Bug in Oracle Forms

Why I cannot see the cursor when locate it into text items with justification set to 'Right'? I can see it if the property set to 'Left' ( = 'Start' for default).
How can I see the cursor?

Ensure that you have applied the latest patch for your Forms/Reports developer. I know the latest patch fixed many open bugs. I do not know if this one was one of them. Hope that will fix it (if this is a real bug). You can check the bug list if you can access the Oracle Metalink.

  • Bug in Oracle Forms 9i triggers

    I've found a bug in oracle forms 9i. It happens when you have a select query inside a when-validate-item trigger and in that query you opt to show an alert when the query has encountered an exception...
    When that trigger is fired, the alert will show even if the query returns a record(which means that it does not go through the exception). The solution is to recompile the said trigger.
    Is this bug present in the other versions of Oracle forms?
    Is there a patch for this bug?

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply.
    I've consulted with some of my colleagues who have been using Oracle forms for more than 5 years now, and they said that the bug seems to randomly appears...The code works fine in the local environemnt (forms builder) and in the AS itself (compiled in Unix) but after sometime, the bug appears and they just compiled the trigger where the code of the alert is in...
    Is there any logical explanation of why compiling a trigger (without changing any code) solves this problem?

  • Bug in Oracle Forms Builder 6i?

    When converting from binary to text in Oracle Forms Builder, the conversion is inexplicably dropping a WHEN-VALIDATE-RECORD trigger for one of my data blocks.
    I am running Oracle Forms Builder 6i on Windows XP with the latest patches. I couldn't find anything in the bug search that resembled this problem. Is this a known issue? Is there a workaround?
    Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

    I just tested this in 10.1.2.2 on XP and could not reproduce the problem. It is unlikely that this is a bug and if it was, it is very likely that it was already corrected.
    Ensure that you are using 6.0.8.26. If you are using Oracle Applications you should be using 6.0.8.27.
    Also, Error Correction Support for stand-alone Forms 6.0.x users ended long ago, which means that a patch cannot be provided for version 6.x.

  • Bug in Oracle Outlook Connector 10,1,1,0,2 (1431) and Oracle Forms 6i Rel 2

    Hello,
    I installed Oracle Outlook Connector. 10,1,1,0,2 (1431)
    We are using Oracle Collaboration Suite on a 10g database.
    On the Desktop.
    I am using.
    a) MS/OFFICE Outlook 2003.
    b) Oracle Forms and Reports 6i Release 2.
    c) Oracle instance client 10.1
    d) Windows XP HOME SP2.
    What happens?
    1) Oracle Run Time Forms 6i and Oracle/MS Outlook 2003 run fine(Work) when I run them ONE AT A TIME!
    2) When I run them together(At the same time) I receive this error message. FRM-40735 ORA-06508.
    I have narrowed it down to an Oracle Connector 10g problem.
    How did I do that?
    In XP Home you can create multi-user accounts.
    I created a new user account this time I connected to Microsoft Exchange Server 2000.
    Results. Oracle runtime 6i works at the same time as MS Outlook 2003.
    I am able to use both Programs at the same time. Without any error messages.
    Next Step.
    I created a new user account and this time I used an Oracle Connector 10.1g for MS Outlook 2003.
    Results: Same error message as before. Ran the application(s) at the same time. FRM-40735 and ORA-06508
    Please help with any ideas.
    Thank you
    Dennis

    The product managers look through the forum threads periodically. Some more regularly than others. Since I only look at the forum about once a week, I'm probably the least regular of the PMs. Development also scans the forum, but less regularly.
    If you have urgent issues that requires action/response from Oracle, it is better to open an SR with Oracle Support.
    Hope that helps,

  • Sending data to EXCEL from Oracle Forms 6.0 URGENT!!!!!

    Dear all,
    I have a problem to which I hope to get a solution from anyone
    out there...
    The problem is as follows:
    I have a form that contains some data. Now this data I need to
    transfer to an excell sheet. I tried to do so through report
    builder (6.0) but every time I try to convert my report I get a
    general protection fault. So instead I'm sending the data to a
    text file through text_io built in then reopening the text file
    from excel. Isn't there a better way to do it? ie sending the
    data stright from forms to excel?
    Thanks in advance

  • Calling reports from oracle forms 9i

    Hi
    I succeded to call reports from oracle forms but for I have a problem for only one report so I can't call it. this a part of the code I'm using :

    pl_id2 := get_parameter_list(pl_name2);
    if (Id_Null(pl_id2) )THEN
    pl_id2 := Create_Parameter_List(pl_name2);
    IF NOT Id_Null(pl_id2) THEN
         add_parameter(pl_id2,'mois',TEXT_PARAMETER,:mois);
    END IF;
    end if;
    IF NOT Id_Null(pl_id2) THEN
    if(:mois is not null) then
    v_rep := RUN_REPORT_OBJECT('My_report',pl_id2);
    message(v_rep);
    rep_status := REPORT_OBJECT_STATUS(v_rep);
    WHILE rep_status in ('RUNNING','OPENING_REPORT','ENQUEUED') LOOP

    ELSE
    message('Error when running report');
    END IF;
    end;
    the problem I've remarqued is that the function message(v_rep) is always returning the value :'repserver_0'.
    so when I execute the previous code I'm getting the 2 messages : 'repserver_0' and 'Error when running report'.
    Rq: the report my_report is running very well in report builder.
    does someone see where is the problem so can help me??
    thanx.

