Bug in Offline Tables
I get the following error when I edit offline tables:
Character literals must be enclosed in single quotes
I get this error for a column (Varchar2) with USER as default value. I Seems that JDeveloper doesn't know the keyword USER (which returns the name of the session user).
It seems that this bug also makes it impossible to create database diagrams.
Hi,
Yes, I'm afraid you have hit a known bug (3580690), unfortunately there is no workaround.

BUG - Offline Table Import/Reconcile Issue
JDeveloper 10.1.3.3.0
Windows
After performing an offline table import on tables with indexes, the alter/manual reconcile feature will show the indexes as changed even if they have not been. Even after performing a refresh on the table, the index will still show as changed in the reconcile.Hi,
Yes, this seems like a JDeveloper bug, I have filed bug 5048694 for the issue, I think the default value is too complicated for our validation to handle.
When I tried yo recreate your issue using your column example above, I received 'ORA-01843: not a valid month' error, have you any idea what is wrong with it, or could you post your CREATE TABLE SQL for that Table.

Lisa

10g : Edit Offline Table
about JDeveloper 10g preview (build 1375)
Using "Edit Offline Table" I uncheck "Cannot be NULL" for a column.
If I "Generate SQL Script" for this table and select "Generate SQL to UPDATE the chosen objects", I get:
"The following object(s) were found to be identical to those in the database, and therefore no reconcile is necessary: <table_I_changed>".
But they are NOT identical.
-JanThanks for reporting this. I have logged bug 3168415 to get the problem fixed.

JDev QA -
hi,
I am trying to edit an offline table (from MS SQL SERVER) created with JDeveloper 10g 10.1.2 without success.
Whatever the modification I try, I have always the error message "Columns of type smallint cannot have a size specified" or "Columns of type varchar cannot have a size specified" or "Columns of type int identity cannot have a size specified"
Does anybody have an idea ?
thanks
philHi Phil,
This is because in 10.1.2 Oracle validation checks are being run against the Table's columns.
In 10.1.2 and 10.1.3 Preview Offline Tables were only supported against Oracle Databases.
However in 10.1.3 Production our Foreign Database support has been greatly improved so that you will be able to import from SQL Server, Informix, MySQL, DB2 and SyBase and create/edit Offline Tables against these databases using the valid datatypes for that particular database.
Hope that helps,
Lisa Sherriff

Bug when viewing tables?
There seems to be a bug when viewing tables with identical names in different schemas in SQL Developer. When I view table information in one schema and then go to a table with identical name in another schema the view isn't updated, it still shows the information for the table from the first schema. I have to select another table in the second schema before I select the table I want to look at to get the information correct.
I have the same problem with views, so this is probably the case for all kinds of objects.
Regards,
SveinungI have found that the problem is even more specific. It occurs only when I view schemas in different databases.
I am not sure that I understand what you mean about abstracted script. I have tried to create a simple test case with two scripts, one for each database, that creates a table, inserts some data and creates a view on the table.
I have not found a way to upload files, so I have pasted the contents into this thread along with a description of the steps in the GUI. I have run the scripts on Oracle 10g (10.2.0.3.0) databases.
-- SCRIPT 1
CREATE TABLE test_table
col_1 NUMBER,
col_2 VARCHAR2(6)
INSERT INTO test_table VALUES (1, 'ROW 1')
INSERT INTO test_table VALUES (2, 'ROW 2')
INSERT INTO test_table VALUES (3, 'ROW 3')
INSERT INTO test_table VALUES (4, 'ROW 4')
INSERT INTO test_table VALUES (5, 'ROW 5')
COMMIT
CREATE VIEW test_view AS SELECT * FROM test_table
-- END SCRIPT 1
Run script 1 in some schema in a database.
-- SCRIPT 2
CREATE TABLE test_table
col_1 NUMBER,
col_2 VARCHAR2(6),
col_3 VARCHAR2(12)
INSERT INTO test_table VALUES (1, 'ROW 1', 'COL 3 ROW 1')
INSERT INTO test_table VALUES (2, 'ROW 2', 'COL 3 ROW 2')
INSERT INTO test_table VALUES (3, 'ROW 3', 'COL 3 ROW 3')
INSERT INTO test_table VALUES (4, 'ROW 4', 'COL 3 ROW 4')
INSERT INTO test_table VALUES (5, 'ROW 5', 'COL 3 ROW 5')
INSERT INTO test_table VALUES (6, 'ROW 6', 'COL 3 ROW 6')
INSERT INTO test_table VALUES (7, 'ROW 7', 'COL 3 ROW 7')
COMMIT
CREATE VIEW test_view AS SELECT * FROM test_table
-- END SCRIPT 2
Run script 2 in some schema in another database.
Connect to the two databases in SQL Developer.
Select the table in the first database, then select Data.
Then select the table in the other database. In my system the data are not refreshed. This is also the case when I look at the views.
Hope this description is good enough.

