Bug InDesign CS 6 bei Effekt "Abgeflachte Kante" mit gleichzeitigem Scherwinkel bei PDF-Export

Hallo zusammen,
ich habe einen Bug bei InDesign CS6 entdeckt: Ich habe einen Button mit Eckenrundungen, Farbe, einem Drehwinkel von 5° und einem Scherwinkel von 5° mit Schlagschatten und dem Effekt "Abgeflachte Kante" in Indesign CS 5.5 erstellt. Wenn ich die Datei in InDesign CS6 öffne, scheint optisch alles in Ordnung zu sein, aber wenn ich die Datei in ein Druck-PDF exportiere, geht der Effekt "Abgefalchte Kante" verloren (Schlagschatten ist o.k.)!
Nach langem Probieren habe ich folgendes festgestellt:
Wenn ich einen Scherwinkel von z.B. 5° bei einem Objekt (Form) oder bei einer Schrift einstelle und diese Elelemente dann mit dem Effekt "Abgeflachte Kante" belege, so schlägt der PDF-Export dieses Effektes fehl. Schalte ich den Scherwinkel aus, so funktioniert der Export tadellos.
Auch bei neu erstellten Elementen und Schriften mit dem Effekt "Abgeflachte Kante" bei gleichzeitiger Verzerrung von egal wieviel Grad ist dies der Fall (auch ohne Eckenrundung)!
Any ideas? Bitte um Nachstellung und Feedback - vielen Dank!

Ich habe mir schon ein Support-Ticket geholt und gebe die Sache mit Screenschots weiter - ich hatte nur gehofft, dass der eine oder andere das mal eben probiert und dann sieht man, ob das ein generelles Problem ist. Wäre ja recht schnell ausprobiert. Ich habe die Sache auf 2 PCs nachstellen können, aber mich hätten halt Versuche auf anderen Systemen interessiert.
Macht aber nichts, ich werde ert einmal den Support abwarten und dann sehen, ob die den Bug nachvollziehen können, oder nicht.

Mit welchem Programm betrachtest Du die PDFs? Nur mit Acrobat können sie zuverlässig dargestellt werden.
Die PDF-Versionen heißen PDF1.3 oder 1.6 und nicht Acrobat 1.3 oder 1.6, Acrobat ist das Programm, PDF das Dateiformat.
NEIN, das ganze in Photoshop zu rastern ist keine taugliche Lösung, Du musst nur das richtige Betrachtungsprogramm wählen. Etwa Apple Vorschau ist untauglich, PDFs korrekt darzustellen.

Was soll sich daraus ergeben? Ohne Systeminfo und andere Details, wie z.B. was für Features du in deinem Layout nutzt und wie die Exporteinstellungen sind, ist der beste Crashreport nutzlos. Ja, wir sehen, dass das entsprechedne Plugin crasht, aber das hätte auch deine Oma ohne irgendwelche Computerkenntnisse erkannt....

WIe sind Deine Farbeinstellungen: Bearbeiten > Farbeinstellungen? Vor allem was sind die verwendeten CMYK-Richtlinien.
Das Problem ist dann gegeben, wenn Dein Dokument in einem CMYK-Farbprofil angelegt ist (und Deine Grafiken) und die Ausgabe erfolgt auf ein anderes Farbprofil.
Damit der Farbeindruck gleich bleibt, werden die Farben in ein anderes Farbprofil konvertiert, damit die Farbwerte gleich bleiben, wird die Einstellung Werte erhalten verwendet. Das ist eben in den Farbeinstellungen generell festgelegt, kann jedoch spezifisch beim PDF-Export abweichend gewählt werden.
Bei der Verwendung von CMYK-Bildmaterial steht man bei einem abweichenden Ausgabeprofil vor dem Dilemma, entweder man erhält die Farbwerte und verändert den Farbeindruck der Bilder oder man konvertiert und konvertiert daurch auch in buntes Schwarz.
Die einfache Lösung in InDesign ist, dass man ausschließlich Bilder, also Fotos, in RGB platziert und Vektoren als CMYK und dann bei der Ausgabe „Werte erhalten” wählt.

