Bug in iWeb?

I had problems with multiple albums in My Albums, see postin below. But it worked after restarting the iMac?!?!? Bug or not?

see postin below.
Where? It says under your name that this is your first post.
I don't think it would be considered a bug unless others can duplicate your experience, which seems unlikely if your problem went away with a restart. Perhaps you just needed to do Safari > Empty Cache.

Can someone please send the URL for the page in which one can report bugs in iWeb?

Same thing for simple old Wishes and Hopes for the next iWeb if they are not one and the same URL/page.
    Thank you.

    Lorna....
    All is well....actually doing a little jet-setting
over here and there...you can check the updates on my
    website....thanks for your email...
Regarding the feedback to Apple....if you ever forget
the website, you can always look under the iWeb menu
while you are working (that's when you run into these
bugs anyways) and pick "Send Feedback to Apple".
That'll send you to the same webpage for feedback
    submission!
Hi James I'm glad that you are ok. And thank you for the hint about the bug reports on iWeb menu. It makes a lot of sense putting it there; I just never noticed it.
iWeb has a bad blog bug
I'd like to stomp it royally
Instead I'll send a feedback hug
    (She said, behaving loyally.)

  • Slight Bug in iWeb?

I have found a bug (feature, whatever) that gives me a problem when I publish to a folder. If I make changes to an iWeb site and publish it to a directory, and make additional changes to the same iWeb site, the changes are not made if I publish to the same directory named folder. This is true even if I delete the folder before publishing. I have to change the name to get the changes....
Needless to say I am changing the folder name by incrementing a number in the folder name...
Any thoughts on what I am doing wrong?
    Mike

I understand. That's why I am asking you to make sure that your FTP application is set properly.
Don't be tempted to use the FTP provided by your hosting service. Use a good stand-alone one.
If you don't want to pay for one, a lot of people use, and are apparently satisfied with, the freeware Cyberduck.....

  • Snow leopard bug with iweb black template

I installed Snow Leopard this weekend. When I went to add content to my website this am, I found that all my pages and entries on the black templates were unreadable. The fonts were ultra condensed so that letters and words were superimposed. I was able to fix them by reselecting the fonts. Just one more thing in my Vista-like Event Horizon involving Safari, Mail, all my fonts, two restores from time machine and an uninstall and then reinstall of my HP printer despite SLs dire warning of the consequences.

Delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder, repair disk permissions, reboot, launch iWeb and republish the site. See if that will make any changes. The black theme works for me in myTestPage .
Can you give us the URL so we can examine it first hand?

  • .Mac "Start Site" not the top site in iWeb site organizer

My first iWeb site I created is for my family stuff. Mildly personal.
My next one will be more friends/work.
But, when I test out the iweb help entry that says the top site in the site organizer is/will be the start site, it does not hold true when I publish them.
    The help says:
Your start site is the one that opens when you type this URL (address) into a browser (don't type the brackets):
    http://web.mac.com/[YourMemberName]
    To change your start site:
Drag the site you want to be the start site so that it appears first in the site organizer.
But, after I publish, the start site is still the old start site. Is this a timing/web cache issue? Or, bug? Or, how can one fix this?

It could be a cache issue, but I think this is less likely. Never hurts to emtpy your browser cache though. I have seen one other person who's sites are stuck like this. Couldn't tell you why. She is stuck using the long URLs to specify each site. Maybe this is a bug in iWeb. I don't know.
But here are some things you could try...switch the order of your sites again in the Site Organizer, publish, switch them back and republish. Or you might try a "Publish ALL to .Mac".
The object here is to get iWeb to generate new index.html files that redirect to your choice of a start page. For a little background, if you look in your iDisk inside the Web folder. There is a folder called Sites. Inside Sites, there is a folder called iWeb. Inside the iWeb folder you will see the first of two redirection index.html files. This first one is what allows the short URL to work...
    http://web.mac.com/yourname/
Now if you open up the site folder inside the iWeb folder, you will see another index.html file among all the other files there. This is the second index.html file that redirects to the same start page as the first. This allows the "long" URL to be used...
    http://web.mac.com/yourname/iWeb/sitefolder/
I have seen situations where either one of these index.html files have not been generated or altered to reflect changes in the Site Organizer...usually the outer index.html file inside the iWeb folder. So anything that you can do to make iWeb publish new files should work....changing the order of your sites, erasing the files from your iDisk and republishing, changing the names of your sites, doing a Publish ALL. Try these things and see if your problem isn't resolved...
If you have found any of this information to be useful to you, please take the time to provide me with feedback by marking my reply as "solved" or "helpful" using those little buttons that you see in the title bar of this reply. I'd really appreciate it!