"Refresh from [myConnection]" on offline table
hi
Please consider this scenario.
(1) in SQL*Plus, "create table my_table(col_a varchar2(10), col_b varchar2(10));"
(2) in JDeveloper (10.1.3.3.0), drop "my_table" on a database diagram, creating an offline table
(3) in SQL*Plus, "drop table my_table;"
(4) in SQL*Plus, "create table my_table(col_a varchar2(10));"
(5) in JDeveloper on the offline table node "MY_TABLE", select "Refresh from [myConnection]" from the context menu
(6) answer the question "Refreshing the object from myConnection will lose any changes made offline. Are you sure?" with "Yes"
(7) nothing happens, the offline table "MY_TABLE" still has colums "COL_A" and "COL_B"
What am I missing here, why isn't the offline table "refreshed" after step (6)?
many thanks

When I come to create an offline table, I cant click past the constraints dialog the application just sits there if I click next or finish. 10 G Preview.

1) I can add the table with the columns - but when I come to add constraints it wont save.
2) It appears to be related to the constraints and not the columns. I can add any type of column but as soon as I add a constraint the problem occurs

Edit Offline Table : Datatype : TIME
hi
In the Edit Offline Table dialog on the Column Information pane it is possible to configure a Datatype in the Column Properties area.
There is a Datatype TIME in the dropbox.
Where can I find more information about when and how to use this TIME Datatype?
many thanks
Jan VerveckenThanks Lisa
I've found this
"Oracle Database SQL Reference 10g Release 1 (10.1) : Datatypes"
http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14117_01/server.101/b10759/sql_elements001.htm
But there is nothing in it about a datatype TIME.
If I use JDeveloper to create an offline table that uses the datatype TIME in a column, JDeveloper can generate a script, but the database isn't able to run it. I get "ORA-00902: invalid datatype" on an Oracle 10.1.0.2.0 database.
Has anyone ever used this datatype from JDeveloper? Or does anyone know why this datatype TIME is in that dropbox?
thanks

[BUG?] af:table table empty after descending sort and remove
Hi,
I think i found a bug.
I have an af:table binded to an arraylist in a backingbean. This List consist of an object that represents two strings (value 1 and 2).
Now when the table is loaded and I sort descending on one of the columns. After sorting i'll try to remove a row. The correct row is published to the bean with an af:setPropertyListener and removed from the arraylist. But when the table is rendered again there are no values in the table. But the arraylist still has all remaining values which will be shown after a sort again.
Fun fact: it only happens when sorting descending.
Anyone got an idea?

audit-core oracle.ide.audit.core 11Hi Harry (and others),
I have seen similar behavior. It seems like the client side rendering for some reason has a hard time processing the collection model wrapping the ArrayList in this particular case. The table renders empty. After sorting in ascending order, the rows are all back (visible) again.
Is anyone aware of issues with the rich table based directly on ArrayList (in combination with a changing set of values and/or sorting)? (seems like a corner case but is still not uncommon). Is there any indication that wrapping the ArrayList in a CollectionModel ourselves might be required?
Harry: do you know whether this issue is introduced with PS3 (11.1.1.4) or already existed in previous releases?
kind regards,
Lucas -
Bug 6002713: Describe table@db_link gives an error that the object does not
Not sure if this is correct place to report on a known bug, can't seem to find a bug site/database on the SQL Developer home page.
Anyway in SQL Developer 1.2.1.32.13 release notes it says that the bug that stops you describing tables via a database link has been resolved.
This doesn't seem to be the case, well 100% fixed anyway.
The following statement works in SQLPlus but not in SQLDeveloper.
DESCRIBE schema_name.object_name@database_link;
You still get the message
ERROR: object object_name@database_link does not exist
It looks like the schema_name component is removed before the describe is executed?Hi Cliff,</br>
<p>The Release Notes list the main known issues. So the bug #6002713 is a known issue and not a bug fixed. There is a separate Bugs Fixed list.
<p>Not all bugs logged are published. I have now published this bug, so you can track it through Metalink.
<p>Finally, while SQL Developer is a free product, you are supported through Metalink, and hence Oracle Support, if you have a Database Support contract. This detail is available from the "Pricing, Support & Licensing Questions" document on the SQL Developer page on OTN.

Bug in the table selection size
An annoying bug in Table controls (LV 8.5/Windows XP/ MacOS 10.5)
When dealing with whole rows/colums (click in the row/column header), the Table Selection Size is always wrong :
when columns are selected, the overall table size is returned,
when rows are selected, the right row number is returned, but the column number is set to 1 !..
The attached vi shows the problem.

Table select bug.vi 17 KBSince this bug was a showstopper for my application, I spent some time trying to find a workaround...
Found one by accident. I don't understand why it works : it should not do anything :
Detect a mouseUp event in the row/column headers, then read the Selection start position and write it back in the... Selection start position (ie : do nothing) ! That's enough to get the right value out of the Selection size...
The attached vi illustrate the above story.

