Bug in Video App ios7

I have noticed when you delete a video from within ios7 the Video Application crashes. Just one of the minor bugs that need to be worked out.

Go to Settings>ITunes and App Store>Show All>Music>Off and also Videos>Off.

  • Movies not appearing in video app ios7

Under iOS6, movies not purchased via iTunes would appear in content list and could be played.  Under
iOS7, the same movie appears in the "on my phone" list in iTunes, takes space on my phone (iPhone4 running 7.02),
but the Apple's video report "no content".  Additionally, TV shows appear in the video app eventhough
I did not check the "Sync TV movies" section in iTunes.  Is my only option to run VLC on these
movies (non-iTunes)?  Also, how do you remove TV shows from the iPhone.

Does the count in Settings > General > About > Videos indicate that they are on the iPad ?
Have you tried closing the Videos app completely and seeing if they show when you re-open it ? From the home screen (i.e. not with Videos 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Videos app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • What happen to play all button in videos app ios7

I used to be able to select a play all episode button in the videos app is this just a setting im not seeing or is it a selection I'll be greatly missing.

Removed. Or I should say when they recoded the video app from scratch for ios7 , it was left out. Support has no idea if it will be added

Restarting videos works and looks like video is getting deleted.
    Just a bug report

You might want to report that to Apple instead of to the other users in this forum.

  • Music & Video App Bugs in iOS 8

Probably mentioned before but it looks like the Music and Video Apps are suffering from a few bugs. These issues are identical on my iPhone 5s and my iPad Air after updating to iOS8.
Album art that previously appeared in front of a Playlist's title in the Music App has disappeared.
I'm seeing the same band listed twice in the Music App, under 'A' for the bands name and under 'T' for "the". The 'T' is following directly after the 'A', making it weirder.
In the Video App, some TV Show titles, and all Music Videos have lost their album art work. Oddly, the Movie titles seem unaffected.
    -m

This isn't a Music app issue, per se, but it is related, so I'll put it here.
On my iPhone 5s, the volume control on the lock screen is now very close to the transport control buttons, so much so that it can be almost impossible to adjust the volume without activating one of the transport buttons instead.  This is especially frustrating when listening to iTunes Radio as I will frequently activate the Skip button, which not only skips the song, of course, but inadvertently reduces my skip count.  Since nothing else seems to have changed in the lock screen's layout, this repositioning makes no sense.

  • Video app does not report disk usage after upgrade to iOS7

Ever since upgrading to iOS7, the Videos app reports “No Data” under General->Usage, even though I have a number of movies and TV Shows downloaded from iTunes.  Downloading additional content or deleting all downloaded content and re-downloading does not affect the result - it still reports “No Data”.  I have confirmed that these videos are downloaded to the device and not on the cloud, and remain accessible will all cellular and wi-fi connectivity disabled.  This behavior occurs on both my iPad Air (currently on iOS 7.0.4) and my previous iPad 3 (Retina).
What can I do to correct this issue and have iOS correctly report video usage?

I'm having exactly the same issue and I'm yet to discover a solution. The vast majority of my 64GB iPad Air is compromised of video content (HD movies) but the Usage section of Settings shows 'No Data'. Very weird. Would love a fix for this as it's kinda hard to manage my data usage when I'm not seeing all the facts!

  • Video app won't play next

since the split between the music and video app, when i push the "next" button on in the player, it won't switch to the next video podcast episode as it used to do when it was only one app.
anybody knows how i can fix that?

What kind of Music App are you using?
Maybe some Apps they have bugs when using iOS7.
I'm using MVDIO and zingmp3, it's still okay here.

  • Movies, TV Shows, Music Videos from iCloud not showing up in Videos app

So I just did a reset on my iPhone because the movie artwork for the movie Love Actually was a picture of Adele's album artwork and it really bothered me. All the other movies in the Videos app was fine, they all matched to their respective titles. So I did a reset hoping that would fix that tiny minor issue but after doing the reset and restoring, None of the movies I've purchased in the past are showing up. All it says is "No Content. You can download videos from the iTunes Store." And I did go into the Videos settings to make sure "Show All Videos" is being set to on (green) but it still did nothing, none of my movies, tv shows, or music videos are showing up in the cloud. This really irritates me because I had one small issue that I was hoping to fix but now a new problem has risen and it's going to bug the **** out of me more than the original problem did. I tried turning it off and turining it back on, signing in and out of iTunes account, and pressing the power button and the home button at the same time, but still nothing from iCloud has appeared, Is anybody else having this issue? FYI, I also have the latest update 7.0.4 but I don't think that should have caused this issue. If anybody knows a solution, please let me know because as you can see, I'm very OCD about this, I like to see all my videos in the Videos app.