  • Iweb 08 removing photos from photo page upon save

I am running into a peculiar bug in iweb. I have a working iweb site with mostly photo or movie pages. Was in updating the iweb site on my new MBP late 2008 adding in a new photo page.
    1) added new photo page and renamed
    2) dragged ~8 photos from iphoto to populate the page
    3) dragged additional groups of photos (~10 at a time)
    4) edited some text at the top of the page
    5) clicked save
All but the first set of photos dragged onto the page from iphoto were deleted from the page.
Thought this to be very strange as something like this happened two weeks ago and I thought it was an errant mouse click or something I did.
But again - why? I went back and added more photos to the page to fix. Moved over 3 groups and then clicked save. Again the photos disappeared. Getting frustrated at this time.
Again added photos to the page in groups and saved the file after each addition. Page eventually was created with all photos saving after each group was added.
Has anyone else had this issue?
    Thank you,
    Keith

After you ran the updates to iWeb on your new Mac, did you do a restart? Although you are not instructed to do this, do it anyway!
Most problems in iWeb can be fixed by deleting the preferences file - Home Folder/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iWeb.plist, restarting your Mac and running Disk Utility to repair permissions.
Don't forget to reset your preferences after deleting the .plist.

  • Emage fil on web page but doesn't show in iWeb

I cheat! I will set up a web page then duplicate it over and over again so I get my standard layout. On the first page I placed an image. Duplicated the pages, then removed that image from them all. At least in iWeb. However, when I publish the site the image appears on the pages. So, back to iWeb and its not there. Using Dreamweaver I go into the code and lo and behold it is all there. So I can remove it and reload it. But its still change the fact that the master file in iWeb has it stored in the belly of the beast. How do I get rid of it from iWeb?

Delete the images, quit iWeb and do a restart.
Restarting dumps out all the redundant files from iWeb, Keynote etc.
One of the bugs in iWeb '09 is with it not saving some hyperlink changes. The only way I can get them to stick is to delete, quit, relaunch and add the new one.
Another triumph for the iWeb programmers!

  • IWeb is very unstable

I start to dislike iWeb. Why?
    - It takes 5 minutes to open as I start it
    - During this 5 minutes my machine is dead
    - Opening an existing BLOG page is really slow
    - It crashes as soon as I change something to my page and I try to save it
I tried a lot of things:
    - deleting the plist from preferences
    - reset the file permissions
    - checked all files, I found that I had a Domain.sites file in the central library dir (Disk\Library\iWeb, i moved that to my local dir
    - copied the Domains.sites packege to my desktop, created a new site and copy it back
Nothing helps. Perhaps the next lines give a clue to an expert:
    - I work under a normal user "walter" that has NO adminstrative rights (as it should be)
    - The only thing I have installed besides iLife & iWork is parallels to use my Windows stuff for my work.
    - My Domains.sites file/dir is about 200MB, the index.new.xml file is 1.2MB
I am now out of possibilities, what can I try?? Delete iWeb and re-install??
    HELP
    Walter

    Hallo Harry
    Mooie site(s) trouwens!
    Groeten
    Walter

  • IWeb and .Mac (MobileMe) Galleries

Went to add some iWeb pages with links to a few of my .Mac (or now MobileMe) Galleries. However, when I go to the "Insert" menu and select .Mac Web Gallery I'm informed that "No albums or movies are available." Now I know for certain I have 5 Web Galleries (you can even see them at gallery.me.com/noraa). Is iWeb not seeing these galleries because of the transition to MobileMe. Is anyone else having a similar problem. Thanks for all you're help!
P.S. I am properly logged into MobileMe in the System Preferences and can access my iDisk via the Finder, sync items, access my email, etc.

Sorry - did not help. The only effect was, that my website was lost and a new blank website came up.
But it is more clear that it seems to be a bug in iWeb:
Only web-albums appear in iWeb that are created and fed by iPhoto.
But mine are fed by Aperture!
There were two albums left which were connected to iPhoto. I went to mobileMe web interface and got "info" for the two albums which were still connected to iPhoto and changed this to Aperture.
The result is: no album is left to show up in iWeb as a "MobileMe web gallery" to be inserted as a widget.

  • IWeb Blog Error: "blog.webtemplate" couldn't be opened

So my iweb crashed as I was writing a new blog entry and when I reopened it all the pages were ok with the exception of the blog "entries" page which just show up as a blank white page in iweb. I tried adding another "blog page" and I got the error "The template 'blog.webtemplate' couldn't be opened. I've restarted the comp, run a permissions repair, but with no luck.
    Suggestions?