BUG: Indesign CC 2014 - significant image artifacts with 'export as JPG'

Issue
Spreads exported from InDesign as maximum quality JPGs have heavy artifacts not present in PDF's with equivalent image compression settings.
Steps
Export spread to JPG (max, baseline, 300ppi)
Export spread to PDF (image compression set to JPG, maximum)
Compare both files in Photoshop at 100%
Results
Maximum quality JPGs are significantly artifacted.
Expected Results
Maximum quality JPGs should be identical to PDF images with equivalent image compression settings (and should be virtually indistinguishable from original files sized equivalently in Photoshop (and saved via Photoshop's 'Save for Web').
Please Note
I'm very familiar with the limitations of JPG's in pre-press work. Please trust that I have legitimate reasons for needing InDesign to export spreads as JPGs with the same image quality as is possible when exporting as a PDF (or using Photoshop's 'Save For Web' function with the source file sized identically as the spread in question.)

Thank you for running your test!
Since posting (and just before reading your reply), I discovered an additional constraint on replicating the issue:
–it only appears when the linked image has been upscaled* (in my example, 107.1%)
*keep in mind, the PDF was upscaled to the same degree, ruling out it being solely an upscaling issue
–testing at 'even-magnification' scales (i.e. 150%) simply resulted in increased pixelation compared to the same PDF export (see samples below)
–testing at 'odd-magnification' scales (i.e. 101%) generated random artifacts (like those visible in the samples of my initial post)
–as such, this is likely more of a resampling/aliasing issue than jpg-artifacting.
That is, it would seem that upscaled images seem to enjoy a higher-quality resampling method when exported as PDFs.
I'd be curious to see how your test fared with upscaled images.

InDesign PDF Export Color Issues

So I've encountered a frustrating problem that I know others have experienced. It involves the PDF export from InDesign where the PDF color is not matching the document view. It's a critical issue regarding soft proofs for designs where color needs to match the desired result. I never had any issues before but now it's kicked in after upgrading to Mountain Lion and CS6.
Let me preface a few things first...
Yes, I've callibrated my monitor
Yes, Creative Suite color settings are in sync.
Yes, I've tried the changing transparency blend space... makes no difference.
In my case I have an RGB TIFF placed which has dark midnight blue to light blue tones. When I do an export and it doesn't matter what PDF settings I use the color shifts making it more purplish bllue and the lighter blue tones go away.
BUT, when I export a JPEG, the JPEG looks PERFECT, just like it should and matches the document view.
So I figured the problem must've been solved with the new Acrobat XI... I download the trial and installed it. I created a new PDF and it comes up looking like it should. GREAT, except for the price to update to Acrobat Pro XI!
THEN, some message comes up about trusted certificates?! I click ok... and the color on the PDF goes wrong again! What is the problem with this CRAP? HOW DO I FIX THIS GARBAGE? Is it fixable on the old version (Acrobat X)?
I've worked in Adobe products for years but they are going backwards and becoming more problematic by the day. Not to mention it's ridiculous to have to pay $200 to get a new version of Acrobat Pro after recently buying CS6. This is an insult to long time professional customers, you should be providing this update FREE to makeup for your broken, out of sync with Apple CRAP.

Well any local application change to the color settings is going to show up out of sync
All syncing does is match the application's Working CMYK and RGB settings, but the only case where a Working profile color manages a document is when the doc has no profile assignment. So if I sync to North American General my Working CMYK space is US SWOP, but if I open a document with US Sheetfed assigned, US Sheetfed manages the preview not US SWOP.
I'm not saying you aren't experiencing a bug, but you have to be sure of what profile assignments or simulation profiles are driving the preview and syncing doesn't do that. How you export (are you including profiles?, making a conversion?), and what device you are simulating in both programs can make syncing meaningless for existing document's previews.
I can't test X but with XI if you export a PDF/X-4 (where there's no conversion and all profiles are included), the preview with Output Preview closed shows RGB objects unchanged—same as ID with Overprint/Sep Preview Off.
When I open Output Preview the initial Simulation profile is the PDF/X-4 output intent which is the ID doc's assigned profile, in that case RGB objects preview in the output intent's CMYK space—same as ID with Overprint on.

