Bug? Large horizontal grey area btween toolbar and inspector+browser?

Hey!
Since a few days back a large grey horizontal area has emerged between the toolbar and the inspector+main viewer/browser. Has anyone else experienced this? I think it emerged first when I was switching between different main viewer/browser, show/hide toolbar etc., but now it won't go away no matter what I try to show or hide!

I have the same problem. I tried to hide the toolbar once and was really happy to gain lots of screen real estate. Then, the next time I started Aperture 2 I found the grey space. Now, it doesn't matter if I hide or show the toolbar, I get the wasted space (Ironic, as I was trying to save space in the first place).

Large Blank/grey area between recieved email list and actual message HELP!

This happened suddenly when trying to show off the features of to do. all I did was delete the to do in the email message I was in and the email went hay wire sending a bunch of blank notes and now there is a blank/grey area between every message and the list of emails. The space is very large about 3 inches in length.

No problem. I think it is worth posting these things so Apple know and so others know. I have a number of issues and I was thinking about going back and doing and Archive and Install in case they had been caused by me just doing the upgrade. But when I see the issues come up here I know it's probably a bug. Like you say quite a few of them

How do you change the font size in grey area of toolbar?

How can I change the font on the grey area to make it bigger? I updated to mountain lion and it changed the font.

Those are hard coded, and cannot be changed as far as I know, without delving into the application itself with a code editor.

IMac monitor (my parents), the greys are so light and faint, they are almost impossible to see. especially in icalendar. i've gone into system preferences and i think i've tried everything there and checked the forums. no luck. any other suggestions?

Thank you. I didn't know about the universal access adjustment. All the way left is a little better, but still much fainter than on my own imac. I'm not sure why apple uses grey typeface, but it's so faint on this imac monitor that it was difficult to find the "reply" option on this post. Are there any other suggestions? thank you

Bug when saving - files are all inverted and transparent

Hi there,
I've been working on a job for a few hours now and I have still have it open in photoshop CS5 extended.
Basically if I save it out in ANY format (tiff, psb, psd, jpg) it is inverted and the transparency is all messed up.. when I look at it in bridge or reopen it in photoshop or preview, it's the same.
I have the file still open in photoshop and I'm scared to close it because it looks just fine on screen but when I try to do anything it is behaving strangely. for example if I convert to CMYK it goes to the inverted image which it saves out.
I deleted all the layers I am not using and rasterized all the dynamic objects and it's still doing the same thing
Is there any way I can save my file ? I've been working on it for a long time ???

After numerous attempts to rescue the file, I ended up having to recreate it..
I think it was down to a memory bug.. I did empty the clipboard as well during the creation of the file because I was having problems.. maybe it was down to that but I think it actually just became corrupted somehow !
I must admit, it's the first time I've encountered this problem in 15 years of working with photoshop !!

Homepage, Toolbar, and Default browser settings won't stay after logging out and then back in.

We have Firefox ESR 17.0.7. Our Enterprise uses Firefox as our default. We are trying to figure out why we keep some settings and lose other settings. Upon logging out we lose settings like Home Page, Toolbar changes and making Firefox the default browser. We can set them but overnight the setting will not exist anymore. We have tried creating a new profile using the profile manager and even pointing the profile folder to a different location to see if that helps. But to no avail.

You probably do not use CCleaner, but if you do, or if you use another "clean up" tool that runs at Windows launch or shutdown, make sure to create an exception for the Firefox Profiles folder.

Pages rememebers the last setting you used on images.
So if you had a border on the last image the next one you bring in will have one too.
To change that select:
Inspector > Graphic > Stroke > None
Spend a little time exploring the menus and particularly the Toolbar and Inspectors whcih are in reasonably logical progression from big things down to smaller details and clearly labeled.
It is also possible that you have show Layout on which outlines objects on th screen so you can see what's what. To change that:
Menu > View > Hide Layout

A larger monito is only helpful if the resolution is the same as your current monitor, and they tend to have higher resolutions as you get larger, so don't rush out an buy a larger monitor and expect miracles. If you have a 22" now and it's "HD" (1920 x 1080), you'll see some change as you go up in size, but you'd probably need at least a 27" screen at 1920 x 1080 to notice a real difference.
Right click on the desktop and choose Screen Resolution and you can see the current settings (probably the maximum value which is recommended) and other settings you can use. Lowering the resolution will make everything on the screen larger, but less stuff will fit. Used to be, too that ID did not work will at less than the maximum resolution setting for any monitor.
I did not mean to use the larger fonts feature, by the way, as far as I know that doesn't affect the ID user interface.
The point I was making, rather badly, is that those of us with declining eyesight are getting shafted because there is no way to make use of all the monitor potential and adjut the user interface to make things visible. I just bought a 30" monitor to replace my old 27" which had 1920 x 1200 resolution and was pretty usable, things were about the same size as my old sony 20" running at 1600 x 1200, but even though it is larger in terms of screen size, the new monitor is even higher resolution and things are actually smaller. The only reason I can use it with ID is I know where everything is.

