Bug: lost selection after a mouse drag

To reproduce:
- select many entities in a diagram
- move them a bit via mouse drag
what happens
- the group loses focus. If you've been unfortunate, you've selected non-contiguous entities (via CTRL-click over) and now they are somewhere in the diagram, behind other entities, etc. and you can't move them back because you lost the group selection.
what should happen
- after the move, the group is still selected
Edited by: T. on Jun 6, 2011 5:06 AM

I have seen this too. I discovered that once they are all selected (ctrl-A) you need to be careful to then click inside one of the entities to do the drag otherwise it does get messed up. Undo fixes it sometimes. Other times I have exited without saving to get back to a previous arrangement.

    In general theory, one now has the Edit button for their posts, until someone/anyone Replies to it. I've had Edit available for weeks, as opposed to the old forum's ~ 30 mins.
    That, however, is in theory. I've posted, and immediately seen something that needed editing, only to find NO Replies, yet the Edit button is no longer available, only seconds later. Still, in that same thread, I'd have the Edit button from older posts, to which there had also been no Replies even after several days/weeks. Found one that had to be over a month old, and Edit was still there.
    Do not know the why/how of this behavior. At first, I thought that maybe there WAS a Reply, that "ate" my Edit button, but had not Refreshed on my screen. Refresh still showed no Replies, just no Edit either. In those cases, I just Reply and mention the [Edit].
    Also, it seems that the buttons get very scrambled at times, and Refresh does not always clear that up. I end up clicking where I "think" the right button should be and hope for the best. Seems that when the buttons do bunch up they can appear at random around the page, often three atop one another, and maybe one way the heck out in left-field.
    While I'm on a role, it would be nice to be able to switch between Flattened and Threaded Views on the fly. Each has a use, and having to go to Options and then come back down to the thread is a very slow process. Jive is probably incapable of this, but I can dream.

  • Some objects can't be selected when cloned (option drag) CS5

    Hi There,
    Several times in CS5, I've noticed that some objects disappear or can't be selected after they've been copied or cloned.
    I can't work out if the issues are related but I did notice that objects which disappear seem to have something to do with reordering automatically in the layers palate. For example, after copying or cloning, an object will move under an object even though it wasn't under it before copying.
    As for not being able to select objects, I currently have a line which I can't select after I optioned dragged it to a new location. At first I thought it had gone under another object as per the issues above but after hitting Command Y, I can see it but can't select it.
    Have triple checked that the line isn't locked - is there another command I might've hit that might lock an object or stop it from being edited?
    Anyway, all suggestions welcome!
    Cheers
    Ben

    Can anyone explain to me what is happening or how I can avoid having these adjacent objects show up on this file? I don't want to open and close each single artboard file because I have hundreds of them.
    Looks like that file got corrupt.
    Copy the one object from the problem file into a new file.
    Then delete the problem file.

    Hello
    Simple problem - don,t know how to solve it.
    With Premiere CC when I try to do a selection (click... drag... release the click) very often it stop way before the end of the move I'm swinging the Magic Mouse. I taught that the mouse clicking was defective and went to get a new Magic Mouse after lots of frustration. Today, I have an edit to do it it does the SAME thing !!
    I was like ????#$%?&*(???
    Opened all the lights and taught I've trow the new mouse to the garbage and was using the defective mouse again... no !! - ??
    Actually, the bran new mouse is doing the same thing. What I understand after investigating on the motion and watching carefully my fingers !! -  is that when I click I have to keep my finger at the EXACT same place on the mouse... drag and release and it's fine. If I click by pushing on the mouse and my finder is moving of a 1/32th of a millimeter, it will release and my selection will be to redo. You can understand my frustration ! - 75$ later... same problem, but I know that if I click with about 5 pounds of pressure and trying to pass my finger through the plastic of the mouse, it you stay steady and make it !
    The problem is that scrolling is enable while clicking and it bugs.
    How to disable it ??
    Simple question - can't find the answer !

    Helllooo !?
    sorry but the Magic Mouse is just useless with the new Adobe Premiere CC and since I'm not the only one but can't find answer this is really disappointing. This mouse is just fantastic and now I have to swap from a USB mouse to the Magic Mouse every times I do some editing. My USB mouse if hurting my hand somehow and I want to got back to the Magic Mouse asap. Please - for sure there is a simple solution !
    Thanks !!

    Hi. Whenever I go through one of the menus in firefox, the links remain highlighted after my mouse passes over them. Is there a bug fix for this or is there something wrong with my computer? I am running windows 7 if that helps. This problem started ever since I upgraded to version 5.

