Bug on E63 ActiveNote ???

After this has happened again and again, I am sure I did not push a wrong button. I write long note by using ActiveNote on E63. Several times, I use the copy and paste (Ctrl-c and Ctrl-v). It is very often, after I use Ctrl-v, ActiveNote just exits without saving; all the things I have edited (after the last saving) are ignored / lost. Has any user been suffered by this ActiveNote's behaviour? Thank you.

SOLUTION for me (October, 29):
After all you can guess I did, I solved my problem:
1. Go to Finder/Preferences panel
Uncheck everything and restart.
2. Go to Finder/Preferences panel and check what you want.
If any item does not appear on the Left Panel you would like, pass the mouse over the item and check SHOW.
This problem occurs since Lion and now Mountain Lion with no solution.

  • E63 SD card slot

    Hi all,
I bought an E63 at the end of May.
During the first month all was going fine, but now I've been having problems with the SD card slot for 1 month.
Every 2 days what I have in my external card disappears and I have to download my data again. I've lost pictures and other nice things I had.
    1) Is anyone experiencing the same problem?
    2) Is it possible that the card slot tend to lose the wire contact to the card every now and then?
    3) In case 2) is true, does it makes sense that E63 resets and formats the SD Card when it happens? I mean:
when the SD card gets lost for a while due to a bad electrical contact and then goes back to life when the contact is restored, does it makes sense that E63 re-formats the SD card? That seems what's happening to me every 2 days lately.
    4) In case there's no electrical issue involved, is it possible that some virus or bug is doing that?
    thank you, Paolo

Format your card in the E63, not on your pc. When you remove the card, use the proper dialog. Dont just pull it out.
If this problem continues, you have a hardware problem and go back to the shop.
First of all thanks for answering.
As for the SD formatting I've noticed that when I found the telephone had removed my files it also had re-formatted the SD card. At least there were no more files inside the SD folders and the folders were the usual ones of E63.
As for the SD card removing procedure, is there any step I've to take before removing the card? I haven't found any hint of it.
In any case I'm afraid I have some hardware problem: these morning the only 3 personal files (audio files) I had in my sd card were suddenly removed without any reason.
Before of that I had tried to copy one of those audio file from the SD card to the phone memory and at the end the phone-memory copy was not working (I played it and it kept repeating the same first 2 words).
What I have to understand is: these fact the files are repeatedly removed from the SD can be blamed on to the SD card itself in case it's corrupted?
I mean:the phone feels the SD card is corrupted and keeps trying to restore it by formatting it? Is it possible?
Is it worth I buy another SD card and test the phone with the new one? Take into consideration I don't need another SD card and that my PC can easily read it.
Or is it possible the card is good but the electrical contacts are not so that the phone can't read correctly the card, "thinks" it is corrupted and re-format it?
    thank you again

  • E72: Low free RAM is a HUGE HUGE HUGE BUG!

    HI 2 everybody.
I bought an E72 some days ago, and I really suprised about the product quality.  Of course, in this case "quality" means some things very good, and some things VERY bad.  But the problem is, in this case, bad things.
WHY IN THE HELL E72 HAS SO LOW FREE RAM?
It's incredible, I remember N95-1.  The main difference is N95-1 had 64MB, E72 doubles that! I cannot believe that after booting up, the phone left only 28MB out of 128!  I cannot load 2 big programs simultaneously, because the OS crash at any moment because of low free memory.  I never had this problem with my "oldie but goodie" E71. And I'm surprised that, after 2 firmware revisions, Nokia doesn't solve the problem!  Why??? It's so difficult to unload many unused processes?  Is so difficult to activate some type of virtual memory? AFAIK, N95-1had virtual memory. And, by the way: why E71 doesn't come with 192 or 256MB RAM???
Now, knowing the fact that Nokia doesn't want to solve this issue, well... Anyone has trying or tried to solve that?  Any Symbian expert? Perhaps killing unused or annoying processes?
    Thanks a lot.
    Nokia: IT'S A SHAME!

