[Bug in SDN] Blog research

Hi,
Recently, I noticed that every time I perform a research on SDN, Weblog results are systematically returned with a fixed date '30 Jul 2008', although the date in the Weblog itself seems OK.
This is really annoying when you try to sort by date to get the most recent entries.
Is there a reason for this or is this a bug ?
Best regards,
Guillaume

There is a problem with the system at the moment and they are working on it.

  • SDN Blog on What's new in Nakisa 3.0

    Hi all,
    Below is an SDN blog I wrote detailing some of the new features and functionality in STVN 3.0.

    Enjoy!

    ah guh suk yuh dutty sket mudda bumbohole battybway!
    It's a very helpful post because there is people who come to this forum when trying to decide to what recording software too purchase, and there's also people all over the internet who say that Audition is not better then Pro-Tools and more amateurish when in many regards it is more professional and has a better interface and GUI, especially if you're not doing too many tracks (less then 16 or perhaps more on a high end system). It's multi-track is easy and stays out of your way, has great automation, and some updated editing capabilities and has an excellent mbc that pro-tools does not have (maybe not excellent but very good)..and I believe pro-tools is a cpu hog doing certain things just like Audition is.
    So people come to this site and I'm going to tell them the truth that it has been added to nicely since Adobe bought it and hopefully if people buy it will have another update to make the multi-track even better.  It has a few bugs and downsides but so does pro-tools, I think the upsides are greater then pro-tools.
    The only downsides are the midi is a bit lacking compared to other programs which have been in the midi-game longer, and that it does use alot of cpu for certain efx, and the multi-track is better in some ways but not as advanced in others in terms of sequencing and arranging, it could improve in that area, loops and stretching loops to match each other then being able to record how you bring the loops in and out in a sequence like ableton but in it's own way then it would rule the world forever.

  • SDN blog on PI used by SCAM site

    Hello SDN,
    I wanted to share some interesting discovery I made recently. I was goggling for how to implement EDIFACT interface in SAP PI (Process Integrator). And found following site:
    http://www.xmlconverters.com/customers/sap-review.html
    I read it and found it quite useful, as it described almost full solution to what I need. Still there was one thing that confused me. They were offering to buy some sort of  software for one thousand euros, that I sort of need. Still I could not see in solution how is this software exactly used.
    Then i looked in SDN for solution and found this excellent blog:
    /people/ricardoandres.maienza/blog/2007/04/06/edifact-to-xml--stylus-studio-solution
    Guess what? That SCAM site has copied SDN blog and replaced:
    In detail the objective of this web log is to describe how to process an EDIFACT message inside XI, using “Stylus Studio” solution.
    with
    In summary, the objective of this blog posting is to describe how to process an EDIFACT message inside SAP XI, using the “DataDirect XML Converters” solution.
    to trick people buying their crap-ware.
    So guys be careful !!!
    Regards,
    Reinis

    It is just copy&paste ;D
    That web site says that he is the author.
    But I would bet that author himself has never ever heard of this site.
    And solution described in blog has nothing to do with "DataDirect XML Converters", whatever they are.

  • Copyright of blogs posted in SDN

    Hi,
    I have a question to raise here (Din't find any better place to put).
    can any of SAP mentor tell me about copyright of blogs posted here in SDN? Because i have seen same blogs copied in some other sites with some other author name. Can we do anything on this regard?
    For example, one of my weblog is posted in some other site, with the name of some other person.
    SDN Link : /people/aashish.sinha/blog/2008/01/17/step-150-by-150-step-simple-approach-for-xslt-mapping
    Other site link : http://www.sap-xi.com/sap-xi-scenarios-file-file-xslt.html
    I hope you will find many blogs there copied from SDN blogs. It frustrate people.