Toolbars and Tools Palette show color AND grey Icons

Running FMv12 on Win7.
Both sets of icons are trying to show. However, Toolbars are cut off so only left several icons show, and remaining toolbar is blank all the way to right side of program window. Toolbar separators are shown all the way across, but segments are empty.
At same time, Tools Palette, docked to left side of screen, shows dual set of icons also, but they are jumbled. That is, they are not neatly arranged in two columns, and color or grey set is trying to display on top of the other, slightly offset. As if trying to display two sets of two columns, but overlapped.
* All above display correctly when FM first starts. Then, when User hovers something to use it, before he clicks, the screen changes as if tooltip timing, going to fail mode described above. Recovery requires restarting FM.
Also, document zoom, and other controls at bottom, are invisible until mouse hover. User has to hunt to find, and then with hover, controls appear as if tooltip; and then click works normal. Different from 3 above, these controls do not show at FM start/document open.
What we've tried:
Screen/Display Resolution. Tested high and low settings.
Undocking toolbars, palette, and document window. No effect.
Different combinations of Color/Grey and Large/Normal icon settings in preferences. Settings take affect correctly, but above symptoms still present.
Any help, please?

*Answering your last question, no other Apps are acting up. We did shut down SnagIt by TechSmith that was running in SysTray Program Icons. But other Screen Grab Apps, such as Windows Snip Tool, are not running, that we can tell looking at Task Mngr Apps & Processes. But you know how long that processes list can be. And I have no clue about what most of them are. But nothing stands out, even looking at the Description Column.

User's IT ran windows updates and company/desktop updates to give Drivers a chance to be the problem.
Then they uninstalled and reinstalled FMv12.
In User's AppData maker.ini, I deleted MakerWin and ConsoleWin window position lines, forcing FM to rewrite them.
I replaced his fmtoolbar.xml and fmtoolbar_review.xml files with mine.
*Here is what we will try next.
They will uninstall FMv10, and then reinstall v12 again. I do not expect there are issues between these two versions of FM. Originally, I understood other users there have v10 installed -- but now I find out, only on a second pc!
So they are also planning to put v12 on a separate pc for this user to see if it runs there.
[Interestingly, speaking of interaction between versions: At my own workstation, I had v7 and v9 working. After installing v12, I could not get v9 to start. It began crashing during load. It was intended only for testing a while back, so I simply removed it and all is well; with v7 and v12 installed on this pc.]
I am considering using my menus_xxx.cfg files next. His have significantly different dates that maybe FM is looking at, but cant hurt to try, even though the issue is with Toolbars and not Menus. Unless there is .cfg files for Toolbars.
Anyway, there is an update. While I realize all these details are a ton of reading, I knew you would at least be curious as to status or outcome.

In Mavericks iPhoto slide shows, why do the last pics come first, some pics are upside down, and some vertical pics are horizontal? How can I fix this?

On my iMac OSX, 10.9.4, Mavericks, I have been trying to view an album as a slide show. The slide show starts at the end (bottom row picture) instead of the beginning (top 1st picture). I have gone to View>Sort Photos>Manual. But the order of Ascending and Descending choices are greyed out with the default check by Ascending. How can I start at my beginning without rearranging all the photos? Also, some of the photos are upside down and sideways, even though they are correct in the album. How can I fix this?? Thank you! Also, can I include a video in the slide show? Up to how many seconds/minutes?

Is this a slideshow created directly from an album?
There's a bug with iPhoto 9.5 and Mavericks in that slideshows from Albums do not play correctly if they are sorted manually. Only photos that have been sorted by date, keyword, rating or title will play from albums correctly.
To have a slideshow with photos sorted manually use the slideshow mode in iPhoto.

Firefox asks me to update to 5.0, but I have rolled back to 4 because Google Toolbar and McAffee, among others are not updated for 5.0. When will the add-ons be updated?

The update for 5.0 came so quickly, that a very large number of the add-ons and extensions I use to keep it safe and operate the way I am used to are not working, the MOST important of these being Google Toolbar and McAfee site advisor. I am already using Chrome for work due to the known issues FireFox has with the Google Toolbar in 4.0, and although I am a HUGE fan of Firefox, this latest update that seems rushed just to meet a deadline set may be the straw the broke the Firefox's back!! Let me know what I can expect going forward
