.7.4 and Font Book shows me the font with the English name as well. After upgrading to CS6, the font name in Illustrator is being displayed in Japanese. Unfortunately, I don't read Japanese. Is there some way to correct this on my end or is there a bug in Illustrator CS6?

If you acess Illustrator > Preferences > Type section there´s a field you can enable called Show font names in English.
If you enable this option...does the Kozuka font continue to be showed in japanese?

The online help which you have listed is for Illustrator CS5 and Illustrator CS4. In Illustrator CS6 this option is not available and to achieve this you have to expand the traced art and then create "New Color Group" using the Swatches panel from the selected artwork (expanded artwork).

Illustrator CS6 drop shadow looks worst

Anyone there know is it a bug of Illustrator CS6, I try the same size and same setup in Illustrator CS5 have no problem.

That looks like a pretty large document bu it is hard to tell since you did not give any specs
this is what I got on a 30x36 inch document, so the art is pretty large as well.

How do I "get outlines" in Illustrator CS6. Option was available in version 4, but now is gone. Have tried copying an InDesign-created outline but it will not copy.

I have spent the last two or three days trying to do what you suggested. I uninstalled Adobe 6 from Windows. Some files that CS6 placed on my system during installation remained, including fonts and .dll files.
I had to abandon the Cleaner Tool you suggested because in one screen it allowed me to specify removing CS6 only, but on the following screen it only gave on option to remove ALL Adobe programs. I could not do that because I didn't have the serial number handy for CS3 in case I want to reinstall it at some point.
I tried to get technical help with the Cleaner Tool problem but no definitive help was available, so I reinstalled CS6 again without having the benefit of the Cleaner Tool. I tried to get the serial number for CS3 so I could use the Cleaner Tool but spent 2 wasted hours in chat. Even though I had a customer number, order number, order date, place of purchase, the email address used AND 16 digits of the serial number, in two hours the agent couldn't give me the serial number. After two hours I had nothing but instructions to wait another 20 minutes for a case number.
Illustrator CS6 is still trying to open some backups as Text and otherNone of the problems have been fixed. I have tried to open/use the .ai files in CS6 installed on another system and am getting the same result, so I don't think the software was damaged by the cleaner. The hard drive cleaner is well-known and I've run it many times without any problem to previous versions of Illustrator or any other programs.
When I ordered, the sale rep promised good technical support and gave me an 800 number, but after I paid the $2000, I learned that the 800 number she gave me doesn't support CS6 and hangs up on me. Adobe doesn't call it a current product even though they just sold it to me about 3 weeks ago.
Would appreciate any help you experts can offer. If I can't solve this, the last backup I can use was from June and I will have lost HUNDREDS of hours of work and assets that I cannot replace.
Exhausted and still desperately in need of help...

Looks like the dark ui is the same tone as in Photoshop.

I don't know if should get exited about the interface colors...I mean, we can do that already. But the pattern creation tool is welcome.

Can a pattern created in illustrator CS6 be plotted?

When a new pattern is being created in Illustrator CS6, the shaped objects that form the basis for the pattern, all have anchor points.However, when the pattern is then created and is stored in the swatch, it looses it's anchor points when it is used to fill an object. We are trying to trying to create patterns that can be cut out on a vinyl plotter which obviously means we need to find a way around this if possible.

John, thank you for the help so far, but it does not solve the problem completely.
The bounding boxes for each piece of artwork making up the pattern are now visible and worse still, they actually plot also.
Is there a way of hiding these bounding boxes?
Also when a pattern is created in the swatches panel, it seems to disappear when I finish that session of illustrator. What is the best way to save the new pattern so that I can access it every time I go in to illustrator?
You can tell I am just starting!

Stroke Bug Illustrator CS6

I contacted Adobe in June 2013 about a problem with the stroke profile items. I was told that there would be an update available and no updates were available. Will this be fixed anytime soon? Is it fixed in CC? In my photo I show the same exact stroke with different profiles applied. I have yet to find any efficient work arounds. Any info would be very helpful. Thanks!

You need to ClickDrag just a tiny bit, then apply the Shift Option Command.

Bug Found: Illustrator CC *always* merges layers when opening a DXF file - CS6 works properly. When opening a DXF, CC merges multiple layers into one, even if you have the "Merge Layers" unchecked. Can a forum admin employee get this submitted as a bug report? Thanks.

Illustrator CC 17.0.0 *always* merges layers when opening a DXF file, even if you have the "Merge Layers" unchecked.
1. Open a DXF file that contain multiple layers in Illustrator CC 17.0.0
2. Uncheck the "Merge Layers" button.
3. Click OK.
Results: It has merge all the layers into one layer.
Expected results: It should open with multiple layers preserved. Illustrator CS6 works properly.

Need Illustrator CS6 and can't find it in the previous version options

My son needs Illustrator CS6 for a class he's taking, and his teacher said we could download it from Creative Cloud. However, when I look in the Apps tab, under "Find new apps," and select "Previous versions" from the drop down menu, Illustrator isn't one of the options. How can I get it from Creative Cloud?
