Bug in latest 2 bios updates for FM2-A55M-E33

Hey guys,
Today I tried to update my bios of my FM2-A55M-E33 to the latest version(7721vA4.zip). Once everything completed succesfully, the bios wouldn't boot anymore.
I plugged out my 3TB hdd and it worked fine. I installed an earlier version of the bios(7721vA0.zip) and this did work with my 3TB hdd.
So in short:
The latest bios updates for FM2-A55M-E33 will freeze(black screen) at bios start when a 2TB+ hdd drive is plugged in.
Namely:
FM2-A55M-E33 (MS-7) V10.3 BIOS Release
FM2-A55M-E33 (MS-7) V10.4 BIOS Release
I hope you can fix this asap, especially since these are the latest updates.
Regards,
Henkie de Grote

Thx for the info anyways

  • REQUEST: Latest BIOS update for MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G card

Hi, I'd like the latest BIOS version for my MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G card. I don't know what the serial number is, I don't have the box anymore. I've attached my BIOS file I saved through GPU-z. Thanks in advance!

    Hi
Check graphics card itself, should have a sticker with S/N. Else it might be hard (or impossible) to provide correct vBIOS.
    Thanks!   S/N: 602-V316-09SB1410116XXX

  • Bug in latest iTunes update for PCs?

I only use iTunes for my iPhone and, prior to the latest update, it only popped up when I plugged my phone into my PC.  Now, it is continually popping up.  I close it and several minutes later, ite pops up again.  It is very annoying, to say the least.  Any easy way to fix this?

Is anyone experiencing this same problem? Please advise as its quite an annoyance.

  • FM2-A55M-E33 upgrade bios with richland

Is there any way to upgrade the BIOS on my FM2-A55M-E33 with A4-4000 APU?  I don't want to have to buy a Trinity just to upgrade to the latest BIOS with Win 8.1.

There is no reason for rma if nobody guaranteed you that your specific sample will work with Richland out of the box. That the board is able to run Richland cpus of course does not mean it will with any bios version. Vendors have boards in stock. They don't open any box so any board in stock is updated to the latest version. It is common sense a board manufactured before Richland support may not include a Richland supporting bios.
    paynej1,
some FM2 boards will not completely work but post with Richland and allow to enter bios. Only those can be updated without a Trinity cpu. For all others you need a supported cpu or having the board flashed by a pc-shop or MSI.

  • Need help finding a BIOS flash tool and BIOS updates for HP Compaq nc8230 running Windows 7

I put together this laptop. It didnt come with a hardrive, and basically I installed everything from the ground up.
It is an HP Compaq nc8230, IDE Hard drive, Windows 7 32 bit. The BIOS on it is the original one. I've searched far and wide, but to no avail, it seems there's zero support for this model anymore.
Basically it was never intended to go beyond Vista, back in 2004 when this model was introduced.
The reason I am searching for some kind of BIOS update, whether it is BIOS or SMBios is to get the ACPI driver to recognize the primary laptop battery. This is crucial: it only sees both as the travel battery. Other than that, all else is fine.

    Hi:
Here is the latest BIOS update for your notebook.

You cannot use the windows based flash because you installed windows 7, so I provided the link to the DOS based flash.
You need to use a USB floppy drive for this update.
Oh, and the card reader won't work unless you install this updated driver which is not on your PC's support and driver page.

I have to report you about bugs in latest BIOS for MSI-6545 ver.1 (version BIOS 1.7).
After flashig BIOS I cannot change parameters "Shutdown temperatures", "Spread spectrum" and some others !!!
When I try to do it, my computer hangs.
I have CPU PIV-2.4-400-512 with memory 512MB Samsung original PC-800 ECC
(By the way, there was no problems with BIOS 1.5 and CPU Intel PIV-1.6)
    [email protected]

I have also noticed that the bios write protect control is missing.
I don't know the reason why it's been removed but if you want to protect your bios you can set the jumper (J16) on your motherboard.
If the jumper (J16) is shorted (Little plastic thing conecting both pins together) then the bios flash is locked and can't be updated.
If the jumper (J16) is not shorted (Little plastic thing removed) then the bios flash is unlocked.
Also can anyone tell me if two gameports are listed in the Device Manager after clearing cmos using bios 1.7.
Bios 1.5 is ok apart from the fact that i can't upgrade my processor to 2.6GHz as it only supports up to 2.2GHz so if i upgrade processor i won't be able to clear cmos because of the problem with the gameports.
I have tried everything to get rid of one of the gameports but nothing seems to work apart from going back to bios 1.5 which is no good because i wan't to upgrade my processor.