This was driving me nuts, but I figured it out. Here's how to fix:
    1) Create (or find) a thumbnail image that represents the series to you (I put text over a screenshot) in Photoshop or whatever you like to use, and put it on the clipboard
    2) In iTunes, select all the episodes from your series in the TV Shows view, right click, and select "Get Info"
    3) On the first tab ("Info") click in the artwork field, then paste in the thumbnail
    4) THIS IS THE KEY STEP - With your iPad plugged into your Mac, go to the TV shows tab and uncheck "Sync TV Shows" and then apply the new settings, and say okay when it tells you all your TV shows will be removed from your iPad
    5) After the sync is complete, check to make sure all your TV shows are gone (in the video app, there shouldn't even be a tab for TV Shows)
    6) In iTunes, check Sync TV Shows again, then apply
Once the sync is complete, your TV Shows will hopefully show up with good thumbnails.
The issue seems to be that once a file has been copied over, updating the thumbnail image in iTunes will NOT force an update on the iPad, and in the TV Shows view there are no captions on the main screen. You have to delete all the files to wipe the DB on the iPad.

  • Videos app crashes when I try to watch a tv show? Any ideas?

Hi, since upgrading to iOS5 I haven't been able to watch TV shows on the video app on my iPad 2. Up until today I've had diagnostics turned off but just turned them on and found the following diagnostic report which will now hopefully go to Apple so they can finally fix this annoying bug! I'm thinking about getting an appointment at a genius bar but not sure if it will just be a waste of time as I've restored my iPad (complete waste of time) and tried everything I can think of....anyway, the error report reads:

Can anyone help? Does anyone else have this problem? Am I wasting my time going to an Apple store to see if this can be resolved quickly?
Any help/tips/guidance would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Mark

    More details:
App also crashes when I try to select a genius playlist (though I never use this feature, so not sure if that's new). But I can create on-the-go playlists and play all songs off the iPhone that way if I wanted to.
When I launch the iPod app, it shows the "songs" selection screen by default, even though at the bottom, the "albums" tab is selected.
When I reclick "albums" it changes the screen to sort by album. If I had clicked the "songs" apon launching the iPod app, the screen wouldn't change, but the tab would now move over to highlight "songs".
Hoping it's just a synch mixup but still searching for a solution...

  • After iOS 8.0.2 update, I have missing artwork in Videos app

I have an iPad mini w/Retina, 128Gb model. I upgraded the iOS version to 8.0.2. Custom artwork created for certain movies is now missing from within the Videos App. I have taken a single video file and re-associated the .jpg image file to the movie from within iTunes 11.4. When I view the movie file in iTunes, the image displays correctly. When synced to my iPad mini, however, the movie has a generic grey image with the title displayed diagonally across the icon. The movie will play correctly, however. When in the Settings app under General/Usage/Manage Usage, I can see Videos thumbnail images displayed. When I click on Videos, all of my movies and their file sizes display to the right. Also, all of the artwork for the video files displays correctly when viewed here as small thumbnails.
I also have a rather small capacity iPhone 4s that I have placed just 2 video files into. It too is running iOS 8.0.2. for iPhone. Both of the video files are also on my iPad mini. Both videos were created by me and added to my iTunes Library. Both have artwork that I downloaded and then associated to each of the video files. Of the two videos, one displays it's custom artwork while the other does not. Each file replicates it's behaviour on each of my devices.
I have restored my iPad mini twice and have restored from backup both times. The problematic behaviour remains. I realize that my backup is probably corrupted with this problem as well and that the "Restore as new" option would most likely correct it. I don't want to have to re-enter all of the account, log in and password information for the up to 400 odd apps I have installed nor do I want to have to recreate all of my custom folders for grouping my apps.. This would take me a couple of days to sort out.
Does anyone have a suggestion on how to correct this situation without having to "Restore as new"? Should I just wait it out for iOS 8.1 and hope this bug is corrected in that release? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

