BUG!: JDeveloper 11g Tutorial code is incomplete.

I am attempting the complete the JDeveloper 11g Tutorial from the Fusion Developer's Guide for Oracle Application Development Framework
After adding all the latest jars available from the ADF Installer to the StoreFrontModule I am left with 10 errors all of with seem to be the result of missing methods (especially findByAltKey) from both Oracle packages and the tutorials code itself. The errors and the .java files affected are listed below. Please let me know if you need more information or if you have a solution to these compilation errors.

Go into project properties - technology scope and add ADF BC.

  • BUG: JDeveloper BC4J Tutorial is incorrect

I have searched everywhere, but cannot find a correct working solution for this problem.
    Description:

Help Menu -> Help Topics -> Tutorial
In the BC4J Tutorial titled "Business Components Programmatic Client Tutorial",
I have run all the steps and the compiler gives me the error:

    + </body>+

Why JDeveloper editor show error on second variant?

Hi the stings seems identical to me. However, the code seems kind of malfunctioning to ma anyway
    <% String s=true?"onload=('top.location.replace(\"test.jsp\");')":""; %>;
this is no comparison. You assign the value true to the String s. To use the notation you want, this would have been a check for equality "=="
    <%=true?
What is "true" ? Is it a variable you defined ? The directive you use is one where you assign values to a variable

  • [SOLVED] JDeveloper 11g Data Controls Accordion Missing

Hello all, this is my first post in the forums. I am following the JDeveloper 11g tutorial found here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe11jdev/11/rich_client/adfrichclient.htm
However, once I get to the section "ADF Table Component and ADF Binding" step 2 tells me to open my Data Control Accordion in the Application Navigator, which I cannot find. In JDeveloper 10g you could easily open it via View | Data Control Palette (if I am not mistaken).
Inside the Application Navigator the only accordions I see are, "Projects", "Application Resources", and "Recently Opened Files". Also note that I am using the "Default Role" schema.

Shay I apologize for the mistake, I think your link is incorrect; however, I've found the correct forum at:
JDeveloper and OC4J 11g Technology Preview
You were right about this problem, I had initially started JDeveloper 11g in "Java EE" role. Eventually I changed it to "Default" role on my own via Tools | Preferences | Roles - this apparently is what caused my problem.
Being on a *nix machine I followed your instructions and ran the following command:
    <jdev_home>/jdev/bin/jdev -su
I was prompted for role selection and user migration and it gave me a fresh start. I can now see my Data Controls Accordion. Big thanks!

  • JDeveloper 11g - exception when trying to set Code Style in Preferences

    Hi forum
I have just installed the new JDeveloper 11g and have upgraded my projects, and would now like to define my code style. But when I open Preferences -> Code Editor -> Code Style, I get the following error. Is this a known issue? Not being able to set my coding style like I'm used to is pretty annoying...
    Thanks in advance,

    To anyone else encountering this:
I would just like to report, that Oracle Development has managed to reproduce this problem from scratch by following a similar upgrade path 10.1.3.0->10.1.3.4->11.1.1.0. The problem is NOT OS-related, but related to migrating the user settings from 10.1.3.3. So Jan you were right about that. Credits go to you :)
The only workaround for me has so far been to take a backup of my old SYSTEM directory causing the problem, and I have been forced to carefully recreate all my settings to get around this problem, since I already removed my old 10.1.3.3 installation, assuming the migration went OK - which it didn't... So, I will keep my old backup, in the hope that Development finds a fix to this issue, so I can go back to the settings I used to have, even though I THINK I have recreated them all for 11g - not completely sure though... time will tell.
Until then, I will track the bug, that Didier has logged for me, which he mentioned in his post.
    Regards,
    Jacob

There isn't an end to end tutorial with the stack you are looking at, but:L
You can start with this tutorial that uses EclipseLink for JPA to build the model layer:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe11jdev/ps1/ejb/ejb.html
Here is a little example of how you can use Trinidad components (open source) in JDeveloper 11g for visual JSF development:
    http://blogs.oracle.com/shay/2009/02/using_trinidad_in_jdeveloper_1.html
using MySQL would just mean adding the MySQL JDBC driver to JDeveloper, and to the integrated WebLogic - like this:

  • Tutorial usage - JDeveloper 11g Release 2 on Windows Home Edition

    Hi,
I have been running the tutorial - http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E18941_01/tutorials/jdtut_11r2_51/jdtut_11r2_51_1.html and I have gotten the samples to work but a strange phenomenon has occurred a couple of times. I run the program and all is fine. Then I close everything down and when I restart JDeveloper my CONNECTION code is no longer there. I can fix this by right-clicking Connections and re-adding the DB connection but this struck me as odd behavior.
Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong.
    Thanks,
    Bob

    Thanks Frank!
Since I was able to recreate the connection without affecting the program, its a good work around.
I will be going through all of the tutorials, so, if I find anything else, is this the best place to report them?
    Thanks again,
    Bob

  • Problem with tutorial; "Build a Web Application with JDeveloper 11g Using "

I've got a rather new installation of Vista Business x64 on my developer rig, and last week I installed the new JDeveloper 11g version. The installation was all-inclusive, no customization on my end.
In addition I've got a test installation of an Oracle DB 11gR1 on an available server here.
To familiarize myself with the new JDeveloper I decided to spend some time with the JDeveloper 11g tutorials found here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe11jdev/11/index.html.
I've started twice on the second tutorial, "Build a Web Application with JDeveloper 11g Using EJB, JPA, and JavaServer Faces", and find myself repeatedly stuck at step 19 in section "Creating the Data Model and Testing it".
It seems impossible to deploy the application to the default application server. The server starts fine on its own, I can access it via the admin console on port 7001 and it looks good. However, when I try to run the HRFacadeBean funny things are happening, symptomized by the following error messages seen in the IDE log-area:
    The "Messages" pane displays:

I'm not that familiar with these things but it seems to me that there is an issue with port numbers here. The application seems to expect a app.server service at port 7101, but does'nt find one.
Any suggestions on how to fix this problem would be appreciated?

