Bug on Google search shortcut on navigation bar

Hi,
There is a bug on that shortcut. When you Slide up from multitasking button(I don't know how it is called) it doesn't show the Google logo on screen and it opens current tasks window and Google search both.
It works for other navigation bar buttons well.

Its supposed to work from the center bottom, in other words the home key not other location

  • Is there a way to have a GOOGLE search type box or bar in mavericks?

Brand new to mac here.  I enjoy using Safafri, but I would ideally like to have a google type search box and/or bar.  Is this possible?  Thanks.

I'm still not sure what you are asking for, but as said, if inside Safari just type anything you want Google to search for into the URL area. If you are looking for a way to do web searches when not in Safari then just hold down the Command key and hit the space bar. That will bring up Spotlight which can search both your computer and can also do web searches. You can change the order of the display so web searches show up first if you want. If you aren't familiar with Spotlight, it is a very fast way to open applications on your Mac and to find and open documents based on searches of both file names and contents.

I can't see what I am typing in the google search bar because of a blue color obstructing the letters. This happens on the second and subsequest searches

  • I cannot remove the mp3tube toolbar search from the navigation bar

I have a toolbar mp3tube that has taken over my searches. It seems to be part of yahoo but I have deleted all and it still comes back. It is making it impossible to use firefox for browsing.

(I posted this elsewhere, but I'm sure nobody minds if I spread the answer around!)
I found the easiest way to fix this! Okay...I first tried going into my Add-On settings, and the only thing it would allow me to do is Disable the toolbar. Not good for me, because the stupid Yahoo! search bar for Mp3Tube was still stuck at the top where my Google one used to be.
Here's how you get rid of it off your computer, even if it sticks around after an uninstall:
1.Open My Computer. 2. At the top-right of the My Computer window, click the Search bar that says 'Search Computer'. 3. Type in 'Mp3Tube' and after a minute it should find a few files and folders (for me there were 5 results). 4. Select them all and press Delete on your keyboard (Right-click > Delete doesn't work, it doesn't show up like normal.) 5. Empty your Recycle Bin and rejoice. :)
This takes out all the files from Firefox and even from your Registry, so it should NEVER bother you again, unless someone stupid uses your computer (like in my case!)

  • Two finger swipe replaces google search string

MBP with Safari 6.0 experiencing this problem.  Another user was experiencing the issue here:

I don't know where the bug reports are to follow up on it and I haven't seen any patches for it.  Any advice?  Specifically, I'd like to know how to file the bug (in case I find another) and to follow up on any existing issues.
    TIA,
    Scott

Is there no place to track the status of the report or see any other outstanding issues so I don't bother filing duplicates?
Never heard of such a function here. This method gets feedback to the people who count but it is completely behind the scenes. Part of Apple's "cards close to the chest" method of doing pretty much everything. You should have been looking at the "don't expect a response" screen after you hit the submit button on your bug report.
If there is something that needs clarification, I suspect they will use e-mail to ask for it, but don't stay home waiting!

  • Google Search Stuck in Spanish

I'm having a problem with my iPhone. Whenever I use the google search shortcut in the top right of safari, it does the google search but the page is in Spanish. Previously I had my phone set to Spanish to practice learning/etc, but now I have it back to English (although I still have both english/spanish keyboards installed). I have gone through the settings/preferences on the google website, and I've chosen my language as English, but it still has the problem.
    Thanks for your help

Alright so I tried just restarting it, but that didn't seem to fix it. I mean I've had this problem for quite some time, so I wasn't expecting the reset to do it. I don't know how I fixed it exactly, but I basically turned off every setting that could possibly be Spanish - the keyboard, the regional date format, and the phone language. After that, I restarted, and having just checked right now, the search is now in English
Hope this helps anyone with this problem.

  • I used to have a google search window in my navigation bar. Some download installed Yahoo to my dismay and I can't find where to uninstall it and reinstall Google.

