Bug (minor): Cancel in create report wizard does not redirect correctly

All,
If I go to create from application home page:
1. Create page
2. Report, next
3. Wizard Report, next
4. Next
5. Next
6. Emp table, all cols
Hitting "cancel" from this page forward will yield inconsistent results. You may end up at any of the following:
1. Start of create page wizard
2. Page definition screen for page 1
3. Application home page (expected)

Website created in FrontPage does not display correctly in Safari

Using StoreFront software (PC based only), we have created a website that performs beautifully in Explorer and Netscape on a PC. For some reason, not all pages open properly on a MAC. It is the left column that does not open properly on the dynamically generated pages. Does Safari have a problem with style sheets?

Report refresh does not contain correct data

Hi all,
I'm having a problem with an interactive report. this report contains checkboxes for each row.
When clicking the submit button, a process is called which changes the status of the checked records.
This status change should cause the IR to not query these records anymore after the submit, but they still appear even though i did a commit after the proces.
When i refresh the page the correct records are removed from the report.
Is this normal because i thought the page processes are completed before branching is executed.

my mistake, i was doing a query with sysdate in the where clause, but when using systimestamp this problem was solved.

"Glass" Effect Lettering Created In Photoshop Does Not Appear Correctly.

I have made some "glass" effect transparent titles in Photoshop by putting a normal title over a transparent background, adding an inner glow and bevel and then reducing the Fill Opacity to zero.
This is how it should look:-
However, when I import it into FCE/FCP and superimpose it over video the title usually looks solid black - as it did originally before I reduced the Fill Opacity.
I have tried every combination of Composite mode I can find in FCE/FCP to no avail.
Is it possible to show it the way it is intended and if so, can anyone suggest where I am going wrong?

Start with a transparent background in photoshop. Compose your title document (yopu can put a reference layer at bottom of the stack to see how title will appears on your image clip- if so, pay attention to make this backgroud inactive upon exporting) and save in PNG format (this format save the alpha channel-transparency- with your graphic elements).
Import in FCE, and compose your title over your video clip.
Use normal composite mode.
You can also use Boris title or livetype to achieve the same result.

Webi does not pick correct Data

Hi Guys,
I have a webi. The Universe for the Webi is based on Bex Query. I see correct Data in Bex Query but when I create a webi report it does not pick correct data.
I have checked following points already:-
1] No Resstriction at Query Level
2] No restriction at Universe Level
3] No Filters/ Restriction at Webi Level.
Can anyone suggest whats happening?

Hi Ray,
It happens sometimes that data gets aggregated over all the dimension objects present in the 'Available Objects' section in webi.
Try to pull only the characteristics present in the row section of the bex query say 'X' and measure in the column section of bex query say 'Y' into the results pane in the edit query window in webi.Then run the report and check.
This will give you the idea about aggregation.

Yes you can...
When you create the button, don't set anything for the page / URL redirect. Then go to your pl/sql process definition and set it to fire "when button pressed..." Finally, just make sure you either have a branch set, as a default, redirecting back to your current page or create a branch specifically for "when button pressed..." as well. I usually create a default branch back to the current page for any page that can be submitted with a sequence of 999 (and no conditions) so that it is (usually) the last redirect that is evaluated. This will always save the error "No page to redirect to..." and also saves creating a bunch of unnecessary branches

Report help does not work

We have generated a headstart online helpfile belhelp.htm
All works fine when using online help with forms: the help text uses help context id and bookmarks in het htm file.
Altough help text for all reports is generated in belhelp.htm, following errors and restrictions occur:
1. URL = http:10.1.10.0:7778/hsd65-help//hsd65-help/belhelp.htm is wrong. It should be http:10.1.10.0:7778/hsd65-help/belhelp.htm. How can I resolve this issue?
2. report help does not use bookmarks. Although help context id's are generated in the module defined in design editor, the button 'report help' in the report launch form does not use the bookmark. When I add a bookmark manually it works, eg http:10.1.10.0:7778/hsd65-help/belhelp.htm#BM919000000

This is a known bug that was fixed in Headstart patch 6.5.2.1, available through the supplement option. There are also a small number of other bugs related to reports that are fixed in patch 6.5.2.2, also available through the supplement option.
If you do not already have the supplement option, you can purchase it through your Oracle Consulting representative or through the Oracle store.

The site reporter tool does not work

There is an item in Firefox Help where you can report a Web site that does not work. Originally, a report database was available on line and you could review existing submissions. The database access site was officially [http://blog.mozilla.com/website-archive/2010/12/08/mozilla-reporter/ retired] and the data gathered were expurgated and dumped for everybody to download. It is 1.3 GB uncompressed; install with { gzcat | mysql mozrep; } to avoid doubling the space.
The [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Menu%20Reference#w_report-broken-web-sitead site reporter tool] does not seem to work any more. It just submits the report forever. It seems that Mozilla has broken functionality in a supported browser, disregarding all users. The original reporter site redirects to a new feedback site. The problem with that site is that you have to install version 4 beta to use it, which is not nice at all. To add exploitation to disrespect, Mozilla tries to turn all customers into beta testers.

Sorry, but you need to give us more information. For starters, you *ARE* using Adobe Captivate, right? And what exactly are you trying to do where you are seeing the eyedropper isn't working? Can you post a screen capture or a small video recording of it? You can use Jing http://www.jingproject.com or maybe Screenr http://www.screenr.com.

Report Name does not come when converted to HTML format.

We are using Report Builder 10.1.2.3.0 to convert a .rep file to HTML. We need the HTML output file to feed to a reports to xls converter.
Problem is, the html output does not have the report name. Report name (and also date, time. user, page etc.) are in the margin section. For some reason, it wont print the report name in the html. It works fine when I run it in the builder.

