Bug in Lightroom 3 Develop window?

When working on a JPG image in the main Develop window the image displays fine until I make an adjustment on the right hand tool pane.
As soon as I move one of the sliders the image turns jagged and blocky - only correctable by viewing 100% and back again (clicking to magnify and zoom back out again).  The problem re-occurs every time you make another adjustment.
I'm using an Intel 2.8GHz iMac on OS X 10.5.8 with 4GB RAM.  Lightroom 2 never had this problem so it must be something in my LR3 upgrade.
Has anyone else experienced this problem too?  Any suggestions as to what might be the cause appreciated.
Thanks,
Nathan

I have done a fresh install of Lightroom 3.0 on a "new" PC. I use a dual display (1600x1200 + 1280*1024)
Same bug !
I have made Snapshot's of my lightroom.

  • Bug in Lightroom 3 - Folder Browsing Selecting Incorrect Text Case

I seem to have stumbled upon a bug in Lightroom 3. I was at first wondering why, when I had Auto Import enabled, no images were appearing in the Lightroom Catalog, even though they were being copied to the _Inbox folder which I created on my QNAP NAS to contain them. However, after the import had finished, I would Sync the folder and there they were.
This was very confusing until today, when I noticed a seemingly identical folder in the Folder dialog shown in the first image. This one *was* receiving the Auto-Imported files as well, except that this one was updating the Lightroom catalog correctly.
What is the difference between them?  The second (working) Auto Import folder has the folder 'files' in lower case. This causes Lightroom to see them as different. Presumably this is for Unix support. This is logical. The QNAP NAS device is Linux based after all.
However, when I tried to correct the folder path entry in the auto-import dialog, it displays the 'files' folder in the wrong case (lower) even though both the QNAP folder browser and Windows Explorer display it with initcaps as 'Files'.  See other images below demonstrating this.
So I'm stuck. As the Lightroom Auto-Import folder browser displays the folder in the wrong case, Lightroom will always see this folder as two different folders, even though they're the same. I can't rename the folder in lower case, or I risk losing all the Lightroom edits I've carried out against thousands of images in the folder named as 'Files'.  Anyway, I *WANT* it named in upper case - this is an Adobe bug, not a QNAP or Windows bug.
See that Windows sees the folder name with initial capital:
See that the QNAP file browser sees the folder name with an initial capital:
See that the QNAP share manager sees the shared folder in upper case:
See that the Adobe Browser sees it in lower case for some inexplicable reason:

Thanks for your post and sorry you're also experience this two-folders-in-LR but only-one-at-the-Finder-level problem.
It looks like I've finally solved this problem, but I suspect I did so the hard way ... if I even understand where in the process things were fixed. As previously posted, when I tried to "move" one folder in LR into the other, LR got confused and deleted the entire contents of one of them! This was the existing one I had been using. Thousands of photos gone! I searched the hard drive and even used disk recovery software but, no, they had vanished. I luckily retrieved these photos from a backup drive, so that's good, but it makes one nervous to fiddle around with this particular problem.
Anyway, BEFORE I imported the new photos from the back-up drive, I first deleted LR prefs and in the process stumbled upon old LR prefs from LR2 and LR3 Beta. Cleaned them all out -- including LR prefs -- and wondered if that had anything to do with the problem. Then rather than Import>Copy the photos, I worked at the Finder level and copied them into position in the <2010> folder, retaining the month and date folder structure. This is at the Finder level. Then in LR, I used Import>Add and the photos properly were added to the existing <2010> folder (the newer of the two that was still there after the disaster ... the new one that LR is intent on importing into). It all works now.
Hope I've written that so you can follow along. Don't know if that will help you in your situation. If you have questions, please let me know.
Good luck, but don't work without a backup, OK?
    Best,

  • Rather significant BUG in Lightroom 3.0-3.2

Ok, I have found a really annoying bug in Lightroom. It was not there in 2.0, but is in 3.0 and 3.2.  (I use the MAC version)
When in the library module,  if you select a number of images and switch to the survey view.   You cannot mark individual images as rejected.   I have tried the following.
    1.  Highlight an image and hit X and ALL images are marked rejected.
    2.  Zoom in on an image and use arrow keys to switch between images and mark X,  ALL images are rejected.
    3.  Actually click on an individual rejected flag under a single image, and again.  All images in the survey view are marked as rejected.
    Other instances of this bug:
-You can click on a rating on any individual image and it works fine,  however if you hit the number of the rating,  (4 for instance), then ALL images are ranked as four stars.
-If you either click on the color rating or hit 6-0, then ALL images are flagged with a color.
This bug effectively ruins survey mode.  In previous versions survey mode was a great way to pull up images that are similar and to go through them, if you wanted to reject one, you would hit X and only that image was rejected...    Now,  there is no good way to rank and flag images in survey mode... The ONLY way it works is to click on an individual dot under an image to rate, but don't hit the number, or it will apply to all selected.
I can see it doing this if you are in the normal Grid or Loupe view, then it should apply to all selected, but survey mode should not behave this way.  Please go back to the way it was in previous versions.
    Thanks

In previous versions activating Auto Sync required the use of a modifier key and even then was only available in Develop module. However, following representations it was added to the Library module. A switch was added to the Synchronize button and an enabling command added to the Metadata menu. These so called improvements were intended to make the feature more discoverable and flexible. Unfortunately, they also make it more easier to screw up multiple images whilst leaving the wondering what they did wrong.