To the OP, its not a bug, but a total failure of the development process. Its quite pathetic that even the E63 has 70MB free after startup while the E72 has only 40MB.
As soon as you load any WWW page the thing flunks.
So apart from using it as a tether device to my laptop the E72 is a failure as any sort of net enabled phone ... compared to my E63 (and yes I have both) its speed only helps you to hit dead ends faster

  • E63 many problems

first of all, these are for my 0568868 so your e63 might not have these issues.
pressing the spacebar to enter a space makes the phone freeze for a second.
'Ctrl' button misbehaves. ctrl+left/right works but upon release ctrl is still active.
key combinationsperform two functions simultaneously. ctrl+shift+left selects the last word and enables predictive text, at the same time.
there is no undo function, but there are the rest of the standard editing functions (for example, select all with ctrl+a) which means that if by a mistake you delete a message you have to type it all again. There seems to be something like an undo function but it doesn't always work.
browser can't open a new window at the user's request.
can't enter non-english characters in the address bar of the browser
there is a lot of hiss when listening to music at any volume.
music player stops playback if attempt at seeking is made after adjusting the volume. Change the volume up or down, then keep right pressed to seek = stops song
browser is problematic with a second window open. even with a menu open the browser gets confused. If the page changes while a menu is being displayed, the menu loses focus and even though it is displayed the next keypress is sent to the page.
pressing the enter key when entering a url in the address bar, instead of going to the entered address, activates whatever link happens to be under the cursor at that moment. if there isn't a link, it goes to the entered address.
    can't save any file.
navigation button after a single month of usage loses the paint. i guess it is shiny only to attract potential customers. build quality is ridiculous.
i'd list more, but i am not in any way optimistic they will fix not even half of these problems. i'd be happy if they fixed the freezing spacebar.
i won't say 'software upgrade' because first of all it's a misnomer. it is not an upgrade, nothing is 'upgraded' when we are simply expecting the faults to be fixed. it is a service pack. a fix.
in any case, nokia informed me in an email that the latest version for my e63 is 100.21.110, which is wrong. The 'can i upgrade' site insists that that is the latest version, too. The latest version is 110.21.006, which i got installed at a nokia shop.
Anyway, the software fix fixed nothing. In fact, i haven't yet seen a single change from the previous version... except the version number shown when entering *#0000#, of course.
Also, i expect a nokia representative to reply to this, not another user. I've paid nokia for the phone, it is sensible to expect nokia itself to reply to a customer's complaints.

    tsiros wrote:
about the spacebar... you can press it repeatedly to show someone what the bug is, exactly.
however, it is annoying when you write a message and you are typing quickly... and you got a phone with a qwerty *because* it allows you to type quickly, compared with a t9 "keyboard". want to see another indication that the software our e63 runs, is brought over from phones with t9?
press the enter key very fast. at some point, you will catch a glimpse of the 'return' character appearing on screen...  and then dissappearing remember how that character used to appear when you wanted to put a newline in a phone with t9? that's where it's from
so to save time, this newer software renders on screen something because of old code... and since it wastes time making it appear, wastes some more to delete it
about the amplifier, i do not remember where exactly, but if you check out what i wrote in other threads, the explanation you give is the explanation i gave, almost the same
I tried doing the return key thing, and all I got was 100+ empty lines with no return symbol (probably missed it or I'm not fast enough, lol). I would believe this to be the case, since all the S60 phones do share very similiar firmware, so they probably don't change it between QWERTY and non-QWERTY phones.
And the reasoning behind the amplifier probablem makes sense, since my stereo makes the exact same hissing noise if I turn it up (with no music obviously, since I like being able to hear). Since its just amplifying....nothing. Not so much a problem with the phone itself but how they programmed the volume controls. Sort of sloppy choice Nokia, for a higher end business phone.

  • E63 Lock Code Problem After Update

I recently checked for a firmware update for my E63. I got excited when i found out that there was an availabla one, the 510 .21 .010 and I immediately started the update process. Everything went ok but when i switched On the phone  it asked me for the lock code after 3 or 4 seconds. I tried the default one , 12345 but it showed a code error message. I can't do excatly nothing but the weird thing is that buttons Calendar,Contacts and Mailbox work but i still can't do nothing else. The Home button does not work. It doesn't seem a normal behaviour.Could it be a bug? I read a lot of posts about this problem so this means I'm not the only one having this problem. Please help me. I really need my E63 back as it is my do-everything tool. Maybe a new firmware with this bug fixed would be best.
    Thank You in advance

    Hi bmadan123cool,
    Welcome to the Nokia forum!
A software update should fix this issue straight away.
Make sure you make a back up with Nokia Suite first and don't tick the Settings box as this will backup the bug that's causing this. Once you've made the backup, click on the green arrow in Nokia Suite and update or reinstall the current software.
After you've done the above, place the backup back onto your phone and then it should work perfectly.
If the above hasn't worked, take a another backup and enter *#7370# into your phone and default security code 12345, unless you've changed this code yourself. Place the backup back and then this should definitely fix the issue.
Let me know how you get on!