  • D20 - latest bios-update (61j938usa.iso)

    Just an info,
the latest bios-update caused the back-fan of my system (4158) keep spinning to fast. It didn't throttle down when Windows started. Front-fan was ok. Changing the fan-speed in the bios and even resetting it didn't helped.
    Returning to 61KT37A solved it.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

This is a BIOS bug introduced in BIOS 38A, and I've been able to reproduce the problem on my system as well.    Should be fixed with 39A when it gets released.
No real harm in running 38A, it's just a little noisy for the time being.

  • FM2-A55M-E33 Bios Problem

    Hello!
I recently bought a system with below Specs.
    Main Board: MSI FM2-A55M-E33
    Bios Version: 11.1
    Video Card: None
    PSU:  Thermaltake 480w
    CPU: AMD A6-6400k
    Memory: 1 x HyperX Blu 4GB 1600
    SSD/ HDD: WD Green 500GB
    CPU COOLER: DeepCool Gammaxx300
    Operating System: Win7 x64
after assembeling and turning on power and entering Bios, through Utility Tab > M-Flash upgraded the Bios from 11.1 to current version 11.5
Now that i've installed win7 x64 and want to OC, i see "CPU Ratio" and "Base Freq" is locked! while my CPU is Black Edition!
What's the problem? Is it normal?!!!
Is it because of upgrading bios using Richland CPU?

No i didn't check it before Bios Update
Unfortunately yesterday my MB didn't boot and seems bios is damaged. I sent it for warranty, will comment what happened.

  • X240 will not boot after latest bios update

I bought windows 8 .1 machine from factory. Then I had local shop install 8.1 on larger ssd. I just performed latest bios update and now machine will not boot. I am sure this is uefi related but I am not knowledgable in that area. The boot parameter returned to me by the shop was "legacy only" and secure boot was disabled.

Since doing the BIOS update are the settings still as you noted above?  You also didn't mention which SSD is now installed in the system.
Just as an aside, installing Windows 8.1 in legacy mode isn't exactly optimal.  Were there any particular reasons for this? Just being curious.

  • Boot Fail after latest BIOS Update on Flex 2-15D

    Hi everyone,
I have a severe problem (I guess) after the latest BIOS Update. Windows 7 freezes during startup.
I own a 64-bit Lenovo FLex 2 15D with AMD A6-6310 and R4, 4GB RAM and a SSHD (8GBSSH). I purchased it without OS and installed Windows 7 - which worked fine so far.
I yesterday updated the BIOS with version 9FCN23WW (for Win7 and Win8), the latest BIOS update. A mistake, it seems.
After Reboot, I first had to disable Secure Boot in the BIOS, because it would not let me boot at all. I figured out how to get into the BIOS-Setup to disable this (press Enter 2x, press Tab when in the Boot Menu to access the "Apps Menu", then "SETUP" - just in case this helps someone).
Now Win7 begins to start up, but freezes during the startup process (the splash screen with the win flag freezes and looks a bit strange. I used the "protected mode" Windows Startup and saw that the process always hangs when loading "amdkmpfd.sys".
That is basically it.I guess I have to find a way to re-install the previous version of the BIOS, but I have no idea how!
    Any idea?!
Now about what I did to fix this (poor, but I tried):
If I try to start from a Win7 installation CD-ROM (actually it is one for Dell PCs, but I guess that is not the problem) and press a key to boot from CD, Windows loads files, shows "Starting Windows"  and at a certain point again just freezes. When I -do not- press a key, WIndows Boot Manager shows up and mentions that "Windows failed to start (etc.)" "File: \EFI\Microsoft\Boot\BCD" "An Error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data."
I can't even boot into Linux on a USB stick, because the Windows "Error Recovery" (translated from German, sorry - my guess) won't let me when I try (just offers to boot to Win7 in protected mode - it could be that it fails immediately and jumps back to Win Startup).
Thank you for every bit of help!
    Tristam

I found our the solution to my problem with the help of SebastianLenovo ...
In the BIOS / Boot Mode, I switched back from "UEFI" to "Legacy". That's it. That simple. The BIOS Upgrade routine just did not transfer that setting from the old BIOS to the new.
Given the fact that 1. I did not change that setting, so it is default and 2. it would have been easy to avoid, if the BIOS update routine would be well programmed to transfer the current BIOS settings to the new, upgraded BIOS ...
Anyway a strange situation that a 64-bit system has a 32-bit BIOS. Actually no Linux distribution (except FatDog and rescue systems) are able to deal with it - Linux only running as a Virtual Machine under Windows. I think this is inappropriate and really taking away a part of the fun if you can not run this laptop as a dual boot system.
Thanks to Sebastian and I hope this solution helps someone in the future...
    Regards, Tristam.