    Jupp,
It fails in a similar way.
What I did was; create a simle 'Hello World' html file, saving it with the jsp extension. In Jdev11g i made a new application and an emtpy project, then loaded the jsp file and made it the default run-target. This compiles nicely.
When running the project it first attempts to start the WebLogicServer (WLS). After a few minutes it is started as seen in the "Running: DefaultServer" pane:
    C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\base_domain\bin\startWebLogic.cmd
[waiting for the server to complete its initialization...]

    DefaultServer started.
In the "Messages" pane, however, things are not looking so good:

[Application TestAppJsp is bound to Server Instance DefaultServer]
    [Starting Server Instance DefaultServer]
    #### Server Instance DefaultServer could not be started: Server Instance was terminated.
But, of course, the server is actually running as I can access it via its Admin Console.
So, I try to run the project again, and this time the following is shown in the "Messages" pane:
    Compiling...
    Context: MakeProjectAndDependenciesCommand application=TestAppJsp.jws project=TestProjJsp.jpr
[7:26:39 PM] Successful compilation: 0 errors, 0 warnings.
[Application TestAppJsp is bound to Server Instance DefaultServer]
    [Starting Server Instance DefaultServer]
    #### Server Instance DefaultServer could not be started: Server Instance was terminated.
The "Running: DefaultServer" now comes up with:
    C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\base_domain\bin\startWebLogic.cmd
[waiting for the server to complete its initialization...]
[Server Instance DefaultServer is shutting down.  All applications currently running will be terminated and undeployed.]
    Process exited.
The WLS is still running though as I can still access its adm console.
To me it seems that it is attempting to start a separate instance of the WLS for each run attempt, but then I could be wrong.....:(
Later I'll try to change the default WLS port from 7001 to 7101 as suggested in another port here.
I must admit that I'm a bit surprised that the JDev11g doesn't work fine at this very simple level when performing a default install.

  • Blog post : "Bug in Create/Edit View Criteria Wizard (JDeveloper 11g)"

    hi
Using steps 1 to 13 from the blog post "Bug in Create/Edit View Criteria Wizard (JDeveloper 11g)" by Andrejus Baranovskis, I have been able to reproduce the issue he describes.
    see http://andrejusb.blogspot.com/2008/12/bug-in-createedit-view-criteria-wizard.html
I the blog post comments he writes "... there was no time for me to fill bug in Metalink ...".
Maybe someone from Oracle can pick it up from this forum post and file it as a bug if it is one (and if possible post the bug number here).
    many thanks
    Jan Vervecken

The mechanism is to create a reproduceable test case, create a Service Request in metalink.oracle.com, post the test case, and convince the analyst to file it as a bug.
It may be not efficient at some time, but this the way it is handled.

    Hello,
I am using Jdeveloper 11g (11.1.2.1.0). I am using employee table. In my EO for HIREDATE attribute, I am choosing default value radio button SQL; entered valid SQL statement (Ex. Select Sysdate from dual). As soon as I save, the HIREDATE column becoming Transient. It is not allowing the attribute to Persistent. Is this a Bug.
    Thanks

Anybody from Oracle who has a workaround for this BUG?
We are migrating to JDev 11.1.1.2.0 for a client and this bug is still there!
Any help from the JDev team is highly appreciated!

  • Oracle JDeveloper 11g Handbook A Guide to Oracle Fusion Web Dev. (Tutorial)

I am using Oracle JDeveloper 11g Release 2(11.1.2.1.0) with the above mentioned book. In the tutorial on page 639 of chapter 18 the instruction #11 says "... Select the searchEmployees-flow under the Web Content \ Page Flows node in the Application Navigator. Drag it onto the second facet of the af:panelSplitter that you had previously add to that page, and select *Region* from the context menu. ..." When I follow these instructions I get the following error:
Cannot create a region from a task flow containing facelets fragments in a jspx page.
I am quite frankly stuck and cannot proceed with the tutorial unless I can get past this error.
Also, is it just me or is this text woefully out of date with the latest version of JDevelolper?
    Thanks

jsf is the new extension that is using facelets as the underlying engine in JSF 2.0.
That's what we recommend going forward.
jspx is what was used in JSF 1.2 in JDeveloper 11.1.1.*
We don't have a wizard that migrates jspx to jsf - so you can either create the new page from scratch or try and do some playing around with the header of the file to match the new format.

SEVERE: Server exiting: ApplicationServer entered state FAILED_IN_CONFIG
    The steps I took:
    1. 'Installed' JDeveloper TP4 (base) in folder d:\JDev, jdk1.5 on C:\Program Files\Java
2 tried to create application but got a different error constantly resulting in a 404 page and message that I should put debug_mode on true, and 'current-workspace-app is in failed state as initialization failed'
    3. deleted JDeveloper and extracted the zip again, in folder d:\JDeveloper
    4. I've created a fusion web application (ADF), opened faces-config, place a home.jspx on there and created the .jspx. I didn't put any content on the page.
Does anyone see what I'm doing wrong of forgot to do?
    Thanks!
    Regards,
    Diana