First thing to do: make at least one backup or copy of your sites folder but don't replace the one your had made earlier. Give it an other name or so. I suppose or hope it's only the app that has gone bad, not your site files.
There is an update of iLife and I hope they fixed some bugs in iWeb too.
I'll have a look at it today and see whether my problem have disappeared.
You can go back with Time Machine to the time when the app was working (even with bugs). Then try the iLife update.

  • Aperture does not appear in iWeb.

i've got the newest updates installed but aperture still fails to appear on my iweb 2.0. what should i do?

Have you used this program before?
    http://www.lightboxsoftware.com/aperture/index.html
Also, I think the image ordering issue is a bug in iWeb. Hopefully it will be corrected in the next version. I don't recall any specific way to maintain the order of images in iWeb.

  • Iweb 08 - missing blog entries

All of a sudden, my website, hosted on mobilme has stopped showing the blog entries. I have tried uploading new content to the site and everything shows up just fine on my idisk where it should be, but the master page and archive page of the blog show no entries in Safari. Strangely, if you click the RSS feed, everything is where it should be and you can leaf through the blog pages that way. This is an old site which has worked without issue (except for the infamous transition period). I have made no procedural or structural changes to the site at all. Everything looks fine in iWeb. Any ideas why this would happen?
    Thanks
    RDD

It is a known bug in iWeb. Whenever I make a change or add a post, even in an other site or blog, then the whole blog summary is wiped out or has misplaced images. If you upload the changes, then your site will be damaged on the internet.
So whatever you do in iWeb and you have a blog, you always have to check all your other blogs to see if things are still as they should be.
After each change or addition my rss feed is ruined.
It is time Apple started paying attention to these signals.
Please in all cases send feedback to Apple. This is a recurring problem. If they don't fix it the blog part of iWeb is pretty useless, at least for me and many other users.

  • Missed place text on upload to iWeb

I'm using a LOT of my upload allotment trying to get around what I consider a "bugs" in iWeb. Text I insert into iWeb looks fine on the iWeb page but when uploaded, it grows dramatically in size, distorts, moves itself around the page, makes other text invisible, etc. I've had text I have previously deleted due to these problems(even after saving the file, closing iWeb) still show up on the site at a size and position of it's own determination.
It seems it may be related to overlapping text/object layers and what layer is on top of another. I've had to make sure no layer overlaps another to get the site to where it is. Here's the site as good as I can get it(work in progress). What I'm trying to do is to pull the text at the bottom of the page higher thus shortening the height of the page but this starts the "distorted, misplaced, disappearing, text that has been deleted yet still appearing, syndrome.

Anyone else having these issues or know why I might be?

I had this problem in 1.1 before I finally reverted back to 1.0.1.
I found text could be totally shifted over to one side or misaligned on publish despite looking perfect on the screen in iWeb. I identified that the problem may be due to using non-standard font sizes in the Font menu. Try and stick to the standard sizes shown in the menu, eg 14, 18, 24, 36.
Try it and see. Anyway, there are clearly problems with the 1.1 update, so I'm waiting for 1.1.1 or 1.2.

  • IWeb 1.1 comments and language

After the 1.1 update, which supports comments for the first time, I tried out this new feature today. My iWeb site is totally in Dutch, and up to now this has worked fine: all navigational items and titles are in Dutch, as it ought to be. However, after allowing comments (as prescribed in the help), in a fixed place on the page (can this be changed, independently of a template, BTW?) there appears the item "Add a Comment" and not in Dutch (something like "Reageer"
or something similar), and this cannot be changed, it seems. Also, after posting a comment (which worked fine) the comment itself is concluded by a date/time stamp, which is also in English, and not in Dutch, as other date/time stamps on the site.
Is there a way to change this language setting for comments, or is this a bug in iWeb: not adapting the language of the comment environment to the language of the template? Or is it (now) impossible to do this?
Thanks in advance for any helpful advice.

    Stella
I don't know if this will solve your problem but
there is a thread at this location. It discusses
a language bug in OS Tiger and offers a work around.
Read those postings and let us know in the thread if
    it helped.
t isn't relevant, I'm afraid, as all settings are Dutch, and no other language is even in the language menu (none have been added, that is), iWeb is totally in Dutch, as is OS X, and all other apps. So the English that surfaces in the comments is a stand alone effect, and is probably due to what the other replyer posted: the first version is only done in English. I have already informed Apple via the feedback form, and I hope that 1.1.1 resolves this (and will update all older pages with english comments as well).
Thank to those who have replied

  • Thumbnails updated from Aperture to iWeb

Many times after updating a photo that then appears in Aperture, the photo does not appear in iWeb. Even after forcing Aperture to generate the thumbnail, it seems like I must restart iWeb for the updated image to appear in iWeb.
Also, I cannot figure out the order in which images are displayed by iWeb.