  • The main develop module controls have disappeared from the develop window.  How do I recover them?

The main develop module controls have disappeared from the develop window.  How do I recover them?  I'm working with Lightroom 5.3.  The missing controls are the sliders for exposure, contrast, clarity, etc.  I must have inadvertantly clicked something that made them disappear but nothing I've tried brings them back.  I've never had this experience in the years I've been using Lightroom (since version 1.1).

Right-click on any other item Tone Curve for ex., and check on "Basic" if that's what you are missing.
If you miss the complete Develop module right-click any other item  Library for ex and put a check on Develop

  • Aspect ratio suddenly changes in LR develop window without user interaction

I imported some Nikon NEF images with sidecar JPEGs using NikonView/NikonTransfer (rotate image turned on). Afterwards I imported the images into Lightroom (copy to new locacation). The LR option "treat JPEG files next to RAW files as seperate" is turned off.
I can see every image with correct orientation in the Lightroom Library.
But for 2 images when I switch to LR Develop the aspect ratio suddenly changes in film strip and large image display. The image is a 2:3 image but in Develop window it is shown as 3:2 image (not rotated but errorneously shrinked/stretched). That is really strange. I did nothing else than switching between Library and Develop! No rotation, no crop, nothing.
I can toggle between Library and Develop window: The image is shown 2:3 in Library and 3:2 in Develop.
This behaviour occurs for 2 images, not for all images.

For some reason it just started to work now. Have no idea what didn't work before.

  • Bootcamp Version 3.1 --List of bug reports for the Development Team to fix.

Please create a list of bug fixes for the Development Team to address in the next version of Bootcamp (e.g., 3.2). This thread assumes that all users are presently running Bootcamp 3.1:
    1. Sound should not be muted every time a user reboots a newer MacBook laptop using Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-bit. My sound is always muted when I load Windows 7 Ultimate, and I have to manually turn it on each time.
    2. Left and right clicks on the trackpad should work out of the box using Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-bit. My left click operates a little less than 50 percent of the time -- i.e., I click it and nothing happens. I had to switch to "tap to click" as a workaround, however, I prefer the good old solid left click.
Please step right up and add to the bug report list so that the developers have a checklist of issues that need to be fixed. When the bug report list has grown to a respectable size, I'll send an official letter to the C.E.O. to facilitate the bug reports reaching the development team.

FWIW, I don't have the symptoms you describe. So I think before you call a symptom a "bug" I think you should confirm that it is indeed a "bug" and not a configuration, software, or hardware issue caused by something such as incorrect installation, incorrect setup, or any other third party or user caused action.
Also, FWIW, I don't think this forum is intended to be used as a survey for gathering "bugs". Apple has an official feedback page where they gather user experiences such as yours. I think if you post your "bugs" there they will get faster attention than posting them here in this user-to-user help forum.

  • I can't open Lightroom 5 in Windows 7 notes Catalog Error

I can't open Lightroom 5 in Windows 7. I keep getting a window titled "Confirm" and it notes an "Unexpected error opening catalog" and "The catalog could not be opened due to an unextected error".
    3 choices come up:
Try Again          Choose A Different Cataog          Exit
I pick Try Again and it keeps cycling back
I pick choose a different Catalog and I get another window with my last Catalog and nothing else. I get 4 options:
Choose A Different Catalog          Create A New Catalog          Open          Quit
The last catalog is the only one that is in this Window and is thus the only one selected. I try to Open it and it cycles again. I try to choose a different one and I can select older Catalogs but nothing happens. I try to create a new Catalog and I can do so but when I create one it's as though it was never created as I can't find it anywhere. Please help!

I see that this was a while ago, and that you never received a reply....but did you figure out a solution? I'm experiencing the same thing.

  • BUG in Oracle SQL Developer 3.0.04 on the "generating DLL" with comments?

