    You are not speaking to Apple here. So none of us can "fix it."
    TRy try quitting the Photos app followed by a reset of the ipad. To quit an app double click the Home button to reveal the row of recently used apps. Flick up on the page preview and it will fly away and disappear. That quits the app. Then Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the button and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot.

  • IPhone 5 two bugs in photo app.

    Sorry, don't know where to submit bug reports... hope this place is okay.
    Bug #1 - photos are not properly fit to screen.  To see this, take a screenshot of the home screen, or, say, of your favorite video game on the iPhone 5.  Now, look at that photo in the photo app, and double-tap it as needed to "fit" that photo to the screen.  You'll notice black space at the bottom of the photo, and the top part of the photo is off-screen.  So, if you took a screenshot of the home screen, the "menu bar" (or whatever it's called) will be off-screen.
    Bug #2 - the "cancel" button that comes up in the delete menu doesn't work.  Try to delete a photo, then hit the cancel button.  You'll see the button is only barely functional - only the top sliver of the cancel button seems to accept input.

    #1 was in reference to screenshots, not camera photos.  Screenshots should obviously be the same aspect ratio as the screen.  In any event, fitting a photo to screen (even if it has a different aspect ratio) should not cause part of the photo to go off-screen.  I'm not talking about "letterboxing" here... the black space in question is ONLY on the bottom of the photo, not the top - the top part instead goes off-screen.  That is definitely a bug, and I have verfied that I don't get that bug in on my old iPhone4 (updated to iOS6.)  I don't have a 4S so I can't test it on that.
    I have also verfied that bug #2 does not happen on my iPhone4.

  • Location Error in New Photos App IOS 10.10.3

    After getting the IOS update for my Macbook Pro, the photos taken the day of and after show up in the new Photos App as having been taken in China. How do I correct the location for these images? All over images prior to this update have the correct location information.

    I have no idea, I just connected my phone and this is how they are importing. I haven't opened them in other applications.

  • Edit Photos with Photos App iOS 5.0.1

    Hi,
    I modified some pictures with the integrated iOS 5.0.1 Photos App with my iPad 2 and saved the changes.
    If I show the picture on the iPad 2 I see the changes, but if I send it per Email or copy the file to my computer (with Sync-Cable) I have only the original version of the picture and not the modified version.
    How can I get the modified picture?
    Many thanks

    No idea?

  • Photos App iOS 7????

    How do you get the top and bottom menus to go away in photo app. I take a lot of pictures in landscape mode an when I go to photos and view them they are covered on top and bottoms by the menus. Before iOS7 you could tap the screen to bring up the menus or make them go away. now they just come up and cannot be hinden. Am I mising something or did Apple screw this up? (iPhone 5) 32gb.

    Maybe this screenshot will help.  This is what I'm talking about.

  • Minor bug in photo app since 5.1

    as said just a minor issue ... not sure if that's wanted in 5.1 : okay in 5.0/5.0.1 adding photos to an existing album showed, while being processed (so very shortly) the number of photos just added on the corresponding album entry in the list. This doesn't happen anymore. The entry, while photos are being added shows the old count (the new count will still appear correctly once you're back in album list view).
    ps: on a side note here, it seems that now you can sucessively add (so just label in fact) a same photo to multiple albums - not sure but I don't think this was possible in 5.0.1

    RMISocketFactory socketFactory = RMISocketFactory.getDefaultSocketFactory();
    socketFactory.createServerSocket(rmiObjectsPort);Remove the above code. It is unnecessary and evidently harmful. RMI socket factories are for use by RMI, not application code.// Export jOTDBconnection
    jOTDBconnAdaptee = new jOTDBconnection(args[0], args[1], args[2]);
    jOTDBconnAdapter = new jOTDBadapter(jOTDBconnAdaptee);
    //A custom port was specified, export the
    object using the port specified
    if(objectPort!=0){
    OTDBconnAdapter.unexportObject(jOTDBconnAdapter,true);
    logger.info("jOTDBconnection unexported");
    logger.info("Exporting jOTDBadapter:");
    OTDBconnAdapter.exportObject(jOTDBconnAdapter,objectPort);
    logger.info("jOTDBadapter exported");This is truly bizarre. The remote object is exported, then unexported again, then exported on the correct port. Why not provide the desired port number to the constructor of the object and have it export itself on the correct port in the first place. Saving two steps? This pattern recurs several times.

