The last version of iCal (3.0.8 [1287]) have a bug in the spanish location:
When edit or change information of an event, the final date window do not allow introduce more than ONE digit for the day as can see in this image:
This problem not happens with the english location. I've opened the app pack, puting out the spanish location and in this way iCal works well as can see in this other image:
After I've opened the resources of the spanish location to search the bug, but I can't find in which one is it.
Is there anybody who want lend me a hand?
I hope that Apple wants fix this bug, but meanwhile…
A lot of thanks

  • Location of iCal alarm on screen

My iCal alarms all seem to be working properly except...they pop up almost entirely off the screen. When an alarm 'goes', I get the appropriate alarm sound, and the alarm message pops up...but I can only see the extreme left hand side of the alarm message (i.e. the rest of it is off the right side of the screen). I have to drag it back onto the screen to read it. That's fine...but I'm afraid that if my alarms don't pop up in the centre of the screen (or at least entirely on the screen) I'll not see it, and I'm going to miss whatever I'm being reminded about. Any way to make the messages pop-up in a different location?

  • Changing the default data location for iCal calendars

Is there any way to tell iCal to pull its calendar data from a different location other than ~/library/calendars ? I realize that this would probably require some app hacking, but if anyone knows how it would allow me to create an incredibly easy and efficient sync solution that I'd be happy to share. This also goes for apps like Address Book, Mail, etc. All I need to do is tell iCal to look for its "Calendars" folder in, for example, ~/Desktop/Calendars

OK. Move ~/Library/Calendars to your new Drop Box. This will ('cos it is a separate volume) leave a copy in ~/Library, so delete the Calendars folder there.
In terminal you will need a command something like
    ln -s /Volumes/Drop\ Box/Calendars/ Library/Calendars
    A couple of notes:
the first argument after the -s is the "source" - the folder that is being linked to; the next is the linking file or directory
terminal provides some auto-completion, so type as far as the -s /Vo then press tab and it will fill in as far as the next /, then type Dr and tab again and it should complete the first arg (make sure there is a trailing /) then type the space and Li and tab and then you will have to type in Calendars yourself 'cos terminal can't guess what you want
the last Calendars don't get a trailing /
If it has worked and you use Finder to look at ~/Library/Calendars you should see (apparently) the normal set of calendar files in it. Make sure your Drop Box is read and write accessible by both users.

  • How do I locate an iCal calendar from a backup and restore?

I need help in restoring a calendar that I deleted. I haven't used Time Machine since May, but I do use SuperDuper and have a clone of my hard drive backed up through yesterday. I am pretty sure the file is there somewhere, I just don't know where or how to get it back into iCal.
    Here is what happened...
*I use Mobile Me to sync my iMac (primary), MacBook and iPhone.*
A week ago I was trying to get my "Sports" calendar subscribed to my daughters old iMac. After reading the forums, the suggestions were to rename the calendar and try again, which I did. Changed it to "Kids Sports" and it seemed to allow her to subscribe, although updates/additions/deletions never made it to her computer. I left it alone at that point, knowing it still wasn't working properly but she had the brunt of her schedule.
Then sometime in the last few days I downloaded a schedule for my child's soccer tournament using my MacBook. It placed 3 games (with all the times, locations, etc) onto my MacBook, I thought wow, how cool, I didn't have to type all the info myself. I have never downloaded a calendar file before.
I noticed a little while later that those 3 games did not sync to my phone or iMac. I investigated and thought the time zone may have been the culprit, I can't remember what was listed but it wasn't a time zone, it was something like "undetermined" or along those lines (can't see it now because the calendar is gone), so I changed each of those 3 events to Central Time manually. Later they show up as 5 hours earlier than Central Time.
Yesterday I open up iCal in the MacBook and it's showing my "Personal" calendar with thousands of duplicate entries that are selected to "never" end, going back to around the year 2000. I have no idea how my "personal" calendar got this way, I haven't changed anything with it. Since I've been working on the "sports" calendar mess. I deleted the events in the "personal" calendar from October 1st going forward, of course everything prior to that is still there. About 4 events listed for everyday and to never end.
I also get a message that I have over 2200 entries that need to be reviewed in iCal before syncing last night. It's the calendar labeled "kids sports". I can see that in iCal I now have 2 sports calendars, "sports" and "kids sports", they both seem to have the same information in them, so I sync with the "kids sports" calendar to be deleted. WRONG answer! All that is left are the 3 events from the calendar I downloaded online, in the calendar labeled "sports".
Everything is already deleted from MobileMe as well.
Soooo, is it possible to pull the "kids sports" file from somewhere in the applications area and put it back where it belongs from my back up?
It seems like once a year I have a major issue with MobileMe duplicating, but I have yet to understand what I am doing wrong!
    Thanks,
    Sandy