    I have downloaded and used the iPod Reset Utility, alot that did. My current state is iTunes on my XP Home with SP3 sees the iPod. When I drag a song to the iPod, the Sync message appears for about 5 minutes, then the Apple symbol appears. But no song has been transferred to the iPod.
    I tried to tap into the XP iTunes database from my iBook, but although it acted like it would add the XP library to the iBook library, it did not. I've got 19 Gs of songs on the XP. If I have to load each song from its original CD to get it on my iBook I'm going to start looking for some other app or device so that I can listen to my music.
    It is a shame, in the old days, Apple techs use to look at what was going on, now it appears they don't, so they never know they have problems until Apple's profits fall.

    You're correct, I've been looking all over for Mouse settings and I've yet to find anything. I don't have any alternative input device connected to my PC, just a Keyboard (G15) and Mouse (Razer Naga RZ01-0028). I am currently not utilizing the Razer Synapse software, which I am downloading now to see if that helps ease any issues. Here are my current rig details:

  • Mouse Drag in JDialog produces Mouse Enter & Mouse Exit events in JFrame.

    Hi, all.
    Do I have a misconception here? When I drag the mouse in a modal JDialog, mouseEntered and mouseExited events are being delivered to JComponents in the parent JFrame that currently happens to be beneath that JDialog. I would not have expected any events to be delivered to any component not in the modal JDialog while that JDialog is displayed.
    I submitted this as a bug many months ago, and have heard nothing back from Sun, nor can I find anything similar to this in BugTraq.
    Here is sample code:
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    * This class demonstrates what I believe are TWO bugs in Mouse Event handling in Swing
    * 1.1.3_1, 1.1.3_2, 1.1.3_3, and 1.4.0.
    * 1) When a MODAL JDialog is being displayed, and the cursor is DRAGGED from the JDialog
    *    into and across the parent JFrame, Mouse Enter and Mouse Exit events are given to
    *    the parent JFrame and/or it's child components.  It is my belief that NO such events
    *    should be delivered, that modal dialogs should prevent ANY user interaction with any
    *    component NOT in the JDialog.  Am I crazy?
    *    You can reproduce this simply by running the main() method, then dragging the cursor
    *    from the JDialog into and across the JFrame.
    * 2) When a MODAL JDialog is being displayed, and the cursor is DRAGGED across the JDialog,
    *    Mouse Enter and Mouse Exit events are given to the parent JFrame and/or it's child
    *    components.  This is in addition to the problem described above.
    *    You can reproduce this by dismissing the initial JDialog displayed when the main()
    *    method starts up, clicking on the "Perform Action" button in the JFrame, then dragging
    *    the cursor around the displayed JDialog.
    * The Mouse Enter and Mouse Exit events are reported via System.err.

    I guess we can think of this as one problem. When mouse dragged, JFrame also (Parent) receives events. If i understood correctly, what happens here is, Modal dialog creates its own event pump and Frame will be having its own. See the source code of Dialog's show() method. It uses an interface called Conditional to determine whether to block the events or yield it to parent pump.
    Here is the Conditional code and show method code from java.awt.dialog for reference
    package java.awt;
    * Conditional is used by the EventDispatchThread's message pumps to
    * determine if a given pump should continue to run, or should instead exit
    * and yield control to the parent pump.

        boolean evaluate();
    /////show method
        public void show() {
            if (!isModal()) {
                conditionalShow();
            } else {
                // Set this variable before calling conditionalShow(). That
                // way, if the Dialog is hidden right after being shown, we
                // won't mistakenly block this thread.
                keepBlocking = true;
                if (conditionalShow()) {
                    // We have two mechanisms for blocking: 1. If we're on the

  • How to draw AI annotation on document view during mouse drag

    I created a AI tool plugin, when use the tool, I hope press mouse left key and drag in document view, AI will draw a rectangle, when mouse up, the rectangle disappears, just like ordinary select tool. So I wrote a class to implement AIAnnotation, during mouse drag, just let the annotation been invalidated. but I see nothing displayed. In the draw funtion I just use DefineClipStart() and then draw a rectangle using AIAnnotation drawer, at last call DefineClipEnd(). After mouse up call ClearClip(). Could anyone tell me if I made something wrong? Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
    At the begining of ToolMouseDrag(AIToolMessage* message)
    add the five following lines, so toolAnnotate(AIAnnotatorMessage *message) will be called each the mouse will be dragged.
    AIDocumentViewHandle view;
    AIReal zoomview;
    AIErr error=kNoErr;
    //To call toolAnnotate.
    error=sDocView->GetNthDocumentView (0, &view);

  • Mouse Dragging slow on X Terminal (SunRay)

    Hi,
    We're getting some curious behaviour with mouse drag events when running our java client app on an X Terminal (a SunRay 1 in this case).
    It seems that events are not delivered to the client while the drag is in progress but only after the user stops moving the mouse for about a second. Needless to say, this is very annoying and kinda kills the interactivity in our app.
    This delay seems to get worse the faster you move the mouse.
    It's not just our app, either. All java apps we've tried do the same thing.
    The delay gets smaller if you go all the way back to JVM 1.2, but all newer versions have the problem.
    Sooooooo, what I'd like to know is:
    - is this a known problem with SunRays?
    - is there any configuration option in Java or the X Server I can tweak to improve performance?
    TIA,
    Andrew

  • Move tool issue : Command key + mouse dragging for moving any layer not working in PS CC

    I'm trying to move a layer within the document by holding command key and mouse dragging (mouse cursor not above the layer) is not working at all while using move tool. Suddenly this functionality stopped working. Now I have to place my cursor on layer to be move and drag with mouse. Also pressing command key changing auto select option from layer to group.
    Please help.