  • E63 keeps asking lock code - cannot disable

    Hi,
After installing, using and uninstalling the mail exchange application my e63 keeps asking the lock code. The mail application somehow demanded to use the lock code. Now I have checked the settings many times and I cannot disable it - I cannot disable or set the autolock period above 10 mins -> "unable to unlock phone".
Even restored factory settings but no go. Entering lock code every time I need my phone is annoying.
    Any solutions?

Finally, I simple delete my Exchange mail box (also did a refresh of the services but don't know if it was mandatory). And my Lock Code parameters switchs itself automatically to my settings (No lock code) .
So, the Encrypt-Decrypt solution was not necessary for me. Too bad for Microsoft : I will never use Exchange util they fix this MAJOR bug because it's too annoying for me to have a lock on my phone every hour...

  • E63 Bluetooth Handset Problem

Friends I just purchased Nokia E63 Handset. At first sight I was in love with this phone and it worked fine for around 3-4 days. After 3-4 days suddenly 100% battery drained and the handset switched off (thanks god at Night). This might be due to multipule problems hence right now I am not too much worried about this.
But more surprisengly My bluetooth handset started giving problems. It connects and disconnects auto and keeps doing that after every 10sec or so. Moreover Voice over Bluetooth is not clear. As far as Bluetooth is concern it is working fine with CDMA 6265. My Bluetooth Handset is : BH-200
I am a simple user I just need a Phone with good bluetooth handset and as simple as Nokia Though, I know E63 is not for me but still I liked it (look wise). Can someone please help how to overcome of this bluetooth problem. As I can not survive without it and I have to go for new handset if it does not work fine.

What a surprise, I see the same issues too. I have a car kit that works well including handover to and from phones by SE, Palm, LG but the nokia E63 causes all manner of resets until call is in progress...
Is this a firware bug or a limitation of Nokia's implementation (like it's inability to recieve a whole phonebook via Bluetooth when all my other handsets have done it without protest)?

I think I have hit on the solution (rather a workaround). The problem is likely to occur if you have too many mp3s on your memory card. I had almost 12GB of mp3s on my memory card. When I choose to change the rigtone I used to get only 2 options ... Download or OFF.
Solution: Remove the memory card and try again. It should work ... worked for me.
Looks like the system has a pre-defined time duration to populate the list failing which nothing is listed. Given the number of mp3s I had the list was too big and the timeout probably kicked in. Bug in the software. Pity it manifests in the wierd way ... It could have at least shown the default tones and failed to update the list from the card.

  • E63 + Nokia EMail Service = WiFi is instantly On

Hi, I installed Nokia EMail Service at my E63 phone. I'm using WiFi to connect to mail server. I expect the following behavior: each 5 minutes (as defined in Settings) this Service should activate WiFi connection, connect to server, get new mail (if any), disconnect from server and (!) deactivate WiFi connection. However, I see that WiFi icon is shown on my main screen instantly - so the WiFi connection is always On and the phone is consuming the battery heavily. What should I do to prevent this situation?

http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1380309 suggests that if you lengthen the connection period dramatically, the WiFi will connect and disconnect as you expected.  If this is true, short of there being an obscure setting in your Nokia Email client or phone Settings that does not appear on mine, this does appear to be a firmware bug.  Or maybe another user has a suggestion?

  • E71 : Tutorial bug

Just started investigating new E71, and seems there is a bug in the Tutorial app. (Menu>Help>Tutorial) : Several topics cause the app. to end (crash) without showing info. e.g. Keys>Power key. Perhaps there are missing topics, because I also notice that where one of these "crash" topics appears in the middle of a list, lower topics actually launch the topic above them in the list e.g. anything below Calling>Dialled numbers.
Am I the only one suffering this? Seems relatively trivial, but then does not inspire confidence : if a simple app. like Tutorial is bad, what chance complex stuff being good?

I noticed that too. On my E63 tough, it works fine. These tuts are a bit silly. The manual is better documented and even then there are settings I can't find. The connections and buttons on the side are not described in the Dutch version.