PDF-Export Dialogbox in InDesign CC

Hallo zusammen,
ich habe ein Frage zur PDF-Export Dialogbox in InDesign CC (zu erreichen über cmd+e). In bisherigen Versionen der Creative Suite war es so, dass der Seitenbereich automatisch markiert war und man sofort den benötigten Seitenbereich eintippen konnte (z. B. 62-63).
Das war sehr komfortabel, wenn man von einem mehrseitigen InDesign Dokument mehrere PDF's mit jeweils 2 Seiten machen musste. Einfach cmd+e und schon konnte ich den gewünschten Seitenbereich eingeben.
In InDesign CC geht das irgendwie nicht mehr. Sehr umständlich. Man muss sich jedesmal mit Tab zum Eingabefeld 'Bereich' durchtippen oder 'Alle Seiten' von Hand markieren und durch den gewünschten Seitenbereich ersetzen.
Das ist unglaublich umständlich, da ich diesen Vorgang bei meiner Arbeit sehr oft wiederholen muss. Gibt es eine Lösung oder ein Skript, mit dem sich der Seitenbereich nach cmd+e automatisch markieren lässt?

Wenn Du sowas oft machen musst, schau Dir das Plugin Output Factory http://zevrix.com/index.php an, die kostet was, aber für 30 Tage ist die Testversion frei. Die mag vielleicht alle Aufgaben, die Dir so im Zusammenhang mti der Ausgabe nerven, automatisieren. Manchmal gibt es die zum halben Preis, oder noch weniger, mal 30 Tage ausprobieren und Preise beobachten.

Bilder gekachelt bei PDF Ausgabe

ich habe mal wieder eine Frage die mir bestimmt jemand beantworten kann. Wenn man eine PDF exportiert und in der PDF dann die Bilder gekachelt sind, also ein Bild in mehrere kleine Stücke zerteilt sind, liegt das einzig daran welche PDF Version ich benutze? Also bekomme ich ab Version 1.4 erst ganze Bilder? Oder kann das noch mit etwas anderem zusammenhängen?

Jein, es liegt an der Transparenzreduzierung.
Wenn Dateien, bei denen die Transparenz reduziert wird, erstellt werden, dann kommt es zur Atomarisierung der Bilder, die werden zerteilt in kleine Bildbestandteile. (Den Begriff hat ein Acrobat-Entwickler in einem anderen Forum verwendet.)
Zur Transparenzreduzierung kommt es dann, wenn PDF1.3 exportiert werden, ab PDF1.4 kommt es bei der Erstellung über Drucken und PostScript auch dazu.
Diese Striche sind nur bei Vektorkantenglättung im Acrobat sichtbar und dürfen im Druck nicht sichtbar sein.
Sollten PDFs zum Platzieren in InDesign und Photoshop verwendet werden, dann kann im weiteren Prozess diese Zerschneidung wieder sichtbar werden. Etwa wenn ein PDF-Layout als Bild in InDesign verwendet wird und ein ePub (oder andere Formate auch) exportiert wird. Dann sind die Schnitte oft als weiße Striche sichtbar. Deswegen soll für die Verwendung zur Platzierung von PDFs in InDesign immer eine nichttransparentreduzierte Version verwendet und angefordert werden, etwa ein PDF/X4:2010. (Auch dann, wenn die Durckerei später ein X3 verlangen sollte.)

Single letters dropping out in PDFs exported from Indesign CS

We are having font issues in some of our magazine's advertisements which proved very costly last month. First let me describe the work flow.
We designed an ad in Indesign CS then exported it using the press setting in Indesign's PDF export option. Here the ad looked and printed fine. The ad was then placed in another Indesign file which was for the layout of one of our magazines. Here the ad still looked fine on screen and when printed out from Indesign. This next step is where the font issue occurs.
When we export the the final magazine's press ready Indesign file, through the PDF press setting in Indesign again, single letters in these problem ads drop out. For example all of the Ds' in the entire ad will be missing. So a sentence in the ad that read "Dirt is Dark" will read " irt is ark."
I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem occur and if they have a solution. The only thing I can think of is in the compression settings there is an option to compress text and line art. We are going to try to uncheck that box to see if it fixes the problem.

