Bug in Message app and instant previews

sometime message app freezes and do not work properly and sometime instant previews do not properly work as well.
need some suggestion or please provide new OS

Issue with Messages App and disk usage

Hi there,
Has everyone ever experienced this weird bug?
Everytime I launch Messages App, my available disk space goes down almost by 15 Gb, making my hard drive instantly full, and my computer unusable.
The only solution I found is to force quit Messages App, and never use it again
I have a MacBook Retina, that I bought a month ago.
It's been working super fine since I got it, apart from that stupid bug that appeared two days ago.

I would start with a PRAM reset
Shut down the computer.
Restart it holding down Apple/CMD ( or ⌘)+ALT( ⌥)+P+R Keys until you have heard three Start Up Bongs.
DO you have notion of how many Conversations Messages may be trying to show in the left hand column of the Message window ?
(Saves Messages and the iMessages database are already held on the computer so I don't really see this as the issue)

Camera bug in messaging app

When using the camera in the messaging app to take and send someone a picture on the new iOS software, I must completely close out and restart app to use camera within the messaging app to send a new picture again... Basically the new iOS software glitches after one use and freezes the camera in the messaging app...

To start troubleshooting this issue where your camera becomes unresponsive when taking a photo from Messages, please go ahead and first force close the Messages app, and Camera app if it's running, and then reset the iPhone by following the steps in the articles below.

Bug: No Cursor Focus with Instant Preview Message Replies

When you receive an Instant Preview Message and click on this notification (not shortcut reply but click on the notification itself for bbm or text messages) this brings you into the Hub to reply to that message.
The cursor focus is now in the reply field blinking however the typing focus is not here. You must explicitly click in the reply field to re-set the cursor focus. Now you can type to reply.
Is this a known bug? Is there a fix?

cor-el, Thank you for the quick response. However, I am not a techie by any stretch and am totally disabled. Your answer basically made no sense to me, sorry. I also have something called Session Manager, in this case irrelevant as my FF page never stayed up long enough for me to do anything even to click on Restore.
I have in the meantime, simply reverted back to an installation of 3.6.8 and everything is working fine right now. I hope others will find benefit from your response as it is way too deep for me to venture.

Push notifications from Messages App and other apps

I've got my first Blackberry (Bold 9790), I have a problem: I don't know what I did before during set up etc. but now I have always doubles push notifications, for exemple, if I receive a message on Whatsapp I get a notification from Whatsapp App and from the Messages app, same for Facebook etc this is annoying me a lot, how can I restore Messages to show me notifications only for SMS and e-mails??? Or how can I get only one notification for all things happen and not receive notifications twice? thank you!!

UPDATEIn Whatsapp I unpluggged th eoption "show chat in the messages folder" and now when I get a new Whatsapp message, in the home screen I get the notification from the app (and not from Messages) but without the preview?!

Messages.app and Yahoo account no workie?

I don't really use my yahoo accound for texting, but it's still kind of frustrarting to find that messages.app rejects my (valid) password at login, and is the only OS X application I've noticed doing so... So does anyone know how to fix this malfunction, though?

actually, never mind, it fixed itself on its own.

HT203261 when i use any messaging app and apply any icon on the emoji keyboard, the messenger app crashes/exits to the home page.

i encountered an issue with using the emoji keyboard. every time i am using a messenger app and insert an icon in the messaging bar, the app crashes/exits back to the home page. what can be causing this?

Messages app and transcripts archive

Why can I not find a way to view my past chat transcripts using the Messages app?? This should be a very very basic command yet I can't seem to find it anywhere. I often need to refer back to old discussions. Am I blind and cannot see this option right under my nose or what??
I can manually open finder, set finder to display my "Library" folder, then browse to:
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.iChat/Data/Library/Messages/Archive/{date}/{trans cript}.ichat
I would think I should just be able to right click a users icon and get the option to "view archived messages" or something to that effect.

I still use this page as Messages is iChat under the hood and the Numbering system continued where iChat left off.
However this page was never that good at keeping up with iChat versions (It still does not list iChat 6 and the OS Versions are updated from another list of pages that list the OS versions)

I deleted my Messages app, and don't know how to restore it.

I was having trouble getting my Messages app to open, and so used AppCleaner to delete it, thinking I could just re-download it. I can't find a way to re-download it, so I'm currently stuck without the app. Any suggestions to get it back? I'm running the latest version of Mountain Lion.

Boot up holding command-r keys into your Recovery Volume.
The screen should give you these choices...
Restore from TM backup
Reinstall Mac OS X
Get help online
Disk Utility
Choose Reinstall OS X. This will be an install "in place" and shouldn't effect any of your own data or settings.

Application icon in List View - anyone to view as app and not preview?

I've noticed something new in Leopard that is bugging me.
The small icons when you do a List View shows a preview of the document - not a small logo of the application it uses. So for instance, if I have a list view of a folder with a mix of Pages, Numbers, Word, TextEdit, etc. - I can't do a quick scan and find just the files associated with a certain program - say Word.
Is there any way to change these back to the old Tiger layout?

I tried the rollover trick, and it apparently only works when you rollover the attachments at the bottom on the email. It would be nice if that worked at the top of the email when I click the little black attachment triangle. Scrolling to the bottom of the email to hover over links isn't convenient.
Also, the hover-over filename isn't quickly digestible because it gives you additional superfluous information such as downloaded status, mime type and "Control click for menu". See screenshot:

The QuickLook option isn't what I want because I need to find things by filename, often from a large batch of attachments which I have never seen before, so seeing them as thumbnails doesn't really help.
So, from those suggestions I guess the unfortunate answer is Mail.app doesn't have a simple filename view and I have to use something else.