  • Photo size reduced when attached to mail app, from PHOTOS APP in OS X 10.10.3

    When I try to attach a photo from photos app to mail app, the photo size is reduced, even 'ACUTAL SIZE' is selected in mail app.
    I have tried out to solve this issue, but could not find any way out. Is this a bug in PHOTOS app? Previously it was happening with iPhoto also, which was subsequently rectified by an iPhoto update.
    Pl. help, if anybody has any solution

    I made a mistake, sorry. I meant something different than  I wrote.
    When you share the photo from Photos to Mail, there are no quality settings in the Share dialog at all. The email window will only have the the options "Actual size", "Large", "medium", .... but no compression settings.
    Actual size send the actual pixel size. But it is not clear, how badly the quality will be reduced by the compression.
    That is why I compared the result to the file sizes that I get, when I use "File > Export", where I can select the quality.
    I found that the compression and quality in "Share > Mail > Actual Size" is similar to "File > Export" with the JPEG Quality setting "High".

  • IOS Photos app bug

    I didn't know where to submit this to apple, so hopefully someone reads it.
    Since about 2 iOS updates ago, I've noticed a bug in the regular Photos app. When switching back to Albums view after looking at Places, the list of albums will start at the very top of the screen (behind the clock, and app controls) making it impossible to click on the Camera Roll.
    You have to go to the App Switched and kill the photos app to get it to work properly again.

    Ah, now I see it's a well known problem...
    It's been happening since 4.3, have they missed it in the last couple releases?

  • IOS 5 Photos.app bug?

    I've been actively using the share button in photos.app to post pictures to Twitter for months now. I occasionally crop my pictures before tweeting them, and today I finally realized what's happening after (rather embarrassingly) tweeting a photo that included a combination for my locker at my school. Everytime I tweet a photo from the share button, any editing is removed and the original, unaltered photo is tweeted. I've searched a lot of forums and can't find anyone else that's experiencing this. I am running iOS 5.0.1 on an iPad 2, and am just looking to see if this is a problem for anyone else or if there's a way to avoid this, outside of taking a screenshot of the edited photo and tweeting that.

    I'm running iOS 6 on my ipad and when I upload cropped photos to EBay they revert back to the original. Any idea why?

  • Photos app bug resurrects long-removed photos (related to PNG alpha)

    Wanted to report/discuss a possible privacy concern and image glitch, and understand it better for submission to Apple's feedback page: the iPad (and maybe iPhone) Photos app will consitently resurrect long-deleted photos in your Camera Roll, under certain circumstances. These are long-removed photos (as in removed many months ago, prior to the iOS 5 update), and possibly only the reduced-size thumbnail versions.
    Note: as near as I can tell, the deleted photos were NOT originally from the camera roll! That's where they resurface, but I believe they are photos from other albums, maybe once which used to by synched to iPad but which I no longer synch. So "removed" might mean deleted or it might mean "no longer synched to iPad"... the images are so old I can't recall.
    So the bug, I'm guessing, it two-fold:
    1) The Photos app (and/or iPhoto during wired synch?) is not fully removing photos (or at least, their thumbs). They're no longer visible in Photos app, but are being retained somewhere on the device.
    2) A glitch in the Photos camera roll PNG handling (which I think may be new with iOS 5) causes those old images ro re-surface when you add a PNG to the camera roll. (The old photos were JPEG, but the image that triggers the bug must be a PNG with alpha channel)
    I have seen this on both an iPad 1 and iPad 2, running iOS 5.
    Here's how to reproduce it:
    1) Synch some photos to your iPad, then deselect them for synching and re-synch (so they're not there any more). Also, add some photos or screenshots to the camera roll and then delete them. I say to do both because I'm not 100% where the old photos come from, and I'm hoping this covers all bases! Actually, most people have already done these things in the past, and can probably skip this step.
    2)  Generate a transparent PNG using the art app Procreate (and probably any app that saves PNGs to the camera roll with alpha channel). All you have to do is scribble somethign into a blank Procreate canvas, then export it to your photo album. There is no need to do anything special to get an alpha channel or PNG format: you always get that. (Unless you used the Fill command to completely cover the canvas.) Now in the camera roll there should be your scribble on a transparent background. You can email it to yourself and see that clearly in Photoshop or Preview.
    3) Here's the glitch: look at your camera roll (thumbnails view) and you'll see that the alpha-transparent background of the image has become one of your old removed photos! Tap it to enlarge and the alpha becomes black (which is fine, although it may seem odd if you intended to paint onto the default white canvas). But for just a moment, before you see the black, you will get a full-size glimpse of the old photo. (Or, maybe, an enlargement of the thumbnail?)
    4) If you keep saving more alpha PNGs, you'll keep seeing more and different old photos coming back to life in the alpha regions of the thumbnails (and, briefly, at full size).
    5) If you delete all those PNGs and then save some new ones, you'll see the same sequence of old photos reappear again.
    Needed fix: removed phtos/thumbnails should be properly purged, and alpha PNGs should show simply black (or some default background) at all times.