I downloaded PDF creator from Sourceforge.net. Apparently I agreed to have my navigation bar searcher become Yahoo, replacing Google.

Thanks for getting back to me. As soon as I posted this question I noticed the "down arrow" next to the Yahoo icon in the search window. Lo and behold, clicking on it reveals choices, such as: Google, Yahoo, Amazon, Answers, ...Wikipedia etc. One can change searchers that easily.

  • What is the shortcut to delete search history in the Google search bar?

I did a google search for this question before, and VIOLA!
However, I have forgotten the simple procedure.
There was a way to highlight all the search history in the Google search bar (Large one in center of page)
Then press ???control and another key? I forget...please help.
Thanks for any and all help.
I much enjoy Firefox over Explorer, which was kicking my offline continually!

  • Why do google search results reset to match the search bar terms when i use the back button?

Since the update to FF 23, the list of Google search results clears and the on-page search box is reset to match the address bar search box when I hit the back button to re-view the results list after checking a result.
To see this issue for yourself, set your search provider to Google and make sure Instant is on. Type a search term into the search bar and press enter. A google page appears with your results list. Now, change your search terms or conduct a new search directly from the google page (without using the FF search bar). Click on the first result in the search list, then click the back button to return to the search results so you can check a differest result. As FF goes back to the google page, it will reset the on-page search box to match the FF search bar (although you were no longer on this search) and all search results will disappear, replaced by the message "Press enter to search". Pressing enter reconducts your old search, not the one you were on.
This is incredibly maddening since searching for something requires frequent use of the back button to check through the list of search results, and then frequently trying the search again with slightly different terms. Although it sounds like a Google issue, it did not occur on the old firefox and has me wanting to revert. I tried to revert to the old search function via the "keyword search" addon, but this did not fix my issue. Is there a way to force FF to go back to the actual google search page I was just on instead of conducting a new google search from the FF search box when I hit the back button?

In Firefox 23 versions and later the keyword.URL pref is no longer supported and it is no longer possible to specify the search engine for the location bar via the keyword.URL pref.<br />
The search engine that is used on the location bar and on the about:home page is the search engine that is selected in the search Bar on the Navigation Toolbar.<br />
Current Firefox versions do not update the about:home home page until you refresh the page (future versions will do this automatically without a refresh) and that is what happens if you use the Back key.
You can install the Keyword Search extension to specify with search engine to use for the location bar and which search engine to use for the about:home page via the Options/Preferences windows of this extension, accessible via the about:addons page.

  • How to type a URL if Google search bar removed for privacy

Because it appears that in Safari it is impossible to remove the Google Search Bar that's off to the right at the top without also removing the now connected URL Location bar to its left, I removed both. I had noticed that when I did this in Camino, I could still go to a web page by clicking Command L for Open Location (found in the File dropdown menu of most browsers).
But in Safari just now, when I remove the Google search bar that Apple has hard coded to be inseparable from the Location bar to its left, I find I cannot use the File / Open Location command (which I mentioned is Command key - L) and therefore -- is my browser useless if I do not want to document my travels on the world wide web with Google's databases by having the Search Bar up?
In other words is it not possible to enter a URL into Safari in a blank and open the URL Location if you remove the Google Search Bar?
Is the only way to get to a webpage after removing that item to use one's old bookmarks to get to a page?
Or is this a bug and is my "Command key - L" (Open Location command) supposed to be working? I also started to test this with Firefox but it appears my Firefox browser does not have this problem so my Open Location bar remains even if I remove a search bar and the removable search bar it does have is not tied to google in particular, I don't think, in Firefox even if I remove the search bar though I never use a search bar anyway because I don't care to go to any search engine unless I type their URL into my Location bar personally. That's just my preference because I don't trust having third party search bars forced into the browser design.
Is this really true as it appears that there's no way to open a Location in Safari without having the annoying Search Bar up? Is Open Location disabled without the Google Search bar?
If so, it looks like that, of my several browsers, the only one that won't allow me to Open Location (go to a webpage that I type into a Location bar) if I remove the Google Search bar is Safari. I am finding I can successfully extricate myself from Google search if I use Opera, Camino, and Firefox and select Remove after right clicking on the search bar.
Why would the industry be trying to force this Google data mining and surf habits info collection on people? Evidently because Apple would rather take the money from google for forcing google into our browser than protect its customers privacy? I hope this disease does not spread to the other browsers left for me to use. What a monopoly google is building. Too bad antitrust litigation is dead.
(If this is true, this is depressing to me because I had set Safari to be my primary browser. But it seems the least secure browser anyway (compared to using NoScript with Firefox) so I guess I'll have to avoid using it (except on those few pages that won't work without it) until Apple starts taking people's privacy a little more seriously instead of sneaking in more and more features that force us into an unholy logging relationship with Big Brother Google. And I'm disappointed in this development also because I used to like Google before I realized its lawyers were so dedicated to writing privacy policies that are as vague as possible and as unprotective of privacy as possible. I would like to use Google more if they would just stop taking 100 miles when a person gives an inch by using their search engine. I get nervous any time I have to use anything connected with them as things stand and I really wish that would improve and that google will improve its privacy policies rather than finding new ways to log every movement a person makes on the Web.)