Bridge Message app and Torch (AT&T) continuous startup loop.

So this bug has been with me from receipt of the tablet. First versions: PB is 1.0.3.1868, Torch is AT&T bundle 2342, Bridge is 1.0.0.83.
Has anyone experienced the following transitional Messages behavior?
You successfully make the Bridge connection and all Bridge sub-apps (as I call them) work as expected. So Messages, Contacts, Bridge Browser, Calendar, BBM, MemoPad, Tasks and Bridge Files are just fine. Then typically within 48 hours of use I will launch the Messages while connected to my Torch and the app attempts to launch and I'll see the beginnings of the 2 panes with the spinning green circle spinning and then screen goes grey with no panes showing for 2 seconds and then back to that same app start screen with the panes and the spinning green circle and then back to grey screen again over and over.
I've attempted the hard starts, soft starts, Bluetooth connection rebuilds, Bluetooth MAP options that, Bridge rebuilds and the like associated with the Bridge error messages people have been posting and none solve the issue.
The only way I've found to get Messages working again is to use the Desktop Manager Update method effectively blowing out the tablet and rebuilding from scratch. Also if I do this update method AND restore my backup I get exactly the same problem.
I hope someone may have at least experienced this and I'm not losing my mind.
Any feedback would be appreciated.

ok so i found a way to make my messages work on the bridge what i did was a security wipe on my playbook wiping everything to default status i had downloaded the blackberry bridge app from this forum http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-PlayBook/Get-BlackBerry-Bridge-for-your-BlackBerry...
so after downloading the bridge on the blackberry 9800 i waited for the security wipe on the playbook, when done it will update it'sself done. it will ask you to setup the bridge
and you just press continue scan the barcode to link them together and done they are linked
ok blackberry messenger i deleted the messenger via desktop manager from the 9800 then installed the original version i again updated via app world new version so the app can appear on the playbook and bingo everything works bbm has a bit of problems since you have to click it like 6 times until the **bleep** thing stops crashing and finally kicks in so that is a problem.

Sony Xperia z3: Cant transfer messages, apps and so on

Hi! I have transfered sucessfully all my content from iPhone 5 to my Xperia z3. I used Sony Bridge for Mac doing that. It said, that in the end it would be a "pop up" on my phone giving me further instructions how to open the apps, messages on the phone - but It never came one.I can see that the content is over, because it now have 9GB less memory than before, but I have now Idea how I can come in contact with the content. Hi! Just got my Xperia z3 compact today. I have problems syncing my Messages (SMS), calendar and my bookmarks from my iPhone to it. Im using Sony Bridge on my Mac and everything works fine, but this message come up: https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/1375x745q90/633/TGd1aD.jpg Now it is in Swedish (maybe it goes without saying that I'm a swede but the text pretty much says this: "All content you have chosen from your iPhone will be transfered, exept this: MessagesCalendarBookmarks More Information Your Xperia smartphone havent changed. Press continue to transfer all your chosen content, exept the ones named above" I have transfered the data again anad again (and therefore, it says that my xperia havent changed). I can't no matter how much I try to klick on the "more information-link". Nothing happens when I klick on it. Is anyone having any ideas? Sorry for all the spelling misstakes in this post. Message app and browser aren't functioning

I cannot open my message application all day long. It's just remains "thinking" and suddenly it closes, almost the same with the browser.
Is anyone having the same issue?

Step 1. Reboot pb by holding down On and minus volume 15secs, then try.
Step 2. Backup your data to pc then Settings, Security wipe (reinstalls OS2 from wifi.)

How to initiate a conversation on google talk using the messages app? (I have already added my account and enabled it in the preferences menu of the messages app)

After upgrading to Mountain Lion recently, iMessage (through the messages app) works even better. But because the messages app has now completely replaced the former iChat app, it also has the ability to add google (google talk), yahoo and AIM accounts for instant messaging. I have added my gmail account through the prefernces menu in the messages app and have also enabled it. However I'm unable to start a chat with any of my contacts on gtalk. Once I start a new message and type in the concerned person's google email id (which is on my friends list, added through google talk earlier), I get a message saying the person isn't available on iMessage. I don't see any other option to open a new chat window for my google talk contact who are not on iMessage. Is there anything else that can be done or is it only possible to receive messages on google talk via the messages app on Mountain Lion?

Try to do this:
- be sure you have added your GMAIL / GTALK account on Sys pref. Mail Contacts and Calendars
- Open Messages, preferences, Account. Now you should see iMessage, Gtalk and Bonjour. Try to disable iMessage and Bonjour and see if anything changes.

No instant messaging app on my N8

Hi there, I bought my N8 two days ago and I realized there is no instant messaging app or widget!
I read in specs that N8 is having integrated instant messaging and I also watched official Nokia videos on YouTube showing the behavior of the app and of the widget.
So the question is : how come I am not having the instant messaging app and widget on my Nokia N8?

yer, i can confirm its missing from mine. the vid shows the app in the root folder but its not there!! all i can imagine is that it'll be in the next firmware update (hopefully with Swype). the networks get the handset on the 22nd and i bet an update will be out before it ships to them?