  • E63 owner ponders E72

I have an E63 which I've been using for a few months now and quite like. I have been wondering if an E72 may be a worthy upgrade or if there would be little point.
Predominately I'm thinking that since I've been making good use use of the E63 maps (bought a BT GPS) but they need registration yearly (only a few bucks) that navigatoin on the E72 would be nicer (and I won't need to remember the GPS, but won't hurt if I have it.
I have heard that the E72 does not support sattelite information as my E51 did and the E63 does.
I'm thinking that the higher data speeds and CPU on the E72 may also make skype via 3G nicer too. Does anyone here know?
Naturally I've compared the specs on gsm arena and looked at a few reivews. So just wondering if anyone here has any opinions they'd be willing to share.
Sadly after reading around it starts to look to me that the E63 is about the best cost/benefit phone and that the E72 has some significant bugs in it.
    thoughts welcome
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi
ok, well 3 days ago I took delivery of an E72 (type 1) which I thought would solve this question.
Here are som initial thoughts in no particular order:
did any of the reviewers ever have their hands on both devices (as they claim to have done)? If yes then they are often not very observant.
the predictive text on the E72 can not hold a candle to that of the E63. The E63 outshines it so much as to be truly a shame on the developers of the E72. The omission of capitalisation of i on the E72 let alone inclusion of ' in didn't is pathetic. Step backwards on that one
Data rates on 3G are stunning on the E72, as expected by specification.
Skype runs well on the 3G network, but I am as yet unable to find a version of skype which allows the front facing camera to be used. Thus the front facing camera is a bit of a "hip pocket on at T-Shirt"
Screen on E72 has much nicer colour range, and seems to be slightly better outside in the light of the sun
Optical navi key is pretty much what you read (and no I didn't like it much but thought it had potential). I thought this quote summed it up neatly
"I felt as if a swipe of the Optical Navi Key should trigger kinetic scrolling, a capability not built into the E72's operating system. The wish for kinetics makes sense when you consider that the Optical Navi Key is not effective for scrolling, unlike a continual press on the d-pad."
Keyboard is actually a weeny bit smaller than the E63, it is noticable when you've spent time on the E63
Unable to zoom in and look around the better images from the camera on the E72. Strange as the gallery on the E63 did this nicely with keyboard shortcuts too.
Maps do not navigate any better than those on the E63, and it seems (anyone have a fix?) the accellerometer does nothing in maps. Meaning that maps on the E63 with a Bluetooth GPS are just as effective. Time taken to get a sattelite lock is often longer than the drive there (read 45 minutes) while my E63 using the BT GPS just gets the lock in 5 or 10 min. Yawn
Perhaps version 3 maps is nicer for searching.
Message creation has less options when creating "new message" perhaps this is to help dummies, but I actually learned from the E63's menu that I could create and send an audio message with less difficulty than an MMS with an attached audio.
I do not know why in New Message on the E72 I do not get Create: MMS, only Message and Audio Message. This prevents me from attaching a subject to the MMS and thus using it more like an email to a phone via phone system. Poor oversight if you ask me
The E63 seems to automatically engage the recorder and save the audio file in the right 'codec'  when activated from MMS
The mail app is nice enough and I do like the "look" of that mail client better than that of my E63's .. reminds me a lot of the E51 I had. Personally I use my mail as IMAP and do not really "keep" it on the phone for long. I then deal with it more long term on Thunderbird or on the corporate mail. Thus the clearing of the inbox (on the phone once mail is read on the main client) is to me a good thing.
configuration of browser keys is nice on the E72
hands free speaker is whimpy, even on flat surface or upside down. E63 wins hands down there.
Do not like the inversion of the physical feel of the one-touch keys. Prefer the top and bottom rows to be pronated and the one touch keys down.
WHY CAN'T THEY PUT RED AND GREEN COLOUR ON THE CALL AND HANG UP ... I will be using a texta on this from the underside asap
Just like the E51 I love the "breathing" light.
Don't care much for the side buttons for volume. If you happen to be left handed they don't work well. D ring works which is good.
Love that I can move icons around in their groups, that can't be done on my E63. It helps me to arrange things into an order that the apps which are not on my home screen can be found fast
Love the E72's scanner, works fine for most business cards. If you know diddley squat about how OCR works it is just a great system. If you don't know anything and its all "white mans magic" then you'll be frustrated and probably have problems.
Discovered that camera AF can be achieved without the optical navi by pressing and holding the main button till AF is acquired,  then releasing the button to take the picture. handy.
Torch on the E72 is a legend .. much wider in spread and brighter.

  • E63 Mail for Exchange problem

I've tried to load Mail for Exchange from Ovi on my E63, but get the message 'installation failed' each time I try. I've searched on here and notice that others seem to have the same problem. Anyone able to help?
    Thanks

did you go back to factory settings, install MFE 3.0 en start from scratch?? that usually wil solve the problem.
think about making a back up first.
If you reinstall but the bug is still in the phone, the problem remains. thats why it is best to make a clean phone and go from there