    Anyone?
Let us get home from work first
I see my daughter's old iMac still has the "kids sports" calendar showing up with all the info still showing on her iCal, but she is subscribed to that calender versus syncing with it. I'm not sure if she has it set to manually refresh or automatically refresh.
If the calendar shows up fine on her computer the easiest way to get it cleanly is to get it from her computer if that is your goal. I'm assuming this is a calendar you created on your computer and then published and then she subscribed to it?
    _Go to her computer.
_Click on the calendar in question on the left hand side once.
_Go to File > Export > Export and save to the desktop.
_Bring the resulting .ics file to your computer.
_Delete the current kids sports calendar from your computer.
_Double-click the .ics file your brought over and add it to a "New Calendar"
_Now you can re-publish that calendar.
I don't understand why I can't use Superduper! to find the deleted calendar (deleted today and sync'd)
I'm afraid I've never used Superduper! so I can't offer any suggestion there. You may want to ask the maker of that software how to restore from their backups. I use Time Machine. However if SuperDuper! clones your hard drive as you say then all your calendars are stored in Your User > Library > Calendars on that backup.
You don't restore individual Calendars with iCal because it is one large database (in truth you can but it is very time consuming as every single event has it's own individual .ics file). So when you want your calendar from a certain restore point in time (when you made the last backup) you can follow these steps:
    _Quit iCal completely
_Go to Macintosh HD > Applications > iSync
    _Open iSync
_Go to iSync > Preferences and remove the check mark for "Enable syncing on this computer"
    _Reset Sync Services: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1627
_Remove Your User > Library > Calendars to the Trash
_Copy the Calendars folder from your backup and put it in Your User > Library where the old one used to be
_Launch iCal and check for your calendars
_If the calendars show up ok go back to iSync and re-check the box for "Enable syncing on this computer"
    Hope that helps.

  • Adding a location to ICal

When I open ICal on my MBP it allows me to put in all the info for say a doctor's appt except the location. The location is in the event box but it just states.....Location none. I click on it and nothing happens. How do you open it?
    Thanks

    I'm having a similar issue...
Adding a location in the location field of a new event gives me the ! icon, but adding a resource in the invitees field gives me a check mark icon. The location auto-fills, as do the resources, but it doesn't send the invite it seems. I'm certain it's not an issue of the location being in use, as I'm the only one using the server right now.
    Anyone with thoughts?

  • Need location of iCal Sources folder to restore lost iCal events.

Would someone kindly tell me where the iCal Sources folder is located in OS 10.8.5? Am trying to retrieve via Time Machine 2 months of iCal entries that simply vanished after installation of iOS 7 on my iPhone. Have discovered the previously hidden User Library folder, and within it the Application Support folder, but the only folder in Application Support/iCal is Themes.

    PeterJohn,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
iCal 3.0.2 stores data files in your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Calendars/ folder.
Go to Home>Library>Calendars in TimeMachine and restore it from a valid previous time.

To comment on a product defect (a bug), the best way is to get an ADC membership to become part of Apple's developer community. You don't need to actually be a software developer to join ADC, and the online membership is free. See this information:

AHHHH.  Apple you drive me crazy with this stuff!!!
I need to alter an automator script I made for iCal.   ...  but I can't figure out where these things are stored in my hidden, buried, locked and unalterable system.  If I open a iCal set up in Automator, create something new and his save -- where is tha new file hidden!  I've looked everywhere!

Finally found it.  It's under ~/Library/Workflows/
Just in case anybody else runs into this problem.

  • Skype for Business bug - changing custom locations

Just transitioned from Lync to Skype for Business and have noticed this issue on multiple workstations following the switch. Sometimes I am unable to change my custom location using the steps explained by the office support guide here: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Set-change-or-hide-your-location-in-Skype-for-Business-Lync-9d8b0e1c-c51d-42cc-a035-918e2ec47f66. Entering a free-form location, as well as selecting from a previous entered location does not seem to be working correctly. The input box will always appear as if I'm still entering text. Hitting enter, tab, clicking in a different portion of the application, closing the application, or restarting the application does not seem to make the status persist. Occasionally, this works as expected, but most of the time I am unable to save my location.