    Hi,
    This usually happens when the report fails on the report server. To obtain details on why a particular report has failed, use the showjobs page :
    http://server.domain:PORT/reports/rwservlet/showjobs?server=repserver
    and check the detailed error occured.
    This is logged as Bug:3017948. It is marked to be fixed in version 9.0.4 (Reports 10g) and also has one-off patches for version 9.0.2.3 on Windows platforms. If you need further assistance about patches, please raise a Service Request (SR) with Support via Metalink (http://metalink.oracle.com).

  • Oracle Forms Patch 10 for 8i

    Does Oracle Forms Patch 10 apply to Oracle 8i or do you have to be on 9i? Also, does applying patch 10, catch you up on all previous patches (1-9)?.

    The latest Forms 6i patch is 12. It is not 8, 8i or 9i specific. You need to check the related certification matrix and review the patch readme file to find out if the fixed bugs valid for your platform/configuration. For example, if you are running Forms 6i against a 9.2 database, the only certified 6i patch is 12.
    The patches are cumulative - patch 12 includes previous patch fixes.

  • DML issue in Oracle forms

    Hi,
    I have seen sometimes the queries which work in oracle sql*plus and Pl/Sql Developer,they dont work in Oracle forms, for example following query works in
    Pl/sql developer,but not in oracle forms
    select *
    from tablea
    where name in (variable)
    so if variable contains 'AA','BB'
    and records are there in table ,it will not fetch any records,whether variable is with quotes or not .........
    whenever there is a dml statement involving variables ..behavior is somewhat different ....so to get that done ....i normally transfer them to database procedure or function .....then it works fine ..
    Is it known bug or what.
    Regards,
    SS

    You can use a FORMS_DDL or EXECUTE IMMEDIATE
    select_dml := ' select * from tablea where name in ('||:variable||')';
    FORMS_DDL ( select_dml);if variable contains 'AA','BB'

  • How login in BI Publisher from MyApp (Oracle Forms 11.1.2)

    Hi.
    Anyone can help me, as I login from my application in Oracle Forms 11.1.2, BI Publisher 11.1.6
    Thank you very much
    Carlos

    I would not use the national characterset, but change the database characterset instead. Oracle is perfectly capable of suporting multibyte charactersets like UTF-16 or UTF-8.
    Take a look how to verify if you can change the database characterset using csalter or if you'd need to create a new database:
    http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/10g/CharacterSetMigration.php
    If you change the database characterset to e.g. AL32UTF8 your VARCHAR2 columns are multibyte enabled (and depending on your NLS_LENGTH_SEMANTICS the precision you specified are BYTEs or CHARs), and you won't need to change your sourcecode at all.
    The national characterset is there to support multiple charactersets in one database; As you simply want to support multibyte it's by far more easy to change the database characterset. Change the database characterset to AL32UTF8 (4 byte variable-width characterset) and you won't have problems with charactersets at all in the future.
    Also changing to NVARCHAR2 multibyte won't be a easy "alter table modify blabla", as the data itself also needs to be migrated. The whole migration plus the change of your entire code plus the bug that this doesn't even work in forms makes a reinstall of your database install and a characterset migration via exp/imp by far the easiest solution.
    cheers

    ORA-00604: error occured at recursive SQL level 1
    ORA-01009: missing mandatory parameter
    However, I could access to the database using this set of username and password. Am I missing something? Thanks.

    Hi,
         After a successful installation of forms 10g in vista, I'm about to run OPatch Universal Installer for the patch 7047034
    in order to fix the form bugs. However, I cannot run the command "opatch apply C:\oracle_form\Patch26_Rel_10105\7047034"
    with the error "The Oracle Home c:\devsuitehome_1 is not registered with the Central Inventory.". Then I try to create a
    oraInst.loc file, but not much change still. The situation is that oracle 10g is installed before oracle developer suite
    10g, and when I try to set oracle_home to oracle 10g's path ("C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1") and run "opatch lsinventory",
    it returns the correct result; when oracle developer suite 10g's path ("c:\devsuitehome_1") is set as the oracle_home,
    the same command would return a different result as "LsInventory: OPatch Exception while accessing O2O".
         I've verified through Oracle Universal Installer that the Central Inventory has included both as oracle_home (oracle 10g
    and oracle developer suite 10g). I'm very confused now, though it seems that the problem could be solved by registering the
    Central Inventory with oraacle developer suite 10g's path. Thanks.