Why is this??? The property palette for a label that is printing in all pages (like Date ) is the same as for the report name (GL EXTRACT DETAIL REPORT), BUT it does not appear in the HTML output???
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
PS: We use rwrun.exe with desformat=HTML.

Cos, we are trying to generate an MS Excel version of every report. For this, we use a tool called rep2excel, and it users as in input an HTML file. So, we have to generate the HTML from the rep and feed it to that.
So, since we have 200 odd reports, we will have to change all of them, that is why.

REPORTS folder does not appear when refreshing dynamic templates

Hi all,
I got one issue when refreshing dynamic templates. For one application, the REPORTS folder does not appear under Eexcel folder.
It works well on my quality environment, but it fails on production server.
It seems there is no differences in security settings, SP version...
I already tried deleting Outlooksoft folder, clear and refresh local folder in client options...
I must miss something but I dont know what to check anymore.
Any suggestion is welcome.

Hi Neil,
I do not have issue with what you mention, everything is ok in Webfolder.
The problem is in the local folder of every user in My Documents folder.
There is a folder Outlooksoft there that is refreshed automatically after connecting to BPC.
Every reports under REPORTS\WIZARDS should be there. Users need to access this folder to open a specific report.
What is strange is that it looks that it works for some users, but does not work for some other users...
Might be security settings?

I am trying to run a report from visul basic screen, but it does not run correctly. Here is how I am running the report. There is a screen developed in VB This screen prompts the user for user id and password. Once it gets that, it connects to the oracle database and pulls out a column from a table. And passes that value as a parameter to the report. Now I am calling the the report for each individual value . There are 21 value being pulled out of the database and it invokes the report 21 times. So there are 21 report engines gets started. Is there a better way to do that ? Secondly when I pass the parameter , some parameters does not pass correctly I guess , because its not generating any out put . Like out of 21 may be 10 or 11 reports gets generated correctly but rest of the reports are blank. I debug the screen i saw that the parameter value is correct, everything seems good. But still the reports are comming blank. Any Idea why it is so ? The command line that i am using in VB screen is

In the above command " adoRecBrand!Brand " is the parameter thats being passed. This is actually a recordset and brand is the column in it. When I debug the screen , I see the value also there. But the report comes out blank. Please help. This is urgent.

The way you call reports is not scalable. If you have 100 records come back from database, you would end up launch 100 engines at the same times, which probably will blow up your machine. You should use oracle reports server to do that. You can either use rwcli60 to submit the job to reports server, or invoke rwcgi60 from URL.
I am afraid some of reports engine failed to start and you get nothing back in your case.
After switch to use reports server achitecture, if you still see some report is blank in your application, then you can run that report with that special set of parameters manually and see if any problem with the report itself.

I am trying some new feature that are introduced in SQL Server 2008 R2 version. While I try to use "Map" control within it, it threw the following error:-
"Error 1 The map, Map1, was removed from the report. SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services does not support map report items. "

I think you get this error message when you are deploying a report to report server using BIDS, correct? If not, please provide more details on your scenario :-)
If I guessed correctly, then this message is a result of trying to deploy a map report (a SSRS 2008 R2 feature) to a non-R2 2008 report server. When deploying a report of RDL2010 format to a non-R2 report server, BIDS will downgrade the file to RDL2008 format, so that the non-R2 report server can process it. Any report elements using features not supported in RDL2008 will be dropped during this downgrade process.
BIDS gets the server version from a report project property called TargetServerVersion:

If your report server is indeed the 2008 R2 version, then the TargetServerVersion property should be set to "SQL Server 2008 R2 Reporting Services." The project property page also has a "Auto Detect..." option if you are uncertain about the version of your report server.

Step 3 in payment wizard does not populate any BP's?

Hi all-
We have a customer that is trying to run the payment wizard for outgoing payments. In Step 3 the payment wizard does not populate any BP's? We think we have all of the settings correct. Is there anything 'not obvious' that might prevent the vendors from populating on this step 3 (we choose all vendor groups and vendors DO have balances).
Any ideas as to where to look or what to check would be greatly appreciated.

the most common reason for this is that no payment run defaults were selected. As for the definitions necessary, please have a look at note 725786 - Definitions necessary for the payment wizard.

Adobe form created in LiveCycle does not remember user input

Adobe form created in LiveCycle does not remember user input when the file has been re-opened after it has been saved.
Example:
"Check box" that has been selected and who have registered Action script (may be that it should be disabled), seems to be reset when the file is re-opened, although it apparently is checked.
Are there settings or script that can prevent this?

usually if the values are not kept in form after saving and re-opening the form, it would be because of your code... or because it is not Reader Extended PDF...
If your code has a function which is to return a value to your field without it to be working based on your Design, it will reset any data..(variables)
Which means...
e.g.: You have an array/var/JSONobject which you populate varying on the data entered in the design, as long as you are in the actual form, without closing and re-opening the form, it will keep all values inside that array / variables / JSONobject. But, once the form closed and re-opened, if you have a function that returns a value to your field, whatever the field, from any variable in the script it will return nothing because every variables are reset. To avoid such a thing, you must repopulate all variables that were assigned previously before closing the PDF Form. To do so, I recommend to have a page(hidden) which contains every important values according to that function and you must repopulate those variables according to the values in the keepVar page...
If you do not have any function that returns a value to a field based on your variables, this is not the solution you are looking for and I am not aware of the reason why it behaves like this... Maybe more information on the behaviour of your form would help locate the issue...