I'm newbie on oracle, but I think that I found out a bug in Oracle SQL Developer version 3.0.04 on the "generating DLL" tool using "comments".
I will describe the steps that I gave:
I created a view, but after I test it I had to change my “where” condition, so I comment the old code and then I wrote the new “where” condition below. After I done that I tried to look at the sql code of my view using “generating DLL” tool, but oracle sql developer only shown me half of the code, a lot of code were missing. Then I began with some test trying to understand what happen and I notice that if I put an invalid sql code in my comment the generating DLL start working with no problems, for example(pseudo-code):
(COMMENT WITH VALID SQL CODE the "Generating SQL" don't work:)
    CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW <user>.<view_name> ( <column1>,<column2> )
    AS
    SELECT column1, column2
    FROM table1
    INNER JOIN
    (SELECT
    FROM table2
    INNER JOIN .....
    INNER JOIN ....
    --where time_stamp = (select max(time_stamp) from .....)
    WHERE time_stamp >= TRUNC(sysdate)
    ) t1 ON t1.ID = ....
    AND ..... >= TRUNC(sysdate)
    ORDER BY ....
Generating DLL returns this(when the error occurs):
    CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW <user>.<view_name> ( <column1>,<column2> )
    AS
(COMMENT WITH VALID SQL CODE the "Generating SQL" work with no problems:)
    CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW <user>.<view_name> ( <column1>,<column2> )
    AS
    SELECT column1, column2
    FROM table1
    INNER JOIN
    (SELECT
    FROM table2
    INNER JOIN .....
    INNER JOIN ....
    --where
    WHERE time_stamp >= TRUNC(sysdate)
    ) t1 ON t1.ID = ....
    AND ..... >= TRUNC(sysdate)
    ORDER BY ....
I believe that "Generating DLL" tool have some problem with the comments, I also used /*...*/ to comment but the problem is still active.
I notice as well that if I started to add some more comments along the code, the conditions migth change, so I think the problem is related with "comments" code.
Would you mind telling me if this is a real bug or if I'm doing anything wrong.
    Thank you in advance,
    Rodrigo Campos

    Hi Rodrigo,
Thank you for reporting this. The only bug I see currently logged on a comment affecting the generated View DDL involves ending the last line of the definition with a comment, which treats the ending semi-colon (even if on a different line) as part of the comment. That is actually related to a low-priority bug against an Oracle database API.
Unfortunately, your pseudo-code is a bit complex. Trying a few quick, simpler tests against the standard HR schema did not reproduce the issue. I tried INNER JOIN, and nested SELECTs. It would help greatly if you could provide a test case compilable against one of the standard schema, like HR or SCOTT.

You have to pay for major version upgrades, like LR 3 to LR 5.
You can purchase the upgrade from Adobe for 79 US Dollars from Products, make sure you have your Lightroom 3 serial number available (and maybe cheaper from other sellers)

I am using sql developer windows 7 64-bits version 64-3.2.20.09.87-no-jre.

Sometimes when I use numeric pad to enter numbers, double entries appears on the first digit.

    The Problem
We are currently using Oracle SQL Developer 1.2.1.3213 to administer to the oracle database, unfortunately, this version does not play well with a 64 bit environ. The current airbus standard for Oracle SQL Developer which is happy with Windows 7 64 bit is version 3.1.07, again unfortunately, this version does not support versions of the Oracle database less than I think it is 8. Budget precludes the option of upgrading to a newer version of dbase.
    The Question
Is there a version of Oracle SQL Developer that will meet our needs for windows 7 while remaining on the same version of the oracle database, or are there other competing products that you could recommend that will fit the bill. The product will require a GUI I don’t want to go back to entering SQL at the command line.
    regards
Kevin" this version does not support versions of the Oracle database less than I think it is 8."
What do you mean by this statement?
SQL Developer is just a client. Clients do NOT have to be exactly version matched to a database. I am running SQLDeveloper 3.2 on a Win 7 Pro 64-bit desktop and my databases are a mix of 10.2.0.4 and 11.2

  • Problems printing smaller sizes in Lightroom 1.4 Windows Vista-64bit, R800

    Hi All,
I am having problems printing smaller sizes in Lightroom v1.4, WIndows Vista-64 bit, on an Epson R800 (driver version 6.5cAs, the latest one) . When I try to set the printer settings in both the page set up and the printer setup, it displays as 5X7, but somehow when it actually goes to print, the print dialogue box reverts back to 8.5 X11. I can print 5X7 in CS3 with no problems on the same machine. The prints coming from light room look ok, they are just the wrong size for the page. Some how it appears that lightroom is not able to change the printing size defaults from 8.5X11. The prints in lightroom are fine as long as I use 8.5X11 or print in CS3. Any help to fix this would be great.

make sure your ventilation ducts are clean from dirt, Vista put lot more strain on every component of your laptop, so the temperature increase should be normal. Xp is lot less demanding on computer compoents, however it does sound like your heat ventilation fan and fins are clogged with dusts. So open up the laptop to clean away any dusts that maybe there.