    Usually when a tool is not working as expected, a Reset of that tool might be the answer.
    Select the move tool in the toolbox,
    Go to the move tool icon on the top left of the screen (just above the toolbox in its' Option bar) and Ctrl-click on it to get the Reset menu.
    Click on Reset Tool.

    I fixed the issue in awt library but ORACLE license terms don't allow redistribution of modified version of awt.Something Oracle do allow is to raise a bug report. On that report they invite you to post a work-around or fix. That would be the place to put the fix you have devised. Oracle will (supposedly) fix it, then you (and everyone else) can enjoy the fix as a free upgrade in the next version.
    They also offer 'support contracts' (AFAIU) in which you might pursue your own immediate fixes. But raise the bug report anyway.

  • YAB - FM11 Find/Change using Selection drops selection after first find

    Yet another bug in FM11?
    If you are using a selection to limit the scope of a find/change, FM11 now drops the selection after the first find.  Consequently, it can't find anything else that matches as there is no more selection and you have to re-select again. What a PITA!
    In FM10 and earlier, FM would remember the selection and just keep searching until it reached the end of the selection.
    Can anybody verify this user-hostile (what's a QC test script?) behaviour in the latest pached version of FM11?

    I just changed modes in FM11 from strructured to unstructured. The problem does NOT occur in unstructured FM!

    Firefox 4 stops opening new windows after browser window dragged to second display. It's weird. Behavior is fine until I drag any browser window to the attached second display, and after this point it stops opening new windows but will still open new tabs in the same window. Restart fixes it until I drag the window back to the second display.
    "Show all bookmarks" stops working too--won't open a new window.
    This is after clean reinstall with total deletion of any Firefox/Mozilla folders and the previously installed app and a restart of the computer.

    Say if the developer does not override and implement mouse drag event, still when the frame is dragged, the frame gets repainted itself in the new position. It indicates some default implementation of mouse drag event, but am unable to find out where it has been implemented.
    Why bother when everything works fine? I have a requirement to move my non-modal dialog when the frame is being dragged to another location. I tried adding mousemotionlistener to the frame, to the panel inside a frame, but the event does not reach my custom implementation of mousedrag event.
    Any clues?

    Moving the frame is a different listener: ComponentListener; add one to the frame. The frame's window decorations are OS territory, so I'm not sure if there's system dependence. I seem to vaguely remember some systems sending an event only after done moving, while others send the event as the frame moves.

  • TS4080 apple thunderbolt display image on display intermittently goes dark, does not wake from sleep after clicking mouse or keyboard, but there is "bonk" sound after clicking mouse or pressing keys. Rebooting by pressing the power button resolves issue.

    My apple thunderbolt display (which I purchased 1.5 years ago; OS 10.7.5 Mac Mini) intermittently goes dark, does not wake from sleep after clicking mouse or keyboard, but there is "bonk" sound after clicking mouse or pressing keys, so am thinking it is a hardware problem with the display. Rebooting by pressing the power button turns the screen back on, but the same phenomenon has occurred several times. Could this be a software issue, or do I need to have my display repaired? Your feedback would be appreciated.

    Hi ED, tough to tell, but it does sound like it's waking with the bonk, just not displaying.
    Long shot but...
    I wonder if it's a variation of this, of which I've seen many different symptoms...
    Resolution
    Move the mouse or trackpad cursor over the center area of the login window so you can see the user icons. Click on the icon of the user that you would like to login as, type in the user's password, and press Return.
    If the login window is configured to show only the name and password fields, type in the user's name and password into the fields, and press Return (even if you cannot see the rest of the login window).
    Additional Information
    This issue will not occur if the display is not sleeping when the account is logged out. Use the steps below to confirm that the account is not configured to log out automatically while the display is sleeping:
        1.    Open System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General.  Click the padlock to unlock the preference pane and enter your admin password. Click the Advanced button at the bottom, then see if the option "Log out after N minutes of inactivity" (where N is the number of minutes) is enabled.
        2.    Open System Preferences > Energy Saver and configure Display Sleep to occur after the account is logged out, by dragging the slider to a number of minutes that is greater than N was set to in the previous step.
    Important: If automatic log out is not needed, disable "Log out after Nminutes of inactivity" in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General. This will also prevent the issue.