  • BI GRAPHS IN ORACLE FORMS 10G

    AFTER FINDING SOLUTION TO MAKE GRAPHS CUSTOMIZATION IN ORACLE FORMS 10G, I was suggested to use BIGRAPH so installed all package(formsgraph.jar and whole demo package) and I configured properly all my files. But graph.fmx which exist in demo when run on browser does not display any graph on bean area it might be as no data retreived or data not populated due to bug in fmb . I made new temp.fmb by only creating single item and bean on canvas. On validating item I wrote following syntax.
    BEGIN
         IF (:BLOCK1.TEXT_ITEM5 = ' ') THEN
         message('validating');
         set_custom_property('block1.BeanArea1',1,'GRAPHTYPE','HORIZONTAL_BAR');
    set_custom_property('block1.BeanArea1',1,'ENABLE_TOOLTIPS','ALL');
    SET_CUSTOM_PROPERTY('block1.BeanArea1',1,'SET_DELIMITER',',');
    SET_CUSTOM_PROPERTY('block1.BeanArea1',1,'ADD_ROWDATA','Europe,Sales,25000');
    SET_CUSTOM_PROPERTY('block1.BeanArea1',1,'ADD_ROWDATA','USA,Sales,70000');
    SET_CUSTOM_PROPERTY('block1.BeanArea1',1,'ADD_ROWDATA','Europe,Taxes,2500');
    SET_CUSTOM_PROPERTY('block1.BeanArea1',1,'ADD_ROWDATA','USA,Taxes,2500');
    SET_CUSTOM_PROPERTY('block1.BeanArea1',1,'ADD_ROWDATA','Europe,Savings,22500');
    SET_CUSTOM_PROPERTY('block1.BeanArea1',1,'ADD_ROWDATA','USA,Savings,67500');
    SET_CUSTOM_PROPERTY('block1.BeanArea1',1,'ADD_DATA_TO_GRAPH','');
    SET_CUSTOM_PROPERTY('block1.BeanArea1',1,'ADD_ROWDATA','UK,Taxes,67500');
    set_custom_property('block1.BeanArea1',1,'SHOW_GRAPH','');
         END IF;
    END;
    Still surprise as forms open successfully on Web browser but no chart displayed. I am really fade up as I required lot of time to install demo version in my original oracle 10g software. My boss say how can new version have no features of graphics. I can not tell or say to buy that oracle graphics are customized in Oracle 11g.
    If anybody have solution for above, please reply.
    Thanks,
    Prashant

    Hello Omama,
    Problem of Bi Graphs have been solved by running url with extension as config=Bigraph. For my next problem in graph of 10g I am going to post new thread as BI Graphs does not serve my problem. Anyway Thanks.

  • Changing prompt colour in oracle forms 6i to canvas background (solution)

    One of the really infuriating things about Oracle Forms 6i (and possibly other versions) is that when you set a visual attribute for a item the prompt, as well ad field, takes that background colour. Seing it is common to have the field background white and the canvas background gray this is a paid. The following procedure sets the background colour for all prompts to the background colour of the canvas the prompts field sites on - i.e. it automaticaly sorts out the problem.
    PROCEDURE lp_setup_prompt_colour IS
    -- This procedure sets the background colour of all prompts to the
    -- items canvas background colour
    this_block varchar2(70) :=
    get_form_property (name_in ('SYSTEM.CURRENT_FORM'), first_block);
    last_blockname constant varchar2 (70) := -- Initialise current block to first block
    get_form_property (name_in ('SYSTEM.CURRENT_FORM'), last_block); -- Define the last block
    field_name varchar2(70); -- the name of the current item
    this_item varchar2(70) := -- Initialise current item to the first item in the form
    get_block_property (this_block, first_item);
    last_field varchar2 (70) := -- Initialise last item to the last item in the first block
    get_block_property (this_block, last_item);
    canvas varchar2(70);
    begin
    loop -- Go through every item in the form
    field_name := this_block || '.' || this_item; -- set the current item
    canvas := get_item_property( field_name, ITEM_CANVAS );
    if canvas is not null then -- don't bother if null canvas item
    SET_ITEM_PROPERTY(field_name, PROMPT_BACKGROUND_COLOR,
    GET_CANVAS_PROPERTY(canvas ,BACKGROUND_COLOR));
    end if;
    -- Stop looping once the last item in the form has been added to the list
    exit when this_block = last_blockname and this_item = last_field;
    if this_item = last_field then -- weve looped round and are back at first field
    -- Step into the next block
    this_block := get_block_property (this_block, nextblock);
    this_item := get_block_property (this_block, first_item);
    last_field := get_block_property (this_block, last_item);
    else
    -- Step to the next item in the block
    this_item := get_item_property (field_name, nextitem);
    end if;
    end loop;
    end;

    Actually, this is a known bug - you should apply the latest patch.

    I followed instructions from the message above and it worked. Oracle XE + PPRD (only forms to save disk space and RAM) + weblogic, i have also installed APEX 3.2.1. It all works at my win 7 system
    There where one bug in forms builder database connector, solution was to replace it with the file from SQL*Plus (AFAIR it was tnsnames.ora file)