    I have an iPhone 5C.
iOS 8.0 disabled my Wi-Fi. Actually not just disabled, it made my phone behave as it did not have W-Fi.  I could not re-enable it.
Restarting my phone or resetting network settings made me no difference.
    Solution:
Power down iPhone for a few minutes
Power-up and Wi-Fi is back again!
After updating to the latest iOS 8.0.2 it disabled my Wi-Fi again. Following the power-down procedure above fixed it.

  • IPad to AppleTV sound only - built in Video App

I used to be able to airplay from my ipad to my appletv but now only sound plays, no video. I have made sure my iPad and AppleTV (latest version) are all running up to date software.
I am trying to play via the built in Video app on the iPad , not a third party app.
    This used to work.
How can I get it working again.  I've also tried restarting the Apple TV and the iPad multiple times - didn't help

My router is an Airport Extreme. It's a Walking Dead Episode I bought on iTunes.
I worked at Apple in Core OS doing Mac OS X kernel development for 21 years so I know something about Apple products.  This is some kind of bug and not ''user error''
I can occasionally get it to play a video by constantly trying over and over again and also restarting my ipad and appletv - there is no rhyme or reason as to when it will actually play and episode. And then the next time I try it will just do the sound again.
This did not used to happen - probably 2-3 months ago it would play 100% of the time
    Really annoying.

  • IPad Video App Subtitles Glitch

The Video app on the iPad seems to have an issue or two with soft subtitles.
First, the Video player disregards the size settings, or for some reason scales them down, so a subtitle track that's set to be 60 pixels high on a 640x480 video will clearly not be the same size as they are when the video is played in iTunes, it seems to be around half the size.
This affects the width the the subtitles as well. A particularly long subtitle, the sort that wraps to two lines in iTunes, simply gets cut off on the iPad, even though there's lots of room available with the smaller subtitles. It won't wrap subtitles to two lines either, just cut them off.
Finally, not a bug, but the behavior in Quicktime is to remember that a user has 'show subtitles' selected from video to video. iTunes and iPad Video both require that the subtitles be selected on every video. It would be nice if there was some universal toggle like there is in Quicktime.

There is a major problem with these subtitling circus which for me is very disapointing. It is totally not Apple. Apple was always exciding customer expectations. With subtitles they stoped halfway. Sometimes QT displays subtitles beautifully, iTunes a bit worse. Then Apple TV terrible. Along came iPad which subtitles handling is a joke. Major thing is that subtitles are in such a place in the screen that you need to decide if you want to watch movie or read subtitles. No, wait. No need for decision - they are so small you can not read them anyway. I am from Poland and I heavy depend on subtitles and Apple evendid not concider adding Polish language to subtitles selection. How far it can be from German to Polish. At least closer than to cyrilic. It is crucial they fix it asap. BTW i just typed that from my iPad, not spell check so sorry to all English native speakers. Regards.