  • Bug in 4.1.1: Region Title translations is lost

    Hello, apex team and Joel Kallman.
    This is my second bug report with translations today.
    REGION TITLE TRANSLATIONS IS LOST WITH APEXexport AND APEX_APPLICATION_INSTALL COMBINATION.
    My environment:
    Oracle XE 11g Linux 64bit.
    Apex 4.1.1.
    Development app 110.
    Production app 111.
    en-us - primary lang
    es - secondary
    ru - secondary
    How to reproduce:
    Export app 110 with bash command:
    $ java oracle.apex.APEXExprt -db xxx.private:1521:XE -user apex_040100 -password `cat secret.txt` -applicationid 110 -skipExportDate -expTranslations
    Import with this script (as apex_040100 user)
    declare
    l_workspace_id number;
    begin
    select workspace_id into l_workspace_id
    from apex_workspaces
    where workspace = 'PROD';
    apex_application_install.set_workspace_id( l_workspace_id );
    apex_application_install.set_application_id(111);
    apex_application_install.generate_offset;
    apex_application_install.set_schema( 'PROD' );
    apex_application_install.set_application_alias( 'FPROD_APP' );
    end;
    @../f110.sql
    Then SEED and PUBLISH in Apex Builder.
    At this point Region Title translations is lost for every region in app.
    Workaround:
    I use blog post "Moving your XLIFF files" by Joel Kallman on YABAOAE from the very first day it was published.
    http://joelkallman.blogspot.com/2010/07/moving-your-xliff-files.html
    It is only way to use DEV and TEST/UAT env. on the same database with translated apps. Thanks to Joel.
    If it is not a bug, please, explain me better way to workaround it for me.
    Vladimir

    Hi Vladimir,
    Thanks for reporting this issue as well.
    I filed this as Bug 13801807. I researched this and understand what the issue is. But I need to think carefully about what would be the best solution for it. I'll report back to this thread with an answer.

  • What happened to SDN (quality)?

    Hello SDN staff and SDN members,
    i am using SDN on daily business / basis and after the last months i got the feeling, that the quality of the platform and (my) used areas dropped more and more.
    Let me just point out three parts of my experience over the last months:
    1) Obviously bugs in some basic areas of a social media network
    -> https://forums.sdn.sap.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2034648
    The bug was accepted and assigned - after one month i asked the SDN development team about this issue and the answer:
    There has been no update on this. The development cycles are approximately one month apart so a bug reported in one month can take up to two months to see a resolution.
    The SDN staff itself was really exerted to work around this issue for me, but unfortunately without any success. So i tried it once again today and the bug is still there (since Sep 9, 2011 when i reported it).
    2) Blog approval time
    I wrote a blog article round about one week ago and set the status to "Ready for Approval". Since yesterday it got no feedback or approval for it, so i thought maybe there was a bug in the blog system as well and set the status again. But since today nothing has changed. The blog article is still on "Ready for Approval". I got no problem if it is rejected or something like that, but in my opinion that time line is much too long to get some feedback by SAP. For my part i already think about blogging on my own site, so i got no delays and i got the control of my own stuff (with a much better UI). Unfortunately the other SDN members would not find that information - so it's kind of a double bind.
    3) Automatic (re-)login using SSL certificate
    Somewhere in the last two month - the automatic login by SSL certifcate stopped working. So if you open the URL "https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/forums" you are not logged in by using your stored SSL certificate - you have to click on "Login" and just after that the SSL certificate is used. This would be not the biggest problem at all, but if your session expires while writing or editing some posts or blogs you are not able to save the content anymore, because you are not automatically logged in. Really annoying.
    Do you (SDN members) have the same experience / impression of SDN or am i the only one?
    Best Regards
    Stefan

    Hi Stefan,
    apart from your points (which I can fully agree upon) I'm quite disappointed by the quality of content I see lately.
    Blogs like
    [http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/28721]
    and
    [http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/28713]
    make reading SDN blogs a waste of time.
    Knowing how time consuming is can be to come up with a nice little piece of text that can be published as a blog post I really have  a hard time to rectify spending that time for my blogs when I see stuff like these two blogs going online without any resistance.
    I don't know how to avoid or reduce or limit or get rid of such ... accidental writings but this has to end if we want to keep SDN a reasonable serious knowledge platform.
    Maybe dislike- or -1 buttons could help.
    Maybe writer-classes could do.
    Maybe co-lecturing via random/topic-based reviewer assignment could help.
    Any ideas anybody?
    Cheers,
    Lars