The question posed in this thread was:
How do I type a URL such as "www.apple.com" etc. into a blank in SAFARI to go to the URL if I remove the Google search bar?
I cannot seem to get Open Location (Command - L) to function if I remove the Google search bar. Removing the Google Search Bar seems to also remove the location bar to type into. This is not the case in Opera, Camino, or Firefox, so I am wondering if my Safari is just corrupted. If the only way to have the option of Open Location (Command L) is to put the Google Search bar back in, which means the two are connected, does that mean that Google is able to record all url's typed in the Location bar even if you don't use the Search bar? I believe the story used to be that any time you type a url into a google search engine, google records your IP and search; so I'm wondering if Apple has now set up the Location bar in Safari in a deal with Google to let Google track every URL you type into the location bar if it is the case that the Location bar is inseparable from Google Search.

  • The little google search bar thats usually on the right side of my window is now gone after updating. how do i get it back?

i just updated my software and when i re-opened safari, the little google search bar thats usually on the right hand side of the window is now gone. how do i get it back?

Sorry. That is Safari 6's "new look".

  • Google Search text prediction in URL Bar

    Hello,
Is it possible to enable Google Search text prediction during typing words in URL Bar?
Now I need to hit ENTER in URL Bar if I want to search some word or use very useless Search Bar :-(
Any other browser like Chrome, Safari, Opera has one bar for anything (URL and SEARCH) with text prediction as well.

You probably are getting Google search suggestions in the 3 search bars (on the navigation toolbar, built-in home page, and built-in new tab page). If not, you can turn on search suggestions using one of these 3 methods:
    * right-click the Search Bar (the one on the main navigation toolbar) > Show Suggestions
    * click the magnifying glass icon on the Search Bar > Change Search Settings, then check the box for Provide search suggestions
    * click the magnifying glass icon for the search box on the built-in home page or new tab page > Manage Search Engines, then check the box for Provide search suggestions
Those do not appear in the address bar yet. For now, you might want to check out this extension:
    https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/omnibar/

  • When i select and try to load a page from the google search bar firefox freezes - firefox 4 win 7 bullguard antivirus.

When I search for something in the google search bar, the search completes but if I select a result firefox freezes and will not load the page. Pages load ok from bookmarks.

Were you typing in the search box on the Navigation Toolbar, or in the search box on a Google page?
Did the entire browser turn upside down, or just the page content?
Because you posted from IE10, the forum didn't capture any information about your plugins or extensions. Rather than compile a list, you might just try Firefox's Safe Mode, a standard diagnostic tool to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings). More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset)
    Can you replicate the problem?
Safe mode does not automatically disable plugins. If you want to rule those out as well, you can disable them here:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Plugins category
    Any difference?