    Hi,
This Community is only dealing with Skype (the consumer product) and not Skype for Business. Best to start with Skype for Business support, e.g. here: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Set-change-or-hide-your-location-in-Skype-for-Business-Lync--9d8b0e1c-c51d-42cc-a035-918e2ec47f66?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US

  • Location of iCal files

Where does iCal keep the calendar files? Version 1.5.x? Version 2.0.x?

To the person who asked why I don't use the built-in Backup command: 1) I didn't/don't know about it, and 2) My HD was removed from my G4 tower. I am trying to recover data from it via my PowerBook before it gets reinitialized, so I guess I can't access iCal the regular way.
AK, I found the nodes.plist. I opened it. In addition to Current and Version I see the word List (not Root) with a black triangle beside it. When I open the triangle, I see values 0, 1, 2, and 3. When these are opened, I see Key, SourceKey, Publishers, Selection, Type, and ThemeColor. Publishers is empty. Selection is the same: 1. Type is the same: CALSourceNode. Everything else has different values.
My HD will be wiped on Tues, so I'm hoping to recover the file Sun or Mon. Thanks for any help you can offer.

  • User Interface Bug? "Current Location" Display in Audible Books

I have been an Audible audio book listener for many years on many different kinds of iPods. The iPhone is also great for this, but does introduce an interface change that I find undesirable.
When you tap on the book cover area of an audio book (in PORTRAIT) mode while an Audible book is playing, you get a nice display of where you are currently located in the audio book file.
However, on the iPhone, the display resulting from the foregoing method shows the current minute and second in the CHAPTER of the audiobook (i.e., a subdivision of the audio book file)--not the audio book file as a whole. This behavior is very different from that displayed on iPods. Thus, I need to remember that I am in Chapter 4 of Part 2 of "The Woman in White," for example, at 31:45. I also cannot tell by glancing at the readout how many minutes are left in the entire file; I can only tell how many minutes are left in the current chapter.
Does anyone else find this to be less user friendly than the standard iPod interface showing the current location in Audible books?

Yes, the "Pagination Display Position" lets you control where the pagination shows up. So you could put it top left, top right, bottom left, bottom right. IMHO there are pros and cons to each position.

  • Why is there not a direct link from "location" on ical to maps?

I think your question is best directed toward Apple feedback, as it is more of an enhancement request - not a support question.

  • Weird iCal bug after 10.4.8 update

After updating to Mac OS X 10.4.8 I get the following display bug with my iCal reminders, i.e. the reminder appears way off to the side of the screen. This happens on both of my machines:
    http://web.mac.com/csearles/iWeb/Site%202/Photos%202.html
    G 4 Cube   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    Hello Chris.
Apparently noone at Apple cares enough to
    respond to this issue...
Sorry you and at least one other person are experiencing this problem but FYI - this is a user to user help forum only that is provided and moderated by Apple so it is a very rare when an Apple employee responds direct to a post or thread here.
Since I haven't experienced the same and this is the first I've seen such a problem reported, this issue may be caused by a problem with the iCal preference file.
Quit the iCal.app first and locate the iCal preference file in your Preferences folder at Home > Library > Preferences. Move the iCal preference file to the Desktop.
Launch iCal and check your iCal settings since all settings are stored in the preference file for the application.
If this resolves it, you can delete the old iCal preference file from the Desktop. If you can determine this doesn't resolve it before updating any preference settings, you can replace the new preference file created with the old preference file placed on the Desktop with the application quit before doing so.

  • How do I print monthly calendars in iCal 5 with location?

    Hello,
Our office uses iCal to manage our schedule. I cannot get a monthly printout from iCal that displays location information i.e. information entered as location on iCal. Previously on our windows machines we had to use Outlook Calendar Assistant for this (which I still can't understand because this seems to be a very trivial problem, at least to me). The printouts are demanded by some older employees that absolutely need paper versions.
Can I export an iCal file to another program to print my calendar the way I need it? Can I do it from iCal directly? Outlook 2011 isn't an option at the moment because it does not sync with Google Calendars yet. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    With pleasure!
Great to know it worked for you