  • An Apology to SDN and a Request for Advice

    After thinking about Mark Finnern's suggestion yesterday that I stop blogging so frequently, I realized that I had made an honest mistake about the way in which I was using the SDN blog area.
    Let me try to explain how and why this mistake occurred.
    First, it goes without saying that what SDN does well, it does extremely well.  I have used the Expert Forums on several critical occasions in the past few months, and they function "above and beyong".  I also keep a list  of "good_sdn_links" when I see great guides and explanations in blog posts, so I don't have to bother searching for them later, and here again, SDN is doing its job extremely well.
    But the fact that SDN does certain things very very well doesn't mean it is doing everything it should be doing.
    What do I mean by this?
    Well, many people here at SDN would agree with me that there are many things terribly wrong with the IT community today and inside the SAP community as well.  Furthermoe, it's my opinion that SDN is doing nothing to try and change these things, when it in fact can and should be trying to change them.
    So I decided to do my part as a "change agent" by posting a number of "perspective" posts which tried to communicate what I thought was wrong with IT and SAP today.
    But here's where the mistake came in.
    First, I figured from my read count that I must be doing something right, otherwise, why would my blog posts have @52,000 reads since 10/1/2006, or about 440 reads per calendar day?
    Second, for all the criticism I received in personal emails about my blogs, I also received validation at SDN.  Let me give you an example of this.
    Two well-respected and long-time members of the SDN community indicated to me in personal emails that they had a lot of problems with my two long series of blogs on the WDA component WDR_TEST_UI_ELEMENTS and how it could be very easily converted to do many other useful things.
    But at the same time as I was receiving this criticsm , I  responded to Thomas Szuecs in one of his threads and therefore took an opportunity to ask him if he knew the SAP developer of WDR_TEST_UI_ELEMETNS, and if so, to convey my gratitude to the developer of WDR_TEST_UI_ELEMENTS for writing such a wonderful piece of code.  He responded that he did know this developer and that this developer liked the series very much,
    Third, I have received blog responses from several SDNers indicating that my "perspective posts" were registering with them.  The one of these that I treasure most is from the SDNer who posted the following:  "I like the way you put your finger where it hurts - keep it up."
    So, you can see from the above three points how the mistake occurred - I figured that if I had 440 reads per day over four months, and if my technical posts were OK with key SAP developers, and if at least some readers were responding with indications that they understood what I was trying to do in my "perspective" posts, then I must be doing something right.
    But if you've been following some recent conversations in this Forum, you'll realize that I was doing something quite wrong.
    What I was doing wrong with my "perspective" posts was trying to use the blog space at SDN to effect change in the SAP community and therefore, in the larger IT community.
    And if you think about it, this was wrong for a very obvious reason: SDN has this "Suggestions" Forum that I'm posting in right now.
    So if I was really serious about trying to get SDN to become a change agent to help improve the SAP community and the larger IT community, then I should have been posting a particular kind of post to the Suggestion Forum, instead of "perspective" blogs.
    In particular, I should have been making Suggestion Forum posts which:
    a) clearly identify a problem in the SAP community that SDN can actually help to change;
    b) offering a concrete suggestion as to how SDN can help to change this problem.
    So - having finally realized my mistake, I want to start posting posts to this Suggestion Forum which do (a) and (b).
    But before I do, I want to ask two questions up front: one about frequency and one about content.
    With respect to frequency, how often should I make one of these posts to the Suggestion Forum - weekly, every other day - you folks tell me.
    With respect to content, are there any topics that any one thinks inappropriate for a suggestion post?  In particular, would anyone object to Suggestion Forum posts on the following topics:
    a) in the SAP community (outside BI/A), matters relating to real business computation are being ignored in favor of an emphasis on tool technologies that have nothing to do with real business computation, but are important to SAP's marketing strategies; what can SDN to change this?
    b) in the SAP community, not enough support is being provided to the many external SAP developers who are stuck on systems at or above 4.6c and below 04s; what can SDN do to change this?
    c) in the SAP community, there is not enough awareness of deficiencies in the relational database model, and how carefully it must be used; what can SDN do to change this?
    d) in the SAP community, there is not enough awareness of how various "organizational pathologies" at customer sites constrain the ways in which SAP can be used to benefit customers; what can SDN do to change this?
    e) in the SAP community, there is far too little focus on SAP metadata, particularly at a time when SAP is trying to move into the Enterprise SOA paradigm.
    To sum up:
    1) If you think Suggestion Posts in any of these five areas are inappropriate, please take a moment to let me know.
    2) If you think that Suggestion Posts should also be limited to a certain frequency, please also take a moment to let me know.
    3) If you've gotten this far in reading this post, thanks very much for your patience and for whatever advice you have the time and energy to provide.
    djh

    Hi Eddy -
    Thanks very much for the advice; it will probably work out that way anyway because right now I'm really interested in doing a good enough initial "trial-run" that  Valery/Rich will be willing to get involved in a mini-collaboration that I'm right now working to start up with an opening post in "Test/Playground".
    Anyway, since you're taking some time off, I beg you to take a look at the first two paragraphs of this link:
    <a href="http://www.kcoyle.net/granfalloons.html">ReCatsCradle</a>.
    and also then read Kurt Vonnegut's short novel "Cat's Cradle" if you haven't already.
    It is amazing how Vonnegut's notions of a "granfaloon" and a "karass" are related to various events that transpire here at SDN.
    Take care of yourself, buddy.
    Best regards
    djh

  • RSS feeds and tags for blog series?