    Ok, I replicated it and I don't like it! I didn't use the one you marked cause I couldn't call it up properly but I did Bing
    transparent gifs and loaded up 3, one was totally invisible in the thumbnail and I could clearly see one of my pics perfectly in the thumbnail but when I brought it to page the gif filled the frame.
    I have no idea where the pic came from, I mean I recognize it but from where in the album I have no idea.
    Oh yeah, I was wrong about the first pic coming to page, it wasn't the same image but a different one...and I have no idea how the one that came up, (what i thought was the underlying pic) did, or how it got there or even from where.
    This is some weird stuff though not as weird as that silly *** movie, what a load of tripe; I should have just spent my
    time on this, it's infinitely more enjoyable!
    Ok, here's the consensus from my layman iPad view:
    What happened now and most probably before was a 'transparent gif' or a partially transparent gif like the one I spoke of first that I could see the edge of or the outer perimeter of, the underlining image with the gif taking up say 3/4 of the thumbnail; this it what it was.
    This is totally apparent to me now because of your having me import a totally transparent gif which was invisible over my pic, thus the freaky part I didn't like...keying the thumbnail with one thing and ending up with something totally different when brought to page.
    Still doesn't explain where this silly iPad is grabbing these pics from?
      But here's something funny; my camera roll shows say 9,200 pics but my, 'iMy System' app say I have like 11,300 which I always thought was a fluke, that it was just reading wrong but maybe it's seeing something we're not.           What if all those pics we're deleting to save space or just generally culling have never left the system?                     Maybe that goofy app is really reading the true count!
       Those others up above us here who mentioned privacy concerns.. this could be whats going on, there's a ghost
    in the machine and it be our old pics and god knows what else floating around in that iPads memory.
    Ok, I'm crazy tired and I have to wrap this up. Least now we know how to replicate this but on the other hand I think we opened up an even bigger can of worms... the mystery of where all those images are hiding in our iPads?
    I haven't hardwired to a computer since I upgraded to ios5 so whatever's going on here, leastwise for me is iPad
    based and can't be blamed for synching issues like you discuss up above unless what I'm grabbing here is old stuff
    reimported back into my pad from the mainframe when I was backed up for the ios5 upgrade?
    Oh well, let me know what you think. Please do forgive my not getting back to you sooner on account of the movie
    but you already know I regret choosing that over this! Hope you had a good night and thanks...

  • Strange behaviour of iPad Photos app/My Photo Stream with iOS 8.1 and Yosemite

    My requirement is surely simple and commonplace, yet is proving impossible to achieve thanks to Apple's weird design of the Photos app and the way My Photo Stream works.  I'm very technically savvy, but I'm quite prepared to admit I'm being stupid if someone can explain what I'm doing wrong!  I have an iPad Air running iOS 8.1 and a MacBook Pro Retina with OS X 10.10 (Yosemite).  I've enabled iCloud Drive on both.  iPhoto on the Mac is at v9.6.
    I have a selection of 109 photos from a recent holiday in a folder on my MacBook, which I would like in a folder on my iPad as a nice way to show them to friends.   iTunes may work but seems so incredibly clunky and old-fashioned I hoped I could do it over the network or via the cloud.  I would use (and often have used) Dropbox, which is reliable and logical but rather tedious as you have to save each photo one by one.
    So, with a little research and playing around, I found that I could get them to the iPad using iPhoto on the Mac, with My Photo Stream enabled.  However, it doesn't seem to work.  The photos were all created yesterday so had yesterday's date (I'd removed EXIF data that contained various earlier dates).
    I've just done the following test:
    I deleted all photos from the iPad (using the Photos app)
    On the Mac, I deleted all photos from iPhoto
    In iPhoto Preferences on the Mac, I turned on “My photo stream”, with the two sub-options also enabled
    I imported the 109 photos into iPhoto
    On the iPad, in My Photo Stream, I saw the photos gradually appear over the next few minutes
    A  minute or two later, when no more seemed to coming, I found that 103 of the original 109 were in My Photo Stream.  So, strangely, 6 photos were missing
    Even stranger, in the “Photos” tab, under “Yesterday” 37 of them could be seen.  If I understand this correctly (which I may not), that means 37 of them had been copied from the My Photo Stream to the iPad itself.  Am I right?  Why only 37?
    On the iPad, I added a new Album called Summer 2014
    I selected all 103 photos from My Photo Stream to add to the album
    In the Summer 2014 album, I briefly see “103 Photos” at the bottom of the album, but this quickly changes to 66 as photos that briefly appeared now disappear, leaving only 66 left in the album
    Checking in Photos/Collections/Yesterday, I find there are now 66 photos (rather than 37 as there were earlier) - the same ones that are showing in my Summer 2014 album.
    If I attempt to manually add any of the missing photos to the album, nothing happens - the album refuses to allow any more than the 66 it has.
    In iPhoto on the Mac, if I click on the SHARED/iCloud entry on the left, I see all 109 photos, which I think means iPhoto has correctly shared them all, so I suspect the problem is with the iPad.
    Yesterday, when I was playing with this, the album allowed 68 photos.  I tried deleting one and adding one of the missing photos, but it wouldn't allow this either, so I don't think it's objecting to the number of photos so much as disliking particular ones.
    I've got 7.7GB free space on the iPad so I don't think it's a space issue.
    Can anyone help?  If it's a bug in iOS, iCloud or OS X, how can I report it, given that I'm out of my 3 months support for both my machines?
    Thank you!