I realized, of course, that it does make a difference. If you don't have the fonts on your system, a frequent issue with incoming ads, you couldn't embed the full font at all. You need to be sure that ads generated in CS have fully embedded fonts, not subsets, or risk dropouts. It will only happen when more than one ad uses the same font, but different glyphs.

PDFs exported from InDesign cannot be printed

Our Marketing Manager is using Adobe InDesign and exports her documents to PDF. These PDFs won't print in any of our printers in the office. It spools and then gets stuck and it actually makes our HP Coloured Laser Printer throw an error (error 79) and we'll have to restart the printer due to this error. We can print other documents and other PDFs in the printer so we know it's not a printer driver issue. In fact, we have isolated the problem to only PDFs exported from InDesign. Even if we create a blank document or add just text from InDesign and export it to PDF it still won't print. Really odd.
**I also posted this in the InDesign thread but was asked to post it here too. I tried printing the document using Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Reader with no luck. We tried printing directly from InDesign but it is inconsistent, sometimes it will print but most of the time it does not.

Hmm. Yeah. The ID forum may be more help. Especially if it's also a problem in ID.
My first suspect would be corrupt fonts or possibly an image file. Can you create a blank ID file with no text (maybe insert just an image or something that isn't on any of the other ID files) pdf it and print it?

Indesign CS5 - Problems with PDF-Export

we do have a problem with Indesign CS5 and exporting data into PDF. It is about that logo on that white surface, which doesnt come along with the rest after the pdf-export. What we did was: We created that white surface in Indesign itself, put an effect on it with the Indesign effect gallery and then imported the logo in the surface ... the logo itself is .psd data. So, if we export it into pdf like that, it is just dissapeared. Does anyone have had a similar problem and what can be done about it?
By the way ... if you put, for example, a simple backgroundshadow on a picture ... done also with the Indesign effect gallery, then you get just a white surface instead of the shadow, after the export into pdf. It does maybe correlate with the other problem ... not sure. Any suggestions?

I would create the entire logo, including the white background, in Illustrator, save as PDF and place that in ID.

InDesign CS5 PDF export status

It seems that now with CS5 we no longer receive a pdf export status bar. Export is running in background. When exporting large files, the only way I know it's still working or exporting is the error message when I try and close document... Saying task running in BKG.
In Cs3 and 4 there was a status bar that displayed progress. Is this a preference that can be turned on or off?
Annoying when exporting large files with many pages...

Best way to get SharePoint workflow to trigger InDesign XML refresh and PDF export?

What is the best way to get a SharePoint workflow to trigger the refresh of an XML datasource within an InDesign document, and generate a PDF export? The datasource would be hosted by SharePoint.
Would InDesign Server be required?

My understanding of the license is that Adobe requires you to use InDesign Server for this sort of thing.
But the implementation is probably the same either way. Periodically poll, or find some way to trigger it.

InDesign PDF Export Problem

PDF Export in InDesign CS6 yields thin, light text. I need accurate rendering in pdf for hardcopy publication. Quality is imperative. Can you please help? I use Creative Cloud applications.

Indesign PDF Export issue - quality

I have InDesign Desktop CS5 and InDesign Server CS5.5
When I export using InDesign Desktop, it exports a 2.16mb file and everything is sharp.
When I export using Indesign Server, it exports a 264kb file and at 125% zoom level, it looks blurry.
The preset we used was High Quality Print.
I cannot get the file over 2mb on InDesign Server (max was 1.2mb with all the settings turned on).
How can this be when it's using the same pdf export preset and same template? I also tried manually creating new preset based on the High Quality Print settings but it's still blurry.
Just for testing, I tried this on the regular InDesign Server CS5, and it exported fine. What settings were changed between CS5 and CS5.5 (everything is set to default settings)?

The directory structure for the template files are the same for Desktop and Server.
When I open up the PDFs generated by both, doing a side by side comparision, the server looks blurry at 125% zoom level while desktop looks sharp.