  • Video app becomes corrupted after streaming iTunes purchases

I wasn't sure what to use for a title here, but chose this because it captures much of what I am seeing.
    Hardware:
    3rd gen iPad, 32GB, iOS 7.0.4
    What I am doing:
I purchase TV shows and movies from the iTunes store, but as we watch them while on the home Wifi network, there is no need to download the content to a device before viewing. Once a TV show or movie is purchased, it can be viewed in the Videos app as streaming content, much the same way that it does on Apple TV (which doesn't permanently store anything).
Key observation: I usually make these purchases through the Videos app itself, rather than going explicitly to the iTunes Store app. I am not sure this makes a difference, but it may.
    What happens:
It all works well for several weeks or months. Then 3 bad things happen:
    1) During this time I observe that the available space on the iPad steadily decreases (viewed through Settings -> General -> Usage). It starts with a value of approximately 12GB free space, and then declines, despite the fact that I am not storing any media files locally. After approximately 2 months, I now have 5GB free, and cannot account for the "missing" 7GB, not even close.
While it is to be expected that any streaming device must temporarily store content, that content is usually cleared after viewing or after some predetermined time interval, etc. I do not expect this content to simply accumulate endlessly.
    2) Eventually, videos will fail to work properly. I will attempt to watch a purchased item, and it will run painfully slow, and may be missing audio. I check Usage, and my free space continues to decline. Subsequent attempts to view TV show and movies are now unreliable.
Big clue: shows that do not work properly cannot be deleted or downloaded locally.
    3) The entire iPad becomes notably slower and less responsive running all of my usual apps (Pages, Numbers, Facebook, etc.)
What I tried that was illuminating:
I noted that under Settings -> General -> Usage, it shows the Video app as containing "No data". So, I tried downloading a different purchased video in order to guarantee that there is some data. While this video plays within the Video app, I observe that Usage still shows the Video app as having "No data", which is verifiably untrue.
Conclusion: the database used by the Videos app is failing to purge old streamed content, becoming corrupted, and now failing to report data storage to iOS.
    What works:
Sadly, the only cure for this problem is a complete erase/restore of the iPad from iCloud backup. When I do this, all of my "missing" storage returns, and videos work normally. The iPad performance returns to its usual snappy self. But the cycle repeats, and I must eventually go through the 3+ hour restore process again.
This solution is 100% consistent with a corrupt database, and hence I suspect that the Video app is the culprit, consuming space until other systems are affected.
    Has anyone else seen this?

I'm experiencing this exact issue on two devices:
    iPhone 4S 32GB
    iPad Air 64 GB
Both while running iOS 7.03 and 7.04 (recently updated both devices to 7.04 hoping it would help. It didn't)
My iPhone had become nearly unusable until I found your post. It had apparently accumulated >12 GB of "temporary streamed content", as after I did a backup/wipe/restore, I had recovered to around 12 GB free space.
It's unfortunate that the fix requires a complete reset/restore cycle, as it's very time-consuming, but thanks for providing that fix! It saved my iPhone 4S. Now I can comfortable wait until the 6 comes out to get a new iPhone.
Really, though, this seems like a critical bug for iOS devices. I'll certainly not stream any iTunes content until/unless this is fixed. I found that if I turn off "Show all Videos" in the Video App settings, it doesn't show the iTunes cloud content for streaming from within the App. This forces me into iTunes to do a full download if I want to watch something. Kind of a pain, but it beats a device that's maxed out on storage and basically bricked.

  • Help solving iOS iTunes video app issue

    hello all,
i have a weird issue on my iOS devices vs my Apple TV and Mac Mini running Yosemite. All my devices are updates to the latest OSs.
the issue is, whenever I purchase or redeem a movie. It is always ready for streaming from the cloud on my Apple TV and Mac Mini.
but on my iPad 4 and iPhone 5s that same movie takes days and sometimes over a week to show up in the video app for streaming. Yes I do know I can download the movie. But why does it take so long to populate on my iPhone and iPad vs my Apple TV and Mac??
can anyone help me resolve this issue?

    Hi Nikesh
I am having the same problem.  I downloaded purchased workout videos onto my iMac then I transfer them to my iPad and hook it up to my TV. It worked great on iOS6 but now I can't see the chapters on iOS7.  The workout videos are under Home Videos Tab and there is no way to see the chapters.
Have you found any solutions to this?  a different app?  Soooooo frustrating!
    thanks
    Laura

  • Video  App Freezes iPad 2

Shouldn't the app state cannot play, rather than stay dark, become unresponsive and not allow other videos to play?? WEAK software --BUG fix! Discussion is full of this issue--where is the fix? The app used to play videos needs to be more ROBUST! Had to do a complete restore - not even owned for a week yet!

New IPad2 here. Downloaded first film from iTunes store couple days ago. Started watching tonight. After 60 min the video froze. Backing it up a few minutes and playing again led to a second freeze at same spot. Third try: same result.
Then tried sliding past the "freeze spot". This gave me a black screen. Now I cannot get past that black screen: not after quitting Videos App; not after iPad shut_down/restart; not after iPad reSET; not after all SETTINGS were reset and iPad again reSET.
I think I'll try googling for how to delete a [pre-installed ] app. I'm not optimistic. May mean 90 min drive to a Genius bar