Texas Hold'em bug : last 2 tables crash and take your money
I just encountered a pretty nasty bug with with the Hold'em game. After accumulating around 300k I went to try my luck at the 50k table. The game took me back to the menu of the Hold'em game. I tried again, same thing. I decided to try the last table instead and it once again took me to the menu. The kicker though is that the game took my money before booting me back to the menu.
I lost all my winnings. Pretty annoying. If anything it would be nice if the game could validate that the table loaded properly before taking your money for it.
Some details:
- I was playing my own music with headphones on, in other words, the game sounds were not active. (It might have reached the end of the playlist at the time though, I don't remember)
- It was my first time trying to play those two tables.
- It was not the first table I played in the session. I played a couple of tournaments on the Vegas table first.
- I tried all other tables at some point and none ever did this. Only the last two.

If you are unhappy loosing, when you return to the statistics screen hold down the home button until the application unloads. None of the statistics are saved and when you restart you have all your money back. -
Bug With Quoted Table Names?
I think I've encountered a bug in Oracle 9.2.0.1.0. If I create table with its name in quotes, I can't access it again unless I also use the name in quotes. But, in DBA_OBJECTS the table's name shows up without quotes.
For example:
CREATE TABLE "avalys" (test number);
SELECT * FROM "avalys"; --Works
SELECT * FROM avalys; --Doesn't
Any idea what the problem could be? Am I just not supposed to quote table names (I need to, because one of our tables is a reserved word, and unfortunately we can't change the name of the table). When you put quotes around a table name, you're telling Oracle to store the table name in a case-sensitive fashion, rather than the default case-insensitive fashion. When you use a non-quoted identifier, Oracle automatically upcases the whole thing and tries to resolve the name. Thus, you can do the following (not the uppercase table name in quotes)
SQL> create table "FOO" (n1 number);
Table created.
SQL> select * from foo;
no rows selected
because "select * from foo" implicitly upcases foo. If you declare a table with some lowercase letters, i.e.
SQL> create table "FOo" (n1 number);
Table created.
you'll only be able to access it with the same partially lowercase string, i.e.
SQL> select * from "FOo"
no rows selected

Possible bug? Nested tables and quantity fields in the nested table.
Hey guys,
I have witnessed a weird bug, maybe someone can clarify this for me.
1. Create a nested table. The inner table contains a quantity field of type DZIEME (FROM VBAP-ZIEME).
2. Create your interface and just put this table in the import section. Try to activate. It will work.
3. Create an adobe form for it and a program and execute it. You'll get a short dump saying that VBAP-ZIEME is unknown and that there are errors in the dynamically generated function.
Second test.
1. Create a nested table. The outer table contains a quantity field of type DZIEME (FROM VBAP-ZIEME).
2. Create your interface and just put this table in the import section. Try to activate. It will NOT work.
You have to make the addition of the quantity fields in Currency/Quantity Fields.
From this I see that the checker, doesn't look into nested tables for quantity/currency fields and just activates the interface.
Third test
1. Create a nested table. The inner table contains a quantity field of type DZIEME (FROM VBAP-ZIEME).
2. Create your interface:
2.a. Put this table in the import section.
2.b. Declare the nested Quantity field in the Currency/Quantity Fields section, using the autofiller (the buttons to the right of the field)
2.c Try to activate. It will work.
3. Create an adobe form for it and a program and execute it. You'll get a short dump which for some reason has no info.
From this, I understand that the Currency/Quantity Fields section may not declare the quantity fields, from nested tables, correctly.
What do you guys think? What am I doing wrong?
Thanks,@Anne Kathrine P...
By nested tables I mean creating table types, in the dictionary (se11) then in the interface>Import section adding a parameter X TYPE B_T.
i.e.
Structure A
Table type of structure A, A_T
Structure B containing a field of table type A
Table type B of structure B, B_T.
The issue can be easily solved for Z tables by changing the component type from quantity to decimal type. -
Oracle BUG (CASE + remote tables + inline view)
Oracle 9.2.0.8
BUG: Oracle inserts NULL when we use CASE statement in the SELECT query and we join a remote table with inline view.
Script:
CREATE TABLE t1 (a number(19,4)OK.
SELECT (case when b = 1 then c else d end)
FROM t2@Remote LEFT JOIN
(SELECT a FROM t3@Remote) q ON (t2.a = q.a)123
456
789
3 rows selected.
INSERT INTO TABLE t1 (a)
SELECT (case when b = 1 then c else d end)
FROM t2@Remote LEFT JOIN
(SELECT a FROM t3@Remote) q ON (t2.a = q.a)3 rows inserted.
SELECT * FROM t1<null>
<null>
<null>
3 rows selected
Oracle inserts the correct values if I:
* replace the CASE with DECODE
* join with table not with an inline view
* join local tables
Someone with registration in the Metalink can post the bug.
