Bug in Project 2013 when turning off screenupdating in vb

Below a short (3-line) piece of code that turns off screen updating, applies the "Gantt Chart" view (though any view or table produces the same effect), then turns screen updating on again.
When you run the code, the result is all task names and gantt chart bars disappear - only the dependencies remain in the Gantt chart. making ScreenUpdating = True restores them again.
Has anyone else seen this potentially major bug? It seems like turning screen updating on again after turning it off doesn't refresh the screen.
Sub screen_updating_problem()
' Make the next line "True" to fix the problem, i.e. not update the screen
    ScreenUpdating = False
    ViewApply "Gantt Chart"
    ScreenUpdating = True
End Sub

Regardless of the need to turn screen updating off and on, clearly it's not working and it's a bug. This is my point.
If I turn screen updating off, change the view, then turn it on again, regardless of whether this is needed or not, turning it back on removes the Gantt bars and text in the tables. This should not happen.
Let me give you an example:
1. Open all tasks (removing the filter and opening all summaries)
2. Close the lower pane
3. Go through a set of operations to determine the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc. critical paths from a selected milestone
4. Add a column to the table
5. Filter on the critical path to the selected milestone
If I do this when screen updating is on (especially in step 3), the user can see each step of the process. We don't want this. We want to turn screen updating off so the next thing the users sees is the result, and non of the intermediate operations that
involves changes to the screen. Turning screen updating off while it goes through each step makes each step also makes it run faster, because the screen doesn't have to be updated.
What we are doing is relatively complex. Again, right or wrong, turning screen updating on after being off doesn't behave correctly.

I am at Snow Leopard and have only played a bit in IMOVIE - so can't speak for Mavericks - but -
In general as I work a lot in Photoshop - when you are happy with something save it and continue on - If you have Time Machine Running and you want to try things next that may or may not work - force a time machine backup - that way the version you are happy with will be available for 24 hours (and wish this was a setting one could extend)
If you turn off your mac - or end a program without consciously saving something you may lose what you worked on.
If IMOVIE did not ask if you want to recover what you were doing your update may be gone - but try posting new question - asking about automatic backups in IMOVIE and how they work.

  • IPhone 5 will not be recognized by iTunes or charge while on but when turned off the iPhone will charge just fine but still won't sync with iTunes what should I do?

Was charging my iphone 5 for about an hour or so after charging unplugged and went to playing games phone was at 5% so I grabbed my cable and plugged it into the wall nothing happened tried three different chords and blocks and sockets afterwards I plugged my phone into the computer and it wouldn't charge or sync with iTunes it acted as if it wasn't even plugged in so I shut the phone off and though I'd give It a break and try again later. As I got ready to go to bed I though I'd try to plug it back in and see if anything happened nothing did so I just left it I went to mess with it this morning and come to find out it was at 100% I continued to mess with it and i came to the conclusion that it only charges when turned off. I can't get the phone to reset and would love to restore with iTunes if it would sync with iTunes I don't know what I need to do but really need my problem resolved since its a hassle to have to turn off my iphone in order to get it to charge

Is that a new iPhone? Bring it in to Apple for a replacement.
    But do this first:
hold the Home Button and the Power Button at the same time, keep holding, ignore everything on the screen, keep holding until you see the white Apple logo appear, then let go and let it start up.
It should charge both when on and off, unless you connect throug a hub and there are current eaters also on the hub: connect directly to the usb port.

  • Should iphone 4 receive messages when turned off and display them when switched back on

should iphone 4 receive messages when turned off and display them when switched back on

It's up to the cellular carrier, but I believe most (if not all) will enqueue the messages when your iPhone is off.
So generally speaking, a few minutes after you turn your iPhone on, your messages should display.  Similarly, your voicemails would arrive.

  • When turn off wi-fi, macbook pro stop responding

installed maverics on my macbook pro 3,1. every time when turn off wi-fi manually, computer stop responding, it then has to be restarted by long press on the power botton.