    Hi,
    We are trying to establish a blog series for news regarding our small OS/DB platform (DB4). Granularity of Categories regarding SDN blogs is far too low to shrink the contents suitably for our target group by using RSS feeds for a Category. And I suppose there is no way to create a dedicated category for the small amount of contributions to expect.
    So, the current approach is to tell people to subscribe to the RSS feed pointing to my personal account. This is only a bad workaround. I'd prefer tagging the blog series with a specific keyword so other members of our group could contribute to the series, and blog contributions to other topics by me could be filtered out.
    Any suggestions? Thanks a lot,
    Thomas

    Hi Thomas,
    My suggestion would be to use the SCN wiki
    Each space has its own rss feed. I believe there is also a new way to work with specific wiki pages and labels.
    I recommend you reach out to Moshe Naveh from my team and he'll assist.

  • Small hyperlink bug in 10.1.3 (preview)?

    When creating a JSP, and selecting some text to convert to a hyperlink, pressing the hyperlink button will show a dialog to enter the hyperlink's details, but the generated code will be inserted AFTER the selected text. The generated hyperlink is 0 (zero) characters wide, so, not only is it in the wrong place, it's also unclickable.
    Easy to solve, but for me this is a bug.
    If this has been posted before, please apologize. New to JDeveloper, and could not find it on this forum.
    Read about this bug on my blog (and watch the Viewlet how to reproduce it): click here to view bug

    I'm stupid, by following the tutorial without thinking. It says "click on the Link element on the palette". If I'd clicked on the link button on the formatting toolbar (between background color and bold) everything would have worked fine.
    Sorry to have bothered you.

  • Simple drag and drop programme. Bug

    Hi.
    I have a simple drag and drop app for learning English. You hear for eg: banana and have to drag that object to a certain area.
    When my little kid plays it she finds bugs - she's my researcher.
    It's hard to explain the bug as its hard to get it but kids can easily. You click on the target object and drag it a little, then quickly reclick it but not drag ie: release the mouse as it goes back to its initial position. You move the mouse away and and the object follows mouse even though you are now not dragging and you can't drop it.
    I know its hard to imagine this but perhaps this is a know bug for drag and drops.
    private function dragHandler(e:MouseEvent)
                e.currentTarget.startDrag();
                xIni = e.currentTarget.x;
                yIni = e.currentTarget.y;
    The you have the following which has an event listener for the mouse up event.
    private function checkDrag(e:MouseEvent)
                e.currentTarget.stopDrag();
                if (this.currentBubble.hitTestObject(this.dragTarget))
                    if (currentBubble && currentBubble == e.currentTarget)
                        currentBubble.visible = false;
                        blnCorrect = true;
                        points = this.points + 10;
                        score.score_txt.text = String(points);
                        correct++;
                        vehiclePosition+=100;
                        TweenLite.to(animation,1,{x:vehiclePosition})
                        trace("CORRECT="+correct);
                        if (correct == 10)
                            endGame();
                            return;
                    bubbles.splice(currentIndexArray,1);//you must specify the parameter 1 ie: remove 1
                    sndChannel=soundCorrect.play();
                    sndChannel.addEventListener(Event.SOUND_COMPLETE, soundCorrectComplete)
                else
                    incorrect++;
                    sndChannel=soundIncorrect.play();
                    sndChannel.addEventListener(Event.SOUND_COMPLETE, soundIncorrectComplete);
                    TweenLite.to(e.currentTarget, 1, {x:xIni, y:yIni, ease:Strong.easeOut, onComplete:onFinishTween});

    So, the code should be like this:
    private function dragHandler(e:MouseEvent):void
         e.currentTarget.startDrag();
         stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, checkDrag);
         xIni = e.currentTarget.x;
         yIni = e.currentTarget.y;
    private function checkDrag(e:MouseEvent):void
         stopDrag();
         stage.removeEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, checkDrag);
    Also, i suggest you get into habit to ALWAYS declare datatypes, including what functions return - it is good for memory and performance. In your case, :void should be function return datatype.
    In addition, you don't need to stopDrag() on an object - since only a single object can be dragged at a time - just calling stopDrag() is sufficient.