    Well done lumacj! This is a good workaround. Forgive me if I offer a simplified version here (this works if original photos are in Photo stream):
    1. In "My photo stream", tap on select at top of screen
    2. Tap on each photo you want to send via WhatsApp (circle with "√" shows for each photo)
    3. Tap on square box with arrow at bottom of screen (Share) - NOT "Add To"
    4. Tap on "Save image(s)"
    5. Check that selected photos now appear on "Camera Roll"
    6. From WhatsApp, send photos as you would have normally

  • Did the ios 8.3 update now i can tview photos from the camera app and the photos wont save to my photos app.

    I just did the  new ios 8.3 update for my iPhone. I've been trying to take pictures from the camera app and it wont allow me to click on the picture to view it  and none of the new photos are saving to my photos app or if you send a picture through text it doesn't save the original to the photo app either. is this a problem with the new version of ios or have a maybe selected something to not allow me to add more photos? I only have 400 photos saved on my phone so its not a fact of not having enough space. any help would be greatly appreciated

    Hello Mark Entel,
    I have the same problem with my Hyundai Sonata 2011.
    I am already wrote a bug report to apple. Here i will past it again:
    Hello,
    I have a problem with synchronization.
    Here steps to reproduce it:
    1. Plug iPhone with iOS 8.3 via Original Cable ( USB + 3.5mm on 30 pin) + original adapter from 30 pin to lighting.
    2. Verify that music plays and iPod menu successfully loaded.
    3. Unplug cable from iPhone.
    4. Plug it again.
    expected result:
    - Ipod menu Loaded. The song plays from place where it was stopped by unplugged.
    actual result:
    - initialization error
    My Device: Iphone 5s
    IOS: 8.3
    Car: Hyundai Sonata 2011 (YF ; 6 generation)
    On all previous IOS it was worked fine.
    Fix for this issue:
    - Reboot phone and plug it again. But after unplug and plug it again the issue still reproducible. Only reboot can helps.
    Please try to fix it.
    Kind Regards, Vladislav Ishkov

  • Dreadful handling of 3:2 aspect ratio photos by Photos App on 5S with IOS 7

    When you view photos that have 3:2 aspect ratio (a common standard from digital SLR cameras) in the Photos APP on the Iphone 5S with IOS 7, the software attempts to set each photo to fill the screen.  This in itself is extremely annoying, as the top and bottom of each photo is cropped, and there is no setting to stop this happening (i.e. to view the photo in its original aspect ratio with the black bars on the left and right).  However, there is a further irritating "bug" that means that each time you swipe to the next photo, it adjusts the position of the cropped photo giving a jump in the picture with every swipe.  This makes viewing multiple photos by swiping past them a completely negative experience, as there is a complete lack of smoothness to the visual experience.  By contrast, photos with aspect ratios that give wider black bars on each side are retained in their original aspect ratio (e.g. the ones from the phone's own camera) - but for some reason once the bars get smaller, the software chooses to resize the photo to fill the screen.  The fact that it does this for the standard SLR photo aspect ratio (not to mention a standard setting of many digital cameras) of 3:2 is really unfortunate.  A setting to stop any attempt to resice a picture (i.e. to view in the original aspect ratio no matter what that ratio) is clearly needed.  Additionally, a fix for the judder on each new photo is also required once it does fill the screen.
    Anyone else noticed this - and any suggestions until it is fixed?

    I've noticed it, too. It's very annoying. I am a "semi-professional" photographer (meaning every once in awhile someone pays me to take photos for them.) and I put many of my DSLR photos on my phone. It's a big pain to have to resize them on-screen each time. Wish there was a fix,