Wanted the solution to work, but there's no option to Sync this iPod over Wi-Fi option on my Touch.
Settings > General > iTunes Wi-Fi Sync > Sync Now
No option to uncheck to opt out of automatic syncing.  The auto syncing can only be stopped after it's started.
Solution found by searching the web:
iTunes menu > Preferences > Devices > Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically.

  • Charging iPhone 3Gs when turned off.

I have had my iPhone 2 days and I have realised that it does not charge when turned off. If I turn the phone off and insert the wire (wall plug or USB on computer) the phone automatically turns on and when I turn it off it doesn't charge. Has anyone got any suggestions as to why this happens or any ways to fix it. I'm new to Apple products so I would much appreciate anyones help!
    Thank you!

If you plug it in while on, then turn it off, it should charge just fine (although you will have no indication it is charging, since it is off).
If you turn it off and THEN plug it in, it will start up. That's just the way it is.

Restart your computer while holding down left mouse key. That will eject the CD and your Mac will start as normal.

how do you make it not so sensitivity. when turned off set down it comes back on or when working out shirt brushes ipod and it changes music

You didn't say which model of iPod Nano that you have, but generally there should be a lock setting, that can be turned on or off, to prevent accidental changes in settings. And, there is also a setting to turn on or off a feature called, "Shake to Shuffle." It allows you to change songs by just shaking the iPod.

Do you place the ipod in the dock during the night? I did this once and the other day the battery was almost empty because it kept on playing after it rested in the dock.

  • HT1688 Has anyone experienced the 3GS phone exploding when turned off?

Has anyone experienced the 3GS phone exploding when turned off and not in use after a period of time? Is so, what did you do to get it replaced?

I haven't, but thanks for asking.
Bring your phone to Apple for replacement.  If you're in the warranty period, the replacement will be free; if not you will pay $149.

  • Satellite P855-10G runs out of battery even when turned off

    Hi everyone,
I have bought the Toshiba Satellite P855-10G, but im terrified because he runs out of battery even when turned off..
Anyone knows how can i solve the issue?
    Best regards,
    Igor Tarelho

    Hi
Access the BIOS and turn OFF the options like: Waking up on LAN and Keyboard.
In Toshiba HW Setup I recommend disabling the USB Sleep and Charge function as well
Both enabled options might allow discharging the battery even if the unit is OFF

  • Ipod nano 6 gen hangs when turning off the backlight. That is, it doesn't respond to button presses on the touch screen.

ipod nano 6 gen hangs when turning off the backlight. That is, it does not respond to button presses on the touch screen. He also has just a white screen instead of the desktop display. Tried to rearrange the screen from another Ipod nano, but nothing came of it - all the same ... What should I do?

    Hi Rc_Drifter,
Welcome to the Support Communities!  The article below will help you troubleshoot the issue you are having with your iPod nano. Restoring the device may resolve the backlight issue as well.

    Display shows a white screen
Try putting the iPod into disk mode:
Reset the device (press the Sleep and Volume Down buttons simultaneously until the display turns black—about eight seconds).
When the display turns black, hold down the Volume Down and Volume Up buttons simultaneously until the device enters Disk mode.
While the device is in disk mode, sync it to iTunes and try to restore.
I hope this information helps ....

  • My 3g is stuck on a screen that only allows emergency calls, wont conect to itunes, doesnt change when turned off or plugged in, any ideas how to fix it?

my 3g fell in toilet thursday, dried out and worked yesterday, now its stuck on a screen that says emergency call. wont connect to itunes, doesnt change when turned off or plugged in, any ideas

If you are eligible for a discounted upgrade through your carrier, this would be a great time to consider it. The phone is most probably permanently damaged.

  • My ipod touch 4th gen froze! blank white screen and doesn't respond when turned off, or connected to my laptop

my ipod touch 4th gen froze! only blank white screen and doesn't respond when turned off or connected to my laptop!

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely.  Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.