Hello , Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, both from other users, HP experts and other support personnel. I read your post about the BIOS, and wanted to assist you! The blank screen and blinking of your Caps Lock, is the system trying to give you the error code for the issue your notebook is having.  You can review the following document for further assistance, if needed:HP Notebook PCs - Computer Does Not Start and Emits an LED or Beep Code Please note the blinking sequence of your Caps Lock, and follow the instructions in the document above.  From the information that you provided, it is possible that the blink code will be related to a BIOS error.  You can always try performing a System Restore, to set the notebook back to a previous working point. You can also try checking this site for BIOS drivers. Once there, you can select your Operating System and click "Update", you should be able to access and download the  BIOS drivers.  If you downloaded the latest driver from that site, try uninstalling the driver and installing the previous version. Please let me know if this information was helpful by clicking the thumbs up below.

  • Bios update for my Toshiba satellite c675-s7200 - Helppppppp :/

I am being told to download the bios update for my laptop so I put in the serial # and it gives me an update but I have read alot about once you upate your bios it wont work so I am really nervous about doing this..here are the problems I have been having..
    1. My laptop was restored back to the factory settings just like it came out of the box.
    2. When I turn on my laptop I have to press f1 to start windows now keep in mind it does not ask me to press any keys I only knew to press f1 because it was stuck on the Toshiba screen showing the f2 and f12 keys so I began pressing them all until i got to windows. None of the function keys work expect f1
    3. Once I get into windows everything runs and works fine. I have gone into my toshbia asst to reset the bios to default but it does nothing so I can not apply it. What do I need to do?
I have been told that I need to replace my cmos battery but then I have been told that is not the problem the problem is the bios settings need to be changed to the default WELL ok how do I that if it will not let me?
    Helpppppp...

Hi! It could be your CMOS battery causing this. Shut down your PC. When it starts up and you see F2 and F12 at the bottom of your screen, press F2. Find where it says to set to default on the bottom of the screen. My default is F10. Yours
may be different. After you set to default , save and exit!
    Dokie!

  • BIOS update for Equium A60-181

Hi, according to the toshiba website there's a new BIOS update for my laptop.
I was wondering is it worth the update unfortunately there's no information
supplied with regards to bug fixes or improvements ? Also should I use the
Windows update tool or use the bootable CD option it's just I don't feel safe
flashing under Windows XP unless this is a standard flawless procedure ?
    cheers,
    Richard S.

    Hi Richard
Richard do you have some problems with your unit? If everything works fine I do not see any reason for BIOS update.
If you think that BIOS update is necessary you can try Windows based Bios Update but please check first Toshiba BIOS-Update Description before proceeding.

  • BIOS update for a6514f

Hello all! First allow me to expresss my appreciation in any effort to assis me with this perplexing question. So I have a Pavilion a6514f which I have upgraded to windows 7 ult 64bit that I would like to do some timkering with - in particular, I would like to do some modest overclocking. Now, in prepping for this I have downloaded SiSandra to help me determine the PLL among other information. The hardware examination revealed that the 5.27 BIOS I downloaded from HP does not actually contain the latest microcode data for the processor and sisandra recommended I find the latest BIOS update with the correct information for the processor. I understand the risks of phlashing a BIOS that is not OEM but as this was my last hope before investing in a new machine I was hoping to extend the life of this one for my gaming purposes if possible. The mobo is the Foxconn NAPA. What should I do, phlash direct from manufacturer? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
BIOS level 3.27 is the latest bios level posted by HP.
HP doesn't offer overclock settings in the bios.
The HP a6514f is really not well suited for gaming as the memory dimms and PCI-E slot are major obstacles to modern gaming performance requirements.
EDITED:  I had a similar PC with the E8400 and faster memory dimms but I found that the gaming performance did not suit my requirements.
